Half of touchscreen not working - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hi guys, just now my mom's X5's right half of the screen stopped responding. Apparently she went to a concert and it started to rain but the phone itself didn't actually contact any water. Point is since it was raining, the air was damp, after that she claimed the right half of the screen stopped responding.
Checked using developer's tool -> show pointer location that it stops detecting touch input EXACTLY at 0 on the x-axis. Any solutions to this other than sending it to the repair center? I've still got another year of warranty on this but preferrably not to send back to warranty as service centres are known to take their own sweet time in repairing phones plus the X5 had already been flashed to a custom firmware.
thanks.

My brother's phone had the same issue and i flash the original firmware and eventually sent it to the warrenty.
After 2 weeks phone returned fixed by a new panel. You should try and see. You won't lose anything.
If you are sure they won't fix then you should by a touchscreen from ebay or somewhere similar.

Lower part of screen stopped responding

After 4 months of flawless work, the lower part of the screen (a strip several millimeters from the edge) suddenly stopped responding properly!
E.g., all buttons in this area (including launcher/phone/+ on home screen) either don't work at all, or sometimes activate after a while when strongly pressed with the thumb (orientation doesn't matter).
Just two hours before they responded fine to the index finger.
Also, I've noticed that when I "multi-touch" the lower line in a file browser with two fingers, it works nice! Buttons are too small for that, however
I first tried to restore backup, but it didn't help, of course.
Has anybody had the same problem?? I guess it's a warranty case ...
I would agree, it's probably a hardware problem that you'll have to bring your phone in for service to get fixed.
I'm having that same problem my self, but just now and then. What helped with me is that I press the upper left corner of the phone with my other hand and then the lower part works fine, so i think i should get a new digitizer or its just loose connector.
im having the same problem , i have put up with it for the past few weeks and its driving me nuts now. today i did a factory reset which made no difference , i called htc who didnt sound a bit suprised by my phone call it gets picked up tomorrow morning to go for repair so the question is ... is this a common fault? and how the hell am i gonna cope without my hero in my pocket ?
Yeah happened to mine last week, a few have had the same issue where it's just the launcher bit not responding. Although the good news is that I'm getting it back tomorrow though so it's good times!
I had the same problem with my touchscreen (after a month or so!)
Mine got picked up thursday by HTC and I just checked the tracking site and they just recieved it.
I wonder how long it's going to take
Visited their service center last week.
They've immediately replaced my screen with a new one without any ado. Now everything works as before!
BUT a friend of mine who bought his Hero in January is having similar problems now...
It is a common problem according to HTC.
Mine was repaired in just 10 days.
Same problem here, did htc said anything about this problem? is it a common fault?
thank you
I said it in the post above yours.
ah yes, right, thank you

If they acknowledge it officially, couldn't you provide a link please?
i gave mine last week to repair, they returned to me unfixed. on the paper stated that they only updated the software, what a dumb this htc guys. need to go back and tell them again the same story. im wasting my time only for this. wtf
I recently had this problem. The 3 buttons at the bottom of the screen wouldn't respond, took it into T-Mobile who said I'd have it back within about 7 to 10 days... 3 weeks later I got a text saying I could collect my phone...
On the paper sheet it says they've replaced the lens.. Which I can see they have as before I had a miniscule hairline scratch near the top.
They also mention a software update (1.0.0.A6288)
Either way it works nicely now.
I've recently experienced the same issue - the lower part of the screen, the one where the LauncherPro icons usually are stopped responding to touch. If I press really hard it works sometimes, but it's pretty annoying. I didn't sit on the phone or drop it recently, it just stopped working all of a sudden.
Is there anything I can do, as the phone is out of warranty ?
HTC South Africa gave me a new hero after I took mine in for the 3rd time. Hardware problem. Very happy with their service.
i have this exact same problem, is the only solution to send to htc? >_> Cuz my warranty's out already unfortunately... i flashed my hero to CyanogenMod 7 and it seems to have helped, but still not completely responsive... I also have a problem where at times i completely lose control of my touch screen where the spots i touch seem to respond to opposite sides of the screen... anyone else?
Remove battery, Remove sim card. put a dryer on the htc logo for about 40 mins. put the phone under a heavy object. Let it dry for about 15 mins and your fixed.
^ wtf do u mean?... are u just being a gimp...

touchscreen dead?

the touchscreen element of my [email protected] has seemed to stop working.
I think that another point of the screen is in contact becase when i have got to work (through squeezing certain areas of the screen and then letting go) it seems to show the same as doing a two finger touch (zooming etc)
anyone else had this and do you think it's covered under the 12 month warranty?
there's no scratches on the screen at all or obvious defects
same proBlem here ..
My HD2 showed an expanding darkblue hint of colour (somewhat the same when you press very hard on a lcd) from where I pressed, just only once. Few days later the touch was failing randomly, increasing day after day.
Thought it had to do with al the radio- spl- hspl- and rom-flashing that I was trying on my device.
It didn't give me too much trouble untill it completly vanished in a matter of 5 minutes.
I had it laying on a table, responded to an incoming sms, placed it back on the table, about 5 minutes later I got another sms, but all the touch was gone so never ever read that message.
Was able to put everything back to original (SPL + Radio + ROM), went to where I bought it and 2 weeks later I could pick it up again with the screen replaced and also HTC-Service installed the new update that was released (the Dutch version) while my HD2 was being repaired.
My touchscreen digitizer failed a couple of months ago. Apparently it was common in earlier models. A quick google search (other search engines are available ) will reveal a few horror stories about how HTC had rushed the development of the capacitive touchscreen and rushed it to market, with loads of devices being returned due to this very same problem. It is covered by your warranty though, which you should find is 24 months and not 12.
HTC were really helpful with me actually. It took a while to get back, but they give you a ticket number so you can track the progress all the time, from receiving your device, testing, repairing, sending back etc. And they even send a UPS courier to you to pick it up from you. You will need your serial number and IMEI when you call, and they'll ask you to package it up in suitable packaging, such as the box it was received in in the first place. They'll only need the actual phone itself, so you can remove your battery, sim card, memory card, battery cover etc. They just need the front bit, so the rest of the box should be empty, apart from your receipt of course, which needs to be a maximum of 2 years old and if it has a name and address on, it needs to be yours, as, if you bought the device second-hand, the 2 year warranty is non-transferable. It is only valid for the original purchaser.
Hope this helps. Also remember to revert to stock rom and spl if you've flashed hspl and a custom rom as your warranty will be deemed void. I know it's not a nice thing to have to send your HD2 away, but I had no choice and it's all back in one piece and working perfectly now.
Good luck.

