Cheers to this. It's weird seeing less activity these days due to people upgrading. I've learned a lot here in just one year of joining XDA.

This phone was awesome, I still have it laying around next to my computer, with WarmTwoPointThree, but this Rezound is such a perfect thing to upgrade to. It's nice to see a phone grow up like this, whereas with the inc, I started lurking here back when Sense 3.0 was going around, and the biggest thing. ICS Sense is awesome guys, just saying

Yeah, everyone here has been really helpful. But I'm starting to see other forums here develop similarly as their phones are rooted.
I was lucky that by the time I rooted my AMOLED DInc (a year after getting it), there was already a strong community here to help me through.
But perhaps the most important lesson I learned is that, while HTC hardware is nice, I don't really like Sense (especially now that I've been running CM7 for a year now). If HTC introduces an HD phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, I'll be all over it. If it's a different vendor, then they will get my money. You see, now that I see how easy it is to customize a phone after it's gotten rooted, I really don't care too much about who made it.
And if I don't like any of the phones announced at MWC, I'll probably pick up an LG Spectrum and see what I can do with it...

i think im going to keep this phone till it dies. its the perfect size. i get great battery life and will all the development that has gone into it. It might not be supported but the great devs out there but it still lives on.

I'm so glad I went with the Incredible (although late). The only gripe is I use the 3500 extended battery and wished I didn't have to, as it does give it a bulky look.
But like they say, it's what's on the inside that counts right?
I notice I have been keeping tabs on the so-called HTC Edge/Endeavor that is supposed to be revealed next month.

Definitely a great community for help, and also some of the best dev's are here. I bought a Fascinate (for a semi-upgrade), and the community is lacking there. Sadly, I think I'll be parting the Incredible, for an upgrade to GN or Rezound.

A 4" screen is the most ideal IMO. I have no qualms with watching movies on the 3.7", but as I matured with the phone I guess I should step up in size as my video viewing has increased immensely.
A 4.7-ish" screen sounds scary but I'm sure I can adapt.

I finally went to see the nexus at my local Verizon last night and wow...compared to the inc screen, it is kinda big. I do want to get it for ICS, 4G, font facing camera, etc. but I don't really need a screen that big (that's how I feel), I guess I’m going to wait a bit longer to see what's coming out in the next few months. Plus, I hate the fact that after being a vz customer for a long time, the phone upgrade price is higher than a new customer price. (I saw new customer price on amazon.com for $99), why don't they have incentives for users to stay with the same company.
Also, I wish there was a doc or something listing the devs/themes/testers/etc. of the inc and where they are now in terms of dev/themes/etc, which phones they have moved on to....sometimes it would make switching a bit easier.

Exactly the same way I feel about the GN. The screen is too big, I wish it was like 4.3". That's my limiting point. 4.0" would be ideal, and add that with 720p resolution, that would be a dream come true. You have a high PPI, not to mention, smaller screen = lower battery consumption (compared to a bigger screen). I'm due for an upgrade next week, and I'm leaning towards the Rezound. I just wish that phone was thinner!

The GN is really only a 4.3" viewable area. Its just that they have on screen buttons that take up that extra .35" but yeah it goes seem huge. Rezound feels nice, so does the Razr. MAXX. And the battery on that thing is 3300mah!!!!!! Holy Cow!

I miss the incredible community. I upgraded to the rezound, and though there are many familiar faces from here, it is not the same. Newtoroot, Nils,and Bored are all there with new Roms, but some of the other members are alot more rude, and hostile than here. I was just cruising through memory lane. This post got my attention, and just wanted to say you are right on the money. This forum is a great place, and I wish we could all upgrade to the same phone at the same time. Peace.....

I was able to pick up my dream phone (Weird how much we value these things now, isn't it?) August of last year after 4 months of research and another 4 of hunting one down. I found mine minty fresh used amOLED for $150 outright and never looked back.
1900mAh battery in stock back casing, Seidio Active Case, and Steinheil Ultra Clear screen protector.
So what does that give me? A small, quick phone with battery life up to 3 days, internet, maps (my favorite), and friends just a click away. There isn't a device made today that can touch us, which is why our Devs have gone so far.

