The official Motorola Android Update page has been updated and it lists the VZW Xoom's Jelly Bean update as Q4 2012. It claims it'll be an upgrade to "Android 4.1.1" but I highly doubt that. I guarantee it'll be 4.1.2/JZO54K.
Owning a Verizon Xoom and a Verizon Galaxy Nexus is so frustrating from an update standpoint. Even though updates come directly from Google, Verizon's testing and approval requirement takes forever. We know Verizon had been testing the JRO03H ROM (the same 4.1.1 ROM that the WiFi-only model got) as far back as early August. Obviously they couldn't get it approved before 4.1.2 came out, so I'm sure now they're testing 4.1.2 instead. Regardless, assuming Verizon can't find anything to ***** about with the update, we should have it soon.
Once the update rolls out, I'll update the first post here with a link to the OTA file so we can all flash it manually and not have to wait.

Nice for Verizon users! Brazil still has no idea of what is JB lol... But why don't you root and install a Custom ROM? Or install AOSP ROM?

I don't like any of the custom ROMs available for the Xoom. They are all full of customization and features that I don't need or want. Plus I get squeamish about custom kernels written by people who have little to no documentation on the hardware. The stock ROM is simple, clean, and stable. As a daily driver, it's perfect for me. Less is more.

well, your opinion is yours opinion I prefer custom ROMS over the Stock (just don't know if will keep thinking like this after I get a HTC One X). Even Brazilian Stock ROM coming with some apps very useful (like the best file manager I used, quick office HD for free...), I think Stock ROMs are too slow and don't satisfy my personal needs of development

I am with you on ROM preference, Custom ROM run out of system space and stock don't. I turn my verizon 3g into a WiFi only for a pure jb experience. When the mood hit me I use cm10 for a custom feel.
On the bright side, we are already in the fourth quarter, so it could be any day.

Is there any ROM that works well with Xoom 4G? Every ROM I look says not to fash on a 4G Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Simple answer no.
Longer answer is that no dev is going to waste the time getting one up and running just to have ICS drop a few weeks later.
So I'd just sit tight and wait for the Ice Cream goodness to roll in.

What demecles said, no dev is going to waste there time doing a ROM that will support the 4G XOOM when ICS is right around the corner. There's a few kernels out there that will work with the 4G XOOMs but I'm not even going to bother with that, as long as I have root access, I'm all good and waiting on ICS to come out.

Good point. I didn't remember about ics but frankly I don't think we are a few weeks away. Motorola said after ics is realeased by Google they will take 6 weeks to release a final note but that the xoom will receive the update. I think it will be more like around February or so

I was aso looking for a rom for my 4g xoom and came to the same conclusion regarding ICS.
My biggest complaint since I got my xoom back from the upgrade has been battery life. I used to be able to use it for 7+ hours and be fine. Now I get only 4 hrs or so of usage. Have tried shutting off the data to no avail.
Must have something to do with the new software I guess.
Any suggestions?
Like the title says, many devices are starting to get ICS, while this Google I/O Tab 10.1 is still stuck at 3.1. Will we ever get 3.2 or even ICS.
Cant believe they just abandoned this thing.
Might move to the transformer and never come back.
Any thoughts?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Officially...yes
But you can flash any custom rom that is meant for the wifi only version if the tab and it will work fine...even the touchwiz ones
Officially? Did they say something?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
yes they did, use google you'll get an official statement...
in Canada, the 3.2 update was received not much ago, while the others had it a while ago. we'll most likely get the update after ICS...

Oops...sorry for the misunderstanding...I meant no...not officially..but you can flash a custom tom...they're pretty nice.
I've decided I'm going to sell this thing. Better get the Transformer Prime.
Am I missing something? As far as I know there has already been an official statement from samsung that ICS will come in the next months.
I bought this tablet just a month ago and my laptop hasn't been used since.

Sure, but if you're only going to use official ROMs, no need to be on XDA. XDA is for folks who use custom ROMs; we honestly don't care what the official firmwares do (except when we need the proprietary drivers for the camera.... ahem...).
You were at Google IO and are complaining about waiting for official updates? People there were rooting the tabs during sessions and the roms came quickly after that. It was free and little was said from them about supporting it during or after the event.
I would abandon mine for a quad core Sammy with the Wacom digitizer in the Note but until then I'll just keep flashing.

