Hi
I've just installed the latest nightly from Epsylon3 of CM9. More or less fine, a few small issues, but nothing to shout about. The only real issue, and this may be down to the flaky app (2,393 1 stars in market) is the BBC's iplayer/Media Player fails.
This is constant. I've switched of HWA for these apps, I've deleted them completely and reinstalled. I've searched the forums and the only thing close to a similar issue is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746622
I have similar events - OMXNodeInstance Observer Died. Quickly do something...anything.
There's a shed load of other events and warnings - some Errors from Activity Monitor that mention iplayer
Any ideas? Or is it just rubbish app, as loads of people in the market seem to say?
Cheers
Eserim

Hi all,
Lately I've been having one hell of a headache because browsing on one network of mine is painfully slow. So much so it's not even worth trying.
It goes like this: Google.com and usually Google search results load instantly. No problem. Then anything beyond that (loading a result or manually inputting a URL) takes FOREVER and usually results in only the top of the page loading with the completion bar stuck on around 75%. Refreshing, clearing cache, etc. etc. made no difference.
It's def not a problem with the network - no other devices suffer and speed tests show no real slowdown.
I Googled a fair bit and found a couple of posts on other forums where people had the same problems with rooted devices. Someone suggested disabling AdFree and giving it ago. THIS FIXED IT! Disabling AdFree, for whatever reason, caused the slowdowns and partial loading of webpages to stop completely.
So my question is - why? As far as I'm aware AdFree just overwrites your HOSTS file with one which redirects ad servers back to 127.0.0.1, something we've all being doing on our PCs for years. It appears that this loopback to localhost is stopping nearly all of the rest of the webpage - everything bar the very top in many cases, possibly because that loads before the first 127.0.0.1 loopback.
So why does this happen under Android, or under certain Android builds? I'm using NexusHD2 based on Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Since reverting back to a clean hosts file, I've got no problem with browsing. Switching AdFree's host file back on causes the problem to return.
Bump!

This is my second Iconia, my first one I rooted the day I got it and 12 days later, my Iconia wouldnt stay connect to the internet. But anyways, I have tried Dolphin for Pad, Stock Browser, and even firefox for my Iconia. Everytime I browse a forum, or watch a simple video file on any of these browsers, it will force close. I have searched the forums to see if its a known problem or not. I typically will have no more than 2 tabs per browser open at a time. My question is, does anyone else have this problem, is there anything I can do to correct this?
The other issue I am having is, after switching over to a new tab the page will refresh itself losing its place/download progress of a video etc. Is there any way to correct this so it doesnt do that?
My Iconia is currently stock on 3.1 ( just in case I want to roll back to root access)
And this is happening with multiple browsers? If so, the refresh problem is also happening? That is extremely bizarre, and I unfortunately do not have much to offer than to let you know that this does not happen to me at all.
I can only confirm that this does not happen to me also, but I have applied all the latest updates, so maybe one of the updates has addressed this issue. Have you checking the system log (logcat or android system info app) to see what if any error is being thrown?
First of all, you need to update, 3.1 is so old school. Secondly, you can easily root 3.2 these days. Third, have you tried Opera, never had a problem with it. The other 2 you mentioned dolphin pad and firefox are beta releases.
Wow, that is kinda bizarre. I'm on rooted stock 3.2.1 and use Dolphin browser for tablets and don't have any of these problems. If you are interested in rooting and flashing a different ROM, I'd say go ahead and do it, and see if that fixes the issue. I generally read most of the posts on here, and have never seen anyone with a problem like yours. The closest thing I've had happen is the very occasional FC with Dolphin if I have tons of tabs open and try to DL a file or something. Sorry thats not much help, but maybe a new ROM might fix whatever is messed up for you.
Have you updated your Adobe Flash player in the marketplace? I had the same problem as yours before. Then I checked the market and there was an "update" button for adobe flash. So I updated, and the browser didn't for close after that.
I've got the same problem when a few apps are running in the background and when I try to open web pages that are a bit heavy (containing movies or large photographs, for instance).
I had the same problem with the stock browser and the Dolphin browser...
My guess is that the amount of RAM memory is not high enough... Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds to me simply logical.
No troubles for me either..
im wondering if you two are on the same sites d/loading playing the same videos..
i have issues with some site on my iconia netflix search function.. and similar boxes on other sites.. But some sites its fine..
i suggest do as told above.. get on a version of 3.21 try the honeylicious or other great near stock roms.. then if your trouble continue check with other web sites that you normally dont go to ..
Good Luck..
Thank's Renee
I will follow your advice and avoid webpages that include photos or videos.