WP7 does look fairly cool and the features aren't much different from Android. You wouldn't lose much in regards to functions which is great. I have UberMusic as well and love the WP7 theme for it.

^ This. I've had my upgrade available for a while. The newer phones generally get worse battery life vs dINC with mods- and I'm also not a big fan of the super large screens. I easily lasted the day with stock, but I put on the 2150 just to make sure I never had to worry, so while my buddies with the samsung galaxy nexus and moto razr go to plug theirs in at work I'm not even worried.
There's huge amounts of development here, people are awesome (unlike some forums I've visited ), and there's nothing on my phone that I feel needs an upgrade. 3G speeds can stream HD youtube, web surf and stream internet radio flawless so I'm all set until this baby dies or there's some god-like phone that comes out.

This has been a great community, I like many others have moved on to other phones. It is still a great back up phone so it is nice to pop back in here to keep up to date on new mod and roms.

From Gnex to Maxx HD...

Thinking about picking up a Maxx HD because I am starting to dislike the Gnex battery life. Its a tough decision since I would have to buy the Maxx HD off contract. Has anyone done this? Do they feel like they have given anything up (besides the ROMS). I feel with the JB leak and forthcoming official OTA it seems like the software is catching up. I know 4.2 is out there but it seems like the changes are more modular (Google Now being an update to Google Search, keyboard can be updated with root, camera can be updated with root, etc.) and am not sure 4.2 will be that critical. It seems the under the hood improvements are done in 4.1. So anyone have any thoughts on if its worth it to spend that much for the battery?

Well, I didn't come directly from Gnex to Maxx HD, but after 6 replacement Gnexes VzW let me swap out my Gnex for a Maxx. Loved the Gnex as a device, but for me it fell way short as a phone... I had constant call quality issues. I had been running mostly stock ROM's on my Gnex anyway, so flashing and modding weren't high on my priority list - I just wanted a phone that worked as a PHONE!
Right away I loved the Maxx - far superior call quality and, of course, insane batter life. All I wanted was call quality as charging my Gnex never really bothered me. That is until I got spoiled by the Maxx LOL. Not having to constantly monitor your usage in order to preserve battery was a (great) added benefit of making the switch.
Anyway, I decided to go ahead and get the Maxx HD at full retail. As much as I loved my Maxx I really missed my on screen navigation keys (as silly as that sounds). I thought I would return after the 14 days cuz $650 for on screen keys is crazy LOL. Well, today is day 15! This device is truly amazing IMO ... JB will make it that much better (so tempting to flash that leak, but I am trying to hold out for OTA).
My advice is this: if you got the cash and are on the market for a new device I'd definitely recommend the MAXX HD! Great battery, build and radios.

Thanks for the advice. What really is putting me over the edge is I had this Android night class a couple of weeks ago. I would go into the 3.5 hour class with 100% battery or maybe less since it was at the end of the day. The room killed my reception, I had maybe a bar if I pointed it the right direction. I kid you not, the battery would be done by the end of that 3.5 hours. And I maybe sent a text or two or checked an ebay auction but it was basically unusable without the signal. So its not really about the radio, its more about the battery. Now I have times where I let it sit over night then wake up with maybe 90% if i am lucky and then its a while till I get to a power source. At work I can have it plugged in all the time if I want and in the car I can plug it it. But its starting to become a "wired" device instead of wireless since I have it plugged in all the time so I have 100% when I go somewhere. I hate having to turn this and that off to get a days worth of a charge.

I hear ya... I am not a heavy user (by my definition of the phrase), but I have been averaging about 1 day / 15 to 17 hours on my MAXX HD. Around 2-3 hours screen time, 1.5 - 2 hours of calls, about an hour or so on Pandora and sometimes there's GPS in the mix as well on a single charge.
Bad reception will kill any phone's battery, but at least with the Maxx you've got a big reservoir ...

