Hey guys,
This is my first thread in the X8 forum and I want to add to the already friendly community.
This thread is for confessions and advice and is mainly aimed at bringing us closer together as a community.
How This Is Gonna Work
If you want to confess anything, be it good or bad, let us know by posting here. For example - If you want to confess that you've had a great day and met some amazing people, post it.
If you want to confess that you've done something which you really shouldn't have done which was bad, then go ahead and post it.
This is also an advice thread because at times, some of the confessions could be someone who really doesn't know what to do for the best. As we're a community, please help them out if you feel you can.
Thread Rules
*As always, Forum Rules apply as normal.
*No making harsh, perverted or racist concessions.
*No arguing with other people.
*No attacking other members, even if they've broken these rules.
*No making fun of other people's confessions or advice.
If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. If someone says something which offends you in any way, let me know via PM and I'll get it sorted. If any of the above rules are broken, you'll be getting reported immediately. After all, this thread is here to help us all so let's not do anything to get this thread closed down.
1. i should not have fought with QF
2. i am becoming more short tempered day by day... i become angry on every small thing
I confess I used to be a very patient guy. But time after time I find that patience quickly corroding.

One of the best thread to help out people's with life's complications, not just techie stuff......technology should be a helping part for life and not be allowed to take over it otherwise.
I fully support this thread, though I don't remember something to confess right now...

I confess that the night between last thursday and last friday was the worst night of my life. From around 18 on thursday to 12 on friday I had no idea if my brother was alive or if he had committed suicide.
This time, he didn't die. And the last text from him on the thursday said something about that he had woken up and realized he had cut both of his legs. And after that no one could call him or anything for 18 hours.
It made me realize how much I actually love him. something's to be wrong with me since I haven't realized it until he was almost dead...
Just had to write it somewhere, and this thread felt like the right place. So, now you guys and two of my closest friends know about it. Never imagined that I'd write something like this, on xda... but feels good to just write it somewhere.

Indeed it's good to right something like that. You can always say that to strangers.
@topic: I won't post what I want to confess today. My mind is just too relaxed to worry about anything else. Maybe tomorrow.

Well, the only thing we knew was that he had tried to commit suicide and got sent home from ER and after that no one knew if he had tried to commit suicide again.
So, basically everyone though he had tried to commit suicide again. And those from the ER sent the police to his home when they couldn't get in touch with him either, and the police brought him to somewhere they could keep an eye on him.
But they never notified anyone from the family, and we couldn't contact him. Pretty bad executed from the police... making someone that just tried to commit suicide completely impossible to contact and not saying anything to the family.
@Splux - There's nothing wrong with you at all, seriously.
The famous saying "We don't realize what we've got until it's gone" explains this perfectly.
A lot of people will take what we have for granted simply because we live around it every day and don't realize how important they are.
It really is a shame that most people are like this, but it's just human nature. Don't feel bad because it's really not your fault.
I hope your brother works out whatever problems he has so he stops feeling like suicide is the answer, because it's really not.
I confess, I need to get up off my lazy butt and go take some pictures for the Photography contest.

Hello everyone.
I confess that i am a very uninterested person and i get through everything in my life just by using my intelligence and manipulating skills.i never express my emotions and i love making sarcastic and ironic comments.
There are many more things i would like to share but i would rather publish my autobiography

Ahhhhh, home at last.
I confess that being confessionless for so long was confessingly confessious and since I'm confessing this confession thread is just what my confessions needed. (yes, I made most of those words up. )
So.... To be real....
I confess that I love the holidays and buying people things that make them smile. This year, I'm not really feeling it. I don't know why but it's a little depressing thinking about it.

I remember the good ol days when people just dropped by, downloaded some stuff, left nice comments and went about their day. Lately, bout the last month or so, the threads have been filled with "I donated a dollar, I want my ROM" or "can I get an ETA on this?" (which is the rudest question I've ever seen here) or just people arguing or one-upping each other. I fear we're losing the community-based friendliness of this site as the days go along.
As we can see, a few devs have had enough and already left. How much longer is everyone gonna keep this up? It's like I visited XDA one day and it turned into an AOL n00b forum. It sucks. I want the old XDA back where people didn't cry about CM missing deadlines (they just visited again later and if a new CM was up they were happy, if not they just came back later), people didn't complain about Damageless losing his job and having to focus on his life instead of ours, people simply enjoyed what was available instead of hounding devs about when stuff is coming out.... I must say it'll be released when it's released!
I just don't understand what's so difficult about giving those who give us the time of our lives time to breathe and enjoy their lives too. It shouldn't matter whether a "donation" of a $1 or $1000 is made - the devs (and some of the senior members, shucks, even like me) deserve a lot more respect than what's going around lately. At the end of the day, I just don't want to suffer for following the rules when others decide to wreck it for the rest of us.
Anyway, I just had to rant. I still <3 XDA and always will. This place really has changed my life forever.
That is very well said. Devs should be praised not hounded.

