T-Mobile Insurance on Play Store Nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I purchased my Nexus 4 through the Google Play store and will be using in with Tmobile (US). After searching around and not really getting a solid answer, I called T-Mobile to ask if the Play Store purchased Nexus 4 qualifies to be protected through T-Mobile's Equipment Protection program (insurance). Well, I still didn't get a solid answer. The rep was not sure off hand and had to do some searching. The best she could do was figure that more than likely it will be, but nothing said for sure yet.
She mentioned that it probably would be since it is a supported device, and that "they made an exception for the Nexus 1, so that may be an indication that the Nexus 4 will be supported." (obviously Nexus 1 was only sold through Play Store directly, not through any carriers, yet because it was supported on the Tmobile network they insured it).
I was told to keep the current insurance program that I have on my HTC One S because it should automatically transfer over to the new phone once activated, however it still was not for sure, and I should just call back a couple times until they have a final answer.
What are your experiences? Has anybody else called Tmobile and been told the same, or different?
Also, anybody have experience with SquareTrade phone insurance? Does it work well or is it a big hassle? Just looking for some input so we know our options if Tmobile doesn't protect it...http://www.squaretrade.com/smartphone

You mean the insurance thru asuron?? From what I researched they still make you pay a 130 deductible even tho the phone only cost 300-350
In planning on removing the plan. Not really worth it if I have to pay 130

Good point...I'm just worried about the glass backing that seems to be drawing a lot of controversy due to breakage.
The monthly fee for my insurance is covered through work, so I only have to pay the deductible, which means I don't have to worry about 2 years (or whatever) of the monthly fees adding up on top of the deductible.

I use Square Trade and very highly recommend them. I had a claim with them on my Nexus S and it was great. No deductible, super fast service, great communication. I get Square Trade warranties on all the electronics I buy now. Well worth it for sure.
The insurance you get through T-Mobile and all the other wireless carriers suck BIG TIME. They've sent me back refurbished phones multiple times, and have even lost another one in the mail somewhere. And on top of that, they've cancelled my insurance through them because THEY lost my phone. After two bad experiences with them, I started looking elsewhere -and that's how I found Square Trade.
Only thing about Square Trade is that they don't cover theft or lost and stolen phones. But I'd still recommend them to anyone for sure!

First, *lose
Second, that's insurance fraud and that's illegal and just plain wrong.

If you claim you lost the phone, T-Mobile will lock it and it will become a door stop.

Dude I'm in the same exact situation from a one s too I'm pretty sure our handset protection will cover it cause even in their website it shows me having a nexus 4 and the premium protection next to it and I went to a tmobile store and they popped in a atnt Sim card and it authorized it so tmobiles devices are unlocked and the same as the play store ones so it should be all cool

This is true. Assurion tried to charge me $150 to replace my Nexus One when I broke the screen. This was on top of the $6/month I had been paying them for insurance for the previous 8 months. So the total cost of replacement through Assurion came to $198. At that point I decided to call Google and they told me they would replace the phone for $140+shipping.
Naturally, I decided to go straight through Google for the replacement. The next day I called T-Mobile retention and raised hell about the situation, telling them that Assurion was a huge rip-off and that I wanted to cancel the insurance and have the previous 6 months of insurance payments to be credited back to my account. The representative was very helpful. She removed the insurance and credited the past 6 months of insurance payments to my account.
That experience taught me to avoid insurance for my Nexus devices. If you look around there are a couple of threads of people who have already broken their Nexus 4's and Google charged them $160 for a replacement. So I've decided just to put an extra $160 away (profit from selling the SIII) and if the phone breaks then I'm going straight to Google.

I'm replacing my n4 thru Asurion and i bought this one on clist brand new.
And the seller brought it from the play store.
My phone fell and my back screen has a bad crack... They're charging me 130$ but its on back order
Oh yea and I'm on T-Mobile

Got my claim through to asurion today because unless i scream into my call mic or put it on speaker others can not hear me outgoing or incoming.. Bought from play store.. They said hopefully by tomorrow since t-mobile did have stock recently i should receive a call to verify address and get my phone next day aired to me

If you have a Wells Fargo credit card, setting up an automatic payment will insure your phone up to $600 with a $25 deductible.

