I continued a bit the Ubuntu 0.3 project from dcordes and i think i achieved some enhancements^^
But i also need some help to upload this version cause i am currently on a 16kb/s
upload line and to upload some gigs over weeks would **** me up. I can send it
via mail to someone who is interrested in and has enough bandwith to upload it
(preferable from germany or europe)
Thanks to all the people who made the HD2 so awesome,
Cotulla, XDA ppl, DFT ppl, HTClinux, dcordes, hopkinskong, bardzusny and everyone else involved !
If you want to spend me a beer, you can do this here.
What works:
- Booting via Magldr
- Landscape Display orientation
- usb host
- Haret booting (thanks to the Help of Robbie P look at page 8 of this thread for the files)
- Touchscreen,
(with a relative not absolute pointer, feels much more like using a pc than a phone...)
- Wifi with encryption
- 3G network connection, sim-pin needs to be disabled !
(about 350kb/s on my network, maybe even
higher somewhere else need testers soon !
- Audio/audio player,
(The Kernel was compiled with 48.000 kHz in the
Alsa config what results in a "too fast sound" this
problem was also mentioned in the 0.1 Debian Thread.
Workaround i found for at least listen to normal Music
Was to pitch the sound to normal via AlsaPlayer.
but beside this, the player is very stable and takes
just a small amount of cpu-time)
- Audio Outputs
(Loudspeaker, Phonespeaker or Headphones)
- The Hardware Controls
(Display Brightness, LEDs etc)
- x11VNC Server
(not the fastest one due to workarounds, but still usable)
- PwnPi & Backtrack Tools
(not all but most atm)
- dpms
(..and its also possible to switch off the backlight,
so if someone finds a cool way to start a script on
the beginning of the screensaver and another script on
the end, it would be very helpful to extend the battery life)
- The common ubuntu stuff
What doesnt work:
- Monitor Mode for bc5329
(I was able to load the arm-compiled firmware from https://code.google.com/p/bcmon/
Wireshark captured some packets but wicd was not able to see networks anymore.., more
testing needed, experimental)
- Phone Feature,
(no calls no sms/mms sPhone stills needs to be loaded or 3g network wouldnt work
Edit: PlatinumBox wrote me that he can see incoming calls)
- Bluetooth,
(kernel side looking ok, but the rest is incomplete)
- Battery Stats
(no percentage, no recharging)
- Video Player
(Without Audio it looks delicious with Xine, even in
fullscreen, but due to the Audio problem mentioned before
it has desynchronized and laggy sound)
- Hardware keys,
(Kernel side ok but the xorg.conf and xinput settings are not correct)
- Second Mouse Button
(hope someone finds a better solution than the dwell applet, or get the hardware keys working !)
Not testet:
- usb eth
- adb
- vga out
- gps
- proximity
- cam
- mic
The Project needs:
- Kernel Developers (urgent)
- People who are familiar with implementing the msm/qsd x.org driver
- People who are able to crosscompile for arm's
- Developers that have good tools or scripts to embed
- Pentesters who want to contribute some toolchains and methods
- Designers / Webdesigners
- Translators
- People who are able to fix s.th.
If you want to enter the project, write me a pm with what you
can do and maybe some links to s.th. you have done.*
Installation:
I recommend everyone to rename the first FAT Partition of the SD card to "SD" or many things wont work !
(this should be done externally and not in the phone because ubuntu sets the mount points on boot time !)
You need the Magldr on your HD2
Extract all files from the downloaded archive "linux.zip" to the directory "linux" on your sd card
Set the right "Android from SD" folder in Magldr (SD/linux), select "Boot AD from SD"
The package "connman" should be deinstalled because its consuming too much cpu and doesn't work well together
with wicd, the wifi autoconnect after boot was also affected by this.
Password for both accounts is still "ubuntu"
Be careful what you install, it has Debian and Ubuntu repos. In some cases the "Force Version" Option helps
To get the Wifi working you need the drivers from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?6l365qz2jvc5hqh
- extract the two files (fw_bcm4329.bin & bcm4329.ko)
- move them to the root folder of your SD-Card
- boot up ubnhd2
- go to gnome-menu -> Stuff -> System -> bcd-res-upd
- take option 7 (Import ... from SD)
- takes a second
- Press the wifi-signal in the dock
- answer the dialog with ok
- after the vibration signal from the wifi script the networks can be
configured by clicking the icon in the menubar (wicd app)
Download 0.0.3.17 beta:

for haret version see Robbie's post on page 8

Welcome to the forum zo1d.
It looks great.
I can upload it in uk, and can Private Message you an address. Unless any German people come forward.
Not sure who the moderator is for this forum, try Poyensa, always very helpful.
United States of Leobuntu?
Welcome, zo1d, and thanks for your continuing this project.
I am looking forward very much to try out this on my HD2.
I believe the continued work on booting Linux desktop OS on our device is the next wave of exciting breakthroughs. This is the only way our HD2 already can successfully output to a monitor through USB to VGA/DVI cable, so I always am excited on any advancements on this front.
If shipping to US is feasible, I can upload it rapidly, it would be my pleasure to help.
Thanks again for this - the screenshot looks awesome, keep the fight going.
Open source, how don't love this?
Well some ideas for you my dear, you can try port ubuntu 12.04 with Unity 2D from lovely version for Nexus 7 and n900, if I can help tell me how

Why porting ? its already ARM compiled, but the problem is that the kernel i currently use (2.6.32.15)
is too old and misses the msm/qsd x.org driver. so without a fresh baked kernel i dont see reason to play around with 12.04..
I already got Ubuntu 11.4 working but there will never be a proper touschscreen input in landscape mode because
of a bug in the xinput version, the swap.axis option will not work.
btw. anyone using a kernel with sources/patches from here: git.tiamat-dev.com/htc-kernel-msm8x50 ?
I don't use Ubuntu on HD2, but we must have any app for manual change direction of screen.
Hmm did you cantry port n900 kernel ?

hey
i'm from germany and can it upload for you pm me!
mfg
Whats about putting it on on sourceforge to make it easier for others to continue the project.
The current wifi firmware isnt open source so it has to be copied to sd-card and would be copied
into the system via script.
Another option would be bcmon.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
but i couldnt get wicd working properly with it maybe someone can recompile it with a older
version of gcc.

¡Great work! It is the best S.O. that HD2 can received now that Windows Phone 7 is discontinued for Microsoft. I waiting updates very exciting.
I´m from Spain, send you my email for upload files
i think desktop os is very good for using , but ubuntu hasnt updated for one year . i really look forward to ur finally release! thanks very.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda app-developers app
Small update, i will send the current version to andikicker, btw thanx for helping out dude !, on the beginning of the next week, thanx also to Robbie P for the fast and helpful answers, nice community here. I also have a new screenshot with some new enhancements.
Some icons look a bit grey in the screenshot, but on the Screen of the HD they are white !
The touchscreen is configured to act relative and not absolute, this is to avoid having the thumb over the pointer and makes the navigation in small menus much easier and faster.
New are the MediaPlayer Controls in the Panel, and the Hardware Controls in the Menubar
Hope everybody have fun with !
has someone uploaded it yet??
Great work zo1d..
this would be just the perfect system for hd2!! hope to have a link soon.. really dying to get hold of this build!!!

Request for USBNet.
Thanks a lot for this job, Zo1d.
I wanna request, if possible, the inclussion of the module that allows connecting a USB Ethernet adapter (I think its name is "USBNet"); another Ubuntu versions I found for HD2 did not have it .
I think it would be useful, since my HTC would become nearly a minibarebone.
Thanks.

I just cant test it atm (still need to build or buy the "usb-out" cable, but good idea ! i have a usb2eth dongle here, RTL8150 so maybe looking next weeks for the adapter and a powered usb-hub). If it doesn't has to be implemented into the kernel, it shouldn't be a problem to integrate it in this build but as i said i cannot test it. Upload it somewhere and/or send me the link and i do my best.

