I want to remove the SIM card from my still working Infuse and put it in my s3. The problems is that sim card in the new S3 is about half the size as the older standard Sim card. Do I have to go to the ATT store and have them program a new sim card that fits my S3 with my new number?

i used a micro SIM cutter and cut my existing SIM card to fit in, coming from my atrix. just wanted to try it. i could connect to network but could not get data. so i just activated the micro SIM it came with instead.
why didn't your phone come with a micro SIM?

I got it from a friend and it does not have a sim with it. Thats why Im curious it the att store will put a micro sim in it with the number I have now.

They should. They may charge you the $36 'activation fee' for the new SIM.
I'm fairly certain you need a new SIM due to the GS3 being LTE, and the Infuse being HSPA+.
I just made the switch, myself, this morning...from Infuse. What a difference!!!

The only places that will charge you for a new sim are "authorized" sales channels, not corporate owned AT&T stores. Go into ANY corporate AT&T store and you'll have a working SIM in a few minutes, no questions asked, free of charge. They'll probably ask to play with your phone or try to sell you accessories though.

It's a micro sim. The simplest route is to purchase a micro sim from Rogers and use their client website to transfer your service to the new sim. You could cut it yourself but why bother?
I'm going to be cutting my Koodo sim into a micro sim when I get the Nexus 4. Much quicker than having to talk to someone on the phone.

I'm not specifically familiar with Koodo, but Bell, Rogers, Fido, and Telus allow you to change your sim card using their website - no need to talk to anyone. I just picked up a new Bell sim for $5 - way less hassle than cutting.

Just walk in to a Rogers store and ask to purchase a micro sim. They should be able to sell you the correct one. They also sell an "iphone 4" sim card which should work fine in andy 3G device, you'll just have to ignore the silly branding.

I'll have to take a second look at the iPhone 4 sims. I don't really feel like going into a rogers store but I can't find a non-lte sim on website.

What's with Canadian carriers charging their customers for SIM cards?? That's crazy. I know AT&T, you walk in store ask for one and you walk out with one, simple, and its FREE.

I've paid as much as $30 for a micro sim card from Rogers for an iPhone 4.
My dad just paid $9 for an LTE regular sim card on the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE
Sorry to hijack this thread but I did a Google Search and I came to this "canadian sim card" thread.
But can someone verify if I can use my Rogers Micro Sim Card that is a voice sim card but has a 3G data plan on it work on the Nexus 7 Mobile? Because it works on iPad 1 + Data versions.
It's kinda hard to find the answer but I'm still searching.

It should. Phones are backwards compatible for sure (LTE sim in an HSPA+-only phone will just use HSPA+), but you won't get LTE/4g/HSPA+
An LTE microsim is all of $10 from rogers. They don't even offer other sims anymore

I walked in today and the lovely employee told me it would be $35. Screw Rogers in the face, I'm cutting my card.

Just got my shipping confirmation email from Verizon, they are also shipping a 4G NFC sim card (even though I didn't selected in my order).
Currently I am using the 4G sim card (got with Gnex) in my GS3.
When I receive Note 3 - which sim card should I use, can I use my old 4G sim card in NOTE 3 or do I have to activate the new sim?
I have unlimited data and upgrading (ordered during the "glitch"), does sim card has any effect on the data plan (don't want to loose my unlmtd data)?
Are any of you also receiving 4G NFC sim card with Note 3?

i think they send out a new sim card because the Note 3 requires a micro sim. i could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

Isn't NFC part of the battery? The specs show the battery has the NFC chip in it.

So it sounds like Verizon is issuing SIM cards with NFC on them in anticipation of ISIS. I wonder how the NFC on the SIM card and the built-in NFC on the battery will interact with each other?

I was able to order an ISIS SIM for my Note II and the NFC payment process and the NFC transfer process both worked fine.

The NFC in the battery is just the antenna, where as the NFC in the sim has nothing to do with that.

