torrent- how to? - Transformer TF300T General

Hello there!
I would like to use my tf300t for torrent downloads. However, my DL speed goes up to my connections maximum, then down to several bytes....then up again, several hundreds of kilobytes, then drops again...
Ok, I thought the IO bottleneck should be the problem... I bought a class 6 samsung card, but the issue is the same. Coming from stock 4.0 and 4.1 roms, now its rooted with hydro then cleanrom, but nothing changes in torrent behaviour. I tried adownloader and ttorrent.
Any suggestion?
Thank you!

Have you tried downloading on another person's wifi?
Also have you forwarded the correct ports for the torrent program on your router? The problem sounds like the router is blocking the ports for the torrent program and therefore limiting your speed.
If you are unsure visit http://www.portforward.com

Thanks for answering! Yeah i have tried several wifis. I made an sd speed test, it found out that write is steady 9-10 Mb/s. I downloaded a file today, i have internet connection with real dl speed of 3 Mb/s, it downloaded on tablet around 1-1,5 Mb/s.
I opened the log and it is confusing( attacched).
What do you think?
Port forwarding should be good, i use the same port for my pc!

And you shouldnt use the same port as your PC. The port can only be in use by one network client at a time, and you cannot forward 2 of the same port number to different network nodes.
Forward the port to the (static) IP address of your tablet and make sure its different to the one assigned to your PC.

You could also try making sure UPnP is enabled on your router before going to the hassle of assigning your tablet a static IP.

I can see the attachment on my previous post... Doesn't matter, here you are again, its a screenshot in JPG. I hope it is attached now.
I checked UPnP, it is on. I have assigned a forwarded port for my tablet's IP address. Nothing really changes. It looks like the I/O system cannot handle 3 Mb/s speed...
In case, you can see my screenshot, what is your oppinion? Do you use the tablet for torrents? What speed can you achieve?
Thanks for help!

Wifi lan without internet?

Hey.. i was wondering if i can make the HDs wifi router to a local LAN ROUTER ONLY.
I will use the phone as a local router to a test environment. In that i mean that i will use the phone as a test router where many clients can connect to, without using my mobilecompany 3g/whatever line.
When you create the wifi router now, you have to select which line i will use with the router.. but i cant deselect, so it only makes a virtual LAN with no internet connection.. Is that possible?

The first problem you have here, is that you can only connect 1 device to the wifi router, not multiple devices. Secondly, it does only route wifi, so I doubt you'd be able to create a LAN even if you could connect more than 1 device.
Have you looked at WMWifiRouter? (http://www.wmwifirouter.com/)
It's not free, but there is a trial version, and I believe it allows you to connect more than 1 device at a time. It would still be an internet connection, but everything would be assigned an IP address from the HD2, so you should be able to use it as a LAN regardless.
Also, it may be possible to use WMWifiRouter with the phone in Airplane mode, so that would obviously give you a LAN with no internet access. Again, you can't do this with the default router, but you may be able to do it with WMWifiRouter.
ok well..
Well... thats not right..
I had 3 computers connected to it today. So the thing that you only can connect 1 to the wifirouter, is sadly wrong...
I tried the thing putting it on airplane mode, but it doesn't work.. thats why i asked here. hehe.
I'll try the software you said

Okay, I take that back then. I've never actually tried it myself - that was something I read on here. Goes to show how trustworthy advice on here can be lol
Heheh
Found a crap solution. just create a new connection under connections which doesn't have any relation to your mobilecompany.

well that didn't work either.. hehe.. And the problem you suggested is a "copy" of what the HDs already installed wifi router.. So you dont got that posibility.

Yeah, I only suggested that really because I thought that the in-built version could only be used for 1 device at a time.
The only thing I can think of now is to set a proxy for the internet connection on your phone, either a fake one, or a real one that simply blocks HTTP requests.
Worth a try?
..
Yup. Ill try that
i'm actually not sure how to do that.. can you tell me how?

Yes mate. Go to Settings (or Settings tab, Menu, All Settings) and Connections, Connections, and then "Set up my proxy server". I just tried setting it to my home PC (which has no proxy server running on it) and it allows the data connection, but returns 404 errors for any HTTP requests.
I've just tested this and I get 404 errors when making HTTP requests on my laptop. It seems to do what you need.
Hope it helps mate
GREAT! I will test it thanks m8

Calling all Utorrent users!

