[Q] BIG MISTAKE!! Wiped the OS, Please Help - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to wipe everything from Nexus 4 because i sold it and was going to ship the phone. I did this in the recovery mode (Team Win) and i had cyanogenmod installed.
It turns out i also wiped off any backups and also the OS on the phone. Now the phone has no operating system on it and only boots into recovery mode. I can't even transfer any backups to the phone because for some reason the phone isn't recognised as a storage device on my PC anymore.
What should i do?? I need to install any type of OS before i ship the phone
Please help

Could you please elaborate a little bit?? i'm new to this.
What do you mean by "tool kit"??

Done this 2 weeks ago dont freak out. If u are a twrp user u can sideload the from into the device using adb. Make sure u have all the adb drivers on ur pc. Put the rom file into the folder where the adb files are. Now go to ur recovery/twrp advanced then choose sideload. Plug the phone into ur pc. Now go back to the folder whre adb is. Hold shift , right click and choose start open command wndow here. Now the black cmd box will appear type "adb devices" dont include the quotemarks. It should show device with serial and would say sideload at the right. This means ur phone is connected properly, then type adb sideload (nameofrom).zip and it pushes the file into ur phone it will be named sideload.zip. now reboot phone to recovery and flash awayyy. Sorry for the messy instructions

Thank you,
Do i download the rom from here ?? developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamkot49h
And then not extract, just copy that file to the phone using ADB?

If u want flash any custom rom, for the n4 i recommend purity or cataclysm.

Why not just flash it all through fastboot? I find that a lot better/easier than using twrp's adb push.

True , but i am more used to sideloading. U can guide him thru fastboot if u want

OR I can make a big guide with pictures and all for folks like him if there isn't one already... Is there?

Fast boot requires installing android adb if I am not mistaken. It can get messy if OP doesn't already have it installed.

If you're gonna ship it and sell it. Use this software to restore stock software: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...olkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-8-0-t2015469

If you're still stuck , i can help you via teamviewer.

Just use this to return to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34552123

Actually, I wasn't sarcastic at all... Sorry for making myself seem like an asshole. (happens to me sometimes...)
I just didn't have time to write a long post, explaining it to him + didn't he already solve his problem through adb?

The same problem happened to me but after thinking it through I found a solution. Just used wugs toolkit and flashed back to stock and selected the option soft-bricked. got me back to stock in no time. Just putting this out there if anyone else is reading this thread and dont/cant use adb.

Easy hboot S-on recovery/img install or change up.

I haven't seen any post about fastboot flashing recovery,on an s-on Evo using fastboot . Since this is a guaranteed way to flash a recovery. I thought I'd share the process. Your phone must be in fastboot for this to work.
1. Install this folder in C: .... https://www.dropbox.com/s/pr4qllkvwo74vzk/e4grec.zip
2. Go to cmd and type. CD/e4grec .... you will see this..C:\e4grec>
3. Then enter this....fastboot flash recovery recovery-ra-supersonic-4.3-smelkus-mason.img
4.And your done, this same ,method can be used to flash any img file.
Don't worry if you not using the recovery I used as info all you have to do is change the name portion only (IE) (recovery-ra-supersonic-4.3-smelkus-mason)
The fastboot command and recoveries are already inside this folder as fastbootflashcmdReadme.txt.
You must use the entire folder do not remove anything but recovery img's. You can also place any img in this folder to fastboot flash.
I'm recommend that you use smelkus new recoveries as that are the shi#.smelkus ra recoveries can be found here..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661543
Mac and Linux adb and fastboot drivers now included.
Where you've typed fast boot in your instructions, it's 2 words. Shouldn't it be one word ? Fastboot?
And don't people already need to have the sdk installed to use this?
I ask cuz I finally figured out how to install sdk recently (big tip I never knew, gotta have Java installed d'oh) and have been playing a bit and trying to get familiar with fastboot and adb.
Thanks for your efforts

Sent from my HTC Evo 4G using XDA
Yeah that's pretty funny I didn't even notice it was spacing it. This works without use of sdk. Its way easier to place a folder in C: and use cmd. This way anyone can make it work. Everything you need is in one folder. Evo drivers, fastboot and adb are inside with a few other need to haves so when you call the folder from cmd it will automatically initiate the right program for you. If you can't get it to work you can just install drivers, fastboot, adb right from the folder and it will work.

[Q] HELP!! I wiped my whole N7 in recovery.

Hi all!!
I have a huge problem i think.
Yesterday is was rooting my device, and i was about to start flashing a custom rom.
What happened is that in the proces of wiping dalvik cache etc. I by accident wiped the whole system!
So now if i want to reboot, recovery gives the error that there is no OS is installed. If i reboot my nexus 7 keeps hanging in the startup screen wich only displays Google...
It still can reboot in recovery or bootloader, but i cant figure out how to recover. I tried with 2 toolkits, but no succes! I made a nandroid backup but this doesnt work either.
Also i tried several solutions but none of them helped.
Does someone know how i can get my N7 to work again?? :crying:
Wugfresh's toolkit allows you to flash the stock image from the bootloader. Just make sure you check the box that states you cantvpower the device up.
Mskips toolkit, chose the option to flash Google image, it will download, and flash for you, if not your doing it wrong, push comes to shove your going o have to download a custom ROM and use adb to to push it on to your nexus 7 then fire up cwm and lash the rom, your nandroid will be gone unless you took it off/copied to a PC before you messed up.

