Droid razr hd jelly bean leak - RAZR HD General

Hey guys.i am not from this section but got a great news for you all that there is a jelly bean leak for your device.
Go here for more info:
link 1
link 2
And sorry in this topic is already created.

Thanks for the info and update. I think I'm going to wait for the official OTA to come out. Don't feel like taking chances just yet with my brand new toy.

Installed it to both of our stock, non-rooted and locked Razr HD's and both run great!

I read that you lose root and can't re-root after loading it because current method doesn't work with Jellybean. Is it true?

Not sure, as I have not found a compelling reason to root this phone yet. But I would imagine that it could break root. What do you use root for?

Just installed it. Root still works just have to update superuser after the installation. I used root to install the stock gallery apk. Unfortunately now with jellybean replacing motgallery2.apk with stock gallery apk results in gallery force closing. So we're back again not being able to view Picasa / google+ photos in the gallery app. Very annoying. Hopefully someone will come up with a workaround. I'll make a separate thread about it.
Sent from my MAXX HD.

I'm fairly new to this whole ROMing thing, but what does installing this ROM do to the ability to install the OTA 4.1 or future OTAs? Will I be able to (or have to) revert back to 4.0?

Huh.I did the same thing and have 2 galleries still with no force closing. I suggest uninstalling from system folder rebooting and reinstalling.

I didn't think of doing that. I was trying to replace MotGallery2.apk with googlegallery.apk then renaming it. Now I just dropped in the googlegallery.apk in system/app floder, rebooted the phone and disabled the stock motorola gallery app. Thank you.

you won't be able to take the OTA with this leak. You will have to use the utility tool and revert back to stock, then can take the ota

Thanks for the info. Of course with my n00b status in all of this, I have more questions. I apologize for my "stupidity" and thank all in advance for their help!
- Utility tool? Is this found within the jelly bean leak, or an app from the market?
- Do I need to be rooted to be able to go back to stock?
- By reverting, is it similar to factory resetting, where I would lose pics, apps, etc.?

the utility tool is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33618054
- no, you don't have to be rooted to go back tos tock
- you'll lose pretty much everything on the internal storage, so I'd make sure anything you want to save you have backed up on ur sdcard

Thanks so much! One more question (hopefully)... How would reverting affect the downloaded VeeZeeDub security update that just came out (0.2.7)? Would I have to / be able to download it again?

Since you seem to have answers silly, what's the best way to back up your internal storage?

Once you put in the sd card, the system will ask you if you want to move your files over. Also go to camera app and in options chose top store pictures and videos on sd card.

Already been reported a few times now, very easy to revert back to stock ICS to take the official OTA when it comes out.

We Need to Port the Desire ROM (once rooted)

I hope that once we have this rooted, we will be able to flash the Desire ROM. I'm sick at my stomach knowing that we are missing the wonderful News (RSS) widget and even a few others.
The desire is not a CDMA phone.
Make more sense to just port the app you want and much more realistic.
sure. if someone can port a widget.
Could you modify the ROM to work with the Qualcomm CDMA processor?
If you root it you won't be able to get the FROYO 2.2 upgrade. Can't be installed on rooted phones.

If we had root, and if we could write to /system/, then we could push the widget to the phone and be done with it. It should not require a whole ROM port to accomplish. We already have the file (com.htc.NewsReaderWidget.apk), however we cannot install/push it to the phone.

A rooted phone might be locked out from an *official* update to 2.2, but the community would have that sorted out in a matter of hours once there was an official update to build off of. Anyways, until we do get root, that discussion is pretty much moot.
Thank you! Can't wait.

If there's an apk floating around, why couldn't it just be installed?
Also, rooted phones can run 2.2, I have no idea where you're getting that from.

Because you cannot install some .apk without permission to write to /system/app/ which we do not have. Want to try? It's attached. You will get "Application not installed" and if you try to adb push it, well, where are you going to put it? You cannot write to /system/app/ and you cannot write to /data/app/, so if you know another way...

