Lost "paste" feature after 4.1.1 upgrade - Galaxy S III General

Hi,
Has anyone ever noticed that a "paste" function stopped working after 4.1.1 update ?
I can copy a block of text into a clipboard, but I can't paste it.

No such issue. Have you flashed with Custom ROM? Is your phone rooted? Provide more info here in order for forum members to help you.

Sorry, forgot to provide all the details.
I was on a stock 4.0.4 (unbranded netherlands), then flashed 4.1.1 that was released on 31/10 via Odin. Also I did wipe cache via android recovery.
The phone is non-rooted.
In 4.0.4 I had the common problem with not working "copy". Every time I tried to copy something into the clipboard the app just crashed.
Now I can copy, but can't paste.
For example, I open a webpage in Chrome browser and copy a street name. Then go to Maps app and pressing on a search box waiting for "paste" menu to pop up. But nothing happens.

Emmm, long press?

I had the same problem when I flashed the Polish JB stock ROM a few weeks back. Now running AOKP and haven't had the problem come up again, that solved it for me at least .

I had the same issue once.. i don't remember how I solved it, but there is an easier solution somewhere here than I had done it..
Try searching for "clipboard" on here. Surely you will find something. As I recall it was something to do with the clipboard folder in the system files.

Hi.
Same case, JB 4.1.1 cant paste.
I tried many things (wipe cache/dalvik reinstall same room) but finally i solved with this:
You can try to delete all files and folders inside /data/clipboard, obviously you need any filexplorer with root access like "ES File Explore, root explorer etc...., and aply root RW permissions
Don't delete "clipboard" folder, only their content.
Reboot after.

Using EVO keyboard with arrows on NON-EVO builds

Im sorry if this is the wrong section for this, I figured this would be the best spot.
The reason im posting this is because a lot of people were asking how to use the EVO keyboard (with arrows) on NON-Evo sense builds. First off, as far as I have tried, the build does have to be a sense build. I have tested this on just about every sense build for the HD2.
I've attached the renamed apk that ive been using. Hopefully it will work since I sent it straight from my phone. If you use it, skip #1.
1.) Rename the HTC_IME.apk to newHTC_IME.apk
2.)Go into the folder where the newHTC_IME.apk is (if you download it from your phone then it will be in the "download" folder) and using "Root Explorer" or another root file explorer long press the apk and select copy.
3.)Go to your system>>app folder and paste the newHTC_IME.apk. Since its not the same name as the original it will not ask you if you want to over ride the original. But it will still be there if you choose you do not want the EVO keyboard later on.
4.) You WILL have to reboot for the changes to take affect, if you do not you will not have a keyboard till you do reboot.
I hope I didnt make this complicated lol, and yes i know....some of you know how to do this. I did it for the ones who did not.
Works perfectly with desire sense mdeejay build. Thanks.

the method you're doing won't work.. follow the OP's instruction on how to do it, or install droid explorer and then copy/paste the newHTC_IME.apk file to system/app folder.
BE VERY WARY ABOUT THIS!!!
I'm going to have to start from scratch as doing this has lost my keyboard, permanently.
I keep getting a "Sorry" message saying that "The application Touch Input has stopped unexpectedly" and my keyboard is unavailable.
This is after installing this new keyboard, as well as after restoring the original one. It's basically just screwed my keyboard so I'm going to have to rebuild my instance of Android from scratch.

My friends, i'm not able to write the file newHTC_IME.apk into /system/app/.
I've installed "Root Explorer" and I also cannot, it tells me that there's no space to copy the file... even i use mount r/w
i'v also tried to access superuser but i dont know how it works... superuser2.3.6 app screen shows me there's no apps, log shows me there's no log, and i don't know how can i give root privilegies to "root explorer"
thnx!
SOLVED: I was able doing the same, deleting HTC_IME.pak and copying newHTC_IME.pak. Thnx!!!
Hi motoman234,

[Q] google calendar HELP

Hi,
I have deleted calendar application (accidentally) from my phone. Titanium backup also not showing the backed up calendar so i can't restore it.
I tried installing the calendar.apk (extracted from the rom package) it forced stop with error.
I want my calendar back. Is there any way. I am using cm 7.1 rom 2.3.4.
Please Help
Thanks
can you explain how u delete that?because it is very necessary to solve ur problem.
I believe that if you flash a relevant gApps .zip file you should be able to get it?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk
Did you try pushing the Calender.apk and CalenderProvider.apk to /system/app/ using adb or root explorer. Then changing the file permissions to rw-r-r. Maybe it works. (If it force closes again, clear the application data from /settings/applications/manage applications/all/ and restart. )

Nexus 4 Stock Camera

I need help restoring my camera to its original state. I applied the camera mod to increase bitrate but it FC's my camera. So I flashed the "stock" settings again and I still have the problem. Any way to just flash a completely stock camera apk? I'm on CM10.1 if that matters.

No need to flash it. Use a root file explorer to copy the stock camera.apk to /system/apps and change permissions to rw-r--r--.

