UPDATED 03/21 [KERNEL] ~GamerZ Kernel~ [CPU-OC 2157MHz & GPU-OC 320MHz] - TouchPad Development

~GamerZ Kernel~
By installing this your warranty is now void... wait a sec, wasn't it already void? Hmm...
Okay, up on my soap box for a minute:
Don't expect to be able to set your CPU to a ridiculously high clock and then every thing work right. I cannot tell you what the limits of what your CPU can handle are, because they are all different. I do however recommend keeping it at or under 1914MHz to avoid any RR's or FC's in the middle of your game. If you attempt to OC more than your CPU can handle your TouchPad will freeze up and restart with the default of 1188MHz, and don't worry it's still okay!
UPDATED:
Okay, I've updated the frequency tables with some new frequencies and lower voltages for better stability and battery life! I've also now updated the 2D and 3D GPU to 6 scalable frequencies including 2D frequencies up to 270MHz!
This is DEFINITELY worth the update!
Right now:
29 CPU Frequencies:
192,384,432,486,540,576,648,702,768,810,864,918,960,1026,1152,1188,1344,1440,1512,1566,1620,1674,1728,1836,1890,1914,2022,2103,2157
3 GPU Frequencies: (3D 320 & 2D 270)
More features to come in the far future...
How to install:
1) Download
2) Boot into Recovery
3) Flash
4) Reboot to GamerZ and set your desired frequency

SGA can you post a google drive link of the CM9 kernel?
For some reason I get really low speeds like 4KB/s when downloading from Goo.im and with gdrive I can almost get 4MB/s

could you make your kernel so thats it support NTFS usb mountin alot of devises suppourt it and i know its only a kernel issue for our TP i would be awsome continue you exellet work love your kernel finally a good kernel for our TP

Weird, no matter what I do I can't get the kernel to take. I'm on the latest fat n creamy, I boot into twrp, install the kernel but it doesn't take. I've installed a million things and am no stranger to this whole thing so I don't get it. Any ideas? I downloaded the CM9 file twice, no luck.

Experimental kernel with the BFS scheduler for the custom rom 160

I'm not responsible to any damage which is caused by applying this kernel (boot.img) to your phone !
I've built a new kernel with BFS scheduler which is created by Con Kolivas (http://ck-hack.blogspot.com/) by patching genokolar's overclock kernel source (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059029).
I've tested this new kernel on my phone, I'm running the custom rom 160 which is created by stockwell (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059753), so far I'm quite impressed by the quick responsiveness of the phone even I set the cpu clock back to 800MHz in conservative mode.
Unfortunately the WiFi is not working, I hope later I can do factory reset to see if that will fix it, anyone willing to give it a trial and let me know the result is very appreciated !
Please note you may need to wipe the dalvik cache after install and reboot several times.
Updated : 2011-Jun-16
Looks like firefox adblock plus block my upload file.
I've tested this kernel several days, it works quite stable for me as long as you can boot it up, there may be a pop up says that system is not response during boot up, just ignore it.
There two things I found so far...
1. wifi is not working
2. battery drains out faster and warmer, I guess that's relate to overclock, if I set the clock back 800MHz, it seems ok.

CM7 does not use BFS. We decided it was too buggy. It causes all sorts of instability on the Blade and other devices. Probably has a similar effect on the U8800 after a while

Using wiki as reference isn't the best.
However seeing that it does some bogus at points where the active thread of a normal priority process wants another time slice, and in ready block there is a lower priority process who wants a brief time slice it gives the time slice to the active thus allowing stupid **** ups. I guess its not good at all ?
Some good patches to add might be BFQ and the smartass CPU scheduler. Both seem to be stable and have good performance on my Blade and my Wildfire

LOL.
I think it's bad for those who already have some extra scripts in the init.d.
It might causes some scripts to be malfunctioned.

I'm on miui 1.9.2 and decided to try. Removed my v6 supercharger scripts first and no issues so far. Neocore shows FPS at 48.8. A little low compared to what is mentioned in the op. I cant remember what the other popular fps test is. I think what needs to be mentioned is what this does differently fromthe supercharger script. What would make people want to use this beyond a flashable zip file?

[Q] Why is Stock rooted so much smoother than CM7?