Coming from an Inc4G to the Maxx HD its like night and day. While I did like the Inc this phone blows it out of the water in pretty much every department, and seeing as this is my first Moto phone I am very impressed with the quality. As everyone's saying once JB comes and perhaps we get a few good devs supporting this new Razr line (read: roms and mods lol), this phone will be a BEAST

I also went from gnex to HD Maxx. Got it first weekend of release.
I love it. It's really in a different class in terms of build quality, design, and audio. It's got the best speakerphone that I've ever heard in a cell. The battery of course is great and with our extended post-Sandy outage it's been very useful.
I had the giant extended battery on the gnex and the HD Max gets longer life.
Sure it's a drag with no JB at launch, but the leak is already out and hopefully the dev community will latch on to the phone. The HD is a serious device with a pro-quality feel to it. I haven't looked back.

If you have to buy off contract check out the HD dev edition.. It is unlockable just like the Gnex. I get over a days worth of battery with moderate use.

I thought about that but I would love to just have so much battery I don't know what to do with it. I am kind of tired of turning all this stuff off in regards to saving battery. I am kind of done with ROMS, I hate flashing over and over, I just like to keep my set up. And with ICS and JB, Android is at a pretty sweet spot with Google Now being the one thing that is missing from the Razr HD a the moment. But with a leak or officially soon that will be fixed. I am getting bored with the hardware now, and I think from what I have read, the radios and call quality might be better than the Gnex. I had a Bionic for a short time and liked it.

There is a general consensus on the build quality and radios of the Moto phones... hard to beat.

I am in the exact same boat. Using a Verizon Gnex with unlimited data plan, means I have to buy at full retail to keep it. I was set to to switch to TMO when the Nexus 4 was announced, but I found its tiny storage and no LTE underwhelming. And the Gnex/JB battery life is atrocious. ~5hrs with heavy use and moderate signal strength. And thats with the ext battery.
The HD Maxx is about the only Vzw phone I can consider though.

5 hours with extended battery!?!? that is insane

I came from a vzw gnex. Battery life was just too horrible for me to mess with anymore. My razr maxx hd is averaging 1 day 17 hours with 4.5 hrs on screen time. My gnex never got 2hrs on screen time. For these reasons im glad i switched.

I have the Maxx HD too. Signed a two year contract to get it. But all of you guys boasting about the battery, i'll need some advice. I havent really noticed the rave. i mean it's better than my epic but not by a lot. I heard after the first few charges of any new battery it reaches it's potential..Could that be it??? Also ive been using it every day for pretty much of the day but no heavy use...could that be it as well??
Last question is i wanted to put the JB leak but was afraid since it's not official from Verizon i could start seeing battery drainage..Has anyone else considered putting the JB leak on their phone?

I've had the Verizon g nex, SGSIII, Rezound, dinc 2, Droid X (lol) and the iPhone 4s. Now I have the Maxx HD and this phone smokes all of them IMO. My wife and daughter both have the SGSIII and my son has the Razr Maxx. I've done side by side with all of them and the Maxx HD wins in every department.
Some of you may say "well of course chef is gonna say this he owns a Maxx HD now!". I've had em all (except the Note 2 ) and this phone is my personal favorite.
The Note 2 is around the corner too. So maybe wait a couple weeks and play with the Maxx HD and note 2 and see which you like better if you're going to pay off contract pricing. I'm hearing reports that the Note 2 has great battery life also.

The Max HD is hands down my favorite android device. Here is how I came upon owning one.
First and foremost, I am an att customer. I have been on my family plan for years and I am always trying out new phones,whether they are att released phones or internationally released phones. I like apple's products and currently own an iPhone 5 and an iPad. I also really like a lot of thibgs about android devices and feel they are coming closer and closer to the polish that ios carries. I most recently tested out an international note 2 (good device).
For work my company uses Verizon and I have a company provided blackberry to handle my work emails and calls etc.
Anyway I live in the suburbs of new jersey, outside of art lte coverage, so lte has never really been an important feature for me. Sure I could hop on it when I work in new York city but for the most part I'm on hspa+
When hurricane sandy hit, we lost power and basically all att service. Our phones would not call out,receive calls, send texts,emails, NOTHING. on the other hand, my Verizon blackberry was our window to the world phone call wise- at this time the blackberry screen decided to **** the bed.
Then our devices (my current iPhone 5) began dying. All and all the situation was extremely frustrating. Having no cell or data service at a time where there is nothing else to do but sit in the dark and drink was a huge bummer.
This week, I caught up with one of our office administrators to discuss how we were going to replace my broken blackberry. During our discussion she brought up how it is an option to buy your own phone, and use it as one business/personal device since our service is unlimited (and it was definitely annoying to have to carry around two phones at all times)
So here I am. I walked into Verizon yesterday and purchased the Max HD. I have unlimited late everywhere I have gone so far (I have yet to see the 3g symbol). I am pulling down speeds averaging around 18mbps, and have yet to even switch wifi on. The phone is plenty snappy for everyday usage and then some. Call quality and reception are phenominal thanks to motos awesome radios