I don't have any uploadable module, sorry .
I mentioned it because I requested equivalent network features for Ubuntu on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=889433&highlight=sopalajo&page=59
(read post #582 )
Maybe this page of that thread could help? Some people answer about it.
I hope I am not going off-topic.

Needs a kernel object.. found it here http://git.tiamat-dev.com/htc-kernel-msm8x50/tree/drivers/net/usb?h=android-msm-2.6.32-increciblec
I got this phone a month ago and need much more time for stuff like this, due to the fact that wifi works, usb-net
doesn't have a high priority atm, but it would be very nice if it will work someday i agree...

Bahh, so many time for this, a shareware app...
And so many time to develop a new version and not even the inclusion to be able to choose new ring files from another path...
Sticking with PPCProfiles Pro 3.00a...
Review of Profiles for Windows Mobile 2.0
I have tried a number of different profilers and i like this one best because of a simple interface and low resource needs. It feels like its part of wm5 whilst the others always feel like addons and generally slow the device down.
Well i have tested the new version on my O2 orbit and first impressions are good.
- It has same interface and looks as 1.2 version but is enhanced
- Up to 9 profiles which is more than most of the competition.
- Vibration now works when selected under wm5.
- Bluetooth has discoverable option which is desirable.
- Ability to set profile including wifi on/off when roaming.
- Ringtones can now be selectable from the storage card\my documents folder
- Midi files can now be played as a ringtone
- Screen rotate feature useful for car profile
- Scheduler works well on my device and is a welcome addition
- No glitches or bugs on my device yet.
Wishlist
1. Backlight change with profile
2. GPRS on\off would be a welcome addon
3. Run program in a profile interface is too basic - file menu needed and the ability to use lnk's and not just exe's will make this more versatile.
4. Options interface to be wm5 style rather than old 2003 style and annoying popup of keyboard stopped
So i am certainly interested in buying this profiler and have a couple of questions.
Does the cost include future updates?
Does each device need a separate code? - i have a wizard and an orbit
Are any of the things on my wishlist in the pipeline?
There seemed to be no alpha or beta released (i often checked your forum) why not?
The program size has gone from 94kb to 340kb any possibilty of trimming to reduce size (sounds a contradiction looking at my wishlish) but ? more efficient coding or compression of dll's
Will there be more participation in the forum by yourself as in the past seems lacking and many of the users post not answered.
Thanks again and good work! I hope you take all my criticisms as constructive.
Well, a lot of things have happened in the last year that kept me away from my PC. One of these was the complete crash of my laptop, with a complete lost of all the sources... my last backup was 2 version older... PWM has been rewritten from scratch.
Let me reply to each and every point:
Wishlist - options 1..3 are on the way! I just needed to deliver something and test the user's reactions. I will keep on working on it, if it's worth to...
I don't get your point for wish #4... I'm sure you're going to wipe my doubts away...
Beta - There has been a Beta phase of course. And I posted a message here too, seeking for volunteers... got just one reply, and when it was to late, too.
Program Size - Unfortunately the increase in size is mostly due to images stored into the applet file's resources and the use of the ATL libraries for embedding WMP (sounds preview). I personally would get rid of the sounds preview, but its was one of the most wanted features...
Participation in forum - I'm actually spending several hrs a day in replying to the messages I get in several forums. It's 3:24 now and I'm still here... so my answer is YES! you will feel my presence amongst you!
Licensing: Each device need it's own license. In case of multiple licenses for the same owner, the price would be heavly reduced. License will surely be valid for all 2.x future releases. Whilst I still see room for improvements, I do not believe they will justify a version 3 or 4....
Criticisms are very welcome! I got no better way to improve myself...

