Do you have Windows? If so, go to the <sdk folder>\platform-tools & copy adb.exe, AdbWinApi.dll, AdbWinUsbApi.dll, and fastboot.exe to C:\Windows, and flash the stock rom
If you have linux, press ctrl+alt+t and type sudo apt-get install android-tools-adb android-tools-fastboot

Try disabling Android Debugging or mount USB in custom recovery.
Or since you just want to transfer a file from PC to N7 try AirDroid.

Yeah, that's what I'm attempting now
Edit: Attempted to push and gave me an error while copying over... grrr. First time ever having issues rooting anything and i've worked on 20+ devices. I feel like a n00b all over again.
Edit 2: My friends computer was in read-only mode. I think i've finally found the issue... after 1 hour lol
Edit 3: No luck... *sigh* I think my brain has shut down for the day
Edit 4: Finally got device to mount, all is well again
I've been trying to root my nexus for a few days and have had no luck i tried mskips tool kit and get this "rm failed for /system/bin/su no such file or directory" i have tried the [Guide] Ultimate Nexus 4 Root Guide and the win zip i have wont read the recovery-clockwork-6.0.3.1-mako.img says some thing about an iso and ive tried the zedomax youtube video way and my command window doesn't find the nexus root folder if anyone can help me i would appreciate it because i have given up all hope of getting this damn thing rooted
Why are you trying to open the recovery IMG with WinZip???
Step E from the first post in this thread, but read the entire first post to make sure you have the prerequisites, i.e. adb and the drivers, etc...

You'll have no problem figuring the rest out.

Could also just flash a custom ROM (most, if not all of them come pre-rooted with no effort). This isn't the first time this has happened either, but it's been a long time since it has happened...

+1 Follow this link wugs toolkit is 2nd2none!!!!!!! The hardest part is making sure the drivers are installed correctly(Just plug in your N4 with Debugging on and checked plug in to your computer and windows should install the ADB drivers). After making sure the ADB drivers are installed and USB debugging is on and checked, you might need to toggle "MTP" to "PTP" for Wugs toolkit to see it. I have an issue with my win7 PC not installing the drivers for MTP I don't know if that will be your case just a heads up. I can pull and push using ADB no problem I just need to check PTP for it to show up under ADB. Search YouTube for "Root Nexus 4 Wugfresh toolkit" GL

Tried everything today, still the same cannot read 'sideload' command. I am starting to think someone like Franco needs to figure this out lol.
I had the same problem. I used the sideload method in wugfresh toolkit instead. Its pretty much the same process. Do that instead. You'll have to rename the ota to "update.zip"...and when it confirms the file ...it'll then say "are you sure you want to sideload the "update.zip.zip" file....just say yes.

So after randomly trying the framework trick again, I managed to get the OTA!! I'm relieved I don't have to worry about this stupid adb stuff now.
First off, I'm an idiot.
Nexus 4, 4.3 with Cyanogenmod. Working great until I decided to download Franco Kernel. I installed the latest then the colors inverted. I googled it and found out that the latest update didn't work well with Cyanogenmod and that #188 was the last that did work. I.. like an idiot decided to download and install #188 on top of #192 or whatever it was. Phone goes into **** mode, couldn't do anything on my phone without a popup telling me that android had stopped working so I decide to try factory reset, I don't know what I did wrong this time but now my phone won't even get passed the Google sign on boot up.
Bootloader and recovery still works. I cant push factory zip file to my phone without being in adb mode. What can and should I do?
Cheers

If you can boot into recovery and/or the bootloader, half of your problem is solved. I'm not understanding exactly what is the problem. What I'm saying is, I fully understand what happens when you let the phone do its thing and it stayed on the Google logo, but what I'm NOT understanding is, you not being able to connect to the phone when it is in the bootloader.
Can you boot into the bootloader and connect to your computer?

I've tried to sideload factory 4.4 but it didn't work, I googled the error and people were saying that it doesn't work for rooted devices. I'd unroot though I'm just afraid that I would break something else.

would recommend making sure ur drivers are ok....also make sure u got adb on ur comp with fastboot. these 2 are the main things.
honestly skip other things n flash stock on ur own...just so u can be happy...u havent hard bricked the phone...its still working...
try to find universal naked drivers...smthng on that lines....n N4 is superb...its a Nexus...wont die soon
I was trying to wipe everything from Nexus 4 because i sold it and was going to ship the phone. I did this in the recovery mode (Team Win) and i had cyanogenmod installed.
It turns out i also wiped off any backups and also the OS on the phone. Now the phone has no operating system on it and only boots into recovery mode. I can't even transfer any backups to the phone because for some reason the phone isn't recognised as a storage device on my PC anymore.
What should i do?? I need to install any type of OS before i ship the phone

Done this 2 weeks ago dont freak out. If u are a twrp user u can sideload the from into the device using adb. Make sure u have all the adb drivers on ur pc. Put the rom file into the folder where the adb files are. Now go to ur recovery/twrp advanced then choose sideload. Plug the phone into ur pc. Now go back to the folder whre adb is. Hold shift , right click and choose start open command wndow here. Now the black cmd box will appear type "adb devices" dont include the quotemarks. It should show device with serial and would say sideload at the right. This means ur phone is connected properly, then type adb sideload (nameofrom).zip and it pushes the file into ur phone it will be named sideload.zip. now reboot phone to recovery and flash awayyy. Sorry for the messy instructions

Fast boot requires installing android adb if I am not mistaken. It can get messy if OP doesn't already have it installed.
If you're gonna ship it and sell it. Use this software to restore stock software: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...olkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-8-0-t2015469

Actually, I wasn't sarcastic at all... Sorry for making myself seem like an asshole. (happens to me sometimes...)
I just didn't have time to write a long post, explaining it to him + didn't he already solve his problem through adb?
The same problem happened to me but after thinking it through I found a solution. Just used wugs toolkit and flashed back to stock and selected the option soft-bricked. got me back to stock in no time. Just putting this out there if anyone else is reading this thread and dont/cant use adb.
