Splashtop THD for Phones (do you want it?) - Galaxy Note II General

Hi all,
So the Galaxy Note II's been out for a little while now. Pretty nice, it's almost tablet size. ;O
And then now we have Splashtop 2 HD out on phones. Great! But.... not great for gaming!
Anyway, so... wouldn't it be nice if Splashtop THD was added for phones to fix that problem!
OR some better controls for Splashtop 2 >> such as the hot keys you find in the other, tablet only app.
In the "Request a feature" section I have recently added these two topics:
"Add Hot Keys for Splashtop 2 or THD (for phones)"
and
"Splashtop THD for Phone"
I can't post the links yet, sorry. I'm asking for the support of all who are possibly interested in the addition
of Splashtop THD for their phones to add their comments please! (I realize that THD stands for Tegra 3 apps,
but I am hoping that the same functionality can be added to phones.)
Thanks!

The Galaxy Note II doesn't have a Tegra processor so they won't be making a THD version for your phone. BUT my HTC One X+ has a Tegra 3 yet I can't get the THD app >:C I guess Splashtop designed it to be only for tablets? Which is fairly annoying!! My phone has the same screen resolution and processor as my Asus tablet but I guess they are like, 'sorry no, you have a small screen so we won't let you instal this'. That being said I would like to see them enable Splashtop THD on phones and not just tablets.

[Help Buying] Tablet for Gaming : Archos 101 or Galaxy Tab Wifi or ViewSonic GTab

Hello,
I know this question is asked hundred times and answered thousand times, but i am not getting a clear idea on this and also i didnt find points that i am looking for discussed any where, So here it goes.
I am from india and with a budget of under 20K. I am a gamer and also a Artist developing (trying to develop games for Android.).
so basically i am looking for a tablet which can satisfy my Gaming and Game development.
So my points with Importance.
1. Gaming.
2. Future proof.
2. Video Playback and Music.
3. Connectivity (external devices like TV etc.)
4. Price - 20K.
So can anyone suggest me and help me out with this, and Help guidance with India's point of view / keeping india (availability, support etc ) in mind would be great....
Thank You..
id go with the galaxy tab, you tube works great for showing games on devices. gameloft has alot of hd games out for galaxy tab plus ones on the market, plus the humming bird processor helps lol... id check craigslist.com... also i seen xoom tablets for pretty cheap on craigslist too i seen them as low as 200$ good condition that has honeycomb with the 10in screen n dual core... but im not really sure about the other tablets you mentioned i own a sprint galaxy tab and love it, you can root it and play tegra 2 games on it with a app called chainfire3d found on android market hope this helps.....
also picture is pretty clear has dvd quality player built in and sound is pretty good as well... plus it has built in effects like 5.1ch and so on
The new archos 10.1 16gb g9. It has 1.5 dual core and the same gpu as galaxy tab. Bigger screen and higher resolution.
the galaxy tab wifi has worse graphics than the 3g one

Perhaps you did (although that wasn't specified), but many others will find the information useful. You don't have to include them in updates to the first post, but everyone should feel free to contribute any working game.

There's really no reason why those shouldn't be able to work with the TF300, so that list is probably a good place to start.

I downloaded galaxy on fire 2 THD and its definately not in HD, the graphics look absolutely gash. Is this just me being an idiot and downloading the wrong version or it not native 1280*800 resolution?
Also where did you get battlefield 2 from? Cant find it on play store.

Well, the term "hard core" can go a lot of different ways. If by hard core you mean THD games or basically games that show off your tab's graphical prowess... you've got most of the top ones already. There are some nice older titles like Roboto HD that look great as well but aren't graphically as strong as games like Shadowgun or 9mm.
If you want games that look good and actually work like they're supposed to the ones I added are nice options; It really just depends on the type of games your looking for. I generally blow through 40-60 games a week and can put any others I find in the thread bsweetness suggested, thanks for that btw there were some there I haven't tried yet.
I picked up my tab 2 days after it dropped on-line, and my biggest gripe so far besides color depth has been lack of compatible games. There are a lot out there, but I was surprised at how many don't play nice with ICS or with tablets in general.
They like to tout the "power of gaming" with quad-core devices, but they don't talk about the lack of quality or compatible games do they...

That's true. The One X and One S seem to be selling well, so one can only assume that better Tegra 3 support is coming. However, aside from the One phones, how many phones are being released with a Tegra 3 SoC? Well, at least those are selling well.

