Cyanogenmod 7 Installation

Can someone please explain to me how to flash cm7 on my D2? I put it back on the stock rom and tried flashing it, didn't work. How to I put back the stock kernel?
what do you mean, put it back on stock rom?
what version of cm7?
where did you get it? link please
what system version is on phone?
are you rooted?
you may need to be on froyo 2.2, depends on what version you are flashing
should be like this
Download the latest version of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Download the Google Apps for the device.
Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card.
Optional: Place the Google Apps .zip on the root of the SD card also.
Boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery.
Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the side volume buttons to move around, and either the power button or the trackball to select.
Optional: Select backup and restore to create a backup of current installation on the Motorola Droid 2.
Select the option to Wipe data/factory reset.
Then select the option to Wipe cache partition.
Select Install zip from sdcard.
Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Select the CyanogenMod update.zip.
Optional: Install the Google Apps by performing steps 7 - 9 again and choosing the Google Apps update.zip.
Once the installation has finished, select +++++Go Back+++++ to get back to the main menu, and select the Reboot system now option. The Motorola Droid 2 should now boot into CyanogenMod.

Yes i am rooted
I was on the latest OTA .621 (2.3.4)
I first flashed MIUI then I wanted to flash CM 7.2.0 but it told me to check my kernel.
I downloaded it directly from download.cyanogenmod.com
I am currently on MIUI V4 2.7.6
because of the locked bootloader, you still are on .621, or at least the kernel
I think cm 7 is based on the D2 froyo 2.2 kernel, so you have no way to flash it sucessfully
try a different rom

[Q] [SOLVED] Multiboot - MIUI Pikachu base ROM w/ Jelly Bean Quarx virtual

Hello fellow uers,
I'm using TweetyPeety's ROM "PIKACHU EDITION 2.4.20b" and for the first time I'm trying multiboot (I just got an microSD 32gb class 10 card!). I've succesfully installed "touchbootmenuV2.0beta_multibootV0.7-20120618-signed.zip" from the Multiboot thread. I've also downloaded the fsimages and placed in the sd card under "/sdcard/multiboot/jb". I'm trying to install Quarx's CM10 ROM. I'm using a MB525 Red Lens Defy.
Then I do as follows:
1) Get into recovery (now w/touch interface)
2) Go into multiboot
3) Select Recovery
4) Select the JB virtual system and get into recovery
5) Install zip
At this point the progess bar hangs up at about 75-80% of the process and nothing happens no matter how much I wait. The only thing I can do at this point is remove the battery.
So my question is...what am I doing wrong here? Perhaps I'm using the wrong base ROM?
Thank you very much in advance!
EDIT:
Managed to flash CM10 now. As I was using GB kernel (MIUI Pikachu) I needed to flash the Defy+ version.
Now I'm unable to boot into CM10...Boot configured to 2nd-boot and Multiboot to boot CM10. On every reboot it goes to nand rom. Any ideas?
Thanks!
EDIT 2:
Solved! Had to choose 2nd-system as Boot.

[Q] Last version of CM10.1 for defy (mb525)

Hello,
I own a defy mb525 with CM7.2.0. I am not so happy with this version (bad 3g access; battery life very short)
So I decided to install the CM10.1.
On the develloper page I saw that the status has been updated on the 26.03. But if I look for my model (mb525), I can find only a version dated on the 120904.
Is there a newer version for the mb525 or is it only for the mb520 and mb526 ?
Regards

It should work for both. Same as latest builds of CM10.

2ndboot builds: they are one build for both mb525 &5 26 .... so you can download the 26.03 nightly build and update on your MB525 :good:

Yes, there is CM10 from Quarx. Your device can be either mb525 or mb526 with red lens or green lens. CM10.1 from the same person also can.

First of all, none of you guys ever read the stickies. It is packed with good info.
Our phone has a locked bootloader, it is almost impossible to brick.
Download latest CM10 and then install.
Ive come across a newbi problem im on the link of the latest cm10 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702) and the file I try to flash wont install it gets aborted, I searched the forms for other cm10 and same issue file gets aborted.
If possible to be directed to the file I need to flash to cm10
not easy being newbi these days :crying:

out of curiousity, i restored my mb525 back to cm7 nightly 20111201 nandroid, which has cwm v5.0.3.2. i did not check the bootmenu version but it should be the same as yours. then, after formatting system/cache partitions, i flashed cm-10-20130918-nightly-mb526.zip, and it worked.
so i don't really know what's wrong with your phone, but i have a couple of suggestions for you to try. not that there's any logical explanations but try it anyway:
1. according to the error messages, you have the cm10 rom in the root folder of the sdcard. try creating a sub-folder called cm10 and copy the cm10 rom and the minimal gapps into it.
2. download the defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and defy_fullwipe_ext3.zip ( for later use, when you want to revert back your rom) from here and put them in cm10 folder as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
3. reboot into recovery but don't do any format or wipe. instead flash the file defy_fullwipe_ext4.zip and this will format your partitions into the ext4 file system.
4. then flash the cm10 rom. if it installs sucessfully, then without any further wiping, nor flashing the minimal gapps, reboot the phone. (note that the os will reboot once more in the middle of booting up, seemingly having a bootloop problem. don't worry it's meant to do that, unless it rebooted more than once)
5. if it boots up sucessfully, do some basic set up first before rebooting back into recovery to flash the minimal gapps.
alternatively you could try flashing cm9.1 (ext3) to get a newer bootmenu and cwm versions before flashing cm10. no need to flash any gapps, just wipe system/cache partitions and flash the cm9.1 rom by itself. reboot into cm9.1, do basic set up. once it's ready reboot into recovery and do the above steps, starting from step 3, to flash cm10.
good luck.....
edit: did you get your cm10 rom from here:

I did try using that link but the files still would abort when flashing, also tried http://d-h.st/users/Quarx files it did the same thing
I followed your instruction but decided to goto cm 9 first I flashed the (ext3) file it installed and cm9.1 installed also installed twrp with no issues but when I was going through cm9 and its functions I couldent go on line a popup message (Unfortunately, brower has stopped) also I wasn't able to log on google play a pop up message (Unfortunately, com. google android.gb has stopped). so I got fed up and decided to goto cm10.1 so I first flashed with ext4.zip it installed and then tried to flash 10.1 file once again the file wouldn't install it gave me aborted file message again. I had no choice to reboot and I had to reinstall the factory file(brick). I am now back to where I started :silly: cm7 2.3.7 its been a hell of a weekend ........... ill give it another shot soon :fingers-crossed:

Cant OTS Update to 4.41

I have have a nexus 5 running Paranoid Android 4.4 with franco kernal and CWM recovery. Every time I try to use Paranoid OTA to update to 4.41 I get to the CWM recovery and am presented with this:
+Verifying SD card marker.....
+SD card marker not found........
+Error processing ROM manager script. Please verify that you are performing the backup, restore, or ROM installation from ROM Manager v.4.0.0 or higher
+/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sd card/clockworkmod/recovery.log. Please open ROM Manager to report the issue.
What the heck is ROM manager.
I also looked around and saw that re rooting my device could fix the problem but is there a way to do that without loosing all the work I put into customizing my phone.
Simple.
OTA has never supported CWM because of the closed source scripting in CWM. You need philz or twrp in order to use the ota. If you want to keep using CWM you will have to manually flash after the ota has downloaded the update.