I have seen this before with Forums as the user-base grows and popularity increases, which Android brought many non technical users into the smartphone era, your impatient/arrogant/immature user-base grows as well and since they are still learning how things work but want it now since this is the era of entitlement your gonna get alot of asshats wanting there ROM now or there FIX now. It sucks but It happens.
One thing about XDA is its never been that user friendly or at least as long as I have been here. Seems like a few people come here just to be assholes. They know everything and even if you agree with them they will still act like dicks. With that said I try to stay out of those situations. Sit back in my thread and sometime comment on topics. Sorry but its true.
Try it, post something in the wrong thread by accident and see what happens.

This. The Evo was the first time that an android device really blew up with the non-technical crowd, and of course XDA has a reputation, so all of the new users came here. Unfortunanly, they don't really understand what it means to be a member of a development community though, and look at XDA like it's just another smartphone forum.

I've been guilty of wrong thread bashing myself it can be kinda fun. All depends on how out of place the topic is.
P_dub_S has it right. the market just expanded so much for androids. its like when blackberry came out with the Pearl and every teenage girl had one lol... most of the new phones arnt owned by tech people. hopefully in the fallowing months they will calm down. stil think the best forum was the xda section for the eris im just happy to have a phone lol so dont mind me
Most people just don't see how hard it is to make some of this stuff work. People must think that making roms/themes/kernels is just a bunch of copying and pasting or something...one thing that bugs the living hell out of me is on those Desire HD port threads...if the OP doesn't respond in 3 days, they just bump it saying something like "Well...I guess this is dead..." Devs ain't robots, something wrong with these people...

Exactly. What people don't understand is this is a hobby. We are not making a living doing this, and I do not get paid for this. Yes its true that we do receive donations but not NEARLY as many as I think people assume.
imho...these forums which used to be filled with great developers turned into a forums filled with the developers wanting compensation or in prettier words "beer money" for their time and effort instead of "joy and fun" or "hobby" of making roms and is slowly becoming more "pay-to-play" and if you don't pay, they take their business elsewhere to their own "pay-to-play" forums....just my own observation going from windows mobile development to android....

Not doubting you, but I'm curious (because I don't frequent other forums, or noticed anyone leaving), who took their "business" elsewhere, and where did they take it? I haven't really seen that - those donation links in the sigs have been around forever...

He is correct I have seen a few developers take their ROMs elsewhere (create their own website) but I'm not sure it was about money. I have donated to a few chiefs because I understand the time that goes into making these ROMs. Its time I could be spending with my kids. People seems to feel chiefs are obligated to do this for some reason. I do it because I like it not because I want to get paid. I get paid at work. When people complain at you all the time it turns it into work and then it isn't fun anymore.
Screw all of you....I payed my turkey sandwich and a hooker! I want my damn daily updates with a rom so spectacular that it will make me a full course meal.
Of course im playing but i cant help but agree with you. I find that i spend more time sorting through "non searchers" than anything else. I hope to see this calm down over the next year. Good thing about this is that people will only get smarter and simmer down....My car forums(g35driver.com) is getting worse as the car gets cheaper. More kids and ridiculousness.

