Almost certain it will be mini-sim.
SIM is being phased out and will not exist soon, as there is now mini (one down from normal SIM) and Micro (one down from mini, basically just the gold within the sim)
So yeah, the middle one, mini sim, which is the same is iPhone/HOX/S3 etc etc.

That's Micro SIM. The even smaller one you describe is a Nano SIM. And technically, the 'regular' SIMs we're used to are Mini SIM.
Full SIM was actually the size of a credit card (which is why we get SIM cards in a card like this -- The large one is actually usable in 'full' SIM devices).

SO on the google blog, it says that the Nexus 7 3G will be available for purchase tomorrow. But there is no indication of that on the google play store like there is for the nexus 4. I also just called the google CS line, and they said that they don't have a solid release date yet
Humm, I was thinking of ordering this, but the carrier I use for my existing tablet does not have a micro SIM. Perhaps I should take it to one of the mall stores where they know how to do this stuff properly and have them cut it down for me.

Ordered mine from the UK Play Store a couple of hours ago.
I have the Nexus 7 32GB 3G right here and I'm furious because indeed, it requires a MICRO-SIM.
The slot is large enough for a regular mini-SIM but there is a plastic tray that you place your micro SIM into that artificially makes this slot smaller.
Without the tray there is 1mm missing for the width of a regular mini sizes SIM card.
FAIL!!!

Nexus 7 3G - SIM Or Micro SIM
I ordered a Nexus 7 today and I am wondering if I can transfer the SIM card data from my current SIM card to a micro SIM card by just stopping in a T-Mobile store? Also, do they usually charge for that? I assume that adapters are available so I could use the micro SIM with an adapter in my legacy phone.
Also, if I insert a T-Mobile micro SIM will I get regular T-Mobile service on the Nexus 7 or does T-Mobile (US) somehow restrict tablets or charge more for that?
Also, do I understand correctly that a SIM card has to be in the Nexus 7 for it to work, even if I am trying to connect via wifi?

3) Your Nexus 7 will be blocked from the network if you try to insert a TMo phone SIM in the tablet.
4) No, the N7 works just fine without a SIM.

The Nexus 7 3g was bought as a gift for my brother and my experience is as follows:
The Nexus 7 3g from the play store is shipped with an AT&T sim.
Nopes. you don't need the sim in the nexus 7 for it to connect to Wi-fi.
As for the swapping - I have the T-mo micro-sim on my Note II and when I popped it with the Nexus 7, it read the Sim and all that, but did not transfer any data (probably because it is locked on to my Note II).

I want to remove the SIM card from my still working Infuse and put it in my s3. The problems is that sim card in the new S3 is about half the size as the older standard Sim card. Do I have to go to the ATT store and have them program a new sim card that fits my S3 with my new number?

i used a micro SIM cutter and cut my existing SIM card to fit in, coming from my atrix. just wanted to try it. i could connect to network but could not get data. so i just activated the micro SIM it came with instead.
why didn't your phone come with a micro SIM?

I got it from a friend and it does not have a sim with it. Thats why Im curious it the att store will put a micro sim in it with the number I have now.

They should. They may charge you the $36 'activation fee' for the new SIM.
I'm fairly certain you need a new SIM due to the GS3 being LTE, and the Infuse being HSPA+.
I just made the switch, myself, this morning...from Infuse. What a difference!!!

The only places that will charge you for a new sim are "authorized" sales channels, not corporate owned AT&T stores. Go into ANY corporate AT&T store and you'll have a working SIM in a few minutes, no questions asked, free of charge. They'll probably ask to play with your phone or try to sell you accessories though.

I have been with sprint for a long time and never had to mess with sim cards. I am now with att and I have a question about sim cards and activations. I have an android phone right now with att that I am going to replace with the note 2. Can I just pull the sim card from the current phone and put it in the new one? Or do I have to take it into the att store? Also does this cause an activation fee?

You can just switch the SIM. If it's an already activated SIM (meaning it had service in the prior phone) there should not be an activation fee.

Yes, one of the great things about gsm/sim cards. Easy swappable. If your current phone uses standard mini sim, you will need to cut it down to work in the note2/other newer phones that use micro sim cards.
Currently using the original note. So I don't know what kind of sim it has.

Your can use a SIM cutter. No need to go-to a store. Just be careful and follow the instructions. I've used it twice on various phones.