Yep, I agree.
You would be surprised the number of apps attempting to contact the Internet in the background. You could install 'Advanced Task Killer' (free version from the Android Market) and check if the RAM is running low prior to streaming a video.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced problems with some of the following apps after updating to Taboonay 3.0.1 or any other ICS ROM. The issues I am experiencing are as follows...
Netflix - TV shows - I can not scroll through the list to find the episode I want to watch. It is as if the touch is disabled for the window that pops up. I can watch movies without incident as you do not have to select a specific episode.
Stupid Zombies - I can aim, but I can not fire. Once I release the screen, nothing happens.
Beavers Revenge - I can not fling anything. I can zoom, but when I want to launch a critter, I can not move the tail.
I have heard back from one DEV group, and they informed me that the their program is ICS Compatible. Is this just a pre-release issue that I am seeing then? Other than these 3 issues, I love the experience of ICS and the Taboonay Rom. Thanks to all who have made Taboonay 3 possible.
I too have several games that are unplayable on Flexreaper's ICS release. All are touch screen issues. May be a driver issue that will be fixed with the official release. I just uninstalled the offending apps.
The roms you both are talking about are from a Leak .Both developers state there will Issues and Compatibility problems .Also some app developers do not always have the time or ability to check there apps against all roms. Most apps are tested and debugged against the so called well written api pushed from google.. Meaning yes issues . It will likely be hit and miss until there is a so called Complete bug free rom/ kernel. for ics on our tablets..
Hope this helps explain why these issues happen .Hang in there it will continue to get better. Or go back to honeycomb. .
Good Luck
I think chrome on android has improved quite a bit since it launched but I feel like it's especially bad on my nexus 10, and on specific sites. Some sites, such as this one, are very responsive to touch and there isn't any lag to speak of. Some sites, however, seem terrible. One example is androidcentral.com - the desktop version. The lag I'm referring to is when you're scrolling down the page, and you try to stop the scroll, or scroll back up the page. It seems like the browser goes unresponsive for a second and then jumps up the page a bit.
This happens on many sites I visit, but androidcentral.com is one of the better examples. It kind of kills the browsing experience for me and is one of the reasons I don't use my nexus 10 that much.
I've googled and the closest complaint I can find was on this forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986212 However it's an older post and when I checked on the link to the issue it looks as though it had been resolved.
So, my question(s) are:
1) are others experiencing the same issue?
2) is there a fix / workaround for those specific sites?
3) Is there a way to report this to google?
Mine freezes while browsing...I blamed Chrome Beta, and went back to Chrome recently.
Remains to be seen if the problem is gone.
Hi,
First, if you're using Chrome Beta (like me), I'm facing a similar problem as well, but usually mine goes blank and doesn't work till I restart the app. If you want the best fix, then it's best to download the Chrome or a different browser like Firefox or Dolphin.
You can report a bug here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/list

I've been running official CM12 nightlies on my XT907 for a few weeks now. It's rock solid overall, but one issue has plagued me since I first flashed the ROM - the built in Music app (com.cyanogenmod.eleven).
I have given up on trying to actually play music with it. For every build I've tried, including the 2/15 build I'm on at this writing, the app:
crashes in the background, seemingly at random,
creates four entries in the music browser for every song,
crashes as soon as I tap a song (rendering me unable to play any music),
occasionally crashes in the middle of updating/loading the music database,
appears to crash while running, but keeps running.
(Note: "crashes", for this post, means that a pop-up dialog appears, saying, "Unfortunately, Music has stopped," and getting dropped back to my launcher.)
No amount of clearing the app's data/cache, disabling and re-enabling the app, or double-checks of my copy of the ROM .zip have provided me any hints as to the cause of the problem, let alone solved it or revealed a solution.
While I can always use another app (Google Play Music seems to work fine, if sluggishly), I'd really like to give the stock Music a proper whirl (that, and there's the principle of wanting a fully-working CM ). I haven't heard of anyone else having this problem, at least on other phones, so it is possibly just me and some weird configuration, or possibly a song file that the database scanner is tripping up on, or ... sheesh, I don't even know.
So, uh, help? Please?
Screw that Eleven player. I don't know what the hell CM is trying to do, but it's said to be not utilizing the media library properly, causing crashes. Even a phone with *no* songs inside it will still have it crash. Tried back in December and still isn't fixed by now.
I used to like Apollo a lot but now I'm forced to switch to NexMusic - nice experience anyway.

It's nice to know that at least I'm not the only one experiencing issues. I'll give NexMusic a try and keep tabs on Eleven when I flash updates.
I found the solution to my problem. Long story short: Settings -> Apps -> All -> Media Storage -> Clear Data, then reboot and wait for the database to repopulate. Hopefully Eleven will work afterwards; it did for me.
The full story is thus: I did a factory reset at one point, wiping data and functionally starting over on CM12, and I found that the stock Music app ("Eleven") worked for once. I like the interface, and the fact that it responds much faster than Play Music (and seems to be less of a resource hog in general, when in the background, than both Play Music and VLC), so I started using it more.
Today, though, I copied some music to the microSD and found that Eleven crashed on startup - same problem as in February. So I tried poking around. Remembering that Eleven wasn't the only music app to crash on startup at one point during my search for an answer, I focused on the media database this time.
I didn't find anyone else with the exact same problem, but this thread on Android Central's forums sounded vaguely similar to me, so I decided to try their solution. Lo and behold, it worked, and I can use Eleven again.
I hope the kinks get worked out in Eleven, especially if a snapshot build ever gets released, but aside from this issue it works well enough for me.
