Hi,
i have a defy +, rooted and installed the last quarx cm10 nightly for the defy+ (not the second boot version, latest version from 24 sep). everything worked, had it in use for 2 days. then out of a sudden (can't remember really what i was using at that moment) the phone rebooted. not it is stuck at the cyanogenmod spinning circle logo with the led flashing red every 5 secs or so. i can get into recovery with vol down when led is blue at start.
i guess i could flash the stock rom (don't have my nandroid backup on card) but perhaps someone has a solution. already wiped cache and dalvik cache, didn't help.
try this
-Mount the SD card and upload the lasted cm 10 quarx build
-First Wipe data , cache , dalvik
-Format /system is very important with this removes the old ROM totally (DON'T REBOOT THE PHONEEE !!! )
-Flash the ROM and try if works

Hi there.
Here's my problem : When I boot my phone, everything is OK, I unlock my SIM card with my PIN, and in the next 30 seconds, my phone reboot. Unlock, and reboot, and again, and again.
-When I put my phone in airplane mode, it doesn't reboot.
-When I disable data, it reboots every 2-3 hours.
-If I let my phone on the SIM PIN dialer, it doesn't reboot.
I was on CM7 RC1 nighlty 8, no problems, it's when I flashed (without wipe anything) CM7 RC2 nighlty 3 or 4...
I tried :
-Restore NANdroid backup : same.
-Flash CM7 RC2 : same.
-Factory reset, wipe data, cache, format /sytem, format /boot, format /cache... And flash CM7 RC2 nightly#25... Same !
-Flash another ROM (Wildpuzzle) : Same.
Where's the problem ? My SIM card ?
Do a full wipe then install nightly 18, then flash Jacobs 4.1 kernel, then flash the latest radio, without rebooting in between. Then reboot. Remember first boot can take up to 15 minutes so be patient
Thanks for your answer, I'm doing this right now.
Just a question : "Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10.zip" -> is this the very latest radio ?
It is, yeah. Dont do anything silly like pull the battery while the radio is flashing or you might brick your phone
It seems to work
Thanks a lot

