Three weeks ago I got this problem after flashing ICS V8 bl (RE-FLEXxx scary) with cwm , before that I was on ics v8 bl and I have no problem.
So i think this is for bad flashing or something like that in Boot loader.
For solving this problem I first flash ICS unlocked bl v3 full root access, with apx tool.
Then I flash the latest version of civato RE-FLEXxx (shellshock-rev3-aroma-public) with a full wipe right after flashing the boot loader.
I don't choose any Mod or widgets like Asus task manager, mail or weather . just stock acer widgets and Mods. but i flash Asus keyboard and google now with no problem.
After that , I flash ICS V8 BL with pub recovery (apx tool) and boot into recovery and Flash civato's rom one more again like the last time.
But i flash TWRP 2.1.3 moded by civato two days after flashing pub recovery . So if you find a problem you have a broken widget delete that and flash TWRP 2.1.3 recovery with CWM ( google widgets works fine ).
And The problem is gone . I use the tablet for 18 days now and I have no problem. :good:
You can find APX tool , boot loaders and recovery kernels in this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622425
And ICS v3 boot loader with full root kernel is here :http://www.4shared.com/file/0tWUgQl3/V3_ICS_UNL_BL-CWM_17-ICS_10330.html
I hope this will help you.
And sorry for my English.
sorry for digging an old thread
have you solved totally with this?
i'm gonna try this too!
i tried other thngs and i was also sure to have solved, but after long time without any trouble, it is reappeared :/
i tried again to solve and i have noticed that the problem doesn't appear until i change background.
after that, it can happen any time.
maybe is it just a suggestion...
thanks, i will try this now.
i answer myself:
no it didn't solve. after just one day it restarted

Sorry for that and long time to reply, if you have that problem again, do this first : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38323720#post38323720
Do this right after that:
Check Apex launcher during installation and use Apex launcher as default launcher at startup (don't use Acer's launcher) .
Go to Apex launcher setting choose it as default launcher and make sure this sections are checked : 1) keep in memory 2) root help....
and choose tablet UI
Apex have many options to use, and i think it's better than Acer's launcher.
Be aware of widgets that doesn't work correctly.
I have some problems with BMW clock widget (screen wake up randomly during sleep mode)
It is now 3 months that I have no flickering in launcher, but i think it's a problem with acer's ics kernel and launcher, and BTW, Apex is more faster than Acer's Launcher.
Ezterry's kernel and recovery doesn't have any problem.
Hope it can help you :fingers-crossed:

I've been using Nova launcher, and I can confirm I have the same flickering issue as the stock Acer launcher. The only solution is to do a hard reboot. I've tried many ROM versions and all exhibit the same screen flickering, so I'm thinking it's a hardware issue...

Sorry for late respond!
Please update to the latest bootloader and recovery, then try this:
1) in developer options turn on force gpu rendering
2) disbale HW overlays
(you can use this solution for stock Acer's ROM for flickering issue)
Or simply update to the latest Thor Omni based KitKat 4.4.2 V11 (V12 will be available soon)
(Use TWRP based Thor recovery with this ROM will be awesome) :fingers-crossed:

Sorry if this is in a bad spot, I just see this question ALL the time and I'm gonna make a good How-To in order to just link to it for all the questions that come up! (I'm going to cross-post in G2/DZ Q&A too).
When I started using CM7 nightlies, I loved the ROM, and I understand Cyanogen's reasoning for using an open source, versatile launcher like ADW, but I and many others prefer the look/feel/performance of the stock 2.3 launcher.
Installing the stock 2.3 Gingerbread launcher on CM7!
First off, props to frank707 from the Nexus S forums for this mod link. I suggest you go to the original thread and hit the Thanks button for his work.
You can find the mod here in the Nexus S forum: THREAD.
Download the first file in the thread and place on the root of your SD Card (not in any folder). This file is called "CM7GBStockLauncher.zip" (I've attached to this post for easy access as well).
Disclaimer: You'll lose all your homescreen placements and widgets you have set up with ADW launcher the first time you install this stock launcher.
1) Enter recovery. Hold down the power button in CM7 > Reboot > Recovery > Ok
2) In recovery, select "install zip from sdcard" > "choose zip from sdcard" > select CM7GBStockLauncher.zip > scroll down with track-pad and hit YES.
3) You will see a progress bar and "ADW Launcher is now being uninstalled and replaced with the stock launcher"
4) When its complete select "reboot system now" in recovery, and get back to setting up your homescreens with the stock launcher.
And you're done! Enjoy your stock launcher and 3D app drawer!
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Additional info for people updating CM7 Nightlies:
If you want to flash this over nightlies every day, you need to follow a specific order to not lose your placements again.
1) Flash CM7 nightly via recovery (not ROM manager)
2) After install, stay in recovery (don't boot up into the ROM!), go to Advanced > Reboot recovery
3) After recovery reboots, flash the launcher mod (follow above steps).
4) Reboot system, and you'll be greeted by your original homescreen placements that you had before the CM7 update.
Just in case you're lazy, I've attached the launcher file also.
I use ADW Ex, but this is nice to have vs ADW and EX.
thanks!
Wow I was just thinking about why CM7 doesn't have stock launcher and here I go finding your post. Thanks a lot man, and I'll give props due to the guy that ported it from the nexus s. Thanks a lot, I've been running stock android on my G2 simply because I love everything stock. Now i can jump back on CM7, sweet!