Of course they can run it. First of all, it was another poster who said they could not -- and they didn't even really say they couldn't 'run' it, just said unambiguously that they couldn't install it -- which in hindsight was probably referring to the same manual update engadget discusses, linked below. Second, my suggestion that the upgrade *might* not be *officially* supported on a rooted phone was just a logical possibility in my mind when I said it, but may have actually turned out to be the case:

[Q] ? remove 2.26.60 installation file

After 3 failed attempts to install 2.26.60 on my rooted Droid Pro, and considering the various problems others are having after having successfully installed it, I no longer wish to do so. But, the installation dialog automatically reappears every 12 hours with options to install now or install later. I'd like to delete the installation file, but have not been able to find it with Root Explorer. Has anyone been able to delete it and/or know the path to the file? Thanks, JM
Same thing here, it is very annoying, specially when I have already tried several times without success...
Do you guys think that those who were unable to update their phones will never make it? Maybe Motorola/Verizon will clear the restriction for the next update?
Are you trying to remove the installation file so you dont have to update to 2.26.60 or are you trying to remove the already updated phone's install file?

I have not updated and do not wish to. The installation file produces a nag prompt to either install now, or 12 hours later. There is no option to never install, nor to delete the prompt (such as "do not show again"). I don't care if the update file remains on the machine, I just want to stop the nagging, and I do not intend to update to anything until a major version change (2.3, 2.4, etc) comes along.
Thanks, JMM
If oyu have the bugless beast rom running on your phone peter alfonso has a stopota.zip but with a basic android software, i really dont think you can. im going to check it out for ya, hopefilly ill have an answer in a couple of hours!
Alrighty this is what I found. The file that nags you about the OTA updates is a software file that also runs many more manditory components. So without a custom ROM on your android, (currently the only custom rom is Droid Pro FISSION, with a Beta RC1), is is impossible to avoid the OTA update notification. Sorry bro, thats android for you!

After pondering this a bit, I wonder if you would be willing to try to get a couple more answers for me -
1) what is the file - name and pathway?
2) what are the "mandatory" components it also runs?
3) In Titanium Backup Pro apps/files list there is "Updater 2.2". What would happen if I froze that with Titanium Pro?
If you can come up with answers great, if not many thanks anyway - JM

Two reasons - 1) I do not want the update, it has caused problems for others that I don't need, and, 2) I cannot flash the sbf because I only have access to PowerPC Macintosh. No windows real or virtual. I've tried to find out if a sbf flash can be done by Mac unix(Darwin) command line from Terminal with bash shell, but no one has responded. Consequently I don't want to update and find out there's a problem because I can't revert. JM

[Q] z4 Rooted Droid X to Gingerbread

I have a Droid X that I have rooted using z4 Root. Will I have any problems if I un-root and then download and install Gingerbread? I realize that z4 Root can't root Gingerbread yet, but I was wondering if I could just un-root and then install the update and just wait to re-root it when z4 Root can do it? It seems like people are having issues with the X even though they un-root before they update. Why is this? Thank you all for your time. I appreciate it.
People usually have problems updating because they have deleted or frozen bloat in their system folder.
If you unroot, and replace any bloat you may have removed, you should be able to update without a hitch.
After you download the OTA Gingerbread you won't be able to gain root again. The only option is two flash a two part prerooted install of .596 Gingerbread provided by Team Black Hat.

Thank you much. I shouldn't have any problem then because I haven't frozen or deleted anything. Is the z4 Root developer going to try to make a version of z4 Root that will root Gingerbread?

Over The Air.
I unrooted with z4 Root and did a wipe and a restore to factory reset. I tried to update to GingerBread 4 times but all four times it failed. Somehow, even in the return to factory wipe, ClockworkMod Recovery stays on the Droid X. Why? I think it is the ClockworkMod Recovery that is preventing me being able to update to GingerBread. Do you think that might be the cause? In other words, resetting it to factory condition doesn't really reset to factory condition. How do I fix this? Should I just stay rooted with z4 Root and wait for a way to update to GingerBread from you guys? I'm just not sure what to do. Thanks for your time. I'm running Android Version 2.2.1 with a System Version of 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US.