Last night I downloaded an episode of a show I had missed via torrents. That is simply stuff you just can't do in iOS.
Tldr :
I love this phone. Build quality and performance as well as practicality and use ability as a phone is second to none.
The note 2 does have a big battery,but then again I was using the GSM international version. I haven't paid attention to any reviews of the us lte version. The quad core does run some higher end games better than the Max, but that is nit important to me. I don't have the time or the energy to play games other than casual stuff like scramble, doodle jump and rayman jungle run - all of which run fine on the Max. If you're a power user this probably is your better bet. I however am a casual user, that uses their phone heavily. This device is perfect for that. Also, motos skin is much nicer than touchwiz. The build quality is also much nicer.
Max HD, best phone you could get, and paired with my iPad for tablet use, graphically intensive games and couch use, it is the best of both worlds. I'm siked on my current setup.

I am currently a Verizon GNex User. However after a rash of replacements I am now approved for a "Replacement Device" after comparing all the features of the Gnex I am pushing for a Maxx HD as it offers the battery life and storage capacity I am looking for plus the option for a micro SD has me excited. I have been using JB for a while so to downgrade back down to ICS will be a challenge however I know of the JB Leak and as long as it's Stock and preforms I am going to be very happy I believe. I am currently awaiting the call back from VZW Tech Support to give me the recommended replacement options. It should be noted I bought the extended life battery and Otterbox. I will be happy to toss the otterbox.
I will update when I "hopefully" get the good news.
Update ** -- They offered a Original RAZR - I indicated that I use NFC and have 32GB of storage and have an extended batter with a 4.7 inch screen. I paid 400.00 with a 2 year at launch so I would not accept anything less then a RAZR HD 16GB.
2nd Update ** -- They have now offered me a Galaxy S3 with Extended Life Battery. The Razr HD is not on the table because it is a "Iconic" premotional device.But at least I will get a great replacement with data now.

Compared to the Galaxy Nexus...

I know this might sound like a stupid question, but hear me out.
I currently own a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. As of last week, I am due for an upgrade. I am interested in the Moto X mainly because of the size and battery life so I've been browsing the forums trying to find out which device I should upgrade to. Here are some questions I have:
Compared to the Galaxy Nexus, how is the camera quality? I've heard mixed things in this department, but if the sensor in the Moto X is better than what I have now, I'll take it.
How is the battery life on the Verizon model? I know people have been reporting good battery life on the AT&T models but I know LTE modems can suck the life out of Verizon phones (like the GNexus).
I don't really do much but take pictures and browse the web. I need good battery life as I commute to school during the week. Is this phone good enough for my needs? I was also looking into the HTC One but I just hate not using a relatively stock Android phone. I know this is the absolute wrong place for this, but for someone in my situation, would it make sense to look into the iPhone 5S? Great camera and battery life is important but I don't know about dealing with iOS 7.
This topic is mainly for users who are in my situation (coming off a two-year contract) and looking to upgrade. If you own a Galaxy Nexus on any carrier, please feel free to chime in!

I have have both the new Maxx and the X was delivered this morning. Maxx is a great phone with a suburb battery. With that being said I absolutely love the form factor of the X. My worry is going to be battery also. I gave the X a quick charge just to have something and off I went. Long story short, the battery goes fast. Having the note 2 in the past and now the Maxx, I have been spoiled. The only thing that would make me return the X will be the battery. I will give you a better idea by tonight.

remember, you have to use the phone for a few days before you judge the battery. please don't say "it's going fast" when you are spending all your time installing and loading and playing with it. it needs to learn you. come back after 48 hours and report what you think.