Stock generally runs smoother and consumes less power/RAM to run (not a ton, but a little bit). You also get the stock 3D app drawer.
And some people just like the stock look and feel, and don't use the ADW features anyways.

Hi martonikaj,
Thanks for your post, I was just looking for a way to get the stock 3D app drawer on my Desire runningCM7 RC02 (I don't have the Desire Z, but the older one), but I have a problem and I don't know how to resolve it, so I would really appreciate if you could help.
I used Clockwork Recovery to install the zip from sdcard. And everything looked fine has it told me ADW was replaced by the stock launcher. But after my Desire rebooted ADW was still there :'(
So I looked at the logCat and here is what I saw :
E/PackageParser( 158): Package com.android.launcher has no certificates at entry classes.dex; ignoring!
I retried but the exact same thing happened...
I googled this error but didn't find the solution.
I also looked at my "system/app" folder, ADWLauncher.apk disapeared and now I can find Launcher2.apk, but if I click on it, I just get : "app not installed" (not shure for the message as my phone is in french).
So do you have any idea?
You or anybody else of course

Thanks for the zip to install!
Although... not to nitpick, but didn't the stock launcher that came with the G2 have pinch to zoom out? (similar to Launcher Pro) or am I mistaken?

Not sure about this one but i know the true stock 2.3 launcher only allows 5.
And an easier way to do all this would be to google in market stock 2.3 launcher, install it, hit home button and select 2.3 launcher as default. Boom done.
Pretty sure if you use this method with nightlies your gonna have to do it again every single time you install a new one, whereas with my method it will stay through every install.

Why is that? 2.2 had 7 max why would 2.3 cut it down to 5 max?
Thats odd..
*EDIT* I think I found a modded version of the original GB launcher that supports 7 screens over at the epic 4g area.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
If you don't know how to install a gingerbread rom on the cappy, then definitely read these instructions at least TWICE before flashing.
However, there are some specific things you want to do when flashing Buoyancy Beta.
1. The instructions say to use I-9000 bootloaders, but you can also use the Cappy Gingerbread Bootloaders if you so please. I personally see no difference.
2. When flashing this beta, I would definitely flash it over either stock 2.3.4, or another 2.3.4 Rom, such as Continuum.
3. Make sure that you wipe your data and cache at least THREE times before flashing, just to be sure.
Known Issues (It's a Beta)
I'll rate these issues on a scale of 1-10 (one being: I can fix this quickly, 10 being: This could take awhile)
[*]There is no charging animation. (2)
[*]Sometimes, on rare occasions, the ROM will randomly reboot if you mess around with a lot of apps, the power button, and sometimes during media scanner on first boot. (8)
[*]The browser app is laggy. It's a problem with JVQ in general, but I think I can fix it. Until then I'll probably include a browser in the next build. (8)
[*]There's still some bloatware I forgot to remove. (1)
[*]The loading bar when you're downloading an app flashes before the download begins. (This is a tricky one, it's definitely a framework issue, but I'm not sure exactly where it is.) (5)
[*]Rare Bootloops... Ugh. (10)
[*]And many, many others.
Things To Be Added
Hacked Camera
New Market (No, it's not there, I'll link the apk)