Any news?
I put mine in last Saturday I've been calling everyday and nothing.
T-Mobile had some and so did Google play... There's stores in my area with the phone in stock.... But Asurion doesn't have them??
They tell me that they get restocks every two to three days....but i call every day... I even told them to send me a s3 or a note 2(so I can trade for a n4) and they said no....i wish they'd hurry up

[Q] Returning Atrix to Best Buy?

I have a $10 a month protection plan on my Atrix through best buy with no deductible that covers accidental damage including water damage and cracked screens.
I have a couple of major issues with my phone and I'm considering taking it back. When I first got my phone I started noticing dust or dirt was getting inside of the front facing camera when it should be sealed. Also I was getting touch screen issues where the screen would press in the same spot rapidly by it's self and I'd have to turn off the screen to fix it, probably due to a corrupt PDS and I didn't know about backing it up when I first got my phone. Then a few weeks ago I dropped my phone on accident and the screen cracked and my back cover got scratched up.
I don't want to get the same phone back; because I have so many problems with it they likely won't fix it or they'll notice my device is unlocked and void my warranty. I was thinking about getting it fixed and flashing the stock SBF, will they be able to tell if I flashed the stock 4.5.91 SBF?
What do you recommend I do? I'll be getting a case and screen protector for sure when I get the phone fixed or replaced. Also would it be possible to return it and upgrade to the Galaxy S II or Galaxy Nexus/Nexus Prime on a 2-year contact without paying too much?
Thanks!
LOL. I did the same **** with my captivate. I rooted it then got sick of it so I bricked it and turned it on in the water to make sure that it fried up! LOL. That's how I got my atrix. Whatever the difference of the retail price is that's the difference in what you would pay. So maybe $50.00 + tax is all you would pay for sgs 2. Make sure you tell best buy you want another model when they junk out your atrix.

I also have best buy's $10 monthly warrenty. I bought a $40 broken atrix from Craigslist, brought it to BB and claimed it was mine. They took it without checking the iemi number. Half a week later, got a call from them informing me my new atrix is in. I'd say do it. Make sure you take the battery out first. They sent me a third party battery with only 1200 mah.

Did Best Buy give you a new phone or a refurbished one and did they hassle you at all about it? Also is the difference in price between the price you paid or the current retail price cause I got my Atrix for free and if I have to pay $200 for the Galaxy Nexus when it comes out then it's not worth it. Right now they have the Atrix 2 for $50, the Galaxy S II for $200 and the Galaxy Nexus will probably be $200 like all new high end smartphones.

How can I fry it so they give me a new one instead of trying to fix my current one and have a good excuse for not having the battery? I was going to drop it in water "accidently" but I don't want to go and explain why I don't have the battery and make it obvious I'm just trying to get a new phone. MOD EDIT: This is considered insurance fraud. It is illegal. Please do not advocate it or talk about it on XDA.
Also for those of you who look down on me for trying to screw Best Buy into giving me new phone, I'm paying $10 a month for a protection plan and I've given them thousands of dollars in phones, tvs, games, ect. so I don't view it as that bad but we all have different morals.
They sent me a brand new phone. Its still new in box on my desk as we speak. Just make up any BS story. Make sure its some male high school or college kid age. I find that they don't care and/or cool people.
As for the battery, just say "no offense. My friend has best buy warranty as well. They kept his OEM battery and got sent a third party one instead. I would like that not to happen to me." Or some **** like. At least that part would be honest.
No hassle. No charges or deductibles.

