[Q] Default DPI? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know what it is for the Nexus 10? Was playing around with it, and didn't think to keep note of what it was at first
Edit: Nvm, it's 320

[Q] density change

have anyone succesfully tried to changed pixel density on our device? if you did, please leave a comment - i'd like to know which app and rom you used. thanks in advance.
btw. is it possible to lower the resolution on android devices? (resolution, not density, some people seem not to realise that these are two different things)

You can change densyti in build.prop about 140 and 150 looks very good but apps does not show properly.
Anybody know how to change resolution?

bump... how about the resolution? anyone?
i hear about the aplication that change density, but i have the same questions that you have guys, sorry about my english
wich is the best LCD Density for our X8 ?
i am gonna try to put 150 on mine, i think it would be better

Stop using lcd density line in ics!!!

I know that the most common way people have been switching between phone and tablet modes in AOSP builds of ICS is by changing the lcd density. Well, I'm here to tell you that there is an easier way to do it, and it doesn't create weird looking out-of-aspect-ratio artifacts in certain apps (like Google Music in portrait orientation in tablet mode).
So, in your build.prop, instead of using the traditional ro.sf.lcd_density= line, you can remove that entirely, and use:
ro.build.characteristics=
and after the "=" just put either tablet or phone.
That's it! Easy peasy!

Thanks for the tip mate
That was added in CNA v5 and i think it created problems and was changed back in v5.1.
Fyi, tablet mode changes the dpi to 160, at the moment i use 200 because 160 is a tad bit small for me.
Good tip tho, interested to see if it creates any issues with Imilika v8..

Great tip, although this really belongs in the "General" section.
Expect more from someone with almost a thousand posts...

So basically ICS has 2 modes, tablet mode and phone mode. To my understanding this is dependent on the dpi, anything lower than 213 dpi will display ICS in tablet mode i.e. 2 panes on most apps. Apparently 160 dpi is the official tablet mode..and i think 320 dpi is the standard phone mode. I currently run mine in 200 dpi and most apps show 2 panes.. I am sure there is a better explanation somewhere

So far, I haven't had any issues with Imilka's build. Then again, the stock keyboard still looks funky in portrait tablet mode, but that's nothing new. Everything else works perfectly.
More than anything, this fixes things like tablet portrait Google Music recent's.

Absolutely... i don't think just changing the build characteristics parameter to 'tablet' will give you true tablet mode...I guess it will help in apps like music etc where the controls are screwed up in tablet mode...did you try it btw, i mean keeping the DPI below 213 & setting the characteristics to tablet and then check the music app for e.g.
Can sum1 tell me plz ...
what shud i edit in build.prop in order to run gameloft games ...
bcz for default setting it sayz
" your device not compatble blah blah and request for refund "
Using ICS STUNNER ROM
Can ne1 help me out wid dis thing or wts the workaround for this ???

Pie speed and size?

Hey guys, I use using PA on my Nexus 4 up until the moment I traded up for the Nexus 5. Now that Pie is finally back I was going to switch to PA again, but a quick question, is there any way to edit the size and the speed of Pie like before? I liked how it instantly popped up and showed the time and date, etc. before but when I see videos on YouTube, it seems like you simple enable it and that's it. Can anyone clarify this for me please? Thanks!
There are no options at this time

[Q] Apps and games in "tablet" mode

Hello! I'm trying to play terraria in "tablet" mode. On my Nexus 7 i have 10 item slots but on galaxy core lte 5 slots I really want 10 slots on mobile because terraria lags as hell on nexus 7 after last update. I tried dpi change and app settings xposed module but no luck still 5 slots its annoying because on my friends noname chinese phone (same screen size 4,5') he has an option to enable those slots. Anyone have idea how to force apps and games to use tablet UI?
Anyone?

Can you please share your solution? I'm currently trying to force Terraria into tablet mode on my Nexus 5 ..

A lot of reviews complain about uneven performance -- has that changed since Nougat?

Recently lost my Nexus 7 (2013) and am looking for a replacement -- the best candidates seem to be the Asus ZenPad 3S 10 and the Huawei Mediapad M3. I'm leaning towards the ZenPad 3S 10, mostly because all the reviews for the Huawei mention great benchmarks but mediocre real-life performance -- and also that the interface is an unabashed iPad clone (really, no app drawer? What the eff!). But those reviews are from last year, and Nougat has since been released on the Mediapad M3. So has real life performance caught up with the potential of the processor? And is the EMUI 5.0 interface much improved? If I install the Google Now launcher, how close can I get to the vanilla experience? There's just not many accounts of the post-ANdroid 7 experience, so do tell!
Thanks in advance for any comments and advice.
App Drawer was introduced with EMUI 5 and is optional. You can switch between the standard startscreen style like it was before in EMUI 4 and the Drawer via menu setting.
Performance is fine and those problems reported with Android6/EMUI4 resulted IMHO only due to a powersaving profile setting which was activated by default.
In a follow up, did they fix the issue of apps defaulting to phone instead of tablet mode, e.g. Chrome?

No, but you can force tablet mode by using the 'small display setting' or by changing DPI settings.

Seriously, they didn't even fix it in the Nougat update? So you have to set the entire tablet to "small display" just to get apps to function properly? That might be a dealbreaker...

I use a screen resolution of 1200x1920 and a dpi of 320 and all my apps use tablet UI. The lower resolution adds over an hour to battery life and my old eyes can't tell the difference in resolution.

And that's something easily (and intended to be) done in the settings , or do you use adb or root your device?

Thanks, I just set the same resolution and DPI on my M3 using Easy DPI Changer.

I use adb to set both the screen resolution and dpi. My mediapad is not rooted. In Nougat you can change dpi setting in developer options. The lower 1920x1200 resolution is suppose to be able to be set in battery options, but it doesn't work in Nougat.