Compared to the GNex the battery of the X for me is night and day. The X seems to have good battery life for me.

Worked for Verizon store manager, regional manager and tech support. for 10 years. Owned Droid, RAZR, RAZR Maxx, Thunderbolt, Incredible 1 and 2, S3,S4, Note 2, Bionic etc etc...

I would also love to know how it compares signal/antenna wise. My GNex is killing me at my new work location. It always sucked at home, but I'm really curious how much of that was the crappy antennas/radio on the GNex. My wife's little LG lucid rocks 4G in places my Nexus gets nothing at all!

I would also love to know how it compares signal/antenna wise. My GNex is killing me at my new work location. It always sucked at home, but I'm really curious how much of that was the crappy antennas/radio on the GNex. My wife's little LG lucid rocks 4G in places my Nexus gets nothing at all!

Don't let the Verizon Nexus signal be any indication of how ANY other phone is. That phone was the worst I had...period. The signal and battery were atrocious. Even with the extended battery it never made it through the day. Moto makes great radios. You will not need to worry in that regard.

The x kills the gnex on every level imo, especially battery

Awesome, thanks. One more follow-up for folks that have used the X a bit on VZW LTE ... how's the heat under load/weak cell signal? Other than the piss-poor radio/antenna, this was my biggest issue with the GNex. But that did force me to get a tablet to play games; so it wasn't ALL bad!

so how does this phone compare in size to the gnex? I know the screen size is basically the same, but from the cases I saw, it looks like the physical size is a little smaller, is that a problem for you guys?

I'm pretty sure motorola is lying about the actual battery size in this thing, short of gaming there is no way you will kill this thing in under 16 hours it is quite impressive.

The size is still just fine in the hand and im all about making the device only as big as it needs to be to house of the screen. and yes it it's a little shorter and thinner but it wasn't really super noticable for me but I should say it has been awhile since I had a gnex.

Gotta say I'm loving this phone..more than my old s4 and HTC one!!

I am a very picky phone owner, let me just say that right away. I always have a different phone cause I need to have the latest and greatest. After having the moto x I truly feel as if this is the best overall phone out right now for me.
The s4 was just too damn big and I felt like I always need to use both hands to do anything. Sure the camera was nice but it my daily use its not as big a difference as people make it out too be. Battery was OK, but my x is way better!!
The htc one def has the nicest screen out. But unless your staring at both of these phones side by side the difference is negligible. The camera on the one was absolutely horrible no matter what the conditions! Blurry and over processed colors. Battery life was good but again the x is way better.
I think that overall for what I use the phone for, the x is gonna be with me for a while. I love the size!!! Feel perfect, a good size screen and yet I don't need two hands to always use it. The active notifications are awesome!! Screen is good for me, I'm not one to purposely stare at the screen to try and see if I can see pixels etc. Battery life is awesome, I'm easily getting 4+ hours of screen on time. The camera is not nearly as bad as most reviews report, in my findings. Yes the s4 is better but the moto x holds its own!
I'd like more dev support cause I'm a crackflasher. I'm sure it will come. But if it doesn't happen I'm OK with it because the phone is pretty much the way I'd want a ROM to be anyways.

As someone who was a hardcore flashaholic this is the first phone I've had that I don't feel the need to immediately load a new ROM onto.

Agreed - I've had tons of android phones (G1, G2, evo and evo 3d, moto backflip, droid and droid 3, galaxy S2, nexus 1, nexus S, gnex, and even the kyocera echo), but once I went to an iphone 5, I swore I'd never go back.
Once ios7 was out though, android started looking more appealing to me again. Moto X is the phone that brought me back! I've gone to the store multiple times to play with the GS4 and the HTC one, but I could never pull the trigger.
The Moto X is the phone that brought me back to android. I love it

I'm glad I'm not the only one. MOTO X is nice.

This phone with a few tweaks with Xposed is really really great. Battery is stellar. The camera is not the best however once the software is fixed it will be fine. The only thing I'm missing is t9 dialer. I'll find a way to push the CM apk.

