that will not work..... I have to voice seach in google nav. and my seach bar does not have it as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667387
Not available in Canada currently because it only supports English.
found how to get it.. just do a seach on google for "com.google.android.voicesearch.apk" and download and install and it works.. copy it to your SD card to install it.
nevermind it just crashes out. worked on my x10 tho
here this version works
hmm... if you are talking about the Bell version it comes in the stock ROM
it's labelled as "Voice Dialler"
but it is not only voice dialing, when you speak to it, it comes back with search results for both software and contacts, if you execute either one, it launches the app, or it dials the contact

thanks it does work
Earlier today I change the sell code to english and ta-daaa: voice search appeared. I'm actually looking for a way to get rid of it right now
You lose all your data though. So if you're gonna try it, go ahead and back up. I use Titanium back up (I don't love it, though: you have to stay by the phone waiting to give the green like* everytime an app is being re-installed).
EDIT: *light
sell code?...
Hmmm, maybe that's not its name. Anyway: *#272*HHMM# change HHMM for your local time, so if it's 12:30 it should look like: *#272*1230#.
Once there, check the codes http: //samsung-firmware . webs . com / samsunglettercode . htm (remove blanks) and apply the english one.
i get only this page when i google sell code samsung... so i'm not sure if such a thing exist.
anyway the 272 trick doesn't work on my i9000.

Thanks,
Market didn't have "google commands" but it had "voice commands". Voice commands was listed as free but when i clicked on the link it said "not found"
I tried both appbrain and android market.
Anyone have the apk for voice command or google command?
I'm not exactly sure why voice input was removed, probably a combination of the fact that it doesn't support french and also that Samsung stripped out the default android keyboard (which has the microphone button) and replaced it with 2 far superior keyboards: their own, and swype. I guess that's the one downside of swype is you don't get the voice input button.
However Samsung did include Vlingo for free (I'm aware that Vlingo has since become free for all phones since the updated google voice commands were announced for froyo). Vlingo is actually far better than the google voice input (at least for 1.5-2.1) as it gives you commands as well as the text entry. You can also setup the Vlingo keyboard which is essentially the stock Android 2.1 keyboard including the mic button.
From what I can tell it detects words just as well as the google service. Vlingo lets you put widgets of any size (1x1 to full screen) so this kinda makes up for the missing mic button on the google search widget.
I would imagine when the 2.2 update comes out we will have the google function back with multi language support and commands!
well Nirvana388 beat me to it, i was going to recommend Vlingo as well

Thanks, but Vlingo requires internet right? My old phones had voice recognition without the requirement of internet.
Ravi84m suggested "google commands" because it doesn't require internet??

[Q] Changing Keyboard Help

Rooted Nook Color 1.43. Downloaded "Softkeyboard With Ctrl" but it doesn't show in apps. Google Play shows installed. I opened Keyboard in settings (Zeam Launcher) but saw no way to choose a different keyboard maybe because "Softkeyboard With Ctrl" isn't really installed. Just lost on this and need some direction. Is my problem it didn't really install. I saw it downloading or thought I did.
Try redownloading, it should show up in apps.

I think my previous post was unclear. If you mean apps on the NC the app doesn't show up on my list of apps when I choose apps from Zeam.
If you mean Google Play, My Apps, yes it is there but when I follow that to the app and click on install I get "No eligible Devices". Note it says Installed and does say it is installed and comparable with my device, It is when I click on "Installed" I get "No eligible devices".
This is where I'm stuck. I can't uninstall from the NC because it isn't listed and Google Play won't let me reinstall. Do I need to look in the file manager for it and delete or maybe download to my computer and side load but I'm new to tablets and am not sure how to do those things yet. I was hoping for a simple solution.
Final comment. I have installed apps before and no problem so this seems related to this specific install not a general fault of the NC.
Sideloading might be an option if you can find the APK. For me Zeam and stock were from way back and I can't remember what's where anymore, sorry I can't be any more help.

Well I learned something new. i have been accessing the Play Store from my computer because it is easier to navigate but I found going directly from my NC I was able to uninstall so I'm now reinstalling. I'll see what happens.
Well it is on the NC. Now to figure out how to set the default.

I read that in my initial Google for an answer but couldn't find it. Just looked again. All I have is Keyboard and it just has, Keyboard Sounds, Auto-capitalization, and Quick fixes. I see nothing in settings labeled Language and Inputs.

Thank you. Your answer led me to the crux of the problem. I found a page with a solution. I must move the APK and use Nook Tools to do the selection.

voice typing leeco lepro 3 stock rom

I have found instructions somewhere but lost it. So I need that microphone logo above keyboard and how you get it working? All the custom roms works nicely but this stock have to install something? I have 23s and gboard keyboard and google apk are installed.
Thanks.
nobody has done this? Howto get that microphone logo working with your android keyboard or gboard keyboard. Push that and write with your voice...
The Google app needs permission for the microphone. You also need to make sure the voice keyboard is active under keyboard and language settings.

Audible in Fire HD 8

Apparently, Audible should be built-in in my Fire HD 8 8th generation (Spain). But there isn’t any Audible icon or tab as it happens with Kindle ebooks. However, Audible can be found in Settings Apps (version 2060150110).
Alternatively, I have tried to download the Android app from Google Play but it ends up with an error.
I have spent hours with Audible customer service unsuccessfully, so any suggestion will be sincerely appreciated.
Can you use ADB? You could try
Code:
adb shell am start com.audible.application.kindle
to launch the app.
Thank you! Actually, I have never used ADB. But after reading your suggestion I researched a bit and I think I could try.

You can also download a number of “activity launcher” apps from the Play Store that can launch apps from your device. If that works, these can also create the missing shortcut for you.
Another thought, although unlikely since you talked to support, is that Audible is not available in your device’s region. This happens with Amazon Rapids in the UK for example. The app is installed and everything but simply does not show up because the service is not available.
Thanks again!
I have tried a few activity launchers (Activity Launcher, Nova Launcher and Launcher<3 so far) with the same result: a pitch black screen, sadly enough.
I thought the same about Audible not being available in this device’s region. However, I do not get a message saying that as with other Apps (e.g. FreeTime).
I will keep on trying and I will let you know if I can finally work it out.