How is it insurance fraud? The BBY Black Tie plan is in no way any sort of insurance. It's a paid service offered by the company, nothing more.
It's the company's plan policy to accept the phone regardless of damage and if it cannot be repaired under the cost of replacing the phone then they repair it, otherwise it's replaced. Technically speaking, they shouldn't care as long as you've been paying for the plan. I've had it and dropped it in a toilet, subsequently frying the phone, told them that and they replaced it with a working refurb (after sending it off and their repair shop saying it the damage was irreparable). I've taken a phone in with "short battery life" and they've sent me a brand new one since they were out of refurbs.
Edit: Quite simply, it's the best phone replacement plan around... and it has no deductibles. I'd rather pay BBY $10 a month and guarantee that I got my phone replaced at no extra charge than pay AT&T $7 a month or whatever it is and still have to pay a deductible.

Waiting for 3 weeks to be told your smartphone isn't repairable, while they give u a flip phone and take off your data plans, that they can never set up correctly again...... I tried it 1 time. Ill take the deductible and 2 day turn around on phone replacement any day. BB black tie was a waste of my time and an insult.

Black tie is the best! They don't technically have refurbished phone. Its more like refreshed so their not giving you a toilet phone. Plus it doest matter if your phone is rooted unlocked bl or whatever. Plans still covers it.

Thanks for the advice!
From what I hear their plan allows you to upgrade your phone if it's broken and just pay the difference in price. The Atrix 2 for $50 looks nice but like the Atrix it'll probably be months before the bootloader is unlocked and developers really start working on it. The Galaxy Nexus would be perfect it it wasn'ti so big and the Galaxy S II is really nice but it's too expensive. The Captivate Glide looks nice and is supposed to come out sometime this year, I'm going to wait a bit.
Btw kenn, I don't see this as insurance fraud, my phone is already messed up, I just want to get a new one instead of having mine "fixed" and keep my current battery.

Sprint replace EVO WITHOUT charging a deductible?

So, In December I gave away my EVO, and picked up an Epic 4G Touch. Temporarily, im going back to the EVO (my moms) and plan on selling my E4GT to get as much money as I can for it now. My Epic is in pristine condition. And, its going to suck going back to an EVO, especially a beat up one. I do have full insurance. What are the chances that Sprint replaces it? Buttons stick. Maybe cracked in a few places. Do they still give out EVO's as replacements?
Insurance is not through sprint, it's through asurion. Sprint only deals with warranty claims, and since the damage on your phone is physical damage, your warranty is void, so you have to go through insurance.
And the chances of getting a replacement from Asurion without paying a deductible? Absolutely ZERO. Not sure why people think they are entitled to things for free...
And they may still have evo's, and they may not, it's pretty much week to week. If they don't have evo's you will likely get an evo 3d.
I pay for the insurance every month. I remember once time i dropped my phone and the screen cracked. I brought it to sprint and they said they will fix it....I waited there for 20 minutes and they came back out with a new phone for me and said it will cost 30 bucks, i paid cashed and i didnt get any sort of reciept or anything. very odd, but what ever.
In the summer i dropped my phone again and cracked the screen. I had to go thru aurison and had to pay 100 bucks and send in my old phone. Although i paid 100 bucks, its better than paying 500 for a brand new phone!
I think its a little odd how sprint does its insurance. My mom had an issue where her phone wouldn't connect to wifi and sprint made her go thru aurison and pay 100 bucks. kinda dumb.

I think the time you only paid $30 bucks, the guy pocketed that cash. Neither Sprint nor Asurion saw any part of that, but who cares, he fixed your phone and it cost you less than Asurion would have charged you.
I know guys at stores who do that stuff all the time. The no receipt is a dead giveaway.
Was about to say the same. I have had sprint replace the screen numerous times in the last 17mo. Never cost me a dime. Nor did the camera lens or speaker or bezel replacements they have performed in-store. I think you got hosed. I'd go ask for a refund if I were you, but alas, no receipt was given (first clue)

My wife replaced her phone just a little while ago through asurion, they sent her a Evo Design. She likes it, I would be pissed. So it looks like they might be out of EVO's. Now, I'm sure there will be 3 or 4 people saying "Oh I just got an EVO from them" cause that's the way the internet works. All I'm saying is, that's what happened to me.
I also heard that you can find new Evo's for as cheap as $50. I didn't look, that's just what my coworker told me from the last time he went to the Sprint store.

