umm no one?..
Rik[Rittik]

Good and versatile phone.
You won't find a device for same price with same specs.
Worst or basically non client support from Huawei.
This you can get only from the store you bought itand here you will have all the assistance needed.

it wont break screen easily rite?
Rik[Rittik]

The screen might be a bit difficult to brake, since if I am not mistaken there is some space between the plastic and the screen. But the device is made of plastic so if you drop it frequently it might have some problems. Noone can quarantee that your phone will be OK after a drop....
Official support sucks.
Its a armv7a.

You should probably look elsewhere. This phone is now getting on a bit and will most likely never have a working jelly bean ROM. Huawei has released some new phones like the Ascend G300 and the recent G330. They are better built, the G330 is much faster and they have official ICS. Might even get jelly bean at some point.

yea my other option is,g300
..but no official xda support still..well ita bad for a developer like me..but why are u guys waiting for official JB update? Use CM10 or Aokp..much better according to me..

Official XDA support - that's an oxymoron
By Jelly Bean I meant any Jelly Bean. The new Ascend models have a good chance to receive an official update at some point.

Devs can easily port CM10 i.e 4.1.3 To X5 easily..it has enough horsepower to run it smoothly ...my galaxy mini runs CM10 smoothly..with Oc upto 768mhz only..

Save your money and don't but Huawei. Go for a Samsung our something

Its armv7... It is dependant on whether model it is. You don't want to have the U8800H since it has limited support.

My honest opinion is if you can't afford the very cheap nexus 4 then there is no doubt that this is the phone you definitely want. It is really durable especially the scratch proof screen (Mine has never been scratched) but dropping any phone on a marble would do some sort of damage. Yes its arm 7 and the service center varies between country as one is located in each I think? The one in my country (New Zealand) is extremely good. Mine got hard bricked and they had it back to me within a week of me taking it into the store I bought it from and they gave me a free micro sd because the first time they sent it back the camera told me it couldn't be found. And if you are wanting to get into developing yourself then I 100% recommend this phone to you. Hope this has helped your decision.

Yea Ty guys..Got my x5 pro

Will Samsung skip ICS and give us JB straight?

I really doubt it will comes true... but worth of dreaming....
I hope so
Im guessing Sammy and Moto got the PDK beta a month or two ago, so while it is actually possible; in my mind, I know better to than to get my hopes up.

3 months according to google, but if anything is to arrive with Jellybean it will be the Note 2 or possibly a nexus successor.
Doubt it, they have announced ICS to be released between July and August, so why would they turn sround and decide to give us JB.

The only way to have JB on our tab is to help the only one developer that worked hard on a CM9 porting
He needs donation since his tab is broken:

No disrespect but i think he was asking about stock JB not a modified ROM built from ICS/JB , not a lot of us are instered in mofied ROMS
Is that a trick question? Lets get ICS first

Well there's another dev working at the tab that I know of, Sk806.
So Locera, SK806, that's two... Still not much but value both of them.
We should be happy we get ICS, it will just make us think we got a new device,
and the step to JB won't be that hard for the devs then.. I guess..I hope.. I don't care I want ICS now please, this HC feels sluggish.

The nexus 7 pretty much rendered the tab 7.7 obsolete when it comes to software (and speed due to software optimization alone) . There's no salesman in the world that could sell it to a customer instead of the nexus 7.

Skip ics. I'm running jelly bean on my galaxy nexus and I can say unequivocally that it's hands down better. I can't believe the difference.

Nope, sadly. I'd like to keep this tab for awhile longer and it would be nice if Samsung showed up Apple and keeps updating it (and other recent Galaxy devices) for at least one more version. But, nah. Maybe it will be easier for someone to port 4.1 when the 4.0 source eventually gets out?
But if not...**** it, who cares. A few interface tweaks and some nice features, but the 7.7 will still be highly usable with ICS, I would say.
Theoretically the binary blob drivers that come with ICS source should be able to be used in JB builds? I'm guessing
The main obstacle in current ICS dev is lack of ICS drivers esp as they are closed sammy blobs

Unless of course he is traveling salesman. Travel with Nexus 7 is somewhat restricted to about 100 meters.
I see no technical reason why the 7.7 should not be able to run JB unless JB needs 2Gb of memory.

Jelly Belly (yes i ment to say belly and not bean) does not need to have 2 gb of RAM. I hope ICS helps out the 7.7 but i also ordered a nexus 7 to see what it can offer for the price.

I was thinking the same thing. And hoping it is indeed the case.

Just bought one off eBay, are they OK?

Hi All
Just bought a 64gb one off fleabay for not much more than 100 quid. It was my fault I know the build quality is good so I bought it off the spec. Reading the posts here should I be sticking it back on Fleabay?
I see Lenovo have released a Vanilla of ICS but my question is; is it a good release?
Which flavour of ICS works best? Does anyone know if Jellybean will be released?
Thanks
Paul

Do you have the K1 or the Thinkpad Tablet? All of the Lenovo devices have been sharing this forum (because there's not enough of us for a forum for each device).
This thread is about the Jellybean/CM10 build for the Thinkpad: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846044
This is standard Jellybean for K1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842262

Make sure you flash the right rom for the device you have. It probably wouldn't brick it to flash the wrong one but it would be unusable until you found/flashed the correct rom.

