AgileNotes - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Anyone familiar with this software? It's the only piece of software of its kind that I've ever used that you can't click on a file of an associated filetype and have it open the App with the file open within it. Like in opening MS Word by clicking on a .doc file. All that happens is that the app opens and stops at the directory you've designated as the default directory. It's too bad it won't work, seeing as the app itself is leaps and bound ahead of Notes in terms of functionality. If anyone has used it and figured out a workaround to the limitation I'd love to hear it. I'm running the paid version

MobilMon - File system monitor utility

To the many excellent folks here at xda-developers.com, I'm releasing MobilMon 0.5 for free.
I wrote a simple app that monitors file system access (specifically, file creation, deletion, or modification). This sort of tool can be invaluable when you are trying to figure out what's happening on your system. You can export the findings to a log file.
It's pretty bare bones at this point, but that was somewhat intentional. I wanted to see what folks wanted out of such an app before spending more development time on it.
Check it out, and let me know what you think: http://www.mobilmon.com
wow! thank you! this is pretty much exactly what i was wishing for ever since i started playing around with new apps and such on my phone.
it's a great help for just before a system backup. for example, i have SPB backup set to run every other morning. let's say it runs on Saturday at 5:00am. I install some apps and do some random things from 8:00am to 9:00am. 9:30am, my phone crashes. I reset to 5:00am, and I lost all that stuff i did from 8 to 9. now i know! thanks for this app.
Feature changes
A couple of things I was considering:
1. CSV EXPORT. Would it be better to leave the plain text formatting for easy readability, or format it for CSV export?
2. DIRECTORY. I was originally going to include the ability to change the directory (i.e. something other than just "\") but that would involve some significant work on my part. And, I'm not sure if you'd really want to do that anyway.
3. VIEW FILE READS. As delivered, it monitors file adds, deletes, and changes - not reads. This was done intentionally for performance reasons. Would people want to see all the file reads, even if it bogged the device down?
This is awesome! I haven't seen anything else like it, so I am really happy to see someone from the xda-forums to make this magic!
I think that you should add in the view file reads, but only as an option. Maybe also an option to select which operations you want logged (eg. when I only want to see the files created, and not deleted). Although being able export to CSV would give me the same results, but with some editing.

Many thanks for the app.
It would be nice to have (even as a separate app) something like mamaaich's file monitor: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=247425, with ability to start/stop and good frontend - to capture all file activities in the whole system.
It helps a lot to find frequent, unintended system file reads (in most cases - draining batteries)
monitor lost memory
i wonder if you could add some powerful memory mgmt to check where my pda memory is lost and what is the process, application or service which is causing memory leaks or using too much memory. maybe you could draw a graph or monitor memory usage during time for all processes. when i start my pda i have 48% free ram, after a day i am back to 80% without any visible app running.
Thanks!
Thanks
Thanks for the good feedback; I'll look into making it where you can select the types of events to monitor and then go from there.
Good lead on mamaich's program - I wasn't aware of it. I will take a look. I'm all about working smarter, not harder
Hello,
I stumbled over this (admittedly quite old) thread on the search for a windows-mobile version of something like iTunes FolderWatch or iPad ShutterSnatch.
Would it be possible to extend MobiMon such that an action can be triggered once a new file is found? In my case that action would be to start a picture viewer with the newly created file name as a parameter.
Scenario: Send pictures I take with my camera to my Windows Mobile Phone (HTC HD2) via FTP (MochaFTP) through an Ad-Hoc Network directly from the camera (using Eye-Fi). MobiMon would recognize the new file and fire up the picture viewer. This way, the latest picture taken will be shown on HD2's big display right after the shot was taken.
Of course, if there is a more streight-forward way of doing this (like a picture viewer with integrated FTP-Server ) I'd be more than happy to hear about it!
Regards and a happy new year!
Alex
Yes, it's possible.
In regards to your inquiry, it's programmatically possible, but would require a re-write. This has to do with the way things are instantiated. Whether I could afford the time to do it is a different question
1. What is the target OS?
2. Do you have the means and skills to adjust my code and compile it yourself if I just pointed out the changes needed?
allright, heres my question:
is it possible to add (i.e)tray/taskbar icon showing card r/w activity?
I am thinking not exactly about this specific project, but general idea related to it.

Download ability?