It's not that bad actually... No deductible, you can get a loaner phone... So if you can deal with an LG Optimus or the like for a few days... Its okay. Only caveats are no total immersion coverage... no coverage for theft or loss. If it's a warranty issue they still handle it the same. I took my design in because it went swimming in the toilet. It was operational but I didn't want a toilet phone... so I told them I spilled a beverage on it. Only problem was they didn't take out the sim card, as it's a world phone, and the replacement didn't have one. So i went to the sprint store and they gave me a new one.
I figured I've never lost a phone or had it stolen and I've broken screens on EVERY phone I've had... So i like the zero deductible.

I've had the same experience, I've had TEP since the day I bought my phone in Aug. of '10. In April of last year I dropped the Evo onto a tile floor and the screen shattered like a spider web, terrible. I took the phone to a non-corporate Sprint store/repair shop and when they looked up info on their computer the young lady said, "Oh, no charge, you have TEP". An hour later I had my phone back with a new screen. I was given a receipt that showed I had insurance and under charges it said: $0.00.
In Jan. of this year my phone had another broken screen and again I took it to the non-corporate owned Sprint sales/repair store and again they installed a new screen, gave me a receipt that had charges: $0.00. I was very pleased with Sprint and the repair station.
On Thursday my phone was in a leather clip on case hooked to my pants pocket when the case with phone in it fell to the floor. I picked it up and saw there was a single, diagonal break-line in the lower half of the screen. The non-corporate store I had used two times before had closed so I went to the Corp. store where I make all my phone purchases. (Sprint customer for over 13 years now) The "salesman" looked at the phone and told me, "We can fix it, pay us $100 and the screen will be replaced". I explained to him about the two times before the screen had been broken and it was fixed under TEP for NO CHARGE. He acted like I was an idiot and told me Sprint has NEVER replaced broken screens without charging $100. I again informed him of the two times mine had been replaced and he acted like he didn't believe me then told me if it had been fixed for no charge the people screwed up. I called a Manager over and related the story to him, his only answer was to show me a brochure saying that Asurion charges $100 to replace screens with large breaks in them. (as an aside: what in the hell difference does it make if the screen has a 1/2" break in the center of a screen or a 3"? The screen has to be replaced either way)
I left that Sprint store and drove to a corporate repair/sales store. The guy at the desk gave me the same spiel, "Sprint has always charged $100 to replace a screen". By this time I was getting angry, I held my temper and told him when I get this straightened out I'd drop in to inform him how things work. Today I researched and found there is a single non-corporate owned Sprint repair center in this city. They are closed today but I'm going there tomorrow to see if they will work with me.
What bothers me deeply is you, Scottspa74 have had the same experience I have several times. The broken screen is replaced with no charge. I read on this forum and the Sprint Users forum over and over again, "Sprint charges $100 to replace a screen under TEP-Asurion, always been that way, read the brochure and you'll see". What I DO know just as you DO is that we've had screens replaced several times with no charge. There was no crooked deal where we were asked to pay cash and given no receipt. Both times I received a printed out receipt giving all my Sprint info that showed I had insurance, and the charges were $0.00. I learned about the "no charge" policy either on XDA or SprintUsers last year so other people besides the 2 of us have replaced for no charge.
If I seem frustrated I am. What's worse is Radio Shack had the Evo4G LTE on sale through Saturday for $100 and I had made up my mind to get one and give up my all time favorite phone, the Evo4G. Now I'm waiting as I've got to fix the Evo OG so I can sell it.
If you or anyone has any ideas please pass them on. As I said, I'm going to the privately owned repair store tomorrow if at all possible.
Thanks,
D
The only problem I see with bringing it in to a sprint store is you have to unroot, or go to a stock, but that all depends on who's fixing your phone

If you were replying to me: The two times I took my rooted phone into a contracted Sprint repair shop they complimented me on my ROM and asked which one it was, so no problem there. When my screen become unresponsive in May I unrooted the EVO and installed the HTC Rom before taking it into the corporate store. The phone was exchanged with no charge as I said earlier. It was a malfunction of the phone hardware/screen and not a shattered screen problem.
best,
DC
It's 3$ for a digitizer on Amazon you can fix it yourself if you ever crack your screen

Insurance for the Nexus 4?