Thanks for that slvrbllt - sorry that i missed your beta request post - if it had been in the wizard forum i would have surely picked it up - I am happy to do any future testing.
Correct me if i am wrong but wm5 interface usually has keyboard central and 2003 to the right - no big deal - its just the keyboard popup thing that irritates - EDIT this is only on my artemis - on the wizard it has wm5 interface and no keyboard popup problem.
EDIT2 - problem is fixed on my artemis by unticking 'support wm5.0 soft-keys' exiting, opening and then ticking the box again.
Is it possible to do separate versions? - wm5 and 2003 - it may get round this bug.
I am glad 1 & 3 are in the pipeline and ? 2 not diff to impliment surely - if not I can use a lnk file to work this.
Well you have one customer sold.
btw i have noticed an occ duplicate notification from the scheduler and i will keep an eye on this. Please keep working on this its a great profiler!
Thanks meschle!
Got you listed on my customers spreadsheet... I'll do my best to move your name to the "very satisfied customers" column!

I don't think so. I mean, it's not a technical problem (can be easily done).
I can't see any difference between letting the PDA insert the PIN for you and disabling the PIN request on the SIM.
While I can see security related issues (PIN must be stored somewhere...)
I was testing another product some time ago, and decided to give the auto PIN feature a try. Unfortunately I keyed in the wrong PIN number. Before I realised that, my SIM was locked. To make things even worse, I could not find my PUK...
Now my new SIM does not ask for a PIN anymore.
Ciao!
Well, I tried the previous version of this program and also of PPC Profiles Pro... I liked them both, but at my I-Mate JAMin (and I don't know why) once installed I couldn't go anymore to the Sound & Notifications (or Phone) settings, because after doing that it none of them works ok no more... also it damages all of my default ringtones and I can't select anything else. Even after uninstalling the progs the problem of default ringtones continues So I decided to never use this king or programs again in my ppc...
(sorry for my poor english)
I've just got a T-Mobile MDA Vario II, and i found your profiles program and it does the job perfectly, i love the simple today plugin, just what i was looking for. I like the apps i use to have the default windows look and feel and WPM certainly has that.
I have just placed my order, i look forward to receiveing my license

How are we able to select from Storage card, from the drop down list in the selectable tones are only showing the ones within Windows directory.
WM 6.1/6.5 version coming?
do you plan to release version that supports newer Windows Mobile versions?
This program is something I miss bad from the Nokia S60 world. I still can't believe it is not part of the core OS.
Project Orphaned and/or looking for main developer!
First of all I'd like to say thank you to the community of people who helped bring Sunscape this far. The people from xda developers, as well as those who joined in the meanwhile make this forum an excellent place to start, maintain, develop and most importantly test any type of software.
Sadly, I lack the resources, for example time, to continue my development of Sunscape. During the time I've been writing and testing this program I have tried to provide an alternative to what we already have on the market. I'm currently looking to orphan the project and/or find a main developer to co-author the program. Perhaps somebody with more talent, will and desire to continue Sunscape.
Thus, if there's anybody willing to either take up the whole project and move on with it, or be the main developer of this project with my assistance, I would very much be interrested. Please let me know, I'll keep checking my messages to see if somebody is interested. Thank you!

[About]
Sunscape is an opensource alternative to the iPhone lock. Sunscape tries to allow the user to fully configure the screen locker down to the very last details as well as maintaining a small memory footprint and trying to be as compatible as possible with very many different devices.
[Requirements]
This app has been tested on an Axim x51v and by a couple of people reporting it to be stable enough. It's ongoing development so I appreciate any kind of complaint, suggestion, bug, code modification or anything else you'd like to do. These are the minimum requirements:
Windows Mobile 5 onward (sorry wm2003 users out there)
Compact Framework 2.0
[Features]
R2U (rub to unlock) and S2U (slide to unlock)
vga/qvga anything, depends what you configure it to be!
fully configurable interface (including graphics etc...) based on a documented XML file with configuration tool.
on screen display for time, date, appointments, alarms.
on screen display of battery, messages, notes, emails, signal, weather, etc...
uses pressure-points instead of "slide to unlock", future releases will include other nifty ways to unlock based on touch.
has a small memory footprint and triggers based on time and load opposed to OEM "backlight" triggers.
can hotswap portrait vs landscape, ie, it will automatically switch to landscape or portrait mode on supported devices.
has separate configuration options for both modes portrait and landscape.
supports fully configurable full screen callerID and answer or reject by reaching a pressure point.