So I am getting a A500 soon and been looking into rooting/flashing. I am a complete noob but from what I can tell the device will come with 3.0 which means it will be rootable via gingerbreak apk.
after that, the guides say I will need to flash cwm recovery. most of the guides say to install acer recovery from the marketplace, however there also seems to be ROM Manager which is very popular but I could not find any info if it works with A500.
So which one should I be using? It seems ROM manager comes with an updated version of CWM compared to Acer Recovery Installer. Will ROM manager work with the A500?
no
you can not use rom manager..
the acer recovery installer is used to install . thors .Recovery.. its a custom version of CWM. c. its designed for the a500 ONLY.. and its the ONLY one you can use on our device to date..
also after you get the acer recovery installer installed go to tegraowners.com yo get the latest version . i think 1.6.2 of the cwm recovery. you can flash it by putting it on your sd card and use acer recovery installer...
PLEASE THANK BOTH DEVELOPERS AND PAY PAL THEM.. Without them we would all be boring and stuck on stock. PEOPLE ARE TO Colorful and different to be forced to be all alike
If you are android 3.2 or above os . you will need to look at the downgrade to update to 3.2 and above or fallow the post by Timmy Dean. with his back door exploit . this is all due to the encrypted boot loader
Good Luck and fallow all instructions . you will be no longer a virgin soon.. Giggles
Listen to Erica. DO NOT USE Rom Manager. Just because somebody has a newer recovery, does not mean it is meant for your device They are all different.
But,,,, if you want to listen to what the phone guys say, by all means,,, use it. See what happens If you haven't noticed, that thing sitting on the table, is a lot bigger than a phone. And, it has a different operating system on it.
Run the acer recovery, like she said. THen flash thors recovery. You can always go to his site later, and upgrade it. Takes 5 minutes.
Don't wanna sound rough, but trying to keep you from bricking your tab.

where can we pick up acer recovery & thors recovery? I am familiar with GB and previous. My a500 was rooted before the camera screen magically cracked and when I got it back from Acer they had of course wiped it and updated it to 3.2 so I was unable to use gingerbreak anymore. Since then it has run horribly. It was slow stock before I rooted it the first time but now it has become almost unbearable. I just finished rooting and need to figure out whether I am going to get acer recovery off the market (is that where or is it in the threads here along with thors recovery??)
Thanks in advance

Acer recovery is available in the market. The supplied recover image is ok for flashing roms. so don't worry.
But, if you want his newest recovery (after installing from acer recovery), then aftwerwards, go to tegraowners and get his newest recovery. Just copy the zip to sd, and flash. No wipes needed.

Thanks!! Trying to figure out which rom to flash now..suggestions?
*Update* - Flashed Taboonay. Still very open to suggestions since this is the actual first time I've been able to flash a rom to my tablet. Been able to do it to a lot of SGS1's (mesmerize, vibrant, captivate & SGSII Att variant) but always had trouble with the acer. Since I got it back from acer for broken camera lens it was stock and was to the point it was unbearably slow. Given I had a lot of crap apps on there but still my captivate before it died ran faster than the acer. I'm just looking for a bloatware free rom that's fast, silky smooth. I don't need a bunch of add on animations and crap. I just want it to work & work well ...
Thoughts & ideas appreciated.

Any of the Near stock rooted roms.. is always the best bet for reliability and comparability. With that said i think Thors rom is the fastest. I use the honeylicious icy rom with some personal touches that suit me..

Thanks for the feedback Erica. I already did taboonay and see that it is not quite as smooth as I'd like. I don't know why my tab seems to be slightly sluggish or jittery but it is. I'm dl thors v14.2 atm and will give it a try. Now that I have cwr (or variation there of) installed doing any flashing should be a breeze.
Google date restore after flashing
LAGGY FEELING..
this is something i have had a issue with
after installing a new rom.. during the initial setup.. while setting up your google account you have two options one to turn on google backup.. one is to restore.. Turn this feature off if you do not care about your previous data that google collected.. Sometimes it will load crap back on your rom/device that caused the issues to begin with . it will even load some of the acer apps that the rom developer removed..
i dont use this service from google at all.. I take nanandroid backups with cwm . but for my apps and app data i use TI Backup.. thou its not the most user friendly experience . it required a bit of setup and expects the user to understand there terms.. they have a very good help files on there site if this helps you.. after i reflash a rom one click run of ti i can restore my tablet including all apps there data shortcuts on home screen with widgets and so on.. But im sorry that i cant help you set yours up i dont know enought to do so ..

Read the description of that app.
its based on the rom manager code. with some added tools it looks like...I DO NOT think its in any way compatible.

Acer Recovery Installer.
Thors Recovery Partition..
of course as always adb. (don't ask ) developer.android.com i think is url

Rom toolbox, was not made for HC 3.2, It was made for gingerbread. 2.3
Some features work. Some, well,,,,,,,,,
Lag in the screen apps, it is HC 3.2 Can't fix it for now.
Well, it's not smooth as some "phones". It works, so until 4.0 releases, it's what we have.
Check progress in DEV section http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562595

Stupid question : is it using Holo?
And, if it is based on CM9, it is rooted, isn't it?
If WiFi works, I'm SURELY going to try this!
I installed it yesterday. Wifi works, it uses Holo, hat root and performs better than I expected.
Thx.
I' ve put it on. It's really laggy, but it works!
It's a good start, but if this is the best performance the legend can give, I think I won't ever change definitevly to ICS. Maybe it can be optimizated for the Legend hardware to become smoother.
Thanks for testing, but it has not got hardware acceleration yet. For testing purpose, you could overclock it up to 787 MHZ safely, and the overall performance get better notably.