Just thinking, I'm not too worried about defects, Google will replace it for that. But reading about the nexus 4s slickness, and people dropping them makes me realize stuff happens. This is why I have insurance on my at&t account, but obviously that isn't going to mean much with a non at&t phone. Any third party companies that offer it?

Squaretrade is ridiculously overpriced given the cost of the n4 and the deductible they charge. Plus they offer cheaper coverage for iPhones which is irritating. Not recommended. If others have found reasonable insurance, I'd be interested.

My current plan through T-mobile is $6 a month with a $130 decuctible. What are you used to paying?

I think it's crap that I can't just pay $30 from square trade for a service plan with accidental coverage. Oh it's a phone. That means you need insurance and not a service plan. Who decides this crap? I got a service plan from square trade when I bought my HTC Flyer and it was $30, and what is a flyer? An oversized Desire HD!
I remember you used to be able to buy a service plan from best buy for a phone if you bought it from them, and now they have bend over and spread em insurance too! Really who decides this crap? Cell phones are pretty much in a class of their own with consumer electronics.
I guess I'll just go insurance free

i think i am going to get squaretrade before my 30 days are up. one of the things i like is you can cancel at any time and be refunded the rest of your money. or cancel and stop paying your seven bucks a month. you can also transfer it with the phone if you sell it and want to use the insurance as a perk.
has anyone else found anything better?
i just noted in a previous post that my phone just dropped 18" onto a rug with the bumper on and now my glass creaks. its only a matter of time i feel before something worse happens. and who knows... maybe google and lg will start building these things a bit better and with insurance we can swap it out.
I just think it's crap I can get a square trade warranty on a tablet for $30 that doesn't have a monthly fee and offers the exact same coverage but because the device is deemed small enough to be a phone I gotta pay a monthly fee

i completely agree. i wish some hardware replacements would start hitting the market. if i could price out the replacement parts i could weight out the pricing better. but i dont want to go past my 30 days and be forced into buying the parts from the internet when they could very well be pricier.
Check the threads were people have sent their phones back for repair. I'd rather save my money then send it back to LG for repair, if there is something that needs repair. One post I read said it was going to cost $140 to repair the cracked glass. Another one was $153. So paying someone $125 for 2 years and $99 deductible seems like its not worth it. The cost for a one time repair would have to exceed $224 to make it worth it.
This is what I got. Square trade $79.99 for 2 years and a $50 deductible.

I agree. Paying $125 on the chance that I break it and then have to pay another $99, for a total of $224, on a phone I bought for $300, doesn't seem quite worth it.
Of course, that's if it only breaks once. My wife is murder on phones, so figure that she breaks hers, say, three times in two years and that's $125 + $99 x 3 = $422. But then, if LG will repair it for about $150, then those three times only cost me $450, so the difference is still pretty negligible.
I'm going to get us both the Ballistic cases when they are released in a few weeks and hope for the best.

