[Q] How to Solve Dragging Problem in Window 8 - Windows 8 General

Dear all Win 8 users,
I have serious problems regarding to Win 8. I can't drag and drop item to running software.
For example, dragging .mp3 file to Winamp player, mouse show deny icon and can't drag into playlist. Also can't drag directly photos to Photoshop CS6 in order to edit.
If i want to open music in Winamp, I have to open from Winamp software. Also in Photoshop CS6, I have to open photos from software and can't drag. This is a serious case and if it is a feature of Win 8, very disappointing facts and wasting time.
Another one problem is can't directly open Office file (doc, excel file, etc.) by clicking double. The error message show " There was a problem when sending the command to the program" . But I can open these office files after opening MS Word, Excel and go to File>Open.
Are there anybody face these problem?
I'll be waiting your precious replies.
Thanks in advance.
Note: My window is Window 8 Pro Build 9200; and I can't also open Window Store even I changed location to US, UK or somewhere. I'm living in Myanmar formerly known as Burma.

I just dragged an image into Photoshop then, so it looks like there's a problem. Try running a search of "Default" and then open "Default Programs". Have a play around in there. If that doesn't work, try the very last "Set program access and computer defaults" option.
Worst case scenario, you can use Windows 8's new "refresh" option. This will uninstall everything except your Windows 8 files, however.

My problem is now OK. Can't drag problem happened because of the Obly Tile app. If i created tiles with that app, the app are stop from window startup and become confused. Now My computer is on fresh window and everything works fine without using Obly Tile software.

Anyone familiar with this software? It's the only piece of software of its kind that I've ever used that you can't click on a file of an associated filetype and have it open the App with the file open within it. Like in opening MS Word by clicking on a .doc file. All that happens is that the app opens and stops at the directory you've designated as the default directory. It's too bad it won't work, seeing as the app itself is leaps and bound ahead of Notes in terms of functionality. If anyone has used it and figured out a workaround to the limitation I'd love to hear it. I'm running the paid version

[Q] Metro apps crashing due to "sharing" of app data folder

Some of my Metro apps either no longer launch or launch but do not load or work once loaded.. Here's what I did:
I recently discovered how much I liked the Music app so I decided to import some music by adding libraries through "computer" and "libraries" and "properties". For some reason some playlists were being picked up so I did something very dumb and allow sharing of my whole C: in hopes for it to pick up some music that the Music app had a hard time finding.
Well that royally screwed some things up and stopped my Metro apps from opening. I guess messing with sharing permissions wasn't a smart idea. I couldn't find any way to un-do so what I did so I tried to do a system restore to a restore point from earlier that day. After restoring I noticed some Metro apps on the had a little "x" in the bottom right corner of the tile. I clicked on it and it took me to a message saying that the app could no longer run because my developer license had expired. Funny, but I never had a dev license to begin with nor do I know what that has to do with anything. So naturally I uninstalled the apps that wouldn't work (approx. 6) and re-installed them. Most worked, some still did not.
Once re-installed I noticed that "Tweetro" (twitter app) opens but no longer shows anything but the logo on the top left corner. Just a black screen. I can access the charms bar but nothing else. So I tried another twitter client which just opened but wouldn't allow me to sign in, just kept showing the "click here to sign in" no matter how much I clicked sign in.
The Sports app just auto closes if I try to launch it. Same with the News app. When I go into Ebay now it just shows "loading" on all the tiles. I've no confirmed that it was in fact a problem I created due to allowing sharing of the C drive. Apparently the hidden folder "app data" is the culprit and causes this problem when shared. I'd like to know how to un-do this problem without a refresh or reset of Windows. Apparently undoing sharing privileges from the "app data" folder does not resolve things.