IIRC, will become compatible. When is up to the developer. It is only compatible with Transformer Prime 10 inch iirc. iirc, THD was designed for 10 inch devices in mind.
I read all this somewhere but do not have the link. Probably googling Transformer Prime and splashtop will yield results.
I am waiting out on my $25 purchase waiting for a THD version for Nexus. I am more interested in access to my PC's Office programs, but I may as well get the added benefit of better gaming compatibility.
splashtop thd was designed for 10inch tablets as mentioned above. devs are working on a version that will work with the nexus 7.

I don't understand why '10 inch' makes any difference on a device with the same chip set and number of pixels on screen.
Besides , I find the spashtop hd app even more responsive on the n7 than THD on my prime or my iPad 3 version. Its extremely fluid. Maybe down to better WiFi performance? I stream live/recorded TV from my htpc flawlessly with it.
If I had anything to complain about it would be that the 7 inch screen makes it hard to precisely control the mouse cursor location.

DraStic nintendo ds emulator on shield

Wow, I can't believe it runs so well. I have pretty much every game I could want for the DS but it would be fun to play on a nicer screen. Maybe one of those stylus that works on capacitive screens would be good to have for the touch heavy based games.

I have a request in to do like a on screen mapping for the right analog stick for touchscreen input for games that use the touchscreen for an control method as demonstrated in the video. It is a problem with emulating that platform with a device that doesn't share the same form factor with it's combination of hardware controls and touchscreen. (OUYA, tablet + moga/PS3/xbox360, xperia play, etc etc) if all touchscreen device it's a natural switch.
I didn't do it in the video, but you can use the right stick and click (push down & hold) and it simulates the touchscreen input. But it's kind of a pain to constantly push in. If the option doesn't get implemented I think a 3rd party on screen mapper program could serve the same purpose.

Wow that runs beautifully. Can't wait to see this on the Play Store!
Side by Side, damn thats an odd layout, but works great for the shield I guess.
Is this emulator specific to shield or could it also run on a tablet with a gamepad, and if so can it run portrait?

there's other layouts and other devices demo'ed in one of the other videos in my channel. Side by side or big/little and one screen w/ switch button that makes the most sense layout wise for a landscape only device. But for purposes of this video I just everything default in this one.
There is a top/bottom landscape I'm going to show off in a future video that might be more interesting to some people but it leaves large boarders on the sides.

Top/Bottom I was more interested in for a tablet etc which I could flip portrait.
This looks like a promising emulator. None of the other DS emulators I have tried in the past have performed well on android at all, this looks to be the first playable one.

for tablets/phones and stuff there is top/bottom portrait
it runs well on modestly spec'd hardware. The lowest I can suggest is an mono-core cortex a8 @ 1Ghz (xperia play) more cores and next generation chip-sets will perform better according to raw processing power. It works very playable on a dual core a8 @ 1.2Ghz (HTC EVO 3D)
the minimum technical requirements are
ARMv7 (cortex a8, a9, a15 or above)
NEON SIMD extension (tegra 2 specifically is out tegra 3/4 is fine)
Android Gingerbread 2.3.3+ (some extra features will be enabled with a higher version of android)
Cool. I will be more likely to play this on my S4, but do plan on getting the Shield. Was going to get the Ouya, but the low storage, proprietary market and clunky UI have turned my interest to zero. This has much better specs, portable and has good enough sound where a 24" or 27" pc display without speakers could be used. Low cost arcade system

Not to mention that any game that runs on the ouya could be ported to run on the shield. Only thing missing would be touchpad support, which the OUYA implements as a HID mouse so a USB mouse may actually fulfil that role. Failing that, touch screen.
There were efforst to get the OUYA framework on other devices to natively attempt to run OUYA titles, I don't know how thats gone, but the shield would be an awesome candidate for that.

I've been playing CV Aria or Sorrow and so far it's the best nds emu on android. I do get some minor bugs (game will close out back to the emulator menu) but all in all, an excellent emulator.
I've tested it on three games so far and it's by and far the best DS emulator out there. It's so smooth, and it allows for native gamepad mapping, which the others are lacking.
The only problem I'm having is touch input for the bottom screen. How do I enable it?
Also, I'm on a Nexus 10, but since this thread was started by a beta tester, I figured I'd ask here.

