Unable to download additional files - Acer Iconia A500

I can't download additional files for any games. Lets Golf HD and Heros of Sparta came preloaded and I got Asphalt 6, NOVA, and Dungeon Hunter 2 via a promo. All five of them have the same issue. A500 says additional files are required but then pops an error after a few minutes saying there was a problem with the download.
I thought it was just a Gameloft problem, but I tried to get the additional files for Frontline Commando last night and the same thing happened.
Tried hard reset and it's still doing the same thing. All upgrades to 3.2 are done and running stock ROM.

I just tried for heroes of sparta...i hadn't before. It worked fine for me. Are you able to browse the web ok? wi-fi seem ok?

Just a couple of other things I can think of...gameloft games are stored under /sdcard/gameloft/games. I read that sometimes deleting the folder (or just the sub-folders) have resolved issues with downloading especially for pre-loaded games. Are you behind a proxy or firewall that might be blocking access? Might be worth it to use something like logcat or android system info to look at the logs and see why it is failing to connect to their servers.

You need to setup a static ip address for your connection. You are experiencing subtle wifi drops that cause the error. I got very frustrated with this before I figured out it was a wifi connection. Others have had success by changing the channel their router is running on from the default of 11 to 6 or vice versa. Also, there is a wifi fix out there that may solve your problem, I will try to post the link for you.

torrent- how to?

Hello there!
I would like to use my tf300t for torrent downloads. However, my DL speed goes up to my connections maximum, then down to several bytes....then up again, several hundreds of kilobytes, then drops again...
Ok, I thought the IO bottleneck should be the problem... I bought a class 6 samsung card, but the issue is the same. Coming from stock 4.0 and 4.1 roms, now its rooted with hydro then cleanrom, but nothing changes in torrent behaviour. I tried adownloader and ttorrent.
Any suggestion?
Thank you!
Have you tried downloading on another person's wifi?
Also have you forwarded the correct ports for the torrent program on your router? The problem sounds like the router is blocking the ports for the torrent program and therefore limiting your speed.
If you are unsure visit http://www.portforward.com

Thanks for answering! Yeah i have tried several wifis. I made an sd speed test, it found out that write is steady 9-10 Mb/s. I downloaded a file today, i have internet connection with real dl speed of 3 Mb/s, it downloaded on tablet around 1-1,5 Mb/s.
I opened the log and it is confusing( attacched).
What do you think?
Port forwarding should be good, i use the same port for my pc!

And you shouldnt use the same port as your PC. The port can only be in use by one network client at a time, and you cannot forward 2 of the same port number to different network nodes.
Forward the port to the (static) IP address of your tablet and make sure its different to the one assigned to your PC.

You could also try making sure UPnP is enabled on your router before going to the hassle of assigning your tablet a static IP.

I can see the attachment on my previous post... Doesn't matter, here you are again, its a screenshot in JPG. I hope it is attached now.
I checked UPnP, it is on. I have assigned a forwarded port for my tablet's IP address. Nothing really changes. It looks like the I/O system cannot handle 3 Mb/s speed...
In case, you can see my screenshot, what is your oppinion? Do you use the tablet for torrents? What speed can you achieve?
Thanks for help!

Home Wifi Problems

Hi,
I don't know if I can have any help with this issue but I have nowhere else to go for this. I am having problems with my GS5 loading the Play Store and Facebook mainly on my home Wifi. I connect it to other Wifi networks at work or elsewhere and don't experience these same issues. Now on Wifi the browser works fine and everything else works fine when I download, play online games on the phone, etc. Facebook wont load pretty much anything on Wifi (rarely it does but its slow) and the play store will lo extremely slow and be spotty while connected to Wifi in the home. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and if so do you know a fix for this. Any help is greatly appreciated and appreciate all answers and responses in advance!
Try resetting your modem/router

If it works on other networks it most be something with yours
Actually I do have this same problem...thought it was just me. I didn't really notice the Play Store doing it, but Facebook is horrible about it. It works perfectly fine at work, or any other wifi I have tried. I have no idea what causes it... any ideas would be great!
I spent the first few days after buying the s5 trying to figure this same issue out. I even returned the phone for a new s5 thinking it was defective.
The solution: I had to update the firmware on my home router (dlink). After updating the firmware everything worked perfect.

I have tried checking for new versions of firmware on my router and there isn't one. Tried rebooting and resetting the router even put back to factory settings and still no luck. Tried it on the regular network and the 5GHZ network and my download speeds on WiFi are insane and have run a speed test. Even get online and download files and everything without hesitation. Just the play store and Facebook mainly have been doing it and I can't figure it out.