I'll try keeping it on for more time. By my first impression, it doesn't look so buggy, I think it is also quite stable. I'll tell you if I find anything.
Anyway, this is a great ROM, thanks for your work!
EDIT : Stupid question : to install GApps I have to flash the zip, right?
EDIT 2x : Yea, it was a very stupid question. Flashed from clockwork recovery. Works perfectly.
Its getting better and better. but still GPS not working. Hope you get it fixed soon.

I have a problem with the latest 3.0 version.
After i flash gapps i keep getting boot loops.
If i dont flash it and just flash the rom it boots fine.
Dont know what the problem is. Can someone help me?
I have the exact same problem as DareFace, but I think zeubea is aware of the problem.
zeubea-cm-9.0.0-ALPHA3.0.1 and Google Apps
I tried install this ROM multiple times today, everything works until i install gapps (full or tiny). After that phone enters infinite boot-loop (HTC logo on white background).
Radio 7.13.35.05
Bootloader HBOOT-1.01 (S-ON)
ClockworkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0

After installing gapps over gapps works as a charm. That's weird...
I had the same bootloop problem until I installed another kernel that Zeubea provided. It's till get some fc's, mainly for clock and email, but the email still works, clock is inaccessible atm.
It's even better than cm 7.2RC1, running oc'ed at 787mhz ! It's so smooth and beautiful. Let's hope that the gps and camera will get fixed soon. If I had capabilities to donate, I so would do it.
Thanks Zeubea! The Legend community loves you, keep up the wonderful work of making our ICS dreams come true when htc can't and won't deliver.
The reason for bootlooping is the clock issue.
The default clock in 3.0.0 is 806MHz - something every Legend doesn't handle, so it bootloops.
The 3.0.1 version has this "problem" fixed.
I faced another issue releted to sounds. I change both ring and notification sounds and after some time i realise that they are reverted to default!
I have this weird thing where the danish keyboard force-closes.
It's everytime i type the word "lige". It doesn't do it with the english keyboard
I've tried to turn off the spelling correction, since it's in english, and there isn't a danish one, but it doesn't help.
Other than that it's great
bootlooping after flashing cm9 gapps, possible fix
boots up normally after flashing the zip in CWM, but after flashing gapps it bootloops, and after awhile of countless flashing i discovered it bootloops even before flashing gapps, so i tried different step to flash it and finally it boots up normally, here's what i did :
1) full wipe, dalvik cache and cache partition, factory reset
2) flash the main cm9 zip
3) full wipe, dalvik cache and cache partition, factory reset (again)
4) flash gapps (not tiny version)
5) reboot, if it boots up normally thats great, if not its ok, continue to step 6
6) boot into CWM
7) dont wipe or anything*
8) flash the main cm9 zip
9) instead of rebooting device, continue by just flashing gapps (not tiny version)
this were the steps i did to fix the bootloops after flashing gapps, apparently the gapps tiny version is not compatible with cm9 on the htc legend thats why i stick to the normal gapps file, i hope this helps anyone of u experiencing the bootloops after flashing gapps
I have some kind of problem with wifi connection. If "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to "Only when plugged in". After I wake up phone wifi is turned on it cannot find any networks.
EDIT: Logcat trimmed to "network|wifi|power|conectivity" http://pastebin.com/pdUAbfDy

I upgraded WW_epad-user-9.2.1.17 then rooted and flashed Custom rom (ROM Android_Revolution_HD-EeePad_3.1.0 & ROM Revolver IC400 Beta 1.3.1).
Everytime i use Default Browser or DophineHD or Opera or Youtube. They kick me out homescreen after a few touch even i didn't touch anything in any browser.
Then i use Nvflash back to stock 9.2.1.17 and try use default browser. But i still was kicked out homescreen again
I looked at the ASUS task manager, it showed "browser" memory 12%.
i tried 3 times but it happened the same
Help me...
Hi
Did you run the superwipe script before you installed the custom rom 3.1.0? Did you do a factory reset afterwards - sorry I am no expert but these are things I see people recommending.
I have been running the 3.1.0 rom since Friday and it has only been giving me a couple of problems
File manager has frozen 2 times
The time this morning was 2 hours ahead and my microsd wasnt showing (did a reboot and time and sdcard were ok again)
once I had a total freeze up.
Otherwise I am pretty happy with this rom, in comparison to the problems that I see other people having with the different roms then I am not doing too bad.
From what I can see it is a hit and miss as to what problems you will have after installing a rom.