Hey guys, I'm relatively new to torrenting and I figured since this community is so great that I would run it by you guys first.
Speedtest says that my download speed is approximately 8mb/s. Why are my Utorrent download speeds so slow then? I'm only getting about 2mb/s download speeds.
There are plenty of seeders as well so I don't think that is the problem.
Could be throttling from your ISP, or it could be that you just aren't getting the same speeds over the ports uT is using. Or maybe all your seeds are slow. Could be any number of things.
8 mbit is your speedtest speed, utorrent is telling you your download speed as mbyte. they are 2 different ways of saying the same speed but they are not equal
example: speedtest tells me 9.56mbps I can download at 1226kBps or 1.2mBps

I'm downloading Dexter Season 5 which is in the top 100 torrents in Pirate Bay so i don't think that it is a problem with the seeds. Any way to check the other things though such as throttling from my ISP? I read that my ISP does in fact throttle so is there any way to get around this?

I'm going to look into setting all of this up. Would you mind helping me out? Thanks for your help.
yeah, pm me
Are you doing this through your phone (only reason I ask is because, well, it's here)? If so, your ping times are probably nowhere near fast enough to get you to consistently hit that 8 mbps speed.
If you've got multiple computers, here's a nifty trick I found this past weekend to get around some ISP's (namely, Comcast) throttling:
1) On both computers, install uTorrent 3.0 Alpha.
2) Under Preferences>BitTorrent set outbound encryption to forced, and un-check "Allow incoming legacy connections", under Basic BitTorrent Features, make sure everything except "Limit local peer bandwidth" is checked.
3) Confirm your router supports UPnP, and check Preferences>Connection "Enable UPnP port mapping", "Enable NAT-PMP port mapping", "Randomize port each start", and "Add Windows Firewall exception"
3a) If you have a firewall on your computer like ESET Smart Security, make sure to create an exception for all inbound and outbound TCP and UDP connections to/from utorrent.exe.
4) Load the same torrent file in both computers' uTorrent list. Under Peers, right-click and select "add peer", and enter the LAN IP address and port (you can get the port from Preferences>Connection>Listening Port) of the other computer.
Now, each computer will download the torrent and (hopefully) go after different pieces of the torrent simultaneously, then share over the LAN what each one has gotten. Enabling Local Peer Discovery will also find a bunch of peers from your ISP, since cable networks act like giant WAN-addressable LANs. (If you want an example, hook up your computer directly to your cable modem's ethernet port, and open up Wireshark. You'll see a ton of broadcasts from people's LANs, like mDNS and ARP requests. You could even do some ARP poisoning and sniff everyone's traffic in your neighborhood...)
Thanks for everyones comments and suggestions! Weirdly enough, I got it working great now and just by uninstalling and reinstalling as to restore the default settings in Utorrent 2.2.
One thing that peaks my curiousity however, earlier when I was trying to leach off my friends 8mb/s download speed internet I was only achieving the 2mb/s or so. When I got home to my house, I was getting about 2.5mb/s and the internet package that we have is supposed to only allow for 1mb/s!
I stopped all downloads and went onto speedtest.net and I did indeed register at ~2.7mb/s download and 1.1mb/s upload. I don't understand how this is possible considering last week I consistently was only getting 1mb/s and even called my cable company and they confirmed that was what I was paying for. Doesn't make any sense but I'm definitely not complaining
I get about 15 mbps down and about 1mbps up on speedtest.net. When I download a movie I see about 2mbps down and about 90kbps max. Whats everyones upload? Thats what really matters.

I found a torrent app for Android that actually works. I have tried several but tTorrent is the only one I have found that really works. They have a free lite version that has a download speed cap but I paid for the full which was 2 something.

Maybe there should be a disclaimer in the op lol
Limit your global upload speed to 25kb/s, walk away for 10 mins. Bam, max speed.
If that doesn't work, the torrent you want probably doesn't have enough seeds close by to you with good upload.

Unable to download additional files

I can't download additional files for any games. Lets Golf HD and Heros of Sparta came preloaded and I got Asphalt 6, NOVA, and Dungeon Hunter 2 via a promo. All five of them have the same issue. A500 says additional files are required but then pops an error after a few minutes saying there was a problem with the download.
I thought it was just a Gameloft problem, but I tried to get the additional files for Frontline Commando last night and the same thing happened.
Tried hard reset and it's still doing the same thing. All upgrades to 3.2 are done and running stock ROM.
I just tried for heroes of sparta...i hadn't before. It worked fine for me. Are you able to browse the web ok? wi-fi seem ok?
---------- Post added at 08:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:43 PM ----------
Just a couple of other things I can think of...gameloft games are stored under /sdcard/gameloft/games. I read that sometimes deleting the folder (or just the sub-folders) have resolved issues with downloading especially for pre-loaded games. Are you behind a proxy or firewall that might be blocking access? Might be worth it to use something like logcat or android system info to look at the logs and see why it is failing to connect to their servers.
You need to setup a static ip address for your connection. You are experiencing subtle wifi drops that cause the error. I got very frustrated with this before I figured out it was a wifi connection. Others have had success by changing the channel their router is running on from the default of 11 to 6 or vice versa. Also, there is a wifi fix out there that may solve your problem, I will try to post the link for you.

