Will we make it?

Bin4ry quitted the forums although he wanted to crack the Bootloader but do you think we will make it whitout him? I feel like no but we will see
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
The developers here did enough without opening the bootloader, so my guess is everything is fine here ( most ROMs here are completed with camera fix ) what more do you want?
And quitted is not the word, he just went into another project.. another challenge
I think we should start another thread about whether to start another thread about this topic
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
for 2.2 froyo roms, they are basically completed
for 2.3 gingerbread ones, we just have to wait for the gingerbread update (official) so we can use the kernal and drivers available to make them stable.
I don't think our devices will make it to ice cream though..

Lol agreed!
Anyways, I feel if one of the other devs ask him for help he will....so I don't think he will be gone completely

Uuh ice cream :9
I think Z,J and all great devs are able to port it... when it's released ^^
Sent from my X10 using XDA Premium App
Mj what you said is true most roms are complete but there is still more things we can do for example 16 millions color thingy and the device is locked to 32 fps and i'd love to overclock my device and for some people facing the low in call volume issue a fix and all these would be done by unlocking the Bootloader.

i heard if someone updates to the new and official 2.3 it wil make it even harder to crack the bootloader me personaly i wont update to 2.3 beacause i can use other better roms such as cm7 and arc rom

That's the first I've heard of anything bootloader related to SE's 2.3.3. It might be possible to infer that but otherwise nothing is publicly known. *Maybe* rooting it might be more difficult.
2.3 kernel + CM7 mod >> 2.1 kernel + CM7 Mod
Just IMO (might be different but we won't know until July)
I think we should aware something:
1)Bin4ry doesn't crack the bootloader cause the cracking is...hell
What Tue devs do is to crash the normal booting procredures in order to run our custom kernel(the kexec method)
2)I still blieve that we can soon run custom kernel for daily use
Z is trying his best to do that,he had got the radio, overclockint etc, this will be released once the kernel is ready.
The leaving of Bin4ry is a kind of lost, but it doesn't mean it wont be possible to develop the custom kernel
Cheers,
L

I hope z will make it and yeah its hell of a loss he made alot for us like the flashtool sad loss anyways cant wait for the custom kernel being released!!!!

Bin4ry is a beast, but don't forget about the other devs!! And Bin4ry says hes gonna stay if we donate $200 to him.
Lol hes gonna get more then that if he actually manage out that custom kernel! And this is sad he wants money for his work like most devs but if he really asked it like this "pay me 200$ and i will stay" its eww!

erm....that is not the case at all.....Andreas (Bin4ry) is actually saying that he does not feel comfortable with the OP of the thread requesting that money is collected for him. Bin4ry did NOT request the $200 at all.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12466249&postcount=11
just want to make that clear.
Yea I realized that I made him look bad, but Bin4ry actually feels uncomfortable with the situation
My bad I worded that badly
It have been cracked by z!!!!!!! Omfg no kidding i saw a comment in the cm7 rom thread where it said z have made it + there was link of the thread omg!!!!

Sony Ericsson Gives 20 phones to CyanogenMod team

This is good news to our community since SE used to be anal about these mods.
They are giving 20 phones out to the CyanogenMod team and helping them out with kernals and debugging.
http://www.androidauthority.com/son...-modders-gives-20-phones-to-developers-25742/
Honestly, I couldn't be more happy with all the changes Sony Ericsson has made.
that is too cool!
Can't wait to see where development goes form here!
Very cool! That's a much better stance than Motorola is now taking (so much for their unlocked bootloaders).
Considering how many they gave, I'm going that includes the CDMA R800x!

I'm pretty sure they will. Keep in mind the R800x officially cannot be bootloader unlocked. If they officially support custom roms on the R800x verizon will not be happy.
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk
that's a great news!
maybe we'll see features in our xperia play combining the goods of cm7 and our phone.
Hopefully now that SE support development they can release their Kernel sources earlier
Loving the news.
My Atrix runs CM7 and it makes the device so customizable and better to use, so having this on the Xperia Play as well would be a plus.
With great news like these my atittude for Sony Ericsson is changing for the better.
Unlocked bootloaders and trying to help the community out. So much better than what Motorola and HTC have been doing recently.

Xperia Arc & Neo ICS Updates released today

Just found this and wanted to share.
Arc & Neo ICS updates out today.
http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/05/2...eo-android-4-0-ics-updates-start-rolling-out/
On a side note I thought I read somewhere that the Arc is a common ROM to be ported to Xperia PLAY.....this true?
Anyway just sharing.
Yes, it is true.
Sent from my R800x using XDA
Wohoo, this sounds promising, it sounds like my first try to port a ROM ever here, since I really want a ICS-ROM for Xperia Play, but only if the android version is 4.0.4 then, otherwise, it will not get better And after that I will try to get everything to work as well
it seems that the latest Xperia Pro ICS firmware has been leaked!
The sony devs better pray that it runs like crap on our phones because I cant imagine them looking worse than they do right now
If devs port this rom to the Play, get TouchPads working with all the touchpad games and I'll retract every ICS is bad for the Play comment I've made recently

Which is.... pretty much impossible. The dev's need to update the games.

But we'll need a kernel won't we?
Sent from my Xperia™ PLAY using TapatalkHD
If it wasn't for the custom roms, I would feel like crap for buying this phone (Xperia Play). At least, there are some decent roms out there.
Anyway, it is a shame that Sony hasn't released, at least, the sources, or have they?

ICS is great for us who pretty much just use the pad for emulators. Emulators work fine in ICS, and you get all the niceties (sadly the rotation animation is way up there on my list).
I could care less if Sony released an update or not, I'm still able to get a damn fine ICS experience with the aokp rom.

Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
Although I am on stock rom but i want to thank all developers for making the forum more interesting...
I am still there too... :fingers-crossed:
Development slowed down since there are no updates from Sony.. I am the one who likes to work on Official ROMs as it lets u use your phone with full hardware features working with stability...
You saw how I changed an Official Sony Stock ICS ROM to a completly AOSP ROM ... let JB come in, maybe I do same with that too but only if sony releases it..
For time being I dont think there is any use working on JB ROMs as performance will be the same and the extra features are not mind blowing enough to satisfy me of working on it...
cheers..

First time rom developer here. Gonna make a custom jb Rom for the att tab2 10.1

Ski found the lack of rooms for the i497 disturbing so I decided this is the best time to start developing. If anyone has any tips or suggestions I would love to hear them.

It's gonna be a stock based (not gonna touch boot cuz already bricked and sent to Samsung once) but I'm going to try and theme it like the Xperia z because I love that interface.