Thats not correct for his issue. The mod modifies the media profiles and not the camera apk so replacing the camera apk won't help a single thing.
You need to replace your media profile with the stock one you had before you flashed the camera enhancement files. Or flash a new ROM.

If you dirty flash the next nightly it should over write the modification and put back in the original media profile.
If it doesn't then you will have to perform a clean install and wipe first. But I am almost 100% positive the mod will be over written with a dirty flash and you will be back to normal.

Thank you very much Monk. I'll try and report back after.

Dirty flashing worked and my camera's back to normal. I don't think it's worth double the data size for what everybody is saying is a placebo mod.

I am cameraless!
I received my phone yesterday and started playing with it. While deleting a couple of the google apps (via TBP) I think I accidentally deleted that of the camera (which I can only guess would have been the Gallery apk?)
I have downloaded necessary files and all I need to do is change permissions but I don't have the option
Can someone help shed some light?

No option to change permissions
Use a better file manager, Solid Explorer for example. Make sure you enable root access
OK so, downloaded solid explorer, changed permission on both apk and odex to rw-r-r and the three .so files and nothing. App does not show up on my list
EDIT: Now both Gallery and Camera are showing BUT when I tap on them it tells me "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped."

Didn't help, I keep getting the same message... I had a couple of frozen items on TBP and defrosted to see if that would solve the issue but nop.... Something that seems so easy has taken me all day to fix :crying:
EDIT: maybe this piece of info helps someone know what is happening; when i uninstall or modify any app it gives me that same error "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped."
Followed instructions of installing the 4.2Camera zip as well as the toolkit zip via recovery with no avail.
Deleted the apps, added them. No luck
Copy pasted the lib (.so) files and changed permissions (replaced existing). No luck
Rebooted a million times. Did a data, cache and dalvic cleanup and No luck
I had installed instragram and then deleted it. I also installed Quickpic (doubt any of these have anything to do with the problem though).
EDIT 2: Problem SOLVED!!! I updated gapps with this file which seems to be the latest version and voila! Camera is back to proper working order!

[Q] Manually installing system app, reboot, no .odex

I recently rooted my stock AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 (MF3) and have been implementing a few improvements that I've found on this thread but have run into a strange error twice already when trying to replace an existing system app with a modded version.
With other phones in the past I simply paste an app into system/app and set RW-R-R permissions, then reboot the phone. During the next boot it usually says "android is upgrading 1 of 1" and creates a matching .odex file in the /system/app folder and everything works perfect.
So far I've tried to replace the SecPhone.apk with a version that allows call recording, and the TetheringProvision.apk with one that will let me tether on my AT&T phone. In both instances I reboot, but it never says "upgrading", nor is an .odex file created, and then the app fails to work. With the TetheringProvision.apk I also kept getting a "failed to change permissions" error in ES File Explorer, so I retried with Root Explorer, and SMangager but none of them could change the permission on the apk once it was in the system/app folder (yes /system was mounted R/W). I'm not sure if this is related to the above problem or not.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? I have frozen most of the Samsung bloatware apps and while I've been careful, I suppose I could have accidentally frozen something important, but everything other than these replacement system apps seems to be working perfectly. I thought android automatically checked for new apps on every boot, but apparently not on my phone.
Is there any way to force an app check on boot? Thanks for the help.
So I guess no one else has had a similar issue...

For an Odexed system, an Odex file is required to be installed along with the original file. So if a mod is created for an "Odexed" system, it will have a .odex file accompanying it that must be installed also. Installing a deodexed file into an odexed system doesn't work unless the deodexed file is split down into its 2 parts again (original file, plus .odex file)..
This was very helpful. Is there a guide you could recommend to me on how to make an odex file from the modded apk that I have so that I can get these programs working on my S4?

now where the heck do i find the 'replacement'? There is no bluetooth app in the market. sorry for not knowing exactly what to do
The system/app contains the bluetooth app, take a look
And if you are running 4.4.2 I can upload the apps for you

thanks, ive never sideloaded an app before so if you wouldnt mind....
do i download on computer? and then after I extract I take the APK and push it through? I can lookup this process but just wondering if this is the route i'm supposed to be going next
Download "ES File Explorer" then click on option button
Then scroll down and turn on Root Explorer
Then click on root explorer and choose Mount Option and change the /system to rw
Then download the apps & extract them
You can extract them on pc, then copy the apps to SD Card

really thankful for your help
i did get those exact files into my sys/app folder
restarted the device and bluetooth still wont work...really frustrating. hard to believe the only way to fix this might be to get a completely different custom ROM and resetup my entire device, which will take hours and i'm sure it's just a matter of time before I have some other problem.
Any suggestions welcome
Sorry I forgot the most important thing
Keep pressing on any app in the /System/app
And click properties
And look to the permission of the app
then keep pressing on the Bluetooth app and click properties and click change the permission of the bluetooth app to Permissions like the previous app
Reboot