You know I kinda debated about starting this thread but I finally read enough smartass-think-they-are-better-than-everyone-posts. Im a member on countless electonics forums with thousands of posts with the same user name I might add and this forum kinda tops them all as far as "rude people". Yes, I might be "newer" to these forums, but while most of you were in elementary school, I was working on computers, installing networks and doing competition car audio.
Now lets start.
Why were forums made? For the masses to gather and share information, ideas, buy & sell, meet others and just down right chat to one another. *And for people that got picked on in their school days and decide to be a jerk online because they want to feel better about themselves.*
It seems like almost every single thread I read there is someone that asks the "standard question" that has probably been answered numerous times and then you get the standard response. "Well if you would of read, you would know the answer." Instead of being a douche, you could of just typed the answer, gained more post counts and could of probably got your Thanks Meter up another notch.
I love the answer, "Thats what the search feature is for." Well I'm sure almost all of you have tried to search and maybe your search wasnt bigger than 3 letters which gets excluded or so many other queries come that dont get even come close to answering your question. Sometimes its like trying to find waldo in a book with really really big freaking pages.
Then the, "If you would of read the whole thread you would know the answer" response. Well jesus, do you guys realize how fast some of these threads move? Damn, I can make a post, go to bed, wake up and noticed during the overnight the thread gains 10+ pages. Now imagine you are someone new to this, you have read the stickies, done a few searches, got their phone rooted ok but then notice a bug so they ask the "standard question". Well when you have an ungodly amount of threads and an even bigger number of actual posts sometimes its like finding a needle in a haystack. When just asking a question (Which is what forums were made for) can sometimes save you hours of searching thousands of threads.
Some of the people on this forum just need to be patient and help people out, instead being an ASS. We were all newbies once. And we will all be newbies to some other subject in the future. "Can't we all just get along"
And before anyone does the standard flaming. No, this did not happen to me. Search my screen names for posts if you wish. I just hate seeing in almost every 500+ page thread were someone asks a question and the next few people have some sort of smartass answer.
Just be nice, answer the question and watch your Thanks Meter go up. Simple as that.
If people werent asking questions then these forums wouldnt even be a quarter of the size they are now.
Thanks for reading. Have a great day.
Also, thanks to all the Devs that have spent countless days and sleepless nights to help all of us have a more enjoyable experience with our phones.

Thanks bro, but you are right though, there is a little to much tension at times around here. I have been a member of this site for many years, I had another account but I forgot my name and password so I created this one about three years ago. My point is, I been coming here for over 5 years or so and I am on this site damn near every single day but I never post much if ever. I usually search for what I am looking for at best and then just move on while avoiding the stupid crap. I am also a member of sprintusers, ppcgeeks, androidforums and a few others and they all seem to have their fare share of idiots. Since xda is probably the largest site with the most traffic compared to the others I guess you run the risk of seeing more idiots here as well.
Well said sminker. If people do not like what people post they are just better off keeping it to themselves. Be part of solution not the problem.

Sir you are completely right. People can and will act completely different in this "Alternate Universe" than they will in real life. Why? Becuase they can and it makes them feel a little more "Alpha".
Hey I remember being new to a certain forum not this one though, and asking a simple question. The regular jerks of the forum proceeded to try to make me feel like an idiot. Needless to say my feelings weren't hurt but I guess it's that "Alpha Male" complex.

I want to just take a second and say thanks for ALL the support I have received from most of you since I started out here. I realize that Autism and Android were an unlikely pair but I thought it worked well.
Lately there has been an increasing level intolerance for what I was trying to do here. I know it's a vocal minority but they have become louder and louder. I have become quite disheartened as of late with the direction this forum has taken and I'm going to step back for a while. My ultimate goal is to further the spread of Autism Awareness and hopefully get Android4Autism launched by the end of the summer or early fall and so I'm going to redirect my efforts there.
I honestly had the best of intentions with everything I was doing here but it has apparently run it's course. Aside from asking you to "think about donating your old devices for the Android4Autism project (and I specifically said not until after everything was set up and legit so that everyone was protected) and votes, I never asked for anything. Despite the claims that have been made to the contrary about my intentions.
I want to thank everyone for voting for my blog but as you may notice the thread has been moved after being here for over 2 1/2 months. I realize that it was not "on topic" but it was a positive thread. I thought it was amazing how everyone unified and worked together for a common goal. I suspect that the vocal minority contributed to this and that saddens me. I'm not angry this happened, it's just that fact that some people would take it upon themselves to get this removed from our forums after all this time, instead of just not reading it.
I'm not looking for anything out of this. After all you have given to me, I felt I owed you an explanation for my decision. That's the very least I can do. I'll never be able to repay all the kindness and support you have shone to both me and my family. You have all made a difference in our lives. You have helped to spread awareness and for that I will forever be grateful.
Please don't turn this into a flame war either. I'll close the thread myself. I just want everyone to understand how grateful I am for everything and that my stepping back is my choice. My methods are becoming the target for some people and I won't change the way I'm doing things because I believe in what I'm doing. So the best thing is to just walk away. At least for now.
You all know where to find me and I'm happy to help. Please feel free to contact me through my blog or Google+ if you need anything and I will do whatever I can to help you.
Thanks again for everything. I'm very proud of what we were able to accomplish. Please help to keep this community moving forward.
Rob

Keep up the good work brother! Hopefully things will calm down here while you focus on your rom! I sent you a PM a while back... I may have some connections in the school (if you don’t already). Might help in pushing your rom on a local basis. Stay strong, God bless, and good luck in your endeavors!
From one medic to another... you're alright in my book!