Yeah, now I see that the NFC element on the SIM only contains data, such as for ISIS.
So if there is any difference in the SIM cards, the question for those of us activating on an alternate line, then swapping our main (unlimited data attached) SIM cards the question is:
After that process is finished, can we walk into Verizon and say "hey, can I get one of those new fancy SIM cards with NFC? "

Yes, you can do exactly that. I did that on my g'nex to try and use ISIS...never worked, but the sales rep had no issue upgrading the SIM. No charge and no threat to unlimited data.
Just to clarify, by the way: the SIM cards do not make a phone NFC-enabled by default. You can't suddenly start tapping if you plug an "NFC-Enabled" SIM into an older phone like a Droid Razr or equivalent. They simply provide another place for credit card info or other secure information to be stored, called a Secure Element. I'm fairly sure that ISIS is the only service that uses the SIM-based SE, as Google Wallet uses the SE that comes integrated in the battery on most other phones (yes, there's a little bit of flash memory in the battery). The reason for the use of the SIM card is because it's 100% carrier owned and controlled--if anyone recalls, that was the excuse used to keep Google Wallet off the play store: the carriers wanted access to the SE, but the SE was on the phone, which they didn't necessarily own. So now they get the SE in something that they *do* actually own, and nobody's any happier for it.

Verizon sends out a new SIM for all orders regardless of what kinda SIM you have in your current device. When you go online to activate (which is how i suggest you do it) you will use the new SIM.
Why would they offer then? ^

Should be the same process that you use for other Sprint phones. I believe you guys have to call Sprint and move your sim to activate. Read up on Nexus 6 activation. It should be the same.

The best and quickest way to do this would be to take the phone to the store once you get it, let them enter the imei, etc. into the system, and once it activates (and it will, since your sim will already be in the phone...), that will be that.

I don't know about this device specifically, but I'm on AT&T and I've swapped devices by simply switching the SIM. Never had an issue with this.
ATT as well and can agree just popping in a existing sim no activation needed. Bought a micro to nano cutter to be ready for when my MXP get here.
I just did a chat with sprint asked for a nano sim they asked what phone told them they said no problem so it looks like this wont be to bad

Yeah you'll need a compatible SIM and you'll still have to get in touch with sprint to have them activate it to your line. I know for a fact the SIM that the iPhone uses won't work, the only compatible SIM that is currently in use on other Sprint models that will also work with the X Pure is the SIM the HTC one M9 uses. Just go into a Sprint store when you get your X and they'll have one
Since the phone is just getting out there, it's not officially sold through Sprint (or Verizon), at this point, the trickle down info the online reps will have is going to vary, and different and confusing things can happen. The simplest way for CDMA customers to get going with this phone is to contact them, either by phone or in store, and activate whatever they need to on top of whatever you put into your phone from your existing one. Note: this phone uses a Nano, NOT a micro, sim card. This being the case, unless you want to buy a fitter, or feel comfortable cutting your sim card to fit, it would be best to just get a new one. GSM customers (like ATT & T-Mo) do not need to worry about any of this (aside from Band 12/wifi calling stuff, which is way more advanced than this thread, but I'll be looking into....QXDM, etc...), since the sim card being inserted for the first time will automatically download all of the pertinent information to get you going .
I ordered a Sim cutter so I can just use my G4 Sim. Verizon is notorious for not giving Sims for devices they don't sell.

Why wouldn't your iPhone sim work? I have a Verizon iPhone, and swap my sim with all kinds of android devices nearly every day. There has never been a problem. They use the exact same sim card. In fact, it is already a nano-sim as well so it would fit perfectly in the MXP.