I got Square Trade. They are having a 35% off sale until December 26th.
Transmission sent from my badass Nexus 4.
I've had mixed experiences with Squaretrade. My biggest complaint is that they send your device to a repair depot that can take over a week to fix. In addition, if the repairs exceed the cost of the phone, they keep it.
Also, the last time I used them, they wanted my SIM card (I was having SIM identification problems). I personally refuse to send an active SIM card through the mail. They said that all of their customers are fine with it?
Anyways, I personally don't think it's cost effective to buy insurance for a cell phone at $299-$349. Just keep money aside if it breaks or is lost/stolen.
I'd like to know if any one has used these guys.
http://www.worthavegroup.com/cell-phone-insurance
on paper it seems like a good deal and good coverage... but I'd like to hear some stories about claims being a hassle or not.
I'm content with using SquareTrade as an "Insurance" for my Nexus 4.
SquareTrade: $125+$99=$224 (They even cover shipping)
Buying New Replacement: $349+Shipping
Plus with buying new, you have to take into consideration that the Nexus 4 is nearly impossible to get right now.
So you could be stuck without a phone for months, where with SquareTrade you get one quickly.
And "Part Replacement" is pointless IMO. You might crack the screen, spend $150 for a new screen. But what if you do more damage than just the screen.. more parts to buy
But that's just me. Plus if the phone is not repairable. They give you the full retail cost of the phone at time of purchase.
$79 Plan from SquareTrade the Indian guy from the SquareTrade Customer Service said the Nexus 4 is covered under this plan.
Or $99 Plan from SquareTrade will cover it too, (in case you don't want to take the chance that the $79 plan does not cover it.)

Free Galaxy Note 3......I'll take that!

Went to At&t retail store on the way home to pick up my Note 3....went thought the check out process with the Att rep and came to pay and she said "Well I guess its free". She had the manager come over and check and he said the same thing. Oh well good for me I guess...LOL :good:. And I high fived the rep as I left.
Yes I used my 2 year upgrade to get it. Also it was also a business account and it was not charged to the account (I checked)
Oh well just thought I would share....
Oh ya and I had to do some extra work to keep my unlimited data since they try to remove it no matter what now....I had to call 611 and have them reapply during the switch over to the new phone.

Tell you what, buy back your Note 2 and I'll take the free Note 3. You just got a more advanced phone for free and cash for your old one, how can you seriously be complaining? You're probably the only one who has gotten an absolute free N3 and aren't happy. That's like saying..oh no...I won the lottery but now I have to pay taxes on it, darn. -_-
how is that even possible? Did you have to renew your contract? Pay for the discounted price for the phone?
Free phone and you didnt pay for the insurance?!?! Man, it could have been double free later!

Ya I didn't want to add that to my companies monthly bill!
Are you sure it was free? There is a program called next where the sales tax is charged at point of sale and then an installment plan is added for 20 months...
There is also a bug right now at Corp stores where sometimes sales tax is not charged on a transaction...
I'm a great salesman and part of being one is knowing every deal and offer... that's the only way I know where the note would be free.
Don't get me wrong I love the next program but this sounds like possible bait and switch...
If this happened to you, you will notice a 35 dollar increase in you bill and a lack of the standard upgrade fee.
Trust me, I am a retail sales person at a Corp store. It sounds like they signed you up for next which is an installment plan that raises bill. It gives a one year upgrade option but it should only be sold to someone that wants it.

AT&T can waive the deductible if you ask. They replaced my Note2 twice & each time the rep waived the deductible.

Are you talking about AT&T replacing it or Asurion?
I called AT&T, instead of the insurance company. First time (headphone jack), the rep said it was still under AT&T's warranty. Second time (water damage), the rep said it would be a pain to go through the insurance company & they could replace it , but would have to charge the deductible. I asked could he waive it. He checked with the manager & he ok'd it, even sent the replacement overnight.

That makes more sense. I've never had an issue getting a phone replaced within a year from AT&T, some had physical damage to the housing. Water damage would be pretty iffy, but as long as you have documentation, I don't see how they can charge you. I've never paid for insurance, so I don't have experience with that process.
This thread has run its course. Clerical and pricing errors don't happen every day, congrats OP on a legit free device.

JUMP Upgrade vs Regular Upgrade

So I preordered mine over the phone thinking I was using my JUMP upgrade and inquired about my return label to send back my s5 and they told me they didn't do JUMP upgrades on the phone, it was treated as a regular upgrade. She told me I didn't have to send my phone back and could keep both so long as I continue to pay for both EIP.
I only have $300 left on it so I plan to pay it off and then sell it for $400-450. Talk about lucky (after a not so lucky preorder with the note 4). Anybody else have this happen to them? I'm wondering why JUMP is even worth it then if I can just finance the phone, upgrade whenever, and then sell the old one to pay off the EIP.