[Discussion] Jelly Bean on Xperia Play

So we have had unofficial versions of jellybean for a while now. All the way back to the jbx think tank. Now I hear there is a possibility for a Jellybean update(POSSIBLE. Please don't spam this thread saying "Jellybean never! Muahaha! And ect.) now that firmware has been finally certified for the first time in many months! Now let's get discussing! What are your thoughts on these things? Not just an official update but Jellybean in general.
They might release jellybean 4.1 (or 4.2 because theyre a bit late )
Because it has better performance and they already had some full ics builds
But i think itll last some time until theyre out
I expect a good performance because theyre getting paid for this stuff.
I think it will be possible if Sony will work with devs to get everything too 100% mainly the touchpad though

Just a theory, but i also hope that theyll release jb
Sorry but I don't think an official jellybean update will happen. They just announced their update plans concerning jellybean and some newer and more powerful devices ( arc s for example) won't be updated. More info on xperiablog.net.
So the new firmware might be for a superlate ICS update or just nothing really.
But I don't care because xda devs have made an amazing job to bring jellybean to our devices. Cosmicdan, cj360, farenheith and all the others, you guys worked very hard to get the most of this abandoned phone. Many devs naturally moved on to other devices, but you stayed for this very special and unique device which did not receive the official support it deserved.
So thank you guys, I won t be buying another Sony phone before long I think because of their catastrophic update policy ( and it doesnt seem it gets better), but you made me and still make me very happy with my phone.

You think sony's update policy is bad? You should see Nokia's, they are notorious for abandoning devices within months of their release. Probably why they've all but disappeared from the cellphone competition. Coming from Nokia handset's, N-gage, N900 etc, I'd say sony is a God Send.
Actually from my experience they are all bad in term of updates. I can only recommend Google Nexus devices, although Samsung devices come close because they don't lock their bootloaders, if it is, its usually Verizon or ATT.
For now I will only buy a Nexus device or an Xperia Play 2.

I'm not a big fan of either verizon or s.e. for the lack of support for this underdog of a phone. but the devs here obviously showed both of them that when you work together as one you can give people what they want...& thats the freedom of choice.

Anyways, I have spent the past few hours reading this forum trying to come up with a play of what to do when I comes in. I want to put ICS or Jelly Bean on it mainly because I want to have the virtual back and home buttons. I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

If u want emulation, remember that FPSe and Mupen64 got touchpad support ONLY on ICS and +.
So just flash last CM9.1 FXP 152 + farenheit fix and you're done.
Unfortunely, JB is still no go for us, because touchpad causes lag, nobody knows the reason. Except touchpad, JB is 100% funcional tough..

The best rom thus far...
The best one I tried so far is this one
The gapps work (when flashed)
The SIM Card works (nice)
Relatively Stable
Fast Bootup
CyangenMod Based.
You do need an unlocked BL
I tried others like SlimBean but it was too buggy and the gapps kept failing on me.
Recommend giving this a try.

Need some reviews on this phone

I might buy this phone but the company is not famous in my country so was skeptical about it. Just want your reviews guys and its pro's and con's.. Is there any scope of having cm7,9,10 on this phone and is the phone "sources" friendly?
THANKS!
I'm sorry, but you have to be more specific, because there are several models of this phone:
Huawei Ideos X5, or the U8800
Huawei Ideos X5 Pro, or the U8800Pro
U8800-51, which in turn is also called "Impulse 4G"
All in all, you'd be foolish to purchase the original version, which I own, aka. the regular Ideos X5 (U8800). The phone was, for its price, rather excellent, but it is quite outdated at this point. You may want to consider the pro model if it's in your price range as it has official Android ICS, but I'd suggest you to look into Sony Xperia U. This phone was denied official JB, but it still officially has ICS at a low price point with a nice developer base. Don't take my word for this, as I don't actually own this device, though.
Note: The regular version, U8800 has a stable ICS ROM as well, built by dzo. As Huawei abandoned us on 2,2 Froyo with an unfinished 2,3 Gingerbread beta, we are all grateful for dzo for his efforts. (Among other developers)

It's good enough for daily usage and we've struck lucky with some very dedicated developers (like dzo), but from what I've gathered so far this phone is a nightmare to develop for. You sometimes get the feeling that Huawei has been rummaging around in the wheely bin outside the factory, looking for parts to put in there. Even for the exact same model, there seem to be several hardware revisions.
If you can get it, the Ascend G300 and G330 are much better options. Better built and the G330 might get official Jelly Bean if Huawei continues with one update per phone (X5 got GB, Honour and G300 got ICS).

Jelly Bean for P6810

There are a few threads about Jelly Bean being here at last for the 7.7, well, as far as I can tell, it isn't. It is here for the P6800, but nothing for the P6810.
Is there a cogent reason for this? Or is it simply another example of the ineptitude and basic incompetence of a company that has grown too large too quickly and is simply rolling on under the weight of its own inertia?
If anyone knows anything about (official) JB for the P6810 can they put me right?
It certainly coming this month, cant you think straight? Once they realease for p6800 they should do one for 6810 cause they arw the same
And the question you should ask yourself is why did you buh p6810 in the first place

Why would I buy a 3g tablet when it is much more expensive and I have a smartphone to which I can tether?
Every so often it is nice to let off a bit of steam. Since the official UK ICS update has only just come through I don't feel too far off the mark on my coments about Samsung and a JB release.

well, I really want to keep this tablet cause of the amoled display ... but it sucks to got still ICS on a so powerfull tablet that could change from night and day from a simple software update...I hope samsung is not going to release another amoled tab and is doing that just to avoid that people keep their 'obsolete' tablets.... I really hope NO... cause the p6800,P6810 are really WELL MADE and they sold them under their real cost of production 'thanks' to apple ban!
if this tablet was not banned by apple crying it could have sold out completely beeing the best made tablet still today ... the thinner one ... the only with a full Aluminum body assembled PEFECTLY!
that's a tablet ... now samsung give us the REAL software to move that thing
They just keep pushing the JB release for the 6810 further out........... Sucks cause I liked the 7.7 alot. But it might just be time to move on!