i thought you wanted to update to gb? why would you want to stop it?
why dont you just update to the pre-rooted gingerbread. see here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-5-596-release-thread-something-everyone.html
I want to stop it because I have tried to install it 4 times and it has failed to install on all four attempts. It won't install so I don't want to waste the time and the data.
The link is not working for me either
Follow the instructions below to return to froyo or upgrade to gb rooted or not.
Check out these links.
Link 1 makes a linux CD that you can use to SBF back to Froyo in about 10 minutes. This is a very easy method to get back to froyo. If you can burn an iso file to a CD then you can do this method.
http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html
Then you can use z4root and install pre-rooted GB using the 2 flash method at link 2. Make sure that you use Droid 2 bootstrapper and not Droid X bootstrapper to install the rooted GB.
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/05/28/download-official-droidx-gingerbread-4-5-596-for-rooted-users/
Follow the instructions closely for ensured success.
This can all be done in about 30 to 45 minutes depending on your computer skills.

No , you can mod build.prop and you can install the apk but you won't get it to work. It is even present in the framework but again, no it won't work.
That needs to be done in the building process of the rom. One more reason to go custom
Ask MD , it is even a pain to get it working on custom rom. It all got to do with signing the correct apk's before you build the rom.
So don't waist your time or mess up your system it is not going to happen.

Hi everyone!! Im new to this forum so bare with with me. I recently bought an acer iconia A500 4.0.3 ics (leak). I rooted it with blackthunde, but then I dident like the root sooo I found a utube video that said " unroot all android devices universal", i did what they said, which was" to remove the su files and the remove superuser and then boot" however; superuser did not remove from my devic. I used the root checker to c if it worked and i guess it did because now it saids "not rooted" sooo my question is: how do i get my tablet back to the state when I first bought it? or can i remove the superuser manually? but instead of it saying uninstall it saids "remove all updates". i dont know what to do, please can someone explain how to get it to brandnew and leave no trace of root..... thank you...
First this should be a question by itself.
But I will try and help you out bud.
To get to stock you must find a ROM that is stock then flash it.
If you want absolute stock that is beyond me as I've never looked into it in ics
What ROM are you on now? if you are just rooted just factory data reset and you should be happy where it is at.
If you are trying to sell it let me know!. as any another reason to go to stock I don't know why you would..
I don't understand your post really..

Well, probably because superuser apk was placed in the /system/app folder and you don't have /system rw permissions anymore.. Can't remove it unless you're rooted with /system RW access.
If you want it really back to stock condition, grab one of the update ICS files from the Dev section, decrypt it, pull the update.zip from it. Copy the update.zip to your ext SD, and boot holding Vol+ and PWR. Should install the update.
Note there are 2 update ICS files, so of one doesn't work, try the other. This will put a stock ICS back on your tab.
If it goes well that is

[Q] update failed

i have returned my phone to stock using house of moto, it is rooted, and xposed. any ideas why it failed after d/l and reboot?
do i remove root and xposed and modules? also lucky patcher.
OTA's are SUPER sensitive. You have to be running the phone at STOCK so it doesn't fail, literally everything has to be how it was when you got your phone. Thats why a lot of people are RSD'ing back to stock and then installing KK. That way you know it wont fail.
In your case, yes: remove root with OTA keeper (which sometimes doesnt work) and get rid of Xposed.
You will have to be running a completely stock ROM. To get mine to OTA, I used the 90.30.1 update from droid-developers(dot)org and House of Moto to flash. OTA went smoothly after that.

SafeRoot modifies the kernel slightly and even a full unroot will not resolve the kernel change. You must flash to 90.30.1 via House of Moto. You can do that on a locked BL, I did it yesterday to mine. You can flash to the same ROM or NEWER on a locked BL, but you cannot flash to an OLDER ROM.
I used SafeRoot on my phone, and was in the same scenario as you.

I believe that you are able to flash back to the version you are currently on. So, if you were on 90.30.1 rooted/modified, you could RSD/FB back to 90.30.1 stock. You, however, cannot flash back to a version older than 90.30.1.

I can't seem to locate a thread/post on doing this. Could you point me in the right direction?
EDIT: I eventually found this. If anyone would like the prepared House of Moto folder (and assuming it doesn't violate any licenses; I'd better check), I'll zip it up and paste a Dropbox link.

Where would i be able to download the 98.18.94 firmware for the razr m so i can RSD back to it? I uninstalled a lot of the verizon bloatware so the update fails. I've looked everywhere and i can't seem to find it. Suggestions?
