Note - My Droid X devices are now just spare WiFi media devices. I have two Droid X devices both rooted and running 4.5.605.Accurate_Battery (2.3.3 Android).
Within both devices I repaired the power button. There is a L shaped bracket that holds the power button switch. I just needed to bend that bracket back where it belongs.
One device that has WiFi problems has a good Camera button. The other device that has good WiFi has a camera button that went bad. So I switched out the good switch from the device that has WiFi problem to the other device with better WiFi. What I like to do is find a spare camera switch for Droid X but don't know where to find.
So where do I find a spare Droid X camera switch?
I also have one bar WiFi connection from the Droid X device that has problems with WiFi. And the other Droid X, at the same place, has all bars for WiFi. How to fix or replace the WiFi antenna within the Droid X that has WiFi problems?
Need Camera button if I am going to flash ROM within Bootstrapper Reboot Recovery in the future with the bad WiFi device. Although I could and did just switched the good switch back and forth between the two devices to flash ROM within Bootstrapper Reboot Recovery, it is better to have good switches within both devices.
And without using WiFi the WiFi problem Droid X Device usage is very limited. So if I can fix the WiFi antenna problem then that WiFi problem device becomes very useful.

I found this site for Droid X parts:
http://www.cellulardr.com/motorola-mb810-droidx-parts-accessories.html
They have the camera switch for $15.00. Sweet.
Has anyone repaired WiFi on their Droid X?

I took apart one my hw6515a smartphones and gave the faceplate to my sister's boyfriend who paints at a body shop. He painted it blue to match my truck although i believe the paint he used was for a 2000 Acura. Regardless it looks awesome, however that is all it does. It boots up and you can tell that because of the sound and you can blindly make calls. However as the title of this thread reads the screen is all white from the moment you turn it on. It was working before I disassembled it. I have done computer repair for a living for the past 10 years and I thought I was careful with the motherboard and the other PCB. Anyone with experience with this please reply, thanks! Not sure if I somehow damaged the screen or I am hoping there is some little nuance I overlooked during reassembly. It was kind of a pain in the butt trying to connect the screens ZIF connector because it and the speaker wires are short and so they have to be reinserted while this case is almost all the way closed.
A little about me + if you want to by the HP smart phones: I have known of xda-developers.com for years but haven’t had the time to participate in the community up until recently. Two weeks ago I decided to try out wm65 and it it awesome! However flashlite 3.1 was working with all browsers on my original Fuze firmware and now it is not, anyway I am ranting, I need to go to the proper post for that...
I have a (3) hw6515a's. Actually I have 4 but two of them are broke and together can make 1 full phone. If someone wants to make an offer to buy them with all the goodies that originally came with them feel free! I love HTC and currently use a Fuze and a Tilt (aka Raphael) both running WM6.5 . I just sold my 8525's and have had earlier HTC's as well. OK enough confessing of my love for HTC. I have taken a picture of the blue HP using my Fuze's camera in case anyone is interested in making an offer and it is attached below. The HP is a nice lightweight smartphone with GPS built in however the 240 x 240 px screen can prevent you from using some apps the way you want although i downloaded a fix off that allows you to run apps designed for 320 x 240 px. OK I am gone, sorry for the blathering; my mind has not been working properly the last few days.
Sounds like a connection to the screen is not right.
there is only 1 connection for the monitor
That connection is a small zif connector. I have tried reconnecting it multiple times.