Hello everyone,
I heard that you can't download all kinds of files on a WP8 , thus rendering you limited to a certain number of formats. (and as far as I understood there are issues with e-mail downloads and opening some files?...)
Which formats are we limited to? Is Microsoft willing to address this issue? Is it a deal-breaker or can you still use the phone? Are there any issues with download such as the ability to only view the files and not actually download them?
Many thanks,
Alex.
i would think its possible after reading this http://wmpoweruser.com/windows-phone-8-has-new-api-for-loading-music-from-apps-into-the-music-hub/
as far as downloading music files but i havent seen anyone develop anything to test it out and showcase this ability
Dunno, maybe Nokia Xpress browser can do something? ..

You are correct. In both email and browser, you can not download any type of file and save it somewhere. You can open a few types only, and even then, the phone will save them automatically I believe (pdf,doc,mp3).
I wish I knew what MS was thinking on this and what they are willing to do in the future. But of course, they dont say anything as far as their plans. I would love the ability to save any type of file to a folder I chose, no matter if I can open it with the phone or not. Only MS knows their thoughts on this. I wish there was someone I could contact to find out what their feelings are on it and if they are even entertaining the idea of this for the future. they are too tight lipped about future updates.
i'm using wp7.5 and i can download and open zip files.. but can't save it. After you close the zip file it's gone
we really need a file explorer

Yep. And sadly, we most likely wont get one. At least not an official one. The only way we could get one with WP7, I think you had to be able to side load apps and be interop unlocked. Not 100 percent sure on the interop part, but it basically wasnt something available to everyone. I hear people say we dont need custom roms and hacks.....sorry, but YES we do. If MS is going to lock down half the OS, then YES we absolutely need hacks and Custom ROMs.

i'm confused...
if you can't download files on wp, how would i do this:
navigate to college website, login portal, download
powerpoint
notes,
zips, etc containing course materials ?
students email powerpoint slides and annotate those slides as needed to each other also.
is this not possible to do on the platform, still ?
please, this is a very -direct- process. i would prefer to keep things out of the cloud (ie skydrive, dropbox, whoever) and KEEP it a DIRECT process.
thanks !

I should clarify something.
If it is one of the following, I believe the phone will save it automatically once you open it. Powerpoint, PDF, Dox, exel file, text, audio. You click the link to download and the file will open. It will save automatically or you have the option to save it sometimes. Other than those file types, you cant do much with anything else.
I downloaded a ZIP file, and while I could actually open it, I had no option to save it. And when I mean download, the phone downloads it, but does not save it in a location you have access to. So without a File Explorer or MS updating the download and save file feature, we wont have access to any files except the types I listed.
Use UC brower, it can download all stuff , but you will need to upload it to skydrive to access it outside the browser.

this is not a download solution. the whole point of the thread (so far) is if its possible (and how) to download files to the phone, and then access those files.
the point of downloading a file to a device is to use, edit, and store that file -on- the device.

I still prefer MS change it by allowing us to have control over saving files to the phone and having access to that folder. When I need to then get those files from my phone to my computer, Skydrive doesnt help when I am working somewhere and there is no WIFI, which happens a lot for me. And no, I will not pay more to have tethering.
You can currently save office documents and also send those via E-Mail, Bluetooth, NFC (well - depends, currently only works with other Windows devices). The one notable exception currently is PDF-files that have been openend directly from the browser (if they were stored on SkyDrive it works).
You can open Zip-Files and contained files but the Zip-Files themselves are not stored.
Aside from the file types reserved for the system (there is a list in MSDN) Apps can register as compatible with those filetypes. E.g. Autodesk could create an AutoCAD-Viewer that registers for the *.DWG Filetype. If you then receive such a file via E-Mail, SkyDrive, Download, etc. and open it the according application will be launched and that application will have to take care of the file (display, storage, etc.)
If you don't have an App on the phone that can handle the filetype you can launch a search on the Store for Apps that support the filetype. Should you have multiple Apps installed that support the filetype you will be provided with a prompt that asks you what you want to do.
As far as I know that is pretty much the same way iOS handles those situations but I might be mistaken there.

Downloading file no longer associated with App

When we download certain file types or URLs, there can be an association that causes a particular app to open. For example, I've set an association so that when I click on a link that mentions IMDB, the IMDB app opens rather than viewing in a browser. And certain programs can be associated with downloads too, so that when we click on the download link, that app will fire rather than the standard download action.
I had this working great with an app called SabNZBDPlus. When I would click on a link for a .nzb file, that app would kick off, and know how to handle that file. But recently, I reinstalled that program. Now, rather than firing the program - or asking me what I'd like to do - the file simply downloads like any other, and none of SabNZBDPlus automation takes place. I've tried clearing application defaults, reinstall, reboot, and so on but cannot seem to clear this.
What I'd like to do, is make Android once again ask me what to do when I click on such a link. I'm sure this can be resolved by factory reset, but that seems to be overkill.
Any ideas?