4.0.4 on 04/04 would have a nice ring to it. It appears like it's ready to go too. I'm just hoping that they don't wait until the Galaxy Nexus hits shelves to update the NS4G.
I'd have to admit, it would be clever; but with how much of a struggle to get ICS on NS4G has been I strongly believe its unlikely.

Actually they will care. And it isn't a "dev" phone. Google doesn't support CDMA devices any longer and the Sprint version was never considered a dev phone. Btw, there's no problem flashing stock GB on the device and locking the bootloader. You can do that in 10 minutes and take it back to Sprint.

And I know I could go back to GB but honestly I'm kinda bored of crack flashing. After a couple years of it I'm bored of backing up and restoring and doing clean installs, flashing the new new ROMs and spending more time messing with my phone than actually using it. Stock 4.0.4 meets all of my needs without having to root or mod. I'd like to see what it's like to stay on one ROM for a while. I'm sure I'll change my mind once CM9 starts adding in new features though

What persuaded you to go that route vs. the EVO LTE? I mean, Sense is way toned down with the new 4.0, and seems to not do much but enhance the experience. Just want to point out that I haven't ran a Sense ROM in about 6 months either, but the new version seems nice, and the hardware on the LTE is absolutely sick!
Anyway, I'm asking because I'm in the Nexus vs. EVO LTE vs. GSIII boat right now...

Go check the other evolte threads where scottspa quoted toastch from the twrp thread in the onex forum. HTC has forked up the unlock so badly you cannot flash firmware once unlocked, USB connection is unavailable in recovery mode so you can't flash the boot partition, system partition meaning without and exploit to gain s-off access to the bootloader the htcdev unlock is essentially useless for flashing roms/radios, any kind of p*img.zip, onlyway to flash any kind of upgrades currently is thru an ruu. HTC locking their bootloaders and giving a halfassed unlock method as some kind of joke/tease is why I currently will not purchase another HTC device. I'm not giving my money to a company who claims to support developers by giving them a halfcocked useless tool to unlock what shouldn't be locked in the firstplace. Samsung doesn't lock the bootloader they just implemented a flash count that triggers anytime you flash an unsecured kernel, its easily reset using a USB jig or if you're on ics an app called triangle away by chainfire. Rooting is as simple as running a prerooted firmware thru Odin/heimdall and Samsung is now releasing source prior to the ota and are dropping updates as quickly as they are stable. After I had a Samsung intercept as my first android device Samsung left a bad taste in my mouth and I went to the HTC evo, as if had several HTC winmo phones and liked them. Then I was given an ET4G sprints version of the sgs2 and realized how much of an improvement Samsung has made in the 2 years since I had my intercept. Now HTC goes and forks around with the monkey business of locking the bootloader then giving an unlock method thats about as useful as a broken key to your front door, so now you gotta spend alot of time and effort attempting to break in your own Backdoor with out damaging anything

I might stay stock until jellybean comes out, and I have a feeling our guys will do a pretty good port on it.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746427
I believe CM has already announced that as soon as Jelly Bean source is out (since they're already at RC status with CM9), they will stop development on CM9 and go forward with CM10.
From the CM Google+ page: Our goal is to release a stable CM 9.0.0 (and any needed .1’s). After that, we will work on CM7 and CM10 only. As stated above, CM9 devices are highly likely to get CM10, so maintaining a separate class of devices for CM9 only is inefficient.
Now back to the original post: I also miss CM9. I think CM9 is far superior to TouchWizz. Once CM9/10 is released for my GS3, I'm rooting and switching.
I will also likely never buy anything but a Nexus phone in the future, and in some ways, regret not purchasing one this time. The only saving grace is that buying a Nexus and switching to a T-Mobile Value plan would have only saved me $5 per month due to my grandfathered plan, so it's actually cheaper in the long run for me to get the GS3 on contract.
In my opinion, the galaxy s3 is way better than the nexus, even with the nexus running jelly bean.

By the time they release a CM10 for our phone the next Nexus will be out. Rumor has it Google will introduce 5 Nexus models this year. Let's hope that's true. I learned that with Android phones if you really want good rom development you need a Nexus or wait for months on end for a decent rom like CM.
