Is there any way to back up your start menu icons/tiles for quickly restoring upon reformat or using another computer?
My start menu mainly consists of shortcuts to portable apps that reside on my skydrive. I frequently switch back and forth between my laptop and my desktop, and I'd like to be able to easily sync any changes I make to the start menu. Is there any way to do this?

Is this possible?
Settings -> Today -> Items and tick 'tasks', but when I come out, it shows nothing. I go back into settings and its unticked again.
I use the Tasks as my to do list, not to forget things, I miss not having it on my front page
unfortunately the tf3d disables the standard winmo home, so unless you don't remove the tf3d you can't use them
but probably there's some 3rd party program that can make them usable again.
You could use second today....Pretty sure it has support for tasks. Its free, just do a search on XDA_Devs
Hi everyone,
1st thread I startup.. I have the TMOUS HTC HD2.. While messing around with the phone I came upon the following.. It's a hassle to have to go to Settings then click on All Settings to try and get to Remove Programs, Bluetooth, Today Etc..
Here is a neat trick to have the All Settings Icons on your Start Menu.
1. Go to Settings/All Settings
2. Click and hold the Icon you want.
3. Select Move to top.. the icon remains in its original location..
Now go to your Start Menu and the Icon you had clicked on will now appear here!!
I included Images for better illustration on before and after, you can see i moved the Bluetooth Icon over. You can also delete the copied Icon from the Start Menu by simply holding it and selecting Move Down. It will not be deleted from the All Settings screen.
This is not that big of a deal but I figured it might make it easier for others as it does for me..
Check out screen shots..
There are a few threads all over the place about how you can get your mess of applications into alphabetical order using grid-view. I don't know of a way to sort it automatically, but if you want to you can do this:
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> TwLauncher -> Clear Data
This will completely reset your home screen to defaults (assuming stock launcher) - however you will find all your apps (system and user) neatly ordered in alphabetical order.
For most people I think recreating the home screen will be much easier than sorting every app alphabetically.
I've only tested this on the International version, so I'm not sure if it will work on other variants.
would be a bit of a pain to do this everytime you installed any application.
Shame there isnt a default setting as my partner ( for some crazy reason) likes the sideways scrolling rather then up and down.

Click to collapse
Yeh I prefer grid view too and doing this after every app install would be a nightmare. I typically use it once after a fresh install - mass install every app I want then reset TwLauncher. I arrange manually after that.
Hello,
Is there a way to reload the homescreen in sense via terminal command?
I have noticed that after titanium backup pro (3.8.9.2) performs a backup that it seems to reload sense... however I have noticed lately that upon reload the home screen is garbled up ( especially the bottom portion that shows (the up arrow for apps, phone, and the + icon)
am I alone?

Backup programs can't backup sense widgets. Only shortcuts. The exception is htc widgets sometimes work OK. forget why this is the case, but it has been explained somewhere on the forum before. Some technical stuff.
If you are talking about the Rosie (the bottom row of icons that has the dailer, all apps, and the plus sign), then that is a different story. That should be fine with all backup programs.
People recommend only restoring all missing apps. I restore missing apps, and only a few of the system apps (call logs, sms, alarms, bookmarks, etc). I usually restore sense too, and I don't have problems.
this "garbling" only seems to occur after a backup occurs and goes away with rebooting the phone.... so it doesnt appear that I would need to restore something from a backup.
That is why I was wondering if there was a way to restart the user interface in terminal instead of having to wait for the shutdown/reboot process.
also I just downloaded the latest titanium update, maybe this will help... find out in a couple of days...

You can just clear data in Application Manager in Settings and it should restart
kinda confused.
Home > MENU > SETTINGS > Applications > ALL tab
what specific application should be selected to be able to clear?

It's gonna be HTC Sense or launcher pro or what ever launcher you're using

Yes, but not with the stock launcher. Try "Go Launcher"