I've found that stock 1.3 rooted is a lot smoother in scrolling animations and such... Will CM7 ever attain this smoothness? Yes, i have tried both overclocked at 1.2-1.3 ghz
What version of CM7? Was it an SD card install?
Sent from my LG Optimus V using Tapatalk
I've noticed the opposite, as long as cm7 doesn't have too many apps installed.
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
What sd card where you using? Not all are made the same.
I've used 7.0.3, 7.1RC1, and nightlies between around 140-165. All emmc
I don't deal with stock so can't tell how smoothness it is but it's a good sign.
If you like rooted stock ROM then go ahead and use it.
I like CM7, but I like the smoothness of stock. The bad thing is the missing features
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I have the same problem. My theory is that CM7 is just missing hardware acceleration on the nook at this time (I think I remember reading this somewhere). Maybe a driver issue?
I thought they had that worked out in the first stable release? Maybe that was just video acceleration
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Video is fixed, but that my be a different part of the driver.
(This is entirely speculation on my part, based on my somewhat sporadic - and decidedly incomplete - knowlage.) My guess: there are 3 parts to the video "card" driver. 2D hardware, 3D hardware, and coprocessor functions. When they fixed video, they probably got the coprocessor functions working, but not the 2D or 3D hardware.
There is a good chance I am wrong, so correct me if you know.
On a side note, why cant CM7 use the video driver from the stock FW? It's still a Linux kernel underneath so shouldn't the drivers work, or am I missing something completely?
That makes some sense, but games(at least angry birds haha) work okay... So I dont know.
On using the kernel from stock: they probably can't use the stock kernel, because stock is based on Froyo, and CM7 is Gingerbread

Almost none of the stock rom is open source. I'm pretty sure the stock video driver was never released.

[KERNEL] StarKissed Kangerade [3.0.86][UNIVERSAL]

This kernel is about customization. It is based on the work done for the Galaxy Nexus to bring as many available options as possible without causing bloat that could weigh down the system. This thread is not directed to the elite few, so there is no need to put on your fancy hat when you enter. Relax and enjoy your device.
The kernel comes in two versions. The first is the standard download, which uses an AnyKernel-style installation method. This is the kernel and modules with no ramdisk included.
The second version, which is labeled "Full" also includes the ramdisk for CM9 / CM10 / AOSP. This version will include things such as permission changes and additions to support extended options available to these ROMs. This will allow features like tethering, KSM, and video playback to be tweaked.

According to Twisted's github, the kernel is still using bcm4329 WiFi, so it should be safe to flash on OTA-based ROMs. However, I'm not 100% certain, so make a backup just in case you have issues.
Twisted, if you're interested, for the most part we're moving towards using evervolv's msm7x30-3.0 since they merged the mecha board and radio files in. It's confirmed to work and uses bcmdhd WiFi.
Thanks for this, but am i missing something, is there a reason there are 7 listed on the goo page?

I don't touch their work anymore. Long story.
I literally just started work on it last night before leaving. It is advertised as AOSP because it's a full package not just the kernel. I was replacing the current ramdisk to add some voltage stuff and calibration but that may change once I finish testing. The wifi drivers haven't been touched but I will be transitioning to a newer hd version from the nexus. I can currently get connection from my house at my car a block away so I think they'll be decent. It's a little extra work but it's better to start fresh with just the basics added, which is why I was originally going to source from santod's but ended up replacing that with nexus source anyway.
Also I did test both netflix and youtube and both work.

Alright, that's cool. It's nice to see you back in action, regardless. The bcmdhd drivers make connecting to WiFi nearly immediate for me, so there's a definite improvement. If you have a package of the kernel that doesn't modify the ramdisk then it should also work on OTA-based Sense ROMs as well. I haven't looked at your commits in-depth, though.

I don't touch their work anymore. Long story.
It is advertised as AOSP because it's a full package not just the kernel. I was replacing the current ramdisk to add some voltage stuff and calibration but that may change once I finish testing.
Also I did test both netflix and youtube and both work.

If you have a package of the kernel that doesn't modify the ramdisk then it should also work on OTA-based Sense ROMs as well. I haven't looked at your commits in-depth, though.
