I tried it a bit and I did not like, so I have downloaded a cm7.2 and tried to flash following the guides, restart, locks on the red motorola logo .... retested with different wipe, nothing to do
I try to flash a wiui but with the same result ....
i do a restore of my rom, but when I reboot always hangs on the motorola logo red
Now I tried to flash using RSD Lite the DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-139_ _Service1FF .... reboot and unfortunately the phone goes in loop, turn on, motorola logo appears with the animation, the animation ends and restarts ....
the battery was charged to 90% before these operations now i want to be sure of what I have to do

I think your problem can be the filesystem format.
If you were o last Qarx Rom that is on 2ndboot and this use the EXT4 format for filesystem.
If you wanna install CM7.2. WIUI or Stock ROMs, you need get back to the EXT3 FS.
For that to work, is good that from recovery format data/cache and dalvik on ext3 followed by WIPEs,
then, flash the custom CM7.2 WIUI or other non 2nd Boot ROM.
To format, you need go to your BootMenu and select Tools ===> File System Tools and
Format DATA and CACHE in ext3 :> This erase your data and apps but you can back to whatever non 2nd Boot ROM for your phone.
I hope this help U.
(Sorry my bad English, in beginner on 2nd language)

If you have bootloop then wipe data/cache and dalvik from recovery. If problem persist re-flash the sbf after a total wipe.

after a wipe data/cache now my defy+ works with stock rom......
but why can't i install cm7 after install cm10....

because of different form format of partitions you need to wipe data/cache and dalvik from stock recovery! just before flashing and for safety is good to do even after flash

when you passed from CM10 to CM7.2 you must format data/cache to ext3 and that can be done from STOCK recovery and not from custom

[Q] Motorola Defy on CM7 stucked on boot screen! Urgent!

Hi guys!
I have just rooted my Motorola Defy and installed CM7 (7.0.2) into it using the instructions provided by CM wiki. I decided to use ClockworkMod and bootmenu, since I'm on Mac OS X.
Well, everything went fine until I tried to open the Market app, which was not working. Searching the web, I found that the solution could be wiping user data and caché through the recovery mode. As I could not figure out how to start the bootmenu (which I learned later), I did it through the stock recovery mode (using power + volume down)... and since that I can't boot my phone anymore!
I have already tried wiping everything again and installing CM7, but I'm still facing this problem.
Please, anyone have any ideas? I'm almost desperate.

So after doing a factory reset from stock recovery, you say you're trying to install CM7...
Are you installing this from CWM recovery?
Did you wipe Dalvik cache?
Are you using an MB525 Defy or an MB526 Defy+, and is the CM7 zip you're flashing a Defy or a Defy+ build?
>
You've probably not wiped Dalvik it seems.
In CWM recovery, go to Advanced and under that select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Do yhis and a normal cache wipe every time you flash a ROM update. If you flash a totally new rom like CM10, wipe data also.

Hi! Thanks for the reply, and sorry for my English.
Actually, I have already installed CM7 and it worked fine, except for the Market app. Trying to solve this, I have done a factory reset from stock recovery and, since that, CM7 is locked to the boot screen.
And yes, I have installed CM7 through CWM recovery, and I'm using a MB525 Defy.
Well, I have just tried wiping Dalvik Cache, but it seem as if nothing happens when I select this.
Ya wiping Dalvik is very fast, but it will make a lot of difference. Every time you update your ROM, wipe both cache and dalvik.
>
If this didn't solve your problem, try wiping market data and uninstalling market updates. They will reinstall on their own.
>
If even that doesn't work, reflash the GAPPS zip.
BTW, shouldn't you be on CM7.2? That's the latest CM7 as far as I know.

You can only wipe data from an app trough the Apps Manager inside CM7 (that means you have to boot up your phone).
Try flashing the newest CM7.2 and the newest GAPPS for CM7.2.
If the problem persists, return your phone to the old .sbf and start all over again.

Well, I really can't boot my phone. I just can access bootloader and both recovery modes from stock and CWM (bootmenu).
Do you know how can I flash a .sbf on OS X? I know a lot of programs for Windows, and I also have found a script (sbf_flash.sh) that should work on Mac, but it seems that a lot of people are having problems in OS X (including myself).

OK. Go to CWM recovery. Wipe data. Wipe cache. Wipe dalvik.
Now install WhiteRabbit 1.8 or Maniac's CM7.2.
Flash the GAPPS packages linked in the respective threads.
Now AGAIN wipe cache and dalvik.
You should boot normally.
>
As long as you can access CWM, there's no need to reflash the SBF.

Hi,
I have just reflashed a retailer version using RSD on a friend's computer and it is now back to life... now I'm figuring out what is the best path to follow.
Thanks for the help!
Factory resetting from stock recovery messes up custom Rom!! If You are on custom rom, you have to use CWM for doing wipe etc...

[Q] Soft bricked the phone!