Guys, I desperately need help. I followed this guide to install CM7.1 nightly into my Defy and at the end I got the CM7 logo loop. Based on the guide, I took out the battery and put it back and now it's stuck at the small "Google" logo. I took out the battery again and went to the system recovery to wipe cache/factory reset. I got bunch of "mount" cache errors (command, log). I then went to the custom recovery and did the wipe cache again, this time beside "mount" cache error, there were some "open" cache errors. I did the wipe one more time and all of these errors gone. Booted it up again, and it still stuck at the "Google" screen so I went into the custom recovery trying to wipe dalvik cache as the guide said. I selected that option but nothing happened. No question asked to confirm the wipe and all it did was a short blink screen and the screen stayed the same.
Any helps would be highly appreciated !!!
That sounds a bit tricky to me, but first things first.
The first boot after installing CM7 can take a while (some minutes) since all the dalvik cache and other things has to be built. Taking out the battery during that is somewhat risky I think. After the first boot, the system starts pretty fast.
The best guess for you (at least that is what I would try) is:
go to recovery, clear dalvik cache and cache. If you have not installed CM7 before, i would also recommend to clear data as well (ok you lose you data but I hope that you were not doing it without a backup).
Then I would reflash cm7 and try again.
since you had the cm7 boot scree, I believe you have no kernel problem...
by the way, do you know what version your initial rom was?
I think it`s better to flash it from scratch:
1) Flash your previous rom with RSD
2) Root + cwm recovery
3) Cyan
(and if I were you - I would do wipe from stock recovery after 1st step and wipe from custom recovery after 3 step)
Yes, as Iddqd2 suggested just flash stock froyo using RSD Lite and then go all over for CM7 method of installation.
Hi there,
is it normal that /system is full? I'm on Quarx CM10.
Please see screenshot.
Thanks,
Matthias
Not ok.
I've asked in CM10 FAQs tread why system is full after clean install, answer is Full Gapps is the culprit.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36151535&postcount=816
So, do a clean install again and use this minimal Gapps instead. http://d-h.st/lxT
Thanks.
Here is what I did:
Boot into custom recovery
Selected factory reset
wipe cache / dalvik
Installed CM10 20121118 nightly
Installed JB Mini GApps
Wipe cache / Dalvik again
When I do that I get to 9MB free system....
Does the factory reset format the system partition?
Is of no importance if you have free space on /system. If you wanna make some room on ROM partition you can remove some system app. But again, no benefit.
To finish this thread, I found help here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36380618&postcount=2
Got the ext4 full wipe script here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
Did a full wipe and flashed CM 10 + mini apps and back to 50mb.
I think I will do this all the time now so stuff does not stay in the system partition.
Anyone can help how I can do this without a working CWM ? I updated from 7.2 to Quarx CM10 but failed to see that I should only install the minimal gapps (the howto (wrongly?) mentioned "Use the last gapps-jb-2012XXXX-signed.zip" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647 )
First CM10 didnt boot at all (only saw the rotating ring, and had to remove the battery), then I entered stock recovery and wiped data/factory reset. Now it boots somehow, but it asks me for google account etc. each time and is quite slow overall. I then saw /system only has some kilobytes free space. If I boot to system menu or recovery, it just normally reboots.
Remounting /system RW as root didnt work.
Any way to still be able to clean up /system ?? I also couldnt write a SBF with sbf_flash in linux. Do I need windows with RDS Lite and a specific SBF ? I tried the SBF mentioned there below "Common Problems/Questions" for recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982 "JORDN_U3_97.21.51"
------
EDIT:
I am sorry, I was too stupid to press the down button in the right moment when the blue led is on.
But I am wondering why no howto mentions to clean up /system .. I always thought this is handled by some script in the update.zip files. It is clearly a very bad idea to NOT clean up system. It will be stuffed full with data garbage between your normal files ...
Hello, I recently bought a used working perfectly defy +
after a couple of days I root it, 2ndinit installed, backup of my rom, and put the latest version of CM10 quarks ...
I tried it a bit and I did not like, so I have downloaded a cm7.2 and tried to flash following the guides, restart, locks on the red motorola logo .... retested with different wipe, nothing to do
I try to flash a wiui but with the same result ....
i do a restore of my rom, but when I reboot always hangs on the motorola logo red
Now I tried to flash using RSD Lite the DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-139_ _Service1FF .... reboot and unfortunately the phone goes in loop, turn on, motorola logo appears with the animation, the animation ends and restarts ....
the battery was charged to 90% before these operations now i want to be sure of what I have to do

I think your problem can be the filesystem format.
If you were o last Qarx Rom that is on 2ndboot and this use the EXT4 format for filesystem.
If you wanna install CM7.2. WIUI or Stock ROMs, you need get back to the EXT3 FS.
For that to work, is good that from recovery format data/cache and dalvik on ext3 followed by WIPEs,
then, flash the custom CM7.2 WIUI or other non 2nd Boot ROM.
To format, you need go to your BootMenu and select Tools ===> File System Tools and
Format DATA and CACHE in ext3 :> This erase your data and apps but you can back to whatever non 2nd Boot ROM for your phone.
I hope this help U.
(Sorry my bad English, in beginner on 2nd language)

If you have bootloop then wipe data/cache and dalvik from recovery. If problem persist re-flash the sbf after a total wipe.
after a wipe data/cache now my defy+ works with stock rom......
but why can't i install cm7 after install cm10....

because of different form format of partitions you need to wipe data/cache and dalvik from stock recovery! just before flashing and for safety is good to do even after flash

when you passed from CM10 to CM7.2 you must format data/cache to ext3 and that can be done from STOCK recovery and not from custom

but now im stuck.
i tried to install cm10.1-20130415 nightly from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1768702
i also downloaded gapps-jb20121011 for jb4.1.2
i booted into custom recovery and did a wipe data and wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.
then i flashed the ROM and after that i flashed Gapps.
then i rebooted and i have to unlock my sim card.
after that the process gapps and the setup wizard stops working and crashes.
i only know how to go into the stock(?) recovery (volume down + power until android symbol, then vol up+down)