The Windows 8 FAQ
In order to declutter the windows 8 general thread with unnecessary questions,I decided to create this FAQ.I have answered most of the common questions here and will be adding more and more answers as time goes by.If you want me to cover a question, just post it in this thread and ill answer them as soon as possible....
Q1.What Is A Clean Install? What's the difference between a clean install and an upgrade?
A1.A clean install means deleting the previous operating system completely, then replacing it with windows 8.You do this by booting from the cd and then installing windows 8.This is almost always the best way to install windows 8.
Q2.I copied the Iso file to my cd and burnt it,but its not booting from the cd.Why?
A2.This is because burning an ISO is not as simple as just copying the iso to the cd.You need software like IMGBurn or Free ISO Burner. After you download that, when you right click the ISO,you should get and option to burn to disk.Insert a BLANK dvd AND Burn away!
Q3.My Windows 8 Installation failed/froze/crashed!What do I do?
A3.The First thing to do if windows 8 doesn't install is to try again.Yes,try again. If it still doesn't work then try the following troubleshooting:

on tablet tapping the screen in a location is simply a mouse left click (unless the software specifically supports touch) and then pressing and holding for a brief period of time is a right click. This is actually a step backwards as on windows 7 you could do a much faster right click by pressing 1 finger down and then immediately tapping next to it with another finger.
With a wacom stylus, they are actually detected slightly above the screen. This I think allows you to move the cursor around without having to click in that location as you would on a regular touchscreen. Tapping with the stylus is then left click. Some styluses have either a button you hold as you tap or the ability to tap with the back of the pen as a right click. Hovering the stylus over the screen to move the cursor around also allows you to trigger rollover textboxes on websites or tooltips I think. Not 100% sure having had only limited time with a stylus equipped tablet.
Alternately. There isnt a single windows tablet out there that doesn't have USB and bluetooth capabilities. So you could use a USB mouse or a bluetooth mouse.

for daily usage wait for 8.1 to be available via windows update. The public versions right now are slightly buggy betas for developer usage, not public usage, its a fresh install not an upgrade. It will be available for free as a system update later this year

OK I am taking up the offer:
Qn. Is Windows activation done automatically or do I have to go to control panel or somewhere to do the activation?
Qn+1. My Personalize option is not greyed out, does that mean my Windows activation has been done automatically? I don't remember doing any kind of activation since I got the new PC.
Thank you for the great list of Q&A.

Yes, after release on 18, you can upgrade without losing files and apps. If you have the Preview you can upgrade to 8.1 but only keep personal files.

[Q] How to re-install Internet Explorer?

I know I know, use Chrome as my main browser and I've recently downloaded Firefox. But sometime today i have realized that I do not have IE11 (I have Windows 8.1) installed. Perhaps I uninstalled it or something has happened. I want to know how to install back another IE11. I have check microsoft's Website: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/internet-explorer/download-ie and I have got nothing. I then was looking through my Program Files I found that my IE folder was still there. There was something called iexplore.exe (as seen in my screenshot) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa741312.aspx and I want to know if that app will install my IE back? Even thoug it is not critical, I would still like to know how to get it back. Thanks.

iexplore.exe is internet explorer, you cannot uninstall internet explorer without breaking windows. All you have done is deleted the shortcut or disabled it from add/remove windows features.

I have included a screen shot of something. Is this what you are talking about? Cause it is stilled check and no IE.
You are sure that you havent simply deleted the shortcut?
Go to the start screen. Just type "internet explorer"

Man I see you. Good Job. Thanks a lot. So after running iexplore I came up with IE11, as seen in the screen shot below, thanks to you. Now, why is it not under my apps or programs? As seen in my screen shots it does not show up when i type internet explorer but it does when I type iexplore. Could you explain that?
PS. I also like your confidence, by saying "When IE shows up...". You know that it must still be installed. Awesome

You never lost the program; IE is built into windows, and Windows won't run without it. I'm not sure what happened to your apps shortcut. Iexplore.exe is simply the file name for all versions of IE.
This URL is for IE 10, but it should work.

I would recommend unchecking it in the Windows Features dialog, hitting OK, then going back and adding it again... but yeah, you somehow deleted the shortcuts from the Start menu.
By the way, it's entirely possible to remove iexplore.exe (the browser); what you can't remove without breaking things is mshtml.dll (the rendering engine).