Hi guys,
I was running on CM10 11.18. However, wanted to switch back to CM7.2. Phone is now unable to boot up.
This is what I did.
1. Wiped Cache and data in stock recovery.
2. Wiped Cache, dalvik, data in custom recovery.
3. Installed CM7.2 and gapps
When I tried booting it up, the phone was on bootloops.
Then I picked my SEA sbf and flashed it using RDS Lite. However, problem persists. . Can anybody guide me through. I am without a phone now. Help!
You'll have to convert data to ext3.
Install cm10, in boot menu select tools then filesystem tools then convert to ext3

Have you tried to wipe data in stock recovery again? (volume down + power on)
If bootloops persist try to flash your sbf again, after flashing go to stock recovery immediately and wipe data again.

everything I try goes to bootloop or blank screen

Hi All, I can flash a rom using RSD lite and then root using super one Click, then install 2nd init. I can access the custom recovery to install new roms. I do a factory reset/wipe cache, wipe dalvik and then install a rom. After install, I do a second wipe then reboot. Everything I try goes to a bootloop or does not work. When I am in a newer recovery, I wipe the /system folder too before installing a rom. and still no dice.
Any Ideas.

Use defy full wiper or aroma wiper to wipe everything and then flash. Then immediately reboot after flashing, no wipes required.

I tried the aroma wiper but still does not boot properly Thanks for the link though, I will try to use it more and see what if I can get something to stick.

[Q] Failed to install KitKat

Hi guys. I wanted to install Kit Kat on my defy, follow instruction entered TWRP, nandroid backup, wipe everything except sdcard, install recovery, reboot and now I'm stucked in Android system recovery (3e) and dont know how to proced from here. I only have theses options:
1. Apply sdcard:update.zip
2. Wipe data/factory reset
3. wipe cache partition
Under these it says:
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/caller
E: Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
When I apply sdcard:update.zip it says Faild to open /sdcard/update.zip (No such file or directory), which is normal as my update.zip is on /sdcard/ROM/update.zip.
I also tried to wipe cache partition but nothing happened.
Could someone help me?

Thank you for answers.
@leandrolutz - It was one that Quarx built, from 02.12.13 CM.
@thekguy - I had to flash SBF, now I'm on Android 2.2.2. I'll follow your instructions. Just have one question, should I install CWM or TWRP? I follow guide, in which I installed update-recovery.zip from TWRP after wiping all date except those on sd-card. then After that, I couldnt get into new recovery. Is this right order to update to KitKat?

SBF, root, 2ndinit. Then you install CM10 (4.1), reboot, install CM10.2 (4.3), reboot, install update-recovery.zip, REBOOT (without any wipe), install CM11 (4.4).
DO you want to use ART or DALVIK? :highfive:

You will need to use twrp, the one included with the respective build. From 4.3, you should flash recovery zip, reboot without wiping, and from recovery you should be able to flash kk
There's a button dedicated to thanks

Thanks all for your help. I installed 4.3 and after that flashed recovery where I made a mistake and wipe dalvik cache after instaling (did this before yours answers):crying:. After restart, I couldnt enter twrp recovery (as soon as I enter defy restarts), only bootmenu and stock recovery from there. Luckily I havent wiped system so I still have 4.3 installed. Then I tried to install recovery from GooManager (didn't make it), stock recovery where I get message: "Failied to verify whole-file signature. Signature verification failed. Installation aborted".
Is there any way to install twrp without having to do all from the begining (sbf, root...)?
Hey guys, problems again. Didnt find way to install recovery so I decided to do all steps (sbf, root, 10.1...) again.
First I entered bootloader, connected usb, RSD lite and flashed same sbf as I did few days ago. Unlike last time, this time it wont flash, RSD did his job (erasing flash memory, flashing code group...) and when it comes to reboting, in RSD is written finished, but defy didnt turn on, not even motorola logo on screen. Take out battery, try to get into stock recovery and bootloader (volume down and up+power on), but still nothing. Then tried other sbf, 3 od them (retail French) but same thing happened every time, dead screen). Only thing that points that tel.is alive is white led that turns on when I connect it to PC.
I cant understand why 2 days ago when I flashed sbf, everything was fine and this time it refuses do complete. Only difference is that this time it was installed Android 4.3 and last time 4.2.2.
Any suggestions.
If your current sbf isn't working, try dfp 231 or a sbf newer than your current one. It should get you at least to stock recovery, from where you can wipe data and revive your defy.
From 4.3, just flash update recovery, don't wipe or flash anything else. Reboot, and enter recovery once again. Now install 4.4 and it should work
Although, that should not have occurred just by dalvik wipe. Make sure the 4.3 build you use is recent
FYI you could have fixed recovery by extracting and overwriting bootmenu folder from zip

Hey thekguy, thank you very much. I managed to revive my defy with 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE and now I'm using Android 2.3.6. I'm reading another topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1820282 where it says that after flashing 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE, it should than be flashed with rooted SBF 4.5.1-134 DFP-231 Retail.en.EU CEE Rooted SBF.
Should I also flash this second SBF or go directly to 4.3?
Thanks again.
Root with framaroot, no need for 2nd sbf