Stable releases are those who were thoroughly tested by several people. They don't contain the latest features, modifications or bugfixes but they are bound to work and be compatible with the themes you've seen above. Snapshot releases are development releases with new features and enhancements and are thus prone to not work correctly. In either case, if you've found a bug, please report it and I'll fix it asap!

If you downloaded the CAB file, just copy to your device and install as normal. In case you've downloaded the stable version, you'll find the CAB file in SunscapeCAB/Release and you can copy it to your device and install.
You will have three utilities installed: Sunscape - this is the main program and, when launched, will stay resident until the CPU Threshold is below the configured value; Sunscape Remote - this utility will help you control Sunscape while it is running; Sunscape Unlock - this will turn off Sunscape completely; Sunscape Config - this is the main configuration tool including some documentation. However, if you wish to theme for Sunscape, please refer to the Sunscape.xml file since it's a bit more detailed.

I'd like to thank A_C for being an inspiration, the guys at ppcwarez who were very helpful in accommodating my first release as well as testing it. Also many thanks to this thread and xda-developers for their useful comments and feedback that made this application come alive. I'd also like to thank master athlon, sempixel and ruebyi for their nice themes, -Arthuro- for the nice visible icons. Thank you!
thanks dude. will give it a try tomorrow.
thanks you.. I Go in to test.. lol
dang it, it doesnt work for me! i get The file 'Sunscape' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componets...etc. any idea as to why this might happen. using ETEN M600 w/ Kozhura's WM6.1 ROM
Not working on HTC Hermes - unhandled exception or something like that. Deinstalled...

Compact Framework 2.0 or higher installed?
master athlon:
Tough one! Usually happens if some component is not found... Like pilgrim011, please check you have Compact Framework 2.0 or higher installed... There shouldn't be a pretty solid reason it doesn't run, it runs fine on a ETEN Glofish X800.

The one that comes with Windows Mobile 6 Professional(latest official HTC ROM), so - 2.0.
Hmm, tried a hard reset on a TyTN II - works...
Installed to storage card or device? Install to storage card doesn't work.
EDIT: It would be helpful if you can say what that error actually is...
It's working now - I reinstalled it to main storage, previous it was on storage card. Tomorrow I'll continue with testing.

i installed it to the main storage, not the storage card. but i'll try to see what i can do about compact framework, although Kozhura's rom should already have CF 2.0 in there. thx for your help though.

Great! Ok, about the 12hr clock - doesn't it respect the regional settings? ie: if you've set your pda to 12hr clock doesn't it respect that? If not - I'll add a 12hr option in the configuration file. Easily done!
Lock on wakeup - Ok here's the thing. The previous version went exactly that way but I moved away from that for two reasons:
1.) The code was overly proprietary - believe it or not but it's like... very hard to tell when a power event is triggered. Ok not hard, but it MAY happen that different device types send different codes. I implemented it using the standard WM_BACKLIGHT_OFF on an Axim51v and to my surprise it wasn't working on an Eten (figures it used another code).
2.) The previous version was a bit slow - it happened that I wanted to turn on my phone to access some files quickly and instead of turning on quickly and accessing the files I was sitting there watching the screen lock... Annoying indeed!
In both cases, I'll see if there's some way around it (ie: to not use power events) and lock the screen on startup through some option in the configuration file.
Thanks again!
Not working
I hope i did really everything right but i get a unhandeld exception occured.
Hermes 300 offical WM6 German Version.
Installed on main memory
then i installed NET3.5 with reboot.
no way -> unhandeld exception
Time: no for some reason it doesnt respect the regional settings, i have mine set to US Central time, and it shows up with 24 hour clock regardless.
Lock: no big deal, i know what you mean about staring at the screen, i had the same prob with S2U2, thats why i dont use it anymore, but thanks for the heads up.
does it have a full screen caller ID like S2U2 cause thats the main reason i use it S2U2