HTC Repair Question

Hey all,
I've just had my HD2 back from a repair where my screen died. It's nice that they've fixed it and all, but they haven't replaced the VOID sticker on the battery compartment!
Essentially they've voided my own warranty!!! What should I do?
Ta
Don't worry. Spoke to HTC - they said I had to just take a photograph with a date stamp and keep it just in case I need another repair. Hmmmm!
same here
I too had the same issue.
I gave it to service center few months back for the hard keys were not working and today the screen stopped working((actually it had a very very bad accident but it survived don't know how)). i went to the service center today they asked for how did the seal got broken and i told them that they only have opened the device couple of months back. they checked the their computer and WOW now my hd2 is at service center.Iwill get the screen replaced in one week as the device is under warranty.

Half of screen showing static, carrier refused to repair. Can I fix it myself?

Hi there,
A couple of weeks ago, my Note 4 began to act up. Every so often the right hand side of the screen would freeze up and eventually show static.
These pictures aren't mine, but they show the exact issue: http://imgur.com/a/LqoeA
Anyway, I decided to go to my phone carrier (EE) to get it repaired as it was still in warranty. They agreed that this would be covered and sent it to their repair center. The repair center then contacted me and told me that the fault was due to water damage (which is impossible as my Note has never touched water) and sent it back, refusing to fix it. When I got it back, it was in a complete state. They had broken the LCD and Digitizer to the point where the screen wouldn't even turn on anymore, and it was hanging out by the ribbon cables (The home button and flex cables for the soft keys were also extremely loose).
Because of this, I decided that I'd have a go at fixing it myself. I went online and bought a new LCD + Digitizer. I've just fit it and now whilst the screen powers on again, I've come full circle as the static issue still is present.
Is there any more I can do or is there no way of getting this fixed without professional aid? I'm unable to send it in for repairs because the repair center obviously are unwilling to work on it, and even if they were now, I wouldn't trust them as they inflicted even more damage to the phone and sent it back to me in a worse state. I've already sank £100 on a replacement part, so I'm not to keen on paying for repairs either (I could put the money towards a new phone instead).
The help is much appreciated! Thanks!

S7 Edge FingerPrint Issue Android 7

My fingerprint scanner has stopped working, after I upgraded to Android 7 (Nougat).
I took it into my Samsung store who said it was a hardware issue, it failed the self diagnostic test.
However they refused to fix the issue under warranty because the screen is cracked.
The screen has been cracked for over 5 months now, so I hardly see how they are related.
Can anyone way in on this?

Well if the screen is cracked, and your phone is still under warranty, then surely they should be fixing that too ? Samsung sound pretty useless to me, and use every excuse under the sun for not fixing things, try boot to recovery and factory reset, this can sometimes fix faults after an update.
EDIT: after updating mine to androind N, the fingerprint reader is working fine, infact so far ive got no problems here at all.
Yep a long as it is a UK model and under one year old Samsung should change the screen and fix the touch sensitive button. As long as you don't have a great big dent in the case that caused the cracked screen...... I just ordered new back cover for mine as it's a dual SIM and Samsung won't repair it under warranty. They quoted £65 to change the back cover and I purchased it on eBay for £20.
I will heat up the back cover and change it myself tomorrow.

Try to go back to MM.
Download latest MM version from sammobile.com and flash it with Odin
Then you will know if it's SW- or HW problem

Let them do it so you keep your device's water resistance.
s7 edge fingerprint sensor error
Wanted help regarding my s7 edge fingerprint sensor. It responds just fine sometimes but most of the time it gives an error. I tried the solution of clearing cache , pressing power and volume down button together to soft reset it. But nothing worked. The funny part is that it will respond for a few while after rebooting ( restarting ) it but when it gibes the error it stops completely until restarted again. Did not drop it. Didn't place it in water. The problem did start after updating from marshmallow to nuogat and even after getting two security patch updates. Don't know what to do. Can anyone plz guide me how to use *#0*# code to check fingerprint sensor because when i check it it sometimes give that intializing failed. Sometimes if i don't put my finger on the sensor it says it passed and when i place my finger it only shows first box passed while the rest of the boxes fail. I searched everywhere on internet for but in the end came back to xda and decided to ask u guys. As i did got alot of help from u guys on my s2 and note 4. I hope that someone might try to help.
I don't know the answer, but I can confirm a similar issue with my S7 since upgrading to nougat. Also I seen to get a few apps force closing. My device is stock and not rooted. I got so fed up with the finger scanner not responding I switched back to only a pin code for a week. Now I switched back to finger print and only set up one finger print memory........now for a week it send to be working, but still getting force closes of the play store app.

Try to reinstall the rom stock. If the problem persists, then it is a hardware problem. Your sensor went to the bag.