Any way to make stock Miflavor rom let me choose any app to select my file?

I have a few irritating gripes with this stupid software. Aside from certain things not in landscape mode, clipboard not being able to save more then one copied text, my biggest gripe is the system not allowing me to choose the app of my choice to select a specific file! Something that's so simple, fluid and normal on all Galaxy phones and probably any other. For example, when using what's app I want to select a file that the gallery app can't find but the stupid stock UI won't let me select any other app. Only 2 others aside from gallery that have nothing to do with selecting a picture or any other type of file. Does this iterate anyone else and do you have a workaround? Thanks.
Try installing another file explorer but don't specify which is default when it asks, just use something to open the file. You'll get as many options as the system allows.
I use fx File Explorer. One of the best available. If you use fx to navigate to the file you may also get another option via fx to deal with the file.
The issue is likely just the Android OS, not the ZTE software. I find it behaves normally compared to other phones. If you compare to a Samsung, it's probably the Samsung being different. They add so much extra stuff in them that once you start installing extra apps, using apps etc it starts filling cache and bogs the system down more than a more stock, lighter system will.

Thanks will try.

Thanks for the reply, I will try it out. I've never heard of fx I've been using es forever. I just figured I can use quickpic app as a gallery alternative so now I'll try this file manager. But the problem always persist and answering your question, no it doesn't ask me which file manager or app I wanna use for certain actions. Maybe and hopefully this helps. Thanks.
Hi @Wanabedev83,
Would you like to post your screenshot here?
I might experience the same problem, yet I have fixed it. So if it's OK, I would try to help you. Pls post the screenshot.
Thanks in advance!

NST library files

Anyone knows where the files/databases are for the library to use, e.g., sorting files for recent, author and title, as well as for shelves. It seems the library module from time to time doesn't sort correctly, after adding new books. Sometimes, a book from search is not placed in the 1st in the library ( for most recent order ). So I guess there must be something wrong in related files. Any tips are appreciated.

AFAIK there is nothing specifically for the Library app other than an xml file (/data/data/com.bn.nook.library/shared_prefs.xml) which I imagine is supposed to control how the various library options display when the library is accessed. I've never had any luck with changing the settings (which are obfuscated anyway) as I would like the library to open a certain way but it insists on reverting to something else no matter how many times I set it.
As for databases, there are two associated with the Reader app (/data/data/com.bn.nook.reader.activites/databases/lastreadingpoint.db and /readerlocal.db). Historically there have been issues with the databases becoming garbled and there are a couple of postings somewhere in the forum with sqlite sequences for clearing out the dross and starting over. I'll see if I can scare those up but you should search also. And you'll need a sqlite database viewer if you want to examine the databases on your PC to see what's there.
Edit: This is the main thread I was remembering: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/solved-on-the-problem-of-broken-bookmarks.1467429/

Thx, I will dig a bit. Strange thing is just read books from search don't appear in library's beginning at all. On the other hand, books read from library do change order in the library. Besides database, any other possible modules that would such problems?

I've come up empty. From examining the two Reader databases it is clear that they do not contain any information that would create placement in the Library such as shelves. That information must be somewhere but I have not been able to find it. There is another database, home.db, which is part of the bn.home app. There is minimal data there about books, but nothing helpful.
What is distressing (besides not being able to track down where this information is stored) is that there seems to be no mechanism to flush out the databases. Looking over mine I see (sideloaded) books that I have deleted a long time ago. No wonder things act funny after awhile.
Edit: Never say never. This post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/automating-shelving.1378510/ reveals the whereabouts of the information for the Library. I never would have guessed B&N would use stock Android for that!
Yeah, there used to be problems with the MediaScanner on the NST.
I got used to not relying on it.
Even now, my Library app has a fixed number of locations for books and you just hit Refresh once in a while.
The AdbSync script (makefile actually) that I use just pokes a refresh after syncing the Books directory.

You can do sqlite manipulations via ADB is you have sqlite3 installed on the NST, but for a better overall view you really need to copy the database file to a PC use a tool like this.

Not really.
There are ways to make the MediaScanner scan a single file.
There is no simple way to tell it to just rescan everything.
I was talking about my Library.apk which does a simple foreground scan when you:
Code:
adb shell am start -a com.temblast.library.REFRESH
