Mine seems just fine.

Also slow on my Nexus 7
After using the flash loader located here on my Nexus 7 16gb, my wifi speeds have also ground to a halt (<1kbps).
Of possible note is my system is encrypted, which required me to sideload the included zip that contains the Supersu.apk and such. Don't think it matters, but you never know.
*Update*
I had the opportunity to mess with the tablet more at lunch. It looks like it's only Google's App store that's download inordinately slow. Web browsing is unaffected as far as my 15 minute checkout at Chick-fil-a can determine. Odd. Perhaps the issue is all on Google's end?

Hello all,
I have been having an issue with video playback. YouTube is decent most of the times, but I just tried using Netflix and every 5 or so seconds the audio will skip and the video will freeze, then catch back up. Really annoying and makes for a poor experience. Is this an issue on JB or something that I can easily fix?

I've probably watched at least 20 hours of Netflix content on my N7 so far and I have not seen so much as a single hiccup.
I don't know if your issue could be bandwidth related. I have about 12.5Mbps down at home, and have also streamed via WiFi hotspot on my Verizon S3 using LTE.

Definitely not a bandwidth issue. I have 30 down FiOS. Maybe I'll try reinstalling or try a different ROM. Could be related to the kernel I have as well.

I restored to a previous stock backup and still showing the same problems. This is annoying.

Very strange. My N7 is 100% stock ... not even unlocked or rooted.
The Netflix app is reported as version 1.8.1 build 573.

Mine is back to the stock ROM and it is still acting up. Not really sure whats going on. I have rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled and doesn't change it.

Maybe a hardware defect. Is your stock ROM a clean install?
Stock ROM was a nandroid backup. I don't know if it is a hardware defect. I refuse to exchange this over something like choppy Netflix playback. Simply for the reason that my tablet is extremely solid otherwise.

Apparently it was simply my Netflix settings were too high. I changed it online from best quality to better quality and it immediately fixed my issues. No more stuttering. I still find it hard to believe though that with a 30 meg down connection it has trouble streaming HD video.

I have the choppy playback problem too. I was getting this on my Kindle Fire with ICS and doing a factory reset and reinstall (still within ICS) fixed it. I tried the same on the N7 here with no luck.
I would do the quality thing, but it seems sad I would have to degrade the playback quality on all Netflix capable devices (the iPad 2, the 47" TV, etc) just to make it work and that still wouldn't explain why the Kindle Fire running the same version, with "slower" hardware would play just dandy.
I've tried both the Amazon version (Version 1.8.1) and the Play version (Version 1.8.1. Build 573) without any difference...they might be the same version, but when I went from Play to Amazon it wanted to "upgrade" me, so I uninstalled and did the Amazon one just to test.
Pretty sure it's not bandwidth either as I have 25mb down, 5mb up.
Personally, since everything else works awesome on my N7 and I have it completely set up the way I want now (rooted, all apps installed, etc) I think I'll pass on doing any other weird stuff to get Netflix working. Hopefully they will update it and fix it (yeah...kinda blaming Netflix for this)!
I have ever since I got my Nexus 7 I have also have this problem with my Transformer Prime where i try to download something but 99 percent of the time it fails, so I have to go down in the download app and hit retry repeatedly until it downloads correctly
Does anyone know a 6 to this or is it just me

Have you tried this on different wifi networks? It sounds like your connection is probably not reliable.

go to the devices main setting, apps, all, download manager.. now delete the data. now go ahead and download something, this should fix it.
If you close download manager and browser in the multitask/ app switcher thing it fails

Switching to WEP may solve it
I'd really like to help but i don't have much time right now. But i can give you something to start.
1. I'm not sure but N7 may not have all wi-fi modes because of production costs. Wi-fi b/g is there but no a/n. Maybe it has something to do with this. Your router could be broadcasting on a or n or something. Actually i'm not good at this. I'm just trying to give you some leads.
2. Setting your wi-fi password to WPA could cause some problems on some devices, not only N7. I've seen it on laptops, phones, some unimportant wi-fi enabled devices. Maybe if you could set it to WEP, your download problems could be solved. I don't have a N7 but my download problems solved everytime i switched to WEP.
I only got my n7 a couple of weeks ago and almost immediately updated to 4.2. I didn't notice any issues. Immediately after the 4.2.1 update I keep getting random connection issues. I have to turn wifi off and on to resolve it.

I had the issue.. 32gb version in the US with the sep build. I actually had it prior to to 4.2.1. I ended up going into advanced properties and changing wifi to always on. Drains battery, but fewer need to turn wifi off and back on.

Yes. I have WiFi disconnects and random reboots since the new update .

WiFi Fixer
I use WiFi Fixer downloaded from Google Play. When the connection is dropped it automatically reconnects after a second or two.
Same on my 7 WiFi stops working at random times turn WiFi off and on fixes it, only started after 4.2.1 update

Thanks for confirming everyone. I have wifi always on and still have the issue. Hopefully it gets fixed...

How do we make Google aware of these bugs?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
My WiFi is always on and tethered to my evo3d at least 8 hours a day. Not a single problem under 4.2.1.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Just to clarify, i'm having this problem 100% stock. Not rooted what so ever. Roms/kernels could have this eliminated. But I wouldn't know.

No wifi internet / e-mail / notifications after 4.2.1
I am having a similar issue. Stock Nexus 7, never rooted, installed the 4.2.1 update when it was pushed. Since then I can connect to wifi connections but there is no internet access. While the icon in the upper right has small flashing arrow like data is being sent back and forth, the icon remains gray and no internet-requiring services on the tablet work. I've tried everything that I (and Google Play and Asus support) could think of with no luck.
The only thing they could come up with at the end was to restore the tablet to factory settings. Unfortunately I have application data that I need to back up that I can't access by accessing the internal storage using my laptop (I'm stock, remember?).
So I'm between a rock and a hard place here. Anyone have any suggestions? It was very frustrating when the Asus representative suggested I use the built-in backup and restore feature:
Me: "That requires internet access to work right?
Asus representative: "Oh....right..."
My Wi-Fi on both my Nexus 7's is very slow. They stay connected fine but I'm getting about 150kbps download speeds. I factory reset one of them to no prevail. Anyone have any insight on this or heard of others with this issue? All my other devices work fine on the same Wi-Fi connection and I tried turning everything else off so just the Nexi where connected to see if the speeds are faster, but they aren't. I'm stock on both devices and both are the 16gb version, one older than the other.

Known issue. I logged a bug with Google and there's actually several open bugs reporting wifi issues. So far, none of the bugs are being picked up by google officially.

I've tried this same thing, and as soon as I installed 4.2, WiFi went to sh**. Completely stock.
So turning wifi off then on seems to be the generally excepted quick fix?

Or use Static IPs. That solved it for me. I had to ask my company to provide a reservation for my MAC Address. It's like back in the 90s when Wifi started coming out using the BellLabs/Lucent chipset.
Built AOSP and installed gapps 20130301 version. Google Now complains that the location service was off (but actually is on). Anyone got a solution?
Do you have both location access on? You need WiFi and mobile network location and the other location access.

Yes, both are on.

Hello, I just received the new 2013 Nexus 7 in the mail today. After setting it up, I was shocked at just how slow the internet speeds are, YouTube can't even run and even the smallest apps can't finish downloading. I tried to update to 4.4 but that didn't help either. I would really like to know if this is a software or wireless issue, or if I might need to return it, because right now the thing is just unusable.
Hmm... you'd have to ask in the forum for that device.
