Problem with Viber - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
today I have installed Viber on my Nexus 4. The problem is, I can hear the ringing sound, but I can not hear the other side, when the person picks up the phone. With the regular call there is no such problem. Am I the only one with this issue?
Thanks

Having same issue here.

I have no issues, but I have CM10.1 nightly installed. Are you guys on stock 4.2 or 4.2.1?

Issue still not resolved. very annoying. i'm running 4.2.1 on a Nexus 4 16gb.

Its funny - the call works ok most of the time, some force closes though. BUT I cant hang up, viber doesnt let me, so I always have to tell the other person to!

Hi,
This is an official representative of Viber Media.
@Alexander.p.t. - Do you have stock or custom ROM? If it's custom, it might be a typical Custom ROM issue - some custom ROMs alter the microphone definitions of your phone, causing Viber not to recognize the phone's microphone properly. That is the reason that Viber cannot transmit your sound to the other side. We discussed this issue in detail with our users in this thread on XDA Forums: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25865775#post25865775
Please note that in that thread, a workaround was suggested *by a user* that seemed to have solved the problem for Galaxy S+S2 users.
@rkcckr - What device do you have? Did you try to uninstall>reinstall?
For further assistance please feel free to contact us, we'd be happy to assist.
Thanks,
Viber

Hi
I am using a Nexus 4, stock rom (4.2.1). I have reinstalled viber, cleaned cache etc.

Please note that Viber still does not officially support Nexus 4: http://bit.ly/Hm5k9p
We are working on full compatibility these days, and we hope to complete it soon. In our upcoming major update for Viber for Android, we hope that these problems will be fully resolved. We hope to release the update soon.

I have stock 4.2.1 and I have solved the problem by pressing the hold button 2 times!

WiFi Problem with my new Nexus 4

Hello, I got my nexus 4 three days ago and I'm facing a problem.
I can't seem to get realtime whatsapp notifications and when I go to the play store or YouTube my WiFi drops and it says connection time out retry and whatsapp messages take forever to receive. Is this a known bug in the nexus 4? Or should O replace my phone and get a new nexus with guarantee.
I'm currently using the march 18 Paranoid Android with Stock PA kernel, I'm not using any battery saver app (I'm using the same apps that I had on my S2) and none of them does anything to WiFi.
I flashed PA too fast after I got the phone but I think I was having this issue out of the box. I haven't changed DPI either.
Thanks in advance.
I tried changing kernel and nothing. Anyone? /:
There is a thread about it in general. But basically known bug, when on wifi and your phone screen is off (in deep sleep) you get delayed notifications or no notifications till you wake the device up.
In the android development section there is a kernel that fixes it for most (myself included.) on my phone and out so can't give links.

I posted my problem in PA thread and no1 seems to be having that problem like me, shouldn't franco's kernel have this issue fixed? Is that the only kernel that fixes that
I agree that it seems odd more people aren't complaining about it. I only really noticed it when I tried to use voip and the phone wouldn't ring when the screen was off.
So far only the one kernel I told you about fixes it. However Google is aware and working on a fix so in time all kernels will be fixed

Are the delayed notifications only a problem on wifi? What about when using HSPA+/3G?

Are you running 4.2.2 with a non .48 radio? AKA did you enable LTE on 4.2.2?
i don't know and i don't think so, i was on PA 4.2.2 when i tried 0.47, 0.33, 0.27(?), i tried almost all modems, then i tried stock 4.2.1 (i bought my nexus 4 with 4.2.2), then i tried CM RC1 but never worked. I hope i can make it work without changing it. Thanks for the reply.

If you did all that then I guess it is a hardware issue.
First for the sake of trying give it a good shake ,cause the earpiece might have slipped for less than a mm.
If that doesn't help then you will have to either RMA or open the device and perform an earpiece exchange.

Before you go swapping hardware I suggest you flash the full 4.2.2 stock image from Google. Bootloader, radio, everything. Then, check if the problem persists.

I bought the phone with Google's pure 4.2.2, tried also original 4.2.1. Same question as before? Is it possible that the problem will persist?
Its highly unlikely it's a hardware problem if you have audio with internet calling. As I said before, flash the full stock image including an wipe with fastboot.