Wouldn't it be more economical to do square trade or whatever it's called instead of paying $10/mo.
Meh, considering it's an $800 phone if it even looks at me wrong I'd use jump to warranty it.

From what I can tell, JUMP is pretty much only a good option for people who don't want to go through the hassle of selling their phones.
i had the same thing happen to me. when i first joined tmobile i got the nexus 5 coming from a sprint note 2. the screen was just too small for me and i wanted to trade it in, but wasn't eligible to jump for another 2 months. the lady at the t-mobile store got me a note 3 and just added the EIP to my account. i then sold the N5 and paid it off. the best part was i was able to jump at my original 6 month anniversary and not 6 months from the note 3 purchase.
Just got my note 4 and need to send back my m8. Wanted to know if tmobile only needed the phone or do they also need the accessories that came with it? I want to keep the extra charger. Thanks.

Square trade? Isn't that the Costco thing? Or is that just square trade hooking up with Costco to do a deal thing... but anyways the reason I am going to get JUMP is because of the accidental protection but it does come with things like theft tracking and the upgrade thing which I don't know if I am going to use those *shrug*
but if there is more accidental coverage companies out there I would like to know, I know of the Samsung deal where you pay like $100 for like a year or something but the sdevice turn in is like $75 instead of like $50 for jump I think I look it up again

You can buy a square trade warranty online as long as it's been less than 30 days since you bought the phone. It's $99 for 2 years coverage but the deductible is $75. It won't pay your EIP off but you can get it fixed locally and they'll reimburse you or do overnight shipping for repairs/replacements. It covers all kinds of accident and damages but does not cover theft which is why it's cheaper. You gotta send a device back to get a fix or replacement.
The jump deductible is $175. I would only see it being beneficial for a stolen phone replacement/upgrade. Other than that I think ST is a better deal.

2. So Square Trade seems so much better... thanks for replying and info I will look into that!
3. Also this might be off topic sorry if so just pm the answer I guess... but how does stolen devices like phones work say you don't have the theft protection you just what file a report with local authorites and “they'll watch out for it” granted you probably have like the IMEI, serial numbers etc... and if they do find it you get it back yeah? Haha

EIP equipment installation plan (if you finance your phone).
I had my s4 stolen in April (good excuse to upgrade to s5!) and passed along my IMEI to the police. They report it to a database that pawn shops use to prevent sales. You can report it to Tmo to block it from being used on Tmo but unfortunately, they can flash it to other carriers and sell it through other means such as Craigslist or Ebay. Never got my stuff back

simple and easy just follow the steps and sign the new eip agreement, checkout and pay whatever fees then have to wait for it to be shipped. Didn't have to deal with a retail sales person.

Finance the phone?... you mean the monthly charges if you didn't pay for the phone fully? If so yeah I expected to pay that even if I didn't have the phone (physically) lol...
Anyways yeah that sucks but I just read an article about top things note 4 users should do when they get their phone and the first thing was to set the android device manager or something but it can be used for locate your device and also you can do other things like reset pin, full wipe, etc.. but my favorite make your phone ring for up to 5 minutes loudly so you can annoy the thief(s) xD but really the location of the device should come in handy if you do it right away don't wait like a day or something you know, ASAP when you lose your phone

They offer non-jump insurance for $2 less than jump. I had to remind them of that when they twice tried to Jump me without my consent.
I was able to jump my LG G3 to note 4 even though I only have my LG G3 for 2 months(paying monthly btw). I thought I have to wait every 6 months or pay half the price. Good thing I asked about my availability date to JUMP!!. Can't wait for my Note 4. back-ordered
No with JUMP, you can upgrade whenever you want. T-mobile will only pay for half of the phone that you're turning in. If you didn't pay for half of the phone then you'll have two EIPs on your account.