Nope. Actually it should exit on an incoming call and let other "better" programs handle it. If it is a request, I can implement it and make it optional.

this "NO" is answer of which question ? 1 or 2 or 3 or ... 10 ?
1. Connect phone to PC and transfer file without install driver [live USB flashs] - First you need to change a setting on the usb connection and then it can be used as an usb flash drive, but I think it will still install drivers (but not Kies)
6. Lug fix package (application) work ? everything work nice after it ? - I didn't feel I needed a fix and so didn't install any.
7. Screen work like charm under sun - No, when I'm out I have to increase the display brightness and it isn't very easy to see, but I had the same problem with other mobiles.
8. Do make you happy i9000? Yes, very stylish, very light.
9. How much did you buy it ? Contract with Orange via phones4u.co.uk

um why would you do that?

sure if you care for homecooked beta-versions

Android IS linux. You don't have to install another linux distro on top of it. But the answer is yes, you can (but it will slow your phone).
As for the driver, you need to install the phone drivers to your pc before you mount the phone. Nokia did the same. Any smartphone does. The only difference is that because of android-linux, you have to mount the drivers before you can use them.

I'll also add, you might like Linux, but Android is Linux, and standard linux distributions are horrible for phones. Remember, smartphones require that applications can be killed at any time to run efficiently. Meego would probably be the only other open Linux platform suitable for phones probably, but that is intel only I think (i9000 is ARM).
The question is, do you like Linux because it is good, or because it is open source? Because there seems to be a whole army of users pushing Ubuntu and other Linux distro's, even though it often isn't the best choice for them (desktop linux distro's still have serious usability issues). What's even more of a surprise is that open source advocates are clinging to Linux, rather than BSD..
Anyway, someone has apparently gotten Ubuntu running on them, but don't expect a nice experience. Android already uses Linux, and is better suited for mobiles (furthermore, most of the i9000 software/drivers/environment is open source)
Everyone agree this is the Android phone at this point in time?
I think so .

That isn't a good reason.. Even on windows you can switch the standard desktop and perform heavy theming if you wish to do so..
And frankly, I'm sorry to tell you, the Linux kernel isn't THAT great. Since it's open source, it never evolved to allow many drivers to be backwards/forward compatible like Windows. Also, since it's GPL, it is impractical for some device developers to implement drivers (since some devices are mainly software based)..
But yes, Android DOES use Linux, but I strongly urge you to take a deeper look into the situation.

Maybe thats good enough for you? They say it can be done but its very slow.
Make your Xperia X1 Optimized and Faster
Hello guys I'm here to share to you how to make your X1 faster ( I mean not oc'ing) to make it responsive and play 3d games faster. For example when I'm running Flight Commander on stock X1 driver it is laggy and I cannot almost play the game, when I installed the Omnia Drivers and with a little performance tweak you can make it faster and responsive and of course PLAYABLE.
Software Needed:
1. SJ Samsung Omnia Driver D3D
2. Advanced Configuration Tools V3.3
Installation
1. Install Samsung Omnia Driver cab
2. Beam or put the 3 files on your memory stick or phone then run the EXE(advanced configuration tool v3.3)
Advanced Configuration Tool
For advanced configuration tool here is the snapshot of the registry edited.

You are responsible for your system. Before editing the registry files take note of the default values. This tutorial made my xperia x1 faster however there may be conditions such as the rom used (I used 826X rom) of course we are free to try. On whatever rom.
I will post the before and after video later (I don't have time making it. )
and of course It is important to have your feedbacks thanks.