How to transfer files over MIMO wifi?

So as we all know, this device has USB 2.0 which is way too slow to transfer my 50 gb audio files.
Does anyone know what is needed to transfer files over the MIMO wifi? Is there such thing as a WIFI direct but using the MIMO antennas so that I can transfer files directly between my OP5 and PC at 866 mbps?

If you use WiFi, you automatically use MIMO. (AFAIK)
You can use SuperBeam for WiFi transfers to pc

I see. Don't you also need to have a MIMO Wifi Adapter with WIFI Direct in your PC too? If so, do you have any recommendations on adapters? I found some MIMO usb adapters like this one: https://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-WUSB6400M/
But I'm not sure it supports WIFI Direct
Will it make such difference in real world? I can get about 350Mbit over USB 2.0, over Wifi Direct about 470Mbit.

That's why I want to see if there's a way to use the MIMO antennas for WIFI Direct since each antenna has a bandwidth of 866 mbps.
I want to know whether there is a 802.11ac wifi adapter (all 802.11n and 802.11ac devices support MIMO connections) for the PC that supports WIFI direct so that I can transfer files wirelessly at faster speeds than USB 2.0.

Yes you also need a MIMO adapter in your pc.
Superbeam works with and without WiFi Direct.
You can have your PC, "cable" connected to a router with at least MIMO 2x2 capabilities. And OP5 connected to the router. Not sure about the WI-FI direct option, if it supports 2x2 MIMO.

MIMO Works for me. Although, I think data rates are based on CPU capability. So if you throttle your CPU Cores you will transfer at lower rates.

Hey Atlantian, can you tell me the model of your WIFI adapter? And also what transfer protocol you use?
Alright, so.
I misspoke. I overlooked an issue that I had not noticed while using Superbeam.
I had to uninstall Superbeam on my PC and Android to notice this. The PC version doesnt support MIMO Direct. I had setup the SB = "Superbeam" the day prior to this post. and the data rates are based upon your routers capabilities.
Im currently using the Asus ROG Rapture Wireless AC5300 Tri-Band Gaming Router.
MIMO technology (MU-MIMO)
2.4 GHz (4 x 4)
5 GHz-1 (4 x 4)
5 GHz-2 (4 x 4)
I mistakenly skipped a step and turned my WiFi on when doing this.
Apparently, the direct connect doesnt work for "Android to PC" direct connect.
Sorry to get your hopes up... it was in error.
The solution is very easy. I installed MIXplorer from xda this is great file manager. In the option menu choose servers TCP server on device where you want to transfere files. Pick up the device from which you want to transfer the files run mixplorer long press on files or folders to select them go to menu and choose send to. Choose the found device and transfer files or folders. On the receiving device you can define also folder where the files have to be transfered, if not they will be placed to the root of internal storage or sd card.

[HOW TO] Bypass Hotspot 600k Throttle

How to bypass hotspot Throttle Confirmed working. Update 12/19/2017
For anyone wanting to use Unlimited data on a PC or Laptop "because we the people shall take BACK control of net Neutrality by Force"
1. Download your favorite VPN. Make sure it has a RELIABLE network Lock. (Vypevpn, ExpressVPN seem to work)
2. Go to regedit, and change default TTL to 65. (google this)
3. Disable IPV6 on wifi adaptor.
4. Reboot PC.
5. Reset hotspot, reconnect, then enjoy "true unlimited" on America's Largest throttled network.
For those that have a rooted Android tablet or other device: (vpn isn't required.)
1. Change TTL to 65
2. Disable IPv6 on lan0 interface (most devices).
Side note: You must setup network lock in VPN and have it enabled at all times, and you must not use any data/internet without vpn otherwise Verizon may detect the connected PC as tethering. If this happens, disable/re-enable wifi adapter or hotspot and retry. You may need to reset hotspot after install and setup of VPN. You can reset either the hotspot or the adaptor both seem to work.
If this has worked for you please consider liking this, and sharing it. Post any questions in the thread and Ill assist.
It seems you have to have all these going, as Verizon is using a variety of DPI, to detect tethering. They are inspecting TTL hops, sniffing packets, as well as checking browser headers and ip's being accessed. This is why these methods of hiding tether usage is required. Verizon is also throttling Instagram, and a few other non video streaming sites i have discovered.
Now to add, I recommend if you are actually gaming, and VPN performance is bad, feel free to disconnect the vpn and make sure the internet is set as metered connection in Win 10. Although the Throttle will kick in, your latency will be low and your gaming will likely be better, as gaming typically little bandwidth. If you are downloading huge patches, torrenting, netflix etc. then use the throttle bypass method.
I will post a youtube video soon on how to bypass. It seems any VPN that has a fallback network lock works fine.
*Verizon has been confirmed to block: Samsung Cloud
*Verizon has been confirmed to throttle: Netflix, Youtube, Instagram.
Update. I figured out how to bypass it. They are tracking hotspot by TTL. I will upload a guide on how to fix it to bypass TTL.

