[Q] stuck at boot animation after fastboot erase cache - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I booted my phone to fastboot mode and issued the following command in linux:
fastboot erase cache.
then I reboot my phone to fastboot mode again and issued:
fastboot boot recovery-clockwork-6.0.1.9-mako.img
the phone reboots into clockwork recovery and then I choose backup in the menu. but the backup stops at about 70% progress with error:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open/cache/recovery/last_log
so I go back to the parent menu and choose reboot now. now the phone can't be booted! it stays at the google logo for several minutes, which is longer than usual and finally the "X" animation appears. but it stuck at the animation for over 10 min now.
what went wrong? is it caused by the "fastboot erase cache" or by the backup using clockmod? please help

ok, I solved the problem by rebooting the phone into stock recovery (with android robot and a red exclamation mark) and choosing wiping the data / reset then rebooting the phone.
after I choose "wiping data/reset", there is a message saying something like "cache partition formatted". I guess this brings my phone back? I don't know what exactly "fastboot erase cache" does. but my guess is it wipes out the cache partition but does not reformat it, and my phone needs a formatted cache partition to boot successfully. anyone can explain?

now I can also use clockwork mode to backup, no Can't mount /cache error anymore.

[Q] Defy - no boot and no recovery after root

Hi, - I'm a noob in this.
I'm working on my Motorola Defy and my Ubuntu 13.04 machine.
I:
1) Rooted my device using these guides: "wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jordan"
and
.ibm.com/developerworks/community/blogs/coolwinding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?
2) I got the CyanogenMod installed and it worked. I needed to install Gapps so I followed this guide
linux.com/learn/tutorials/698725-how-to-install-cyanogenmod-on-an-android-phone
3) When I tried rebooting my phone to install Gapps I couldn't boot into the recovery utility. I only had the possibilities: "reboot system now", "apply sdcard:update.zip", "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition".
I tried them all (I was really stuck!) but after the wipe data/factory reset I can't even boot in the Rom, so now I'm totally stuck with these four options as all there is!
In the bottom I get:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
- I see these are common but it is always resolved by booting the phone in the rom and I'm not able to do that.
I read that the Defy is not easily bricked, but what is there to do now? adb can't find the device from the SDcard only.
What2do?

*In my opinion you should start again from clean SBF if you don´t know how to flash it in LINUX Guide is HERE(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076138). Just make sure you are flashing the right SBF for your Phone.
*THEN root it as it is said here (https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/...ding/entry/how_to_root_defy_on_linux1?lang=en) *Alow USB debugging and unknown aplications and install 2ndinit apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212)
*THEN reboot and watch your phone, wait for the blue LED turns on and pres volume down.
*Select custom recovery and flash for example CM7 from HERE (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=jordan) and GAPPS (http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip) and reboot
*Now you have CM7 and working phone
** You can try CM10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702), CM10.1(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2013059) by Quarx ...... FOR CM10.1 you need MINI GAPPS (http://d-h.st/users/tejus.k.v)

It worked! Thank you very much. I'm SO tired now.
In order to install zips you have to reboot to clockworkmod recovery by pressing vol down when the defy boots up showing the blue led instead of entering the stock one

[Q] Stuck on recovery after factory reset

I have a nexus 7 (2012) wi-fi model.
I loaded the factory image for 5.02 from google using their instructions and the device started up afterwords just fine. But using it with 5.02, it kept getting stuck/frozen and I had to hard-restart it a lot. So I decided to do a factory reset. I went into stock recovery and I selected factory reset. It formatted /data and /cache but after that it could not mount /cache or anything in it. Eventually it restarted back into recovery on its own and re-formatted /data and /cache but again gave the same errors and landed me on the recovery menu. Trying to "reboot system now" or "reboot to bootloader" just shuts it down. I then need to long press power to start it back up, but when it does, it again formats /data and /cache, goes through the errors and lands me in the recovery menu. Trying to get to the bootloader by pressing power and volume down results in the same (loads recovery where it formats /data and /cache and goes through the errors). And with no bootloader I can't even reflash anything.
Please help

[Q] In recovery: "failed to mount /cache (unknown error 150)"

I have a G2 that wants a decryption password on startup. It's rooted, and with stock recovery.
I reflashed with the LG tool, and did a "wipe data/factory reset" in recovery mode. The password problem remains.
I noticed that recovery mode complains "failed to mount /cache (Unknown error 150)". I'm assuming that's why I can't install custom recoveries or firmware using adb sideload.
Is there a way to fix the /cache mounting problem, or to allow full adb access, or install a custom recovery?

When you boot into recovery! Go to the mount option and try mounting system and all partitions!
I am not sure about this! Whether it will work but still making an effort is not bad! All the best ! Otherwise contact YU customer care they'll provide a refurbished !
All the best [emoji106]

Same problem happened in my device. The one who had this problem, I think yours is resolved. Would you please tell me the way to remount the partition or repartition the internal storage. please brother.

Yotaphone stuck at bootloader

I've just bought my yoataphone 2, when an update showed up, after installing it and rebooting, my screen went to bootload, but it says
android system recovery
then 4 option:
*Reboot system now (already tried, it comes back to that screen)
*apply update from ADB
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache partition
E: Cannot load volume /misc!
tried selecting all of them but nothing works, please someone