Nice! you tried it? the results are awesome right? if not awesome still better. Right? One of the reason I love my xperia. Although SE made f8ckng drivers, yet people here in xda find solutions to their problems. thanks for trying and for the feedback.
Energy Roms already have Advanced Config Tool installed, is it really necessary to use the attachment?
And btw isnt there already a discussion abt graphics drivers where several benchmark reports are already posted as feedback?
thanks in advance for any reply
nah. this is a combo. I mean I don't see any topics which uses this two. So basically I tried and I compared from stock. Btw. Idk if energy roms have one. of course it is the same as long as the settings modified is it?
thanks for sharing, but missing screenshot with settings.
Missing snapshot.
So-so. I've installed Sample 3D applications. Run they all. Almost all OK.
Billboard app runs nice.
Then I installed Omnia Driver 'n' reboot.
And? Billboard app runs SLOW AS HELL!
I sure it is not perfect drivers for X1.

Lol a combo? To begin with the Samsung D3D driver is only software rendering since are processors don't have that type D3D. Their are definitively better drivers and like MR. Black'd said there is already threads about different drivers for the MSM 7200A .

this may have some effect on stockrom, but on a good custom rom it will rather break things. in the past 2 1/2 years i've seen every cook come back to x1-drivers sooner or later.
when it comes to drivers, ultrashot's roms are the nonplusultra. he's done a great job in optimizing them. as a bonus, if you don't like his ready roms, you can get his kitchen as a base. takes some time to learn if you always just used cabs by others, but it's worth it! nothing beats your own, personal rom.
best start with modifying a rom and then work your way up to making your own, removing and adding packages as you see fit.
It fast thank for share

is it possible to play nfs shift without lag on the xperia x1 with this driver here?
i have a normal stock rom but i dont wanne destroy something when installing a new driver
a) dunno
b) i'm not gonna flash stockrom and test nfs with this driver for you
c) nfs shift is aimed at devices like hd2 (hardware...)
d) how you're gonna emulate g-sensor? (i can see you already stumbled on this yourself)
e) try a rom by ultrashot (i've never seen better hw-accelerated vid-playback than with his x1-drivers)
edit:
f) tried the game. animations looked slightly laggy, yet still driveable to me. but i can't really say because all i did was crashing along the side. and that's because you can't stear without a g-sensor. no option to change controls ingame, in reg or in a file.
just remove the files: smiHapticsServer_1.dll and SmiSensorServer_1.dll from windows directory. Now you can play the game by pressing j and k for left and right and d for drift.
it works fine, its just a little laggy
Stock Rom, got slower in launching apps, switching screens, briefly freezes sometimes..of course idk the reason..
**** i have a big problem with my X1...i installed the omnia graphic driver it was ok but not that good and in "device info" it was on 528mhz but in wimospeed on 672 like all the time i use it.i thought when i uninstall this cab, there is no graphic driver anymore,so i started spb backup to make a backup from yesterday to get the old settings back..then i made a restart...
after restart windows mobile starts but
the graphic looks wrong,to small,he doesnt find the storage card anymore so 90 % of my programs doesnt work and i cant do a backup again...i had the cab from omnia d3d on my device so i tryed to install this again but it failed..i couldnt install the cab
what can i do,is there a solution without a hardreset, cause i have important stuff on the phone
what does i have to do PLEASE GUYS give me an advice/answer!!!
thank you

Hi guys, after a few months and a few posts in XDA's Windows 8 Development forum, it's time for the official demo and beta release of VirtualGamepad for Windows 8 Tablet. I look forward to your feedback here and on the VirtualGamepad website. I would like to thank Netham45 for his initial release.
The Freeware Demo is obviously free, the Beta is currently in a phase of Donationware.
There's a couple of reasons for that, among them :
1 - Build a pool of dedicated Beta Testers who are going to be involved in the forums and on my issues database.
2 - Build new features that would require costly 3rd party licenses (Hardware Joystick Emulation for example).
3 - Cover some of the development costs including the website, new tablets for better support, etc. ( I don't even know if it still works on Windows RT !)
You can get the Freeware for free. You can also donate and get the Freeware, Beta and Future Release. It's your call.
Initially, netham45 wanted to release it for free to XDA members and I want to respect that. If you were a standing member of XDA by November 20th 2013, contact me to get the discount code This code is meant for XDA members only, so please do not share elsewhere. Also, please use your XDA account name to register.