Rob asked us to not turn it into a flaming thread, but you sure don't make it easy. Funny how you have been on xda 2 months, but have only posted 21 times and you choose to post on this... why are you trying to start something?

+1 no matter how kind and sincere you can be in a post there is always gonna be the one degenerate at the keyboard thinking "How can I dump on this guy."
As for the OP, keep up the good work bro
im not a homer by any means but when my Epic took a swim i was forced to boot my moment up and went back to SDX developers for roms..i REALLY wished the Epic would have caught on over there..just seems like a much better environment....this site has driven away quite a few developers..its a shame..thanks for everything you do rob.not just over here but with your Windows Mobile stuff over at PPCGeeks.if people cant tolerate your Autism Awareness, with all the good stuff you put out for the Epic, then this isnt the place for them..it shouldnt be the other way around...

Just as hard as it is to follow the forum rules. Say for instance that I considered the elimination of homosexualaity a "positive cause". Should I be allowed to push that agenda here at the cost of the owners of the site simply because I think this is a positive agenda? (According to some users, yes...)

Regardless of what Rob has given to us (the community) why does he not have to follow the rules of the forum? Why is it appropriate for him to come and complain that his thread was moved to the correct forum and he is quitting because he disagrees with the opinion of those that pay for and/or manager this resource to be available to us?
@dnathan13: Regarding your comment on my membership length here... What Android software have you developed in your lengthy membership in these forums?
Medic,
I got another one for you, like old times: "The best way to fight negative acts is with perseverance, love and the truth"
Stay the course my friend and don't let nobody tell you lies about the truth you cary...

Fail to see how pointing out that we must play by the rules the owners of this site set is "dumping on someone". It's reality, if you don't like it create your own forum and set the rules...
EDIT: I have nothing against Rob's cause and believe the thread is in the correct forum now...
Rob, I've supported you ever since I heard about you and your cause. You are one of the few members here that has gained my respect. I thank you for *Everything* you've done here.

Keep that head up Rob we are all still behind you. You showed us a piece of yourself and your family here and became a friend to most of us. Keep in mind one thing, you are dealing with a lot of minors on heee and they cant grasp the idea they are ****ting on you with some of the comments about your intentions. They arent mature enough to see how it comes out. The mature adults will remain on your side.
Never feel you asked for anything or too much. Your community came together to give you what you deserved without you asking for it.
Take a rest man play with those kids, your headed in the right direction with the autism awareness, families will benefit from your sweat!

Talking to Ropodope right now on Gtalk! This is what he says to everyone..
"Thank everyone who has ever thanked me, said a good word about me, and the untold pm's from those who have appreciated my no nonsense approach. They have all made me a better person and if not for them having a need, I would have never been in a position to fill it. Good luck, God bless them all and may their Evo's continue to rock!......Ropodope!
Lets get him back on XDA!
He may or may not have been racist. But, there are countless examples of him being short tempered and mean spirited. He was bad for this community's growth. Please, somebody, close this thread.

Really! okay
^ Yes. Go read through the Virus InfectedROM thread. He was even a jerk to dev because he didn't put out free releases fast enough, when Virus didn't even own a 4G. Virus eventually left.
If being harsh was grounds for a banning, I'd have been banned a LONG time ago.....

You are a sad excuse for a human being unkind sir. There is not a racist bone in Ropodope's body and you are a perfect example of the kind of people he was talking about. It is obvious to anyone with a brain to think which may be in short supply these days based on your post. Sad sad people I say. You know I never saw you make one post to him while he was on xda. Let's make a deal, you leave and bring Ropodope back. I would make that deal any time.

I never said he was racist, I said he was short tempered, and scared away new members to the community. I didn't like his style and I think the mods made a good decision. I never had a discussion with him because he never posted anything that couldn't be found by reading myself.
Edit: I have no idea why I keep posting in this thread. I will honor your guys' wishes. I am done posting in here.