Just insert that to any unlocked phone you want,
Our policy at at&t is if its a gsm it's possible,
No fees for device transfer since we have a SIM number as a basis of the account not the IMEI or ESN

I have changed phones before and just changed the sim from one phone to the next. I also went to att when another phone took am smaller sim and the att rep got a smaller sim and updated it and handed it to me and said have a nice day. I love att's customer service.
I currently own the Galaxy Nexus and I use the $30/month T-Mobile Monthly4G plan with the regular SIM card that I purchased from them about 6 months ago.
Now, I am looking to purchase the LG Nexus 4 unlocked from the Google Play store, and I would like to be able to transfer my current T-Mobile plan from my GNex to my Nexus 4 as easily and effortlessly as possible. I have heard that the Nexus 4 uses microSIM cards instead of the regular SIM card which fit into the GNex. Is this true? If so, where can I purchase a microSIM online from T-Mobile? I've searched their site, but they won't let me buy a microSIM card unless I sign-up for a plan, but I'm already on a Monthly4G plan with them -- I just need a new microSIM for my new phone.
Also, how will the transfer of service work (from people who have had experience with this type of thing or with T-Mobile Monthly4G before)? Will I have to place the new microSIM card into my Nexus 4, then call up the notoriously lackluster T-Mobile support center and put in a request for them to transfer my service plan from my old SIM card to my new microSIM? Also, will they need the IMEI device ID of my Nexus 4 in order to transfer my service, or will they just be able to transfer it to the new microSIM card without that information?
I apologize for all of my questions thrown out there in a bit of a rush, but I'd just like to know how to easily make the transfer from my GNex to a new Nexus 4 while keeping my current $30/month Monthly4G plan with T-Mobile and having as little trouble as possible (and hopefully not having to go without phone service for too long during the transfer).

Cut down your regular SIM to Micro-SIM size...
Well, alright, but even if I were to do that, does T-Mobile designate a particular phone IMEI or serial number to each plan that you activate with them? So, for example, if I were to somehow successfully trim my SIM card to fit into my Nexus 4, would my Nexus 4 have all of the regular T-Mobile call and data services available on it from my Monthly4G plan, even though I switched it from the device with which it was originally registered to a completely new device? I seem to recall entering an IMEI number or some sort of serial number when I first registered my SIM with T-Mobile's Monthly4G plan, though I could be wrong. I'm just checking to make sure.
Also, with regard to cutting the SIM to fit in the microSIM slot -- can I just cut it with a pair of scissors or an X-acto knife blade and fit it in, and then without any sort of adapter of any kind, it will just work as though I had placed a microSIM in there? I've heard conflicting reports on other forums that, even if you cut it, you'd still need some sort of miniSIM to microSIM adapter, or something to that effect, so correct me if I'm wrong here.

You don't understand how SIM cards work. It will work. Just cut it down and put it in. Done.
You can print out a template online, print it out and cut it using that, no adapter needed.

Just got my shipping confirmation email from Verizon, they are also shipping a 4G NFC sim card (even though I didn't selected in my order).
Currently I am using the 4G sim card (got with Gnex) in my GS3.
When I receive Note 3 - which sim card should I use, can I use my old 4G sim card in NOTE 3 or do I have to activate the new sim?
I have unlimited data and upgrading (ordered during the "glitch"), does sim card has any effect on the data plan (don't want to loose my unlmtd data)?
Are any of you also receiving 4G NFC sim card with Note 3?

i think they send out a new sim card because the Note 3 requires a micro sim. i could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

Isn't NFC part of the battery? The specs show the battery has the NFC chip in it.

So it sounds like Verizon is issuing SIM cards with NFC on them in anticipation of ISIS. I wonder how the NFC on the SIM card and the built-in NFC on the battery will interact with each other?

I was able to order an ISIS SIM for my Note II and the NFC payment process and the NFC transfer process both worked fine.

The NFC in the battery is just the antenna, where as the NFC in the sim has nothing to do with that.

Yeah, now I see that the NFC element on the SIM only contains data, such as for ISIS.
So if there is any difference in the SIM cards, the question for those of us activating on an alternate line, then swapping our main (unlimited data attached) SIM cards the question is:
After that process is finished, can we walk into Verizon and say "hey, can I get one of those new fancy SIM cards with NFC? "

Yes, you can do exactly that. I did that on my g'nex to try and use ISIS...never worked, but the sales rep had no issue upgrading the SIM. No charge and no threat to unlimited data.
Just to clarify, by the way: the SIM cards do not make a phone NFC-enabled by default. You can't suddenly start tapping if you plug an "NFC-Enabled" SIM into an older phone like a Droid Razr or equivalent. They simply provide another place for credit card info or other secure information to be stored, called a Secure Element. I'm fairly sure that ISIS is the only service that uses the SIM-based SE, as Google Wallet uses the SE that comes integrated in the battery on most other phones (yes, there's a little bit of flash memory in the battery). The reason for the use of the SIM card is because it's 100% carrier owned and controlled--if anyone recalls, that was the excuse used to keep Google Wallet off the play store: the carriers wanted access to the SE, but the SE was on the phone, which they didn't necessarily own. So now they get the SE in something that they *do* actually own, and nobody's any happier for it.

Verizon sends out a new SIM for all orders regardless of what kinda SIM you have in your current device. When you go online to activate (which is how i suggest you do it) you will use the new SIM.
Why would they offer then? ^

Currently I don't have a SIM card on my N7 LTE, and I regularly change roms
In the US (unsure about t-mobile outside US) you can get a t-mobile micro sim card, sometimes free or $0.99 but currently $10, and activate it for 200MB/month free data. Wonderful starter program and great for developers too.