Yeah, try it, make sure you state you cant boot it, and tell us what parts it stops/fails at
SMH dont use toolkits -_- so you're saying you "could" get into recovery? Why didnt you just adb push a rom
Code:
adb push name-of-rom.zip /data/media
Then flash that rom?

pretty simple. if you know how to use adb then you just need to just a ROM to apply. wether it be the stock or a custom. once you know what ROM, the easiest thing is to paste it into your adb folder (usually platform-tools) and just push it onto your sd card

I'm trying to flash to a stock rom at the moment with the wugfresh toolkit. it seems the process is stuck at the point where it is "sending 'system' to the device. it's "sending 'system'" for more than an hour now... is that ok?? or is there something going wrong?
the picture show's where it gets stucked
Fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-grouper3.34.img
Fastboot flash all nakasijroo3d.IMG w/e its called
Do you have cwm or twrp installed? If so you can mount the 7 like a mass storage device to your computer. This will give you access to the SD card where you can transfer a ROM from your computer to your tablet....I'm not sued where the setting is.....just go into your recovery and dig around....I think its under advanced...

[Q] No ROM on my Nexus 4. Is there a way to recover without backup?

I accidently deleted everything on my internal storage of my Nexus 4 which had the gapps and custom ROM at the same time wiped out my stock ROM. Is there a way for me to recover? My computer cannot find my device whatsoever thus I cannot put any form of ROM onto my Nexus 4.

Well the thing is when I plug it in nothing shows up or says that I've plugged anything in. It sees nothing. So is Fastboot another option?
Get your phone into fastboot and plug it in the PC. If it is seen by the PC then you can go back to stock. If not, you'll have to try another PC to rule out something your end. If that doesn't work either then you might have to RMA it

Looks like you got it working again but another option is using the nexus toolkit v1.63 I think (its under the development thread). The toolkit can push a ROM on your PC directly to the phone and flash via recovery. It only took 5 mins for me to get my phone working when I had this exact same problem.

Do you have a step by step process for that?
1. Download and install minimal adb and fastboot in ur pc.(make sure to install it in desktop for easy access)
2. Download and install pdanet.
3. Download paranoid 4.3 and gapps. Rename them to 1.zip and 2.zip for easy reference. Copy these zips to step 1 folder.( does not have to be 4.3 Rom I just referred it as it is small in size and sideload sometimes has problems to push larger files.)
4. Reboot phone to recovery and perform factory reset followed by all wipes in advanced tab.
5. Go to advanced in home page of twrp and start sideload(connect usb to pc) and open step 1 folder and hold shift and right click mouse within the folder window and select command prompt and command opens and it should display in which folder it is opened in. Type adb devices and it should show your phone and if it does not close command.(keep phone connected to pc and in sideload mode) if it does detect as sideload go to step 8.
6. Open pdanet which u installed and go through options to install lg drivers and now your pc should detect your phone.
7. Exit sideload in phone and restart sideload again. Then do step 5 again. Your PC should show and sideload under devices.
8. Google how to use adb sideload as I don't remember the commands it's not hard at all. Once you knew commands push Rom first to phone followed by gapps (it

No OS, using TWRP help?

So, short of it is I installed TWRP using freegee, which worked correctly. I had a rom on my storage, and did a wipe twice, but now the rom I had on the SD isn't there anymore and not sure what I should do. I search to figure out how to mount or side load the rom on the SD again, but not sure. Any ideas?
My last resort is to go to Best Buy where I bought the phone the other day and just say my phone is stuck on the LG logo and not sure why, it is possible to swap out phones, and hope they let me?
If I get an OTG UBS cable, and put the file on a external USB or USB sd card reader, will that work?

So, short of it is I installed TWRP using freegee, which worked correctly. I had a rom on my storage, and did a wipe twice, but now the rom I had on the SD isn't there anymore and not sure what I should do. I search to figure out how to mount or side load the rom on the SD again, but not sure. Any ideas?

Did you not create a backup before flashing?
Backup was deleted too, or else I would have used it.
Ok since you mess up ! And dont know how to use adb. I suggest you use LG Flash Tool to go back to factory stock so you can go back to stock. And Noooooo returning the phone when it's rooted won't work you have alvery void your warranty by doing that they won't take the phone like that since they can just check if the phone was being rooted and there is no way right now to remove the counter.

Well I tried to ADB via adb sideload, but it didn't work? It said it was starting sideload features, but nothing happens. I tired to use ADB push, but the device was not recognized. Any suggestions there?
So, is there a link to using the LG Flash tool? Thanks
Did you set up adb in the computer? Do you have the drivers for it? If yes check the cable or the computer usb port is the problem.

Here ya go buddy.. This is the easiest way.. Flashtool

Well I would think ADB flash tool should work if I was able to root via command prompt. I know I had the drivers installed. I will try a different usb cable, and usb port. On a side note if I get an OTG cable and use a SD card with a usb reader will I be able to use that to just flash a rom?
With adb, I click adb sideload, and then let in starting sideload features mode in the fastboot folder I open command prompt and type adb push rom.zip with rom.zip being the new rom i want to install, right? But, when I tried that nothing really happens.
This one is specific for Verizon, if you have the Verizon model since you never specified. Try this or the other one posted. And also read up a little more you seem a tad on the short end lol ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960
Yeah that is the one I am reading as I have the Verizon model. And short end how so?
It worked correctly and I feel relieved. Thank you all. I just re-rooted and installed CWM touch via command prompt and it all worked correctly. Now I am just waiting to download another rom and see how that turns out. Again Thank you all.