This emulator is fantastic. Honestly being able to sync your savestates with Google Drive made me wonder "Why hasn't anyone done this before?"
This app rocks! Well spent money for this.
What game is shown in the screen shot on the play store where there is a guy with a sword in a dungeon and a blob looking thing? I have a DS and every game I could want at least I thought I did, but I don't recognize that game...
This is awesome. Been messing with this emulator since it released on the Play Store. I'm amazed at how well it runs. Haven't run into a single issue with it.
This emulator rocks. I have been playing everything I have and not a problem yet. I really like the way I can play Gta Chinatown on my shield and use Google drive to sync my progress so I can pick up on my phone. (Note 2 runs perfect btw)

Gameloft games not supported

So I basically couldnt wait for the sheild to come out and I bought one only to find out that big gameloft titles like Modern combat 4, Nova 3 etc are not supported by the shiled controls :crying: why nvidia why, I would have thought that nvidia would have some kind of on screen mapping controls like archos gamepad but I was wrong, I hope soon that they will with some kind of software update because alot of ppl who bought this thing to play big Gameloft Tiltes are not happy plzzzzz nvidia fix this
Current devices:
Xperia tablet Z 4G LTE. (4.2.2 rooted on stock rom)
Xperia Z. (4.2.2 rooted on custom Rom monxDIFIED)
Galaxy S4. (4.2.2 rooted on omega Rom)
Galaxy Note 2. (4.3 CM10.2)
Nvidia Shield. (4.2.1 rooted stock Rom)
PlayStation Vita 3G & WiFi (collecting dust)
There are 3rd party apps that let you do that.
Also NVidia have no obligation to "fix" this when it isn't an advertised feature.
If anything the only people that have to fix things are gameloft themselves.

Just to let you know, Modern Combat 4 works just fine on the SHIELD. You can fire and ironsight with the R1/L1 buttons and sprint/crouch by pushing up or down twice on the left analog.
Try the Amazon App store, it's $6.99 there. The game runs very smooth and multiplayer works great as well.

Root your shield and download "Device Spoofer". This app does as it sounds and spoofs google play into thinking your shield is whatever you want it to be. This makes it so you are no longer limited to games available to only shield. I have chosen to spoof the system into thinking my shield is an Xperia Play. Now I have access to all Gameloft games on the Google Play Market.
I'm still testing controller support while spoofing though. Don't get too excited.

I went ahead and grabbed MC4 off Amazon App store...annoyed to have to buy again, but I was real curious about it working on the shield, and it does work well. The control mappings could be a bit better though, but maybe they are working it.
I also would like them to update Wild Blood - since I paid for that sometime ago but want to play it on my shield.
I wish they would quit releasing everything as freemium...I hope they DO NOT release MC5 as free to play.
I have an issue with the right stick not working in Max Payne and all gameloft games. Anyone else having that issue?

drag down the top right notification and untick virtual mouse off, then it should work :good:
Think I found my first actual complaint with the shield and it's completely software related, possibly analog stick driver related. Could be corrected for in games, but after some testing all games are sort of struck by this.
You turn off mouse emulation and the analog stick movement in games is almost entirely static aside from the small zone in the center where you can make minor corrections. Movement hits "balls to the wall" max value very quickly IMO.
Nova 3 is brilliant with shield, a lot like a Halo 3 clone, I have spent many many many hours playing halo 3 so I was very excited. After playing for about 4-5 hours last night, one thing I could tell as being mostly different (aside from R bumper fire vs R trigger fire) was regardless of the sensitivity setting, the acceleration spectrum of the joystick isn't anywhere near the same.
You can turn down the look sensitivity and moving the stick quickly plateaued out on the speed you can look in any direction. You turn it up too high 3/5th-5/5th and it makes it impossible to make any kind of very sensitive minor correction. (no scopes) For me anyway, having it set to 1/5-2/5th sensitivity is perfect for the minor corrections in that game and getting those headshots with ease. But it makes making major corrections (looking behind you 180's) impractical. When playing on the xbox the more aggressive the stick movements the more it will accelerate your movement while still keeping minor corrections possible with minor movements. (I played halo 3 on 2/5th setting)
So, I went in and started checking other games, maybe it was just a problem with nova... and it's basically doing the same thing in every game. Spent a lot of time playing GTA 3 and same thing there as well. I didn't pick it up at first because for the other games I didn't have a good idea of "what right looked like" But other games like respawnables & shadowgun are sort of the same deal even though I didn't really have a point of reference for those.
I know it's not a simple thing to explain and ask for, and I bet a lot of people won't even notice it, or think it's just me. What is needed is the joystick equivalent to "mouse acceleration" in windows though.
EDIT: and there needs to be (or a bigger) deadzone in the center, that might actually fix both problems (push minor values outwards of the center some). I have found some analog stick ghost movements when my thumbs are off them.
I wouldn't mind trying order and chaos with controller support. If you use the device spoofer just to get the app downloaded then turn it off will the games run? The issue is mostly just getting them onto the device isn't it?

The spoofer is only needed for the play store, from that point onwards the app itself has very little it can do to prevent running on your device.