Hi all. I've been a long time lurker here.
I've got a friend with a Droid 2. He cracked the digitizer on his Droid 2. I told him I would make an attempt to replace it for him. In the process of replacing the digitizer, i accidentally broke the main flex cable. I was not able to find a Droid 2 replacement for the flex cable but noticed that the original Droid shared a very similar looking cable. (As well as sharing some of the same hardware). I ordered one of those and replaced it as well.
The phone is now up and functioning but the LCD is extremely dim, even at max brightness. I assume that perhaps the ambient light sensor has changed. During bootup, the motorola logo seems to be at normal brightness. Is there some software solution to force the brightness higher, or does anyone know of a site that stocks a decent amount of Droid 2 parts?
Any ideas would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance
Hi all,
I recently purchased an MK808B. Ive had a few issues with reboots.
If I try to add a bookmark to the default internet browser the device reboots. This wasnt a major issue so I downloaded Google Chrome. The device has now rebooted multiple times when trying to open some apps. Most notably when trying to open Facebook.
The WIFI signal is poor, my router is within 3 feet of the TV and I get a strong signal on other Android devices. Is there something I can do to improve the signal strength?
The device isn’t rooted. I have read on Geekbuying's blog how to do it and it seems straight forward enough but is there a better way to root? Can someone recommend a custom ROM. I have read about a couple of roms on this forum and ona couple of others. Should I flash the stock rom from geekbuyings blog? Does anyone know about Finless rom?
Also is there a default way to power off the device?
The reboot issue sounds like a power supply problem. If your PSU is too weak your device will reboot randomly when using.
Yea this is common using the stock power adapter. Those Chinese adapters aren't known for being accurate or stable.
Try powering from a PC USB or a spare name brand charger with a 1A+ output. Fixed mine.
There are lots of wifi antenna mods. Basically they did a horrible job soldering. They shorted the ground with the positive on many of them. These are dual antenna. One of mine was shorted. I fixed it by just pulling off the ground completely. I eventually removed all built in antennas and added one from an old router. Full signal now, but no where near pocketable anymore. Haha.
Most people drill a hole in the case and make a cable come out and back in... like a mushroom shape.
My favorite firmware is the Minix Hybrid by lewry. Newer ones come rooted and have a custom kernel too. Very fast and stable. Use the 720 versions. The 1080 makes things too small. You don't need to be rooted to flash roms. You flash the chips using a program.
To flash... CHECK CABLE. Mine will charge but doesn't pass data. Took me a while to figure that out.
Disconnect all USB. Hold down the little hidden button with a paper clip THEN connect the OTG port to the PC (this will also supply power). Holding the paperclip in WHILE plugging in the OTG cable is a challenge. You'll hear the PC ding immediately and ready to flash.

Im looking to fully set up my old Droid X phone as a dedicated car interface, for the usual, music, gps, car cam.
I do not plan to use the dock, as i dont plan to spend any additional money on this project, I just want to re-purpose my old droid. I used the base of an old Eye toy (ps3 cam) and put some holes in the battery cover of my droid, then used small screws to mount to base (has swivel and can adjust up and down). Works great (can screw to dash when I need to or glue). I can easy of course unscrew it and use it with normal dock if I get one, but it works good so far.
Im currently using an older version of liquidsmooth, which i removed many of the apps I dont need, and added some I wanted (offline maps, car dock app). I also set it up to wake on power, and to keep screen on while charging. When it stops charging (i turn vehicle off) the screen turns off and after 5 secs it enters sleep mode.
I was wondering which rom you would choose to use for such a project and what you would do to save on power.
Also any suggestions for apps (offline only) would be good. Ill post some pics soon.
Hello, I've had this phone for about 3 months now, and about a week ago it would not charge when plugged in. Whenever I plug it in, it says USB charging or AC charging, and barely charges. I also noticed that when I plug it in the computer, it will not identify the device. I have tried all the basic steps, from resetting the phone, to using different plugs, outlets, cables etc. I have concluded that it is hardware related. Wireless charging is the only way I've managed to keep the phone alive.
Here's the kicker: Since I am in the USA, I've had to order a Moto X Force from UK through ebay, so neither USA or UK Motorola is wanting to help me out! I've been trying to get some help on their forums, and apparently this is a known issue, that happened when MM rolled out. There is a 36 page thread on there https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/DROID-TURBO-2-by-Motorola/Turbo-2-won-t-charge/td-p/3261260/page/35. Long story short, everyone is jut having to send their phones in for replacements.
I am pretty much out of answers, I feel like I've tried everything and my only solution may be performing surgery on the phone if I could find out which component is wrong, and where to find the replacement.
Any ideas?
The issue is present in Moto X Force devices, but it's not due to MM. I got mine from Motorola Mexico in December 22, MM was available at that time, I got the same issue around 3 weeks ago and had to send it to Motorola. They had to change the phone motherboard to solve the issue, and I have heard similar cases in Latin America where they replace the phone for a new one. This is definitely a know issue for this phone.