I don't think they only track it using TTL, though I wish it were that easy. They utilize multiple methods for detection, including a type of deep packet analysis. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on this though, as in, where you planned on taking this in order to bypass TTL detection. I've been working on a little project myself, though it's still a cluster of theoretical data I have compiled and a few scripts written in hopes of bypassing throttles.
Hi, it seems like the 600k throttling is intermittent. I changed my ttl to 65 on pc and it seemed to have worked, now I'm slowed again. I also noticed that the throttling only happens after a couple of minutes after a device connects to my hotspot, not immediately. I saw this when streaming YouTube on a tablet. I am thinking it's not at the device level, and there is something other than ttl or even packet inspection.

No, that's the deep packet inspection doing it's job. Do you happen to be rooted? If so, you can add net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to your build.prop, which may or may not help. If I recall, you may be able to add it using adb without root as well.
There is another way that it may work, but it's far more complex. It requires you running an ssh server and a vpn, I haven't tinkered with it myself, but I'm familiar with networking and quite certain this would be the way to go if you're up to the challenge. I recall a few people on reddit discussing it (maybe in the r/hacking sub?), if you wanted to look around on how to accomplish this. I'm on mobile or I'd find some links for ya, but depending on how tech savvy you are, it's not too complicated (though it's much easier to accomplish on a linux distro).
Good luck and let me know if you figure anything out!

Im interested in this as well. It has killed my internet usage at home. Please update us with a way to bypass this.
Ok guys so far I have a temporary working solution on Verizon wireless. I am unsure how long it will last. I am running airvpn over port 2048 udp no ssl or shh. With a ttl of 65 in windows Registry. It seems almost as if they are checking if multiple devices are hitting the same IP. I have been running YouTube full 1080 on throttled hotspot for an hour. It seems that they are doing deep packet inspection on their end because my device is not rooted and unlocked stock s8+.
If anyone can try the same setup (make sure your VPN is running on a different port,) I will probably get a router to host VPN on. Even better would be if it were possible to funnel all VPN traffic including hotspot through the same tunnel on Android.
Edit confirmed working hotspot unthrottled on port 2018.
Time to get the word out. I'm going to post a guide soon.

Great. A guide would be perfect with this because I'm not sure how you managed all of that. That and the only PC I have is a work PC. Let us know when the guide is up.
I don't think you can bypass our throttle lol. I've tried a few things myself.

I wonder if this method works for tmobile.
I'm not sure about hotspot, the TTL hack seems to be hit or miss, but I have been bypassing throttle on tether with FoxFi. I know, I know, people have said it doesn't work on Nougat, well I tried it anyway and have unthrottled speeds, using QH3 unlocked stock firmware and Windows 10.

Check the xda T-Mobile forum, I believe they have an unthrottled method already, one of the easier ones I've seen.

I wasn't able to locate it. Do you have a link? Is it on the S8+ forum or another phone?

At work, so can't look right now, but Google "tmobile truly unlimited data tether xda".
Should be on the first page.
Okay, so I found a way to bypass the throttle (sort of) on my home PC. I purchased samsung dex, and connected my monitor and sound system. Now i can Netflix, surf, trade and download all I want. Not a total solution, but for now, its pretty usable (except for gaming). F U Verizon and all USA carriers.

Those are the details, though I'm not sure how or why the Dex would help bypass the data usage.
Interesting...

Because, its not tethering. Its the actual phone running the Monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers. The new generation of Computing baby.

I figured it out...sorta. USB tether via PDANET registered so not crippled to PC. That connection is 'shared' with the normal LAN. That cable is moved to the 'Internet' port on my router so it can feed other devices. So the PC is the middleman here so to speak.
** No throttling!
Cons...
**PC must be running
** charging only from USB cable so unable to use my QuickCharger 3.0

Can you explain this to someone who is computer literate, but completely phone/networking illiterate? For example, I'm not sure what you mean by "via PDANET registered." I've never tethered before either, but I've seen that as an option when I plug USB into my computer, so I think I can figure that out at least.
I'm stuck in a hotel for a month for training for my work and the hotel internet is awful (only .2 down) so I decided to pay up for Verizon's unlimited data plan and hotspot it, but now I've hit the ridiculous 600k throttle.
For the record, I have with me my laptop running Windows 10, and my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 (purchased at a Verizon store).
The worst part is I was really hoping for an ethernet port in this hotel room but there isn't one unfortunately.
Edit: Just realized this is under Galaxy S8+... My mistake, I found this thread via a google search. Not sure if you can help me or not since my phones an S6, but would still appreciate any and all help.
