Is it possible to port LG's custom UI to the Nexus 4 after the LGOG after it receives an update to 4.2? (this is just a a question, so please don't flame about why stock Android is better)

It is probably possible. It is probably even possible to port the LGOG's rom to the Nexus 4 right now even though it is ICS. To my knowledge capable of running ICS means capable of running JB.
But like you said, most people that have this phone are Android purists. And more importantly, the developers would more than likely be Android purists.

I would only port the battery and power management options from the optimus G (AKA ECO Mode). That would be worth the time and the effort.
why would you want to ruin your phone? the whole reason for a nexus is for a pure Google experience. if you like the LG UI then get an Optimus G
Reliant on the LG Optimus G getting a 4.2 update? Resurrect this project in 2014 then

I assume you don't even read the body of the post. Besides, the Nexus 4 is a lot cheaper for the same hardware and the ability to load a variety of roms is a plus, even if I choose to load an LG UI rom.

Hello,
Seems like Google's busy again huh?
Notable new features:
-Google Now enhanced
-Google Play enhanced
-Stock Video Player updated
-Project Road Runner to increase your battery life 3 folds
-and more!
Hopefully these improvements do not require any help from Samsung? Gawd if a new hwcomposer is needed etc then we will be out of luck since Samsung probably will ditch us after 4.1...
Let's hear your thoughts.

Sounds interesting. I can understand Project Roadrunner being legit. Android 4.1 is as smooth as a baby's arse, so improving the battery is understandable. If everything else is true, KLP is going to be amazing.

Rumours originated from a very accountable source that has been correct in predicting what Google will come out with in every android version so I guess this one is legit?

This is the I9100 forum, spam somewhere else.
I find it hard to believe that road runner will be implemented to every device that gets the update. Nexus devices most certainly (they get everything) but I think the development to bring that to every device that's able to receive KLP will be too great and time consuming.

It is very possible it could be ported but if it is and there's no official release from Samsung for the i9100 its going to be very hard for the devs to pull apart the sources from another device, (say the i9300) and try to merge it together for ours. Most likely miss alot of key features. Like with JB devs cannot manage to get butter working, and their only hope is when JB is officially released, but even then there's rumours going around that the s3 won't even have a properly working project butter.

The LG Optimus Nexus will be a monster of a phone with that quad core Krait. There really isn't much reason to buy any other phone for the foreseeable future, unless you want a 13MP camera which the Xperia T ably provides.

Precisely my point. If the LG is the only Nexus device released this time round (rumors point to 4 other devices by other brands), I can see XDAers gobbling up the LG Optimus Nexus.
The choice is much easier this time around, unlike the Galaxy Nexus which wasn't that much better spec wise than its contemporaries.

There's rumors of it as well, but personally at this current point in time I feel that the rumors for the LG Optimus Nexus are more "concrete",if that's the word for it.
Androidauthority has a write up on it:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-nexus-2-plus-gt-i9260-here-what-we-know-118932/
The specs don't look encouraging. It seems to be only a slight upgrade over the old i9250, and is packing a dual-core A9 CPU.
Now, I realize that not everyone goes for specs, but I'm a specs guy and the Optimus Nexus is the most exciting phone for me in quite a while. :fingers-crossed:

AFAIK, nobody knows how exactly it's supposed to work right? Maybe it's a rework of the software internals? If I have to guess, maybe it's a radical rewrite of the Dalvik VM to make it much more efficient, or aggressive optimization of Android OS itself.
There will be multiple nexus phones. Don't you guys read the latest news? The nexus program will see huge changes.

Not sure if this question has been answered yet or if there's already something in the works.
Has anyone heard or know of a Sense ROM thats being ported to the N4?
I do prefer AOSP over Sense any day but I love variety and switch it up up every now and then. Not to mention that I would love to see how the N4 handles it with its 4 cores and all..
Feel Free to post any Links, Rumors, Opinions, and/or leads on other similar topics.
With release of HTC M7 around the corner hopefully that will strike a match on Sense for N4!!
Thanks for your interst.
It would take an enormous amount of effort from a developer and there's pretty much no demand. So no there won't be a sense rom.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Yes it's totally possible. G1, G2, and Nexus one all had Sense roms despite being shipped with Vanilla Android. Sadly no devs here appear interested in porting Sense but, hopefully they'll port Sense 5.0. My only concern is that all the devices I mentioned I had were HTC and well they shared drivers with sister devices and this could mean a port will be challenging...

I believe you are incorrect. There is a demand for the sense rom. ATM their is not a version we can port effectively until sense 5 drops.

Don't get your hopes up. The Galaxy Nexus got a Sense 4 ROM but it was pre alpha and the project stopped fairly quickly as there wasn't much demand. (I mean, this is a Nexus, amirite???? AOSP is what most people want)

What ppl don't understand is that it's nice having options. Sure a majority of ppl prefer AOSP over Sense, but if one gets bored they have something new to try out & tweak. Whether it's Sense, TouchWiz, or MotoBlur.

The Nexus one had the same hardware as the HTC desire, barring different partitions and trackball. It was easy to port sense for that thing. Will be a lot harder on this phone.

It may be so but if a developer won't get as much audience compared AOSP then there's not much point in continuing and refining the ROM (squashing bugs etc). I wouldn't mind using a Sense port, and there is a good chance someone will take on the challenge, but it will likely get close to using as a daily driver.

Hey all,
I was just wondering: how would Gingerbread be on a Nexus 4? Comparing GB and JB on my old phone I think battery life would certainly gain a boost, just like how fluent everything is. Then again I like the JB UI way better, JB has more functions and more apps will be incompatible using GB.
What is your view?

That is impossible unless you're willing to build it and or make sure all drivers work as well and or reverse engineer the drivers to work on GB.
Plus why would you want GB? because of battery? Hell no, JB is much efficient and Android has matured enough.
Why will it never be done? Two words. "Project Butter"

Well, gingerbread isn't ideal to be honest.
However, a port of ICS or JB (4.1) can most likely boost the performance and battery life.
On the nexus 7, 4.1 ran better than 4.2 did. Performance and battery wise.

there's nothing wrong with the thought, I wondered too but you would have to reverse everything for it and its not worth it, but battery life is better on JB due to optimization, GB was single core days, also many apps may not be supported,