Well, sadly it doesn't work on RT. Installer itself is x86 app; trying to run app gives no error, but task disappears from task manager in few seconds.

Hello,
The demo is currently limited to WASD, the beta version allows you to assign different keys to the four directions in the analog joystick ! I will also try to make some tutorial video asap
VirtualGamepad Update Version 1.01
Hello,
A new version of VirtualGamepad has been released today. This version should enable Windows RT compatibility, answer a few feature requests and address a few issues. It does require higher administrative rights as we found them necessary for certain games like Elder Scroll Online.
If you have already downloaded VirtualGamepad, log in into your account and your updates will be available here.
Windows may warned you about this new release, it is totally understandable considering the increased security requirements. I will eventually get a trust certificate allowing me to sign VirtualGamepad properly. In the meanwhile, it’s a matter of trust between you and me.
Great program should make desktop games much better on tablets. I have an 8" tablet that I run at 125% magnification, and this seems to cause some of the buttons to be off center. Not a huge deal as I can run at 100%, but heres a screenshot of what happens at 125%.

Thank you very much for this snapshot. Is it only affecting the visual aspect of the game or is the control off center too ? Does the WASD joystick work properly ? I see you have the latest update, that's great. I'll put this issue in the issues database and try to figure out a solution. I think I know how to do it... but that would require me to check what is the current value of the magnification.

Its only the visual part, for example the top left directional pad buttons look offset but they actual buttons line up with the circle where they should. So the position of the d-pad graphic would need to be lined up with the circle at 125% and everything would work.
I'll have to see how games work at 125%, I may end up just switching back to 100% when I plan to game if their graphics are messed up as well.

FYI : I have already fixed this issue in my development environment, it'll be release with the next update... probably in a few days once I have enough fixes to justify another release I need to implement an update notification so I don't have to email all my user everytime there's an update

Well let's say they are very few... I'd really like people to participate on the forum though, get feature request, etc. Hopefully, in time enough to cover for the website and plugins cost.
When I looked at the code a few months ago and decided to completely rewrote it in C#, the idea was to answer my own need on having such a utility (Gameplay from Gestureworks was still unannounced and Overwolf's touch controller was (back then) only a video).
When PalmTime was "kinda" founded 15 years ago to do PalmOS, WindowsCE and PsionS5 development, it was a small group of developers working together on a bunch of little projects. Back then we released PocketChess with TinyWare, Pyramid, Frotz (Zork) Emulators, Missile Defense, etc. I'd like to bring that spirit back.
My intentions right now is to re-invest everything back into the development and support. It's to build some sort of community for people to share their virtual gamepad, etc. participate on the forum and issues database. Donation are nice, but for me, they don't beat the interest people may have to it. I'd rather have 20 users from XDA join in on the fun and participate on the forum right now than 1 donation... But although I'll admit, I'd like to cover for some of the cost:
Website registration.
Website skin.
Cart plugin.
Then I'd like to re-invest:
Get a Publisher Certification (found a cheap provider)
Hardware Analog Joysticks : either get a Driver Signing Certification (found a cheap provider) or embed a 3rd party solution to emulate.
Add more functionality.
Eventually push feature in the freeware, etc...
I can't download any of the demos. They all take me to an error page with "Sorry but your download link has expired."
Overlay in fullscreen?
Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. Got the program installed and created a few controls. All works fine and controls games/apps when there in a windows but as soon as I try and run anything full screen the on-screen controls disappear?!
Thanks

From the about page :
It supports “Windowed Fullscreen” and “Windowed” mode games. It does NOT support “Fullscreen” mode as it would requires injecting the UI into the game’s graphic library. Which is often perceived as a EULA violation. Regardless we are not responsible for any EULA violation resulting from using VirtualGamepad.
I modified my download page and should have put that information there somehow... It's on the feature list on the main page too. But I undersdand the confusion.
BUT it's something we, for sure, would like to implement. Put your game in windowed mode for now