Let me start by saying I'm a technician at a Sprint store, yes that works on Verizon and any GSM carrier but with Sprint the SIM card doesn't carry your mobile subscriber identity it just allows the phone access to our 4G LTE network. So yes the X pure takes a nano SIM, same size as the iPhone but we have many different SIM card SKUs for all our 4G phones and ones that work with some are not compatible to work with other phones. As I already said the only phone currently on the sprint network that uses the same nano SIM that will also work with the X pure is the HTC One m9 SIM but even if you aren't coming from the m9 you can just go into a sprint store and pick up the specific SIM we have tons of all SIMs in stock in the back for these specific reasons

You'll need to provide them the ESN, they'll activate it to your line and also activate the SIM to the phone at the same time and pop it in the phone, they should know what SIM to use it was already mentioned in our introduction material provided to us, if the rep seems like they have no idea just mention it's the same SIM the m9 uses

Good to know, I was wondering about this myself as I currently have the Nexus 6 on Sprint. When I do receive it, I'll just pop in at Sprint and get a SIM and let them do their thing. Appreciate it!
Edit: Would you by any chance know if Sprint will support VoLTE with the Pure? (In the select markets that it's available?)

Verizon is sending me this sim anyone knows if it's good sim to activate ? Atm I have note4 and micro Sim , yes I could cut it or go to some cell phone store to cut it but if I can have it free why bother.

So with my pure on the way I am starting to think about how I am going to deal with Verizon activating my phone. Currently I am on an OG Droid that as many of you know has no sim card at all, let alone a 4g sim. From what I can see I have two options:
1) Go into verizon with my new phone and say I want it activated and have them do whatever they do.
2) Order a sim from verizon for a new phone.
-- Now I understand that I can not order a sim without an IMEI number. Does this number need to be to a white listed phone and or the actual IMEI of the phone I will activate with or can I just give them any old valid IMEI number?-- If I need to give them a valid IMEI number for a Verizon phone can I just submit my sisters IMEI number? Also if I was to use my sisters phone to activate the sim would it mess anything up on her phone?
So which option do you think is best and if option 2 please address the additional questions related to it.

Tell them you are getting a Nexus 6 or any other phone in their system that uses a nano sim. Tell them it will be a few weeks. I have heard that they will activate a nano sim for you. Pop it in your Pure and you should be good to go. I am lucky enough to have a nano sim in my Turbo I plan on using in my Pure.

Using another devices imei will work. May be a VZW capable device that also takes a nanosim. This is how I got my device activated.
for reference my sister has a turbo which I believe takes a nano
I just took in a different phone without the sim card, which I used for my moto X . They gave me a new sim for the original phone, then I called *611 to activate it. Worked well but the representative keep saying it is a non VZW device and Verizon only allows approved phones on its network. She was nice just sounded confused by this and only mentioned after it was activated.

For now I just took the sim out of my Nexus 6 and popped it in the pure, my main issue with that is now i want to sell my Nexus 6 and i think im not going to be able too
This whole thing is a cluster F, mainly cause Verizon sucks at change and allowing stuff in there network. Im sure they are not the only carrier thats a pain but by far the worse. I would assume this why we don't see every phone come out like this one at least yet

take current sim out of old active phone
carefully position the nano sim in the slot of old phone. I used a note 4 that takes a micro sim but i was able to position the nano sim correctly in the slot for it to work
reboot phone and cal *611 to activate new sim in old phone
once new sim is active, put it in moto x
you can sell old phone without any issues. account is tied to sim not phone

So my IMEI from my N6 is not tied to the sim card and once its out and in another phone the N6 is able to be sold or activated as another line and not effect my moto x pure

correct. The SIM will update the new IMEI number to your account, hence why the device shows as unknown in my verizon. If the old IMEI was tied to the card, you would see a nexus 6 as your device when your Moto x was active, which is not the case.
According to Droid Life's follow up with Verizon they plan on having all the kinks worked out by Friday.

I went in to a non-retail store, but an authorized retailer and got a SIM card from them...I got home and called the *611 number and activated it, they didn't even ask the type of phone...

I was an existing customer...I just went in to the store and said I needed a new SIM cause I got a new phone with nano SIM and I was currently using a micro; he looked up my name and number to verify the account and I took the card and left...The non retail stores used to charge, but I guess they don't anymore...I may have gotten lucky and the employee was an idiot, I dunno...Went home, called *611, told them I needed to activate the new card and she activated it under my number and I turned it off and then back on and it was good to go! I did call from the new phone too...