Dude that was SOOOO long ago. Ropo from the looks of it changed a long time ago. That was WAAy in the past. Let it go.
Wow! The show of support for Ropodope in the EVO forums is overwhelming, & a nice change from the norm on these forums. I know Ropodope personally, we've met a few times for coffee & lunch. He is not a racist, & was wrongly accused and setup by two members that are on lifetime bans from this site for various reasons including racial comments & stealing other peoples work, not to mention stealing personal information to facilitate electronic wire fraud by hacking their donors' Paypal accounts with the purpose of stealing money.
My view of this whole situation of what led to Ropodope getting a lifetime ban is this: if the two low lifes (who are permanently banned from this site) had not circumvented the system by hiding behind VPN's in order to gain access to the site to facilitate engaging rope in a trolling fashion this never would have happened. Bottom line: if they hadn't been on the site rope would not have been banned, period.
Therefore I believe his ban should be lifted & his account restored to it's prior state.
Ropodope has an undying willingness to help people with their rooted EVOs, at times people that are either incapable of following simple instructions, or unwilling to actually do any research for themselves grate on his last nerve. And rightfully so, his knowledge of the EVO & Android in general come from months of research, and trial & error while trying different mods on his phone. Between the two of us there isn't a mod or tweak that we haven't tried on the EVO, trust me we've tried everything at least once at one time or another since rooting our phones.
So does rope come off as an ass sometimes? Sure, we all do. But he is more than willing to help anyone who will take the time to follow instructions and hopefully learn something along the way.
The last thing rope would ever be is a racist, opinionated yes, racist never.

And that is all Ropodope ever asked anyone to do, read & find the answer themselves just like he did.
Key words: "I didn't like his style" That is your opinion & you're entitled to it, but check his thanks meter & post count they tell an entirely different story, many people even PM'd him with thanks and/or apologized to him for making an ass of themselves in the development threads.

Guys we can kiss the Black render app for the Galaxy Note goodbye.. i was really looking forward to it nevermind... The good news is the official Samsung forums have taken note of the issues and they have passed on to HQ So hopefully there should be a fix coming soon
bummer, glad I returned my gnote. highly doubt Samsung will do anything about it either.

Best to keep on returning them till you get a good one, I was second time lucky, I love my Note
This is what happens when people complain and whine because they feel entitled to get everything from the devs. As nice as it would've been to have a fix from SuperC, you have to realize that he's releasing apps for soooooo many devices, he really is a truly awesome developer but he's still human and doesn't owe anyone a damn thing. If people want fixes for stuff then start reading and code you're own damn device or shut the hell up.

I won't go on and state how the flaming and the attitude that the devs work for us is BS. Every time I defend the devs or flamees I get a bad pm from a mod.

The thing is people didn't ask for the fix right now or even later, it was not a ETA question, but more like: was he still working on it or not, so people could move on and stop waiting for a fix that would never come.
That got him mad. I can understand that. Maybe he was in a bad mood or something.
It's true a couple of dumbass talked about spamming him to get him to move, and that was just so stupid I can't believe it happened.
Now everyone that was just genuinely hoping that the dream of a perfect screen would come true one day can just say goodbye to that.

The fact is, that he has every right to do as he pleases.
A fact is also that many good programmers are very bad in communication.
Maybe we should get a collection together or bounty for a dev to make an app for us, then if the app does not turn up, or does not work correctly working, no money.
Just a list of members names, everybody pays 10$ on completion of the app via paypal start a new thread just for this.
My Note works great, and i don't want to root it, so i don't really need the app myself it was just a thought.

So very true, but one in modern world will face repercussions for that.
SC can not be surprised for community backslash. He manifested such surprise.
Thats what happens when people put a slur a dev's character in a thread - I don't blame the bloke for closing it and wiping his hands with the Note Community, some of the posts were downright personal.
Come on People. Note doesn't ends here. Someone will step-in the shoe (one fine day). Besides there are other worlds to sing in.

nobody talked about spamming SuperC,what was suggested was to send him a PM so that people with this problem will show him that he should kindly assist and update the status of the project.it was made clear that nobody is spamming him and the Gnote owners are just desperatethis got him angry but yet an apology was rendered

Like anyone who says stuff on the internet, it has to be taken with a handful of salt but saying something as clear as that from a recognized dev DOES inspire hope in a fix.
Quit defending him. He's old enough to defend himself if he indeed feels he's being attacked, and by my standards he should've expected at least some reaction. Bait and switch will piss people off; according to the closed thread he was holding off for public ICS release because it was required for the app to work.
Personally, now that I have an S3, I can return the note under warranty for a fix.

I don't think he did anything wrong by closing the thread.
Some trolls wanted to 'seek attention' and started spamming the thread.
If there was NO solution, he would have closed it long ago.

Nono, it doesn't work like that. You just can't open a thread and say you will save the world, and then let it dye not answering doubts and questions from other users. Next time, FIND a solution first and THEN tell the world. OR accept people *****ing.
I can already see this thread will die an early death, how about people just stop *****ing and we are all friends again