How is the video recording? Have you used it to record any concerts with bass? I'm about to get the X in November. How does it record in comparison to the HTC One? I heard the One has really good speakers and recording.. Thanks!

I agree. I also tend to always have the latest and greatest and waffle between ios and android. Most recently I came from the HTC One Developer Edition and although I really liked that phone the Moto X is much better for me. The ergonomics are just great, not much bigger than an iphone 5, and the battery is very good. The active notifications are just brilliant and with them I rarely need to use the power button, just a quick swipe and I'm were I need to be. Killer phone.

Agreed. I had the HTC One and then the GS4 Active shortly after that and now I have the Moto X. This thing runs circles around both those phones in every regard. Don't miss a single thing about either of them.

Yeah same here. Best phone I've ever owned. I got over 5 hrs screen on today with 25% left. Came from the HTC one and no regrets. Haven't rooted Yet, probably won't. Exposed framework looks interesting though.

Im also very picky in how I like my phone look and function both hardware/software. im still waiting for my moto x to get unlocked But so far I still need a new ROM.
Need to remove att garbage
Need quick toggles to be customizable. Add WiFi tethering/ flashlight etc. Also don't like how single click takes you to the menu on a specific toggle instead holding it toggles the feature.
Would like paranoid ROM, halo is a nice feature I got used to on my nexus 4
Id settle for quick toggles fix and halo (not that I have a choice) STOP SAYING YOU DONT NEED ROMS!!
That being said I like how minimalistic (ROM) Motorola is now and see myself buying more of their devices. Personally hate Samsung galaxy series. There is no need for a physical buttons on screen is the way to go.
Hope the moto x gets some good people working on Roms. I love the size of this phone and really want to stop jumping from phone to phone chasing that perfect combination. But my guess is the grass will always seems to be greener on the other side......nexus 5.

Still getting used to the smaller screen from my S4 GPe. Just got the moto x on Tuesday so gonna stick with it for a few weeks.
If I HAD to decide today I would go back to my S4. Which is why I committed to at least two weeks. We'll see.

The icons and fonts are much smaller than a s4 screen. Especially when you factor in the on screen buttons the actual usable screen is much less than than I was expecting. In fact I am not to sure if it is much bigger than my iPhone 5.

After soft bricking my GS4, I had to get a new phone while i work on that. I had been eyeing the Moto X and it was cheap. But now that i have been playing with it for a few days, its great. For me the Software is great, I love the voice commands, coming from an iphone i sorely missed siri and I feel that Moto X realy handles this better then the GS4.
As for hardware, I miss my GS4. The bigger screen was nice, and I loved the IR blaster.
If I could get the Moto X Rom on to the GS4 ( after I unbrick it) that would be ideal.

I've been looking at this phone but the fact is Nexus 5 will be a better device in terms of hardware, software and future updates.
Also I love the people here saying this is the best phone they've ever used. I think they copy paste that from their post on their prior phones.
I'm sure moto x is a great phone but its momentary. When you get your next phone that'll be the best one yet.
Prove me wrong, keep your moto x for 1 year and I'll be impressed. Doubt many of you in this forum will do that.

Coming from the Note 2 (and about every phone before that) I'm happy with my decision.
Something definitely feels off the first two days transitioning from the Note 2. Then I realized what it is: I'm not holding a mini-tablet anymore.

Droid Turbo or Nexus 6?

For us that are stuck with Verizon and do not and can not fork out $600, where is the Nexus 6! Are we still getting it, and when! Or should I just give up and get the Droid Turbo?

The only thing which persuaded me to get the Turbo vs the Nexus is the size. I just cant deal with a 6" phone.
I actually prefer the 4.7 - 5.0 range (ie my old Droid DNA was PERFECT size) and Turbo is close enough that it doesnt bother me. But anything larger was just too much.
Of course, if you care more about root than size, Nexus is the way to go.

