man, those international gn2 guys have done some awesome work. i can't wait for this mod to come to US gn2 and hopefully to the gn10.1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1961314
to sum it up, it removes the limit on what apps can be used in multiview. any app can be added!
That would be amazing
Been using it for a few days....would be awesome for the tablet
It would be nice to have all apps available under multiwindow on the Note 10.1 - I actually bought it under the impression it was. It seems 'unfinished' as is...
Trev
The old note one got updates by Samsung having multi window feature so l think we will get it for sure

I like where this is headed :good:
WOW, that would be INCREDIBLE.
That's awesome. I've been holding off on rooting and custom roms, but I would do it for that feature.
Ok, so this allows any app to be in mulit-window, but what does the flashbar mod do? Is that to do with their quick access app bar; like let you add any app to it?
We need some Note 2 devs

Yeah that's what it does
My note 10.1 would be complete if I was able to run a game in one window and what's app in the other.
Make it happen Samsung. Please
Is there any gnote 10.1 dev willing to try this and get in contact with the dev who did this for the gnote2 and start working together on bringing this to the gnote10

Because of the additional screen real estate and by offering both a cascade and dual view option, Samsung's method of implementing multiview on the Note 10.1 is different than the smaller Note's. Non-supported apps can be made to work but it's going to take a huge amount of effort and have to be approached on an app-by-app basis.
Tha apps have to have defined the min/default width+height in dimension.xml and additional edit of AndroidManifest is needed - FOR EVERY SINGLE APP
Stock apps ported from N8000 i was able to run on my N7000....
Example:
Stock Snote on N7000 is prety much the same app - but check Androidmanifest.xml and check LAYOUT/DIMENSIONS.xml !!!!
I can run the N7000s stock flashbar side by side to N8000s multiview and - stock N7000 Snote app is in the flashbar, but not in the miniapptray, as soon as i install N8000 Snote - it appear in Miniapp tray- so i checked every app that runs by me from GTN8000 - and yes, we have to mod every single app.

In the forum over at hardwarezone.com.sg they have shown a couple of screens but also talk of problems in how to carry out a screen grab.
I thought Touchwiz could do this using the hardware buttons.
I have a note (got it from somewhere) that says:-
"While using the device, you can capture an image of a screen. While pressing and holding Back, press the Home key. The image will be saved in Gallery."
Thoughts please.
what i would like to know also is the screenshots i seen of the galaxy s and other youtube videos saying it has touchwiz 3.0
but looking at this samsung video the touchwiz 3.0 is different. or maybe it has to do with the wave ...
Id much prefer this interface ...

That's running the Bada OS which is found on the Wave
it's faster than Android and I would have bought the Wave if the 3g bands worked in the Americas but it doesn't offer support for 1900mhz yet, and the number of applications do not match that of Android (I need applications that are not found on Bada yet, can't assume they will also), aaaand since we can't put shortcuts to applications on the homepage :'( like on Android.
Touchwiz is the UI on it and on Android too, it is a bit different for the Wave since it's running Samsung's new OS, Bada OS. I prefer the TouchWiz 3 on the Android since we can use hardware buttons to go back or to open the menu instead of them being on the screen which take up space.
But they are very very similar since it's the nearly the same UI.
Just like this...

i agree there, but i think stock ICS may come a little later.
one of the main reasons why im waiting for the samsung official version is because it comes with kernel 3.x (according to the leaks) whereas most of these modded versions are still using kernel 2.6.57.

debating whether it's a good idea to flash CM9 or not for the gnote, even when it's in beta or stable build.
A lot of cool features in the note are build on touchwiz interface, and with CM9 i am not sure how good the support for the s-pen will be. But again... what's fun with an android if you cant flash the crap out of it

Hello,
Just wanted to say my impression on Lidroid ICS ROM. I have been using almost all LPB based Roms lately. The only one that stayed longer was MODGalaxy, which is a clean stock Samsung LPB Rom.
Having read about Lidroid dev here and his mods, I read that he issues his Rom based on ICS too in his forum. So I gave it a try. Apart of some apps in Chinese language, a nice keyboard but unfortunately for Chinese language, I am really impressed for its smoothness. The rom has 14 icon mod, percentage battery, Lockapp, Root Explorer and other goodness by default.
I have removed some of the local apps with Root Explorer and inserted an ICS keyboard. Now everything runs good for me.
I am trying today and just wanted to say to brave hearts to give it a try too. You will be impressed I think or hope...

Another first impressions thread... Maybe someone should start a second impressions thread?
Come on guys. I just wanted to let you know about a Rom that is not available in this forum. This post was not about my impressions but mostly about knowing and trying a Rom outside of XDA.
Or maybe I could say my last impressions about this thread before it gets closed?
I've just installed the ics ROM from Craver UK site. They have a link to download the very latest ROM from the nexus phones. I was expecting the black and blue theme that I've using in CM9. Can anyone help or is this correct?
Not sure what you're expecting here. Samsung does not follow the stock ICS mentality, they will always add Touchwiz on top of Android. If it looks IDENTICAL to Gingerbread, then you didn't flash the right ROM... There are SOME differences between Samsung ICS and Samsung Gingerbread.
and also, this could have easily been posted in one of the multiple pre-existing threads for ICS.
+ any Samsung ICS roms in the wild are only leaked beta test roms .
jje
The black and blue theme is unique to CM roms, it's not a standard on pure ICS or Samsung ICS Most of the look and feel of the Samsung ICS roms are the same as gingerbread
However if you look at the settings it's clearly different from gingerbread roms
Thanks for your comments, I've decided to use Resurrection Remix one instead and its defiantly allot better more stable.
Thanks again.
Should of stuck with cm9, all samsung roms will look like the current gingerbread ones.
lol... i bought a samsung galaxy s2, but it still looks like samsung galaxy s2... y doesnt it look like galaxy nexus?
If all you care about is the looks, then just simply change your theme and call it a day.
ICS is different to GB. Is it better ? Well that remains to be seen.

Thats a Google requirement for ICS. It's theme i.e color schemes etc nothing much to do with UI/Menus. Samsung can tweak UI all they want as long as they also bundle the Halo theme along with theirs.
It's been done so apps look same across devices. You won't be able to change some setting and get AOSP look.

Further info:
As an app developer you can choose between "DeviceDefault"-Theme and "Holo"-Theme. So it is up to the developers...BUT the app needs to be for 4.0 if it is for 2.3 the Holo settings meight confuse you phone, this means that the most developers will NEED to use the "DeviceDefault" cause that is what Gingerbread can also handle.
Samsung's Gingerbread didn't look at all like Google's Gingerbread, so I don't understand why people expect ICS to be any different...

Anyone here up for the challenge?
It's been a while since I last ported a rom, and since the SGN is the first Samsung phone I've messed with, I have no idea where to start. Besides, I don't think I could do it alone to be honest.
I'm sure more people want this to happen.
SGN is our abbreviation - "Note" is just one more letter, how about using that?

RocketRom v2 with my SGS3 theme is better. I actually include all graphics except dialer (which I'm working on mind you) Excuse the red lines, was using this image to ask Kalagas something.
Anyways, I wish there were guides on making roms on different phones. I'm not used to the structure of the notes roms at all. Maybe I should start with CM9 source. I've only ever done HTC(dhd) and Asus (tf101).
