If this is the same for everyone, I'm amazed it hasn't been noticed already..
When I hold my phone speaker up to my ear I hear what sounds like a cross between interference and buzzing/noise. The occurs whether I am making on phone call or else the phone if sitting in standby. I'm currently holding hope that this can be magically fixed by a firmware update, as of course, replacement is out of the question at the moment!
Has anyone else noticed this issue? Any ideas if it is a hardware defect or down to poor design?

I have an 8525 with ATT in the USA. Two days ago the speaker just stopped working. It won't ring, go to speakerphone, make any kind of sound. I'm wondering if hopefully it's just my ROM that it may not be compatible with but I've been using it successfully for 6 months now.
Does anybody know how to fix the speaker or if it can be fixed? I'm loathing having to look at my phone all the time to see if its ringing because the vibrations are also too subtle. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Unlikely to be the ROM
We'll rule out the volume setting (assume you checked that!)
You could try a hard reset to rule out any software issue.
However, I suspect it's the rear speaker connector that's popped off. It's common enough and only requires the rear casing to be removed. When re-assembling remember to align the macro toggle switch with the switch on the case. See here:

Warranty voiding of course.

PS. Rarely it can be the coil in the speaker has broken (really pretty rare)
hi,
as the title says, a friend of mine dropped his hd2 in the water, now the phone switches to speaker mode on each call. apart from that, there seem to be no issues.
anyone knows why this is, or how to fix this?

It's sounding like your USB port is damaged and shorted out with corrosion. Sounds like the same "Car Kit Mode" problem affecting some of us
Check the last few posts for the real reason this is happening http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619859
i think Long Press of the Green/Send key also answers calls in speaker mode...maybe some water/gunk under the button might be causing it to stick?
Hello everyone, time to report another issue (or not ?) I am having with my N4, and I need your help to see if it requires a return.
The microphone on my phone seems to give a ton of feedback when I am not in speaker mode. Whether I am using an earphone, or speaking directly with the phone on my ear.. tapping the microphone or breathing into it carries over pretty strongly into the earpiece. Some of my friends have said that I am sometimes pretty inaudible, I am guessing that's the microphone acting up.
Now I have read in some threads that the N4 microphone has a pretty high gain which often causes a distortion.. but I dont think this feedback is caused by that. Please correct me if I am wrong. Also, I have seen a few posts (not many) by people reporting this feedback.. but I am yet to come across anyone complaining about this when not using a earphone. Probably not many people start tapping their microphone while speaking on the phone.
Can anyone please tell me if you have faced this issue? If you haven't noticed.. can you please do me a favor and try it out ? Get on a call and check for microphone feedback by
a) using a earphone (not a hands-free headset)
and
2) speaking without a earphone with the phone on your ear.
I bought this in India with 1 year LG warranty.. and LG does not have the replacement policy which Play store gives. My seller has a 30 day replacement policy, and if I have to get advantage of that.. I need to call this in before 29th.
I am on stock ROM, Franco kernel r156 nightly. Build 513k, rev 11. Build Number JDQ39E.

Hi, Well I had an issue after rooting and installing all my apps , So I did a factory install rooted and started installing the app 1 by 1 and testing.
For me the issue was that if I was on a call and I pressed the speaker button my mic would stop working , even if i switched back , after extensive testing I found that ever time that happend the only was to make my mic work again would be task killer or manually clearing and restarting the phone app. I know it sounds strange but for those of you who have the same problem, try it you will see that you dont even need to reboot in order for the mic to start working again, But why the dailer?
Hey guys, so I've been having a horrible issue with this phone and I can't for the love of god find the reason behind it.
Sometimes my earpiece just doesn't work, be it for calls or anything else. In fact, if I press the play button on a whatsapp voice note and put the phone to my ear even though it turns the screen off it actually pauses the audio, which may already be an indicative that the problem isn't hardware related, as it would just keep playing with no sound coming out if the problem was the actual speaker. This problem comes and goes (but it's there 80% of the time) and when the earpiece works sound is loud and clear. When I reset the phone, it worked all the time, but as soon as I install my apps and all, problem comes back. I really need help to find out what's causing it... Is there a way for me to know if a specific process from some app is doing it? Has anyone had a similar problem??? My phone simply can't be used as a phone right now =(
If u r sure it is software related reflash the software via Odin

Also if you can tell me the name of that part above the phone it will a big help for me.
You never said what the actual problem is.
The earpiece was working? I have and issue sometimes work and sometimes not... Very rare