RMA if you can before trying to change any hardware yourself, but this does sound like an earpiece problem
I'll try 4.2.2 stock. I'll keep you updated.
I had the same problem but it was fixed after I flashed the latest radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147194
Nothing worked (flashing/factory reset/downgrading) so I returned back the phone. The new one has no problem.
I had the same problem.. everything working fine in all apps except for normal calls. Even after resetting to stock Google image. After some digging I found the application Soundabout. It has an option to disable the check if a headphones has been inserted or not. After ticking the checkbox to disable the headphone check I could call again with the earpiece.
Funny thing tough, after reflasing my phone with CM 10.1 it still worked. Even on the stock Google image after re-enabling the headphones check I was able to make calls again with the earpiece. Really really strange problem.
You can find the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix&hl=nl
Altough you already replaced your phone it might be usefull for other people with the same problem.

Incoming call screen delay

Hi all.
I've been looking at different threads and a few people talk about it but not seen any fixes.
When I receive a call I get a 3-4 second delay before the screen wakes up meaning I don't know who is call or able to answer the call.
I'm running PA4 with r201 FK
If any one knows a fix please share.

Even we are facing similar issue on Note 2. Tried few things but issue still persists.
Seemingly got something to do with some service.
So it's not device related then?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Was just using my phone and tookna call, even when screen was on it still took a long time to show who was calling!?!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Seems to be getting worse! I have to wait for about 5 seconds now, or maybe it already did.
Does no one have a fix?
Thinking about reverting to stock to see if that fix's it then maybe flash each thing one at a time and see when it breaks.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
If you're playing around with kernel's and under clocking the CPU this can affect how quickly the phone wakes up. But my phone has a delay of a few seconds before I am am aware of a call coming in. Maybe it will be fixed in a future update.
Phone : Nexus 4 /Rom : cataclysm / Kernel : Stock.
I've only installed them the same as others but they don't seem to suffer the same problems.
Any one have any fixes?

If you have DU Battery Saver or any similar app which puts your device on low CPU usage upon locking, then uninstall it. It worked perfectly in my case.

Artifacts at boot

Hello, i just bought a nexus 10 and updated to android 4.4.4 but i noticed a weird thing that happen often when i power on the tablet. Before the google logo in the lower side of the screen im having strange artifacts / lines with strange pixels that disappears in an instant. I have recorded the thing and uploaded a video....tablet is stock locked and unrooted. Tablet works normally without any evident issues....why im seeing this artifacts before the google logo and how can i fix it? It is software or hardware related? Thank you very much i hope someone can help me here is the video :

I have noticed that on both 4.3 and 4.4. Wasn't there on 4.2.
Im not sure if the issue was there before updating since i just updated the tablet by ota to the last 4.4.4 as soon i get it. I tried a clean flash from stock and the artifacts on boot are still there...i cant flash other custom roms because im stock and locked....more infos are appreciated I would like to know if its normal and if its hardware or software issue
Thank you very much

Mine has always had that as well. I don't think it's that big of a deal since they disappear right away. Possibly a combination of hardware and software. Maybe due to the Mali GPU chip? I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Seems to be pretty common on this device. Now if they don't disappear, then that's a problem.

Yes the artifacts disappear after the google logo. This thing happen only with the stock rom or even with custom roms? Unfortunately i cant try since its a gift, i hope this artifacts are not sign of a hardware defect.

I was using SlimBean 4.2.2 correctly, but updating to SlimKat 4.4 this problem appeared, but I also updated TWRP from 2.6.3.0 to 2.7.10.
Same problem with others ROMS as Purity and RastaKat and different kernels as KTManta and Trinity.
Are you using TWRP or CWM?

Thanks for sharing your experience. Im using the stock recovery since my nexus 10 its stock locked and unrooted. So every nexus 10 owner who updated to kitkat would experience this thing...This issue has been reported to google? My retailer told me that i can RMA the device but if every Nexus 10 have this artifacts at boot then its useless to RMA.…also im new to the Nexus 10 forum as i own a nexus 7. This problem has been mentioned on other topics? Thank you

Ok, then this must be a problem with Google's sources (a GPU driver error?) because it is a common issue between different ROMs, Kernels and recoveries, but I do not know if Google has been notified.

[Q] CynogenMod - Stops Speaker and Mic

Hi,
Please help, have recently moved to CM from Dirty Unicorn, really really happy with it except one major problem I am having. Without knowledge the speaker and mic stops working. I only find out when I receive or make a call and I can hear nothing and the caller can hear nothing. If I reboot all is fine but it then fails again. Not sure on the time span but is with in an hour.
Any ideas?
Have tried to log into the CM forum but I never get the email saying im allowed to post lol

Sure, no worries.
The temporary solution is to disable the Google ChekinService (as per in the thread).
Good luck!