Very true I agree. I mean the galaxy note 4 is borderline but still big and the nexus 6 is out of this world huge like the iPhone plus. Do they want me to get custom made jeans with pockets 6 inches deep and wide? I mean hecks no! This turbo is by far the best size along with the g3. Best hand form feel. Specs are similar to nexus and turbo but then again 565ppi for under 6 inches is more impressive than the nexus 6 ppi for 6 inch screen

I got the Turbo and love it. The idea of a Nexus phone was enticing, but the Nexus 6 was just too darn big. I'm glad about my decision and love everything about the Turbo. A smartphone is a tool to me, and Motorola did a magnificent job with that. Sure, some other phones are prettier, but I love the post-industrial look of the Turbo. I find it beautiful! I never use a case with my phones. Just think about it...take the iPhone which Apple spends a bundle on industrial design, and most users put an awful looking case on it. To me, a phone that needs a case is a poor design. The Turbo, by the way, includes one free screen replacement if necessary.
On the whole, the battery, while not the 48 hour duration that is claimed, still is simply amazing. The phone is fast and buttery smooth. The screen is great. Also, regarding the camera, It's been taking sharp, very impressive, oh wow photos for me. The "shutter lag" issue is a pseudo problem. No phone is meant for quick burst photos of fast action subjects. But the Camera Zoon FX does have a burst mode that works great with the Turbo.
Unless you want a 6 inch screen, I find the Turbo the phone of the year.

You can get 48h now pretty easily. You just cannot have heavy usage for 48 hours, which was never the intended claim.

My last phone was also the DNA and I loved it. If you compare the size of the DNA with the Turbo they are almost identical with the Turbo only being slightly thicker because of the battery.
I think the N6 would be just too big for me to fit comfortably in my pants and shorts pockets. I also like that I can use my Turbo one handed. The N6 also doesn't come in black.
The only thing I hate about the Turbo (yes, hate) is that the capacitive keys are KK and not LP symbols. I know the phone came out with KK on it, but LP was right around the corner and they look so much better than the KK symbols.

Yeah the turbo is a excellent phone. The decision has to be made based on your need for root and size of the phone.
My DNA already has lollipop. I almost popped my Sim back in the other day.

100% true.
Its easy to get 48hours or more with only light usage. I did it specifically to test a few times.
But with heavy usage (ie, most people on XDA), its still lasts through a full day and then some, and NO other phone I've ever had would last this long

I'll chime in my $.02 here since I had the turbo and just recently sold it, and bought the N6. First off yes the N6 is huge, and that originally was the sole reason I didn't really want one. There are a few things that drove me to making the switch. I came from the LG G2, and honestly the G2 was and is one of the best devices on the market.. The size of the phone is perfect for me, it's thin, light, small bezel, etc.. I do like having root but I am by no means a ROM junkie like I was back in the OG Droid, then Gnex days.. so the G2 was perfect for me in that sense as well.. My original plan was to get the Droid Turbo, and sell my G2, but on black friday I got such a good deal on the turbo i was able to keep both. While using the Turbo I often found myself not being able to use the phone comfortably with one hand, and then the whole probably not going to get root thing.. So I figured if I am going to have a phone that in all honesty I will need to consistently use two hands to use, well then might as well go big, and get the benefits of a Nexus. I still have my G2 and a nano-->micro sim adapter so I can easily move back and forth between devices when I so desire.
I will say that with all those factors in mind had the turbo gotten root I probably would have kept it, it really is a well made phone, and I had no issues with the camera, and the latest update to add simultaneous voice and data was nice to have (being that the N6 currently doesn't support that on VZW), but I also have no regrets at this point (only 24 hours with the N6 though).
Like I said that's my $.02.

and if you really want the nexus 6 i believe it works right out box for verizon. if you order from google or motorola whichever one. theres plenty of video on youtube and droid-life.com and a couple other sites already confirmed this. i hope youre happy with whatever decision you make.

i can confirm the nexus 6 works right of the box on Verizon. The one I bought was originally purchased at a T-Mobile store. I put my sim in and good to go.. calls, data(LTE/3G) mms, all work without any tinkering.
It's huge plain and simple.. so if you can get past that, then I would say go for the Nexus.. I haven't had very many opportunities to use camera other then basic shots, but so far I am pleased.