Is there a computer at home you can try with Facebook to help isolate the problem to your router? If it runs great from a PC you will know that it is a combination of your phone on your network. If you are using a FB app have you tried FB from a browser.

Sounds like it may be some security issues on the router, try turning things off one at a time and see if it helps then you will pinpoint the culprit!

Game cannot connect to server only on Nexus 9, only at home WiFi

Hi!
I really do hope I post this question to the right forum. If not, sorry.
I've been playing with Family Guy: TQFS for a while now on my Nexus 7 without any problems (apart from the usual software related stuff). I used my home WiFi for connection. My Router is a Linksys EA6400.
I've recently changed my Nexus 7 to a Nexus 9. Everything works perfectly, but somehow Family Guy cannot connect to the server.
What makes the whole thing odd, that other programs (from Google+ to other games) can connect to the internet without any problem.
For the sake of troubleshooting, I've made the following steps:
1: Disabled the MAC Filtering on the Router: No change
2: Tried other games from the same developer (TinyCo): They couldn't reach the server as well
3: Tried to tether wifi from my mobile: The game could connect
4: Tried other WiFi-s: the game could connect
I guess the problem is with my router, but other than that I couldn't figure out. What bugs me, is that if it happens with a game, it can potentially happen with any software.
I would really appreciate if you could help me to solve this problem, or at least point me in the right direction.
Thank you in advance.
Peter

new t580 (2016) Internet lag

Just got a 10.1 tab a6 for Xmas and despite it being nearly empty, Web browsing is depressingly laggy. I've checked on my other devices and the house conection is fine however, when clicking links, I get pauses of up to 10 seconds as if the request is being routed through a proxy or some kind of link security checker. Is there some kind of undocumented Samsung bloat ware or is there an issue with the firmware? Other than the net, the tab runs great.
I just got a Tab A 7.0.
Haven't experienced many issues except for the screen screwing up and refusing to work like my other budget device.
Try restarting it, or disconnecting then reconnecting to the Internet. If not, try a different browser. Maybe that'll fix it.
same here with a t585. Since some days the internet browsing is laggy... already wiped data/cache on stock rom... very sad.
edit: it could be somehow wifi related since the lag is there also using other web based apps.
I have found the problem: the wifi module.
the issue completely disappears as soon as I switch wifi off and I use the 4g connection.
now the point is: it is router related or tablet related?
my router works perfectly with all the other devices...

partially solved.
delete your current wifi connection; create a new one manually, with a static ip address, global & local DNS and all parameters to "facilitate" a steady connection.
For me this worked to get rid of lags.

Wifi problem.

Hi. I'm currently experiencing a weird issue with my phone and wondered if I was alone.
So basically, over some wifi, some stuff behaves in a weird way. For example, Ebay, Twitter and LPMobile (local french news app) can't download images. Also, Clash Royale can't update and i have issues connecting games to Google Play Games. This bug only occurs on my home network tho. Everything works just fine on Mobile Data and some other wifi connections (School, Work...) I believe the problem is somewhat linked to software since i had this issue on my older phone (Honor 7x). I believe it is linked to the Packet flooding Issue back in January of this year. However, I tried installing many different versions of Google Play Services on my device and nothing changed.
Does anyone experience this issue?
My home Router is a Linksys EA7500 Max-Stream, if this can help.
Thank you!
It appears I am having similar issue when I am on wifi. Facebook, Instagram will not load pictures and new posts.
Have you resolved your issue?

No, I haven't resolved it, tho from what I tried, it seems to be linked to my router. What's your router?

From what you have described this seems to be an issue with your WiFi connection at home and not the phone. I would reset the router and see if that resolved your issue.
I have a similar issue. I own both a 6 and 6t - the 6 no issues gets on wifi just fine but the 6t? Not so much. I will connect up all day long to 2.4Ghz wireless and get on the internet but if I put it on 5Ghz (which all my stuff uses) it connects, get an ip but will go no where on the internet. It's like it has no DNS or something. Frustrating as hell. I opened a support ticket with OnePlus and they told me to send it back. (PS I tired all the fixes, router reboot, forget network, I even tried a factory data reset...nothing same behavior).
Wifi dropping issue
Same issue with my 6t. Frist oneplus devide and disappointed. It's been weeks i havent used my device.. because wifi doesont works..
It's anyone using Private DNS with cloudflare? That gave me issues with my wifi at work until I disabled it. It didn't give me problems anywhere else though.
my wifi works great; most likely, those that are having wifi problems have issues with their router/modem/isp;
usually, its not the phone where the wifi problem is..
