I may have stumbled across a weird bug. Just got my international Note 2 and I tried deleting a page off my homescreen I didn't need. Everytime I move the page to the recycle bin icon, it crashes touchwiz and sends me back to my home screen. Anyone else have this issue?
Yes, same here.

Try going into Settings, Applications, All, and look for Touchwiz or Launcher (not sure what it is called, been a while since I've had a Sammy lol) clear data and cache. You will loose your homescreen widgets and settings but that might help

Just tried clearing the cache through touchwiz home and it reset everything but the crash bug still persists. Oh well.

Can you download alogcat from the market, clear the log, cause the crash, pause the log. Get that output and put it on pastebin or a txt file. Let's see what's going on with the damn launcher

No, verbose includes everything. The higher the filter, the less stuff you will see (in theory). But that log hardly said anything at all.

hmmm i have notice that after changing something at settings will cause this bug. After clean install i dont have this issue, but later i get this. Somewhere i have seen that it can be because of changing something specific at developer options or changing font size/style.
Btw i had same issue on S3 JB.

hmm i've got that exactly same error too... i had it when the cam cable was loose at first, but now i am constantly getting it (maybe the cam module is completely broken?)
I've had this issue for months. I even wrote a little java camera program to test it myself and the function calls were returning a "could not acquire camera" error. 99% certain it's a hardware issue.

Have you tried clearing "Defaults" in the applications part of settings? Maybe one time you accidentally set these programs as the default app for the particular functions. Good luck!
That has happened to me I don't have to reboot.
I just tap the power button to turn the screen off and turn it back on.
And I agree about the pics.

Hi!! I have a problem, I'm currently Running Darky's 10.1 with dark core 2.6... Everything is smooth and snappy, however the system keeps killing my launcher everytime I launch an application whether it be a game, browser, news app... Whenever I exit the app the launcher reloads and it makes the phone really really slow and laggy for 10-15 seconds...
I currently using ZEAM launcher, not sure whats causing this, i've been using this launcher since its launch and only had this problem when i was on stock froyo...
Any ideas what can be done to fix this issue...
Thanks!!
Same problem here.
I am on GigerReal 7.1.3 and the worse thing is when it you try to make a phone call and the bloody thing just restarts the phone every third key pressed.
I can only call using voice calling when this happens...
I am using LauncherPro but it also happens in Ginger Launcher and TW Launcher 4.5
Just out of interest guys, how much free memory is showing for you in Settings > Applications > Running Services ?
I am running stock JVQ and although the phone works fine after initial boot (with around 180mb free) this number seems to drop over time and results in any new application clearing any other app from the memory. This even meant that if I got a text message while using the web browser and replied to it, by the time I went to return to the browser it had to reload where I was from scratch. It was also clear that after playing a game and returning to the home screen, even this was having to reload and "redraw" again.
That in itself is a minor annoyance but eventually it seemed to get so bogged down the whole system froze with the "black screen of death" and I had to do a forced reboot. I'm aware, of course, that JVQ is not an official release so it's not fair to be too harsh on Samsung here...
I seem to have a lot of memory free. It happens after the phone has been up for some time.
I noticed that launcher pro was reloading the widgets every time it starts. Also i seem to notice that it happens when you dial a couple of numbers and it starts giving you suggestions from the contacts. So it could be contact related?

This is the same that happens on my system... The launcher just reloads all the widgets everytime I close an application... the amount of ram is always close to 243/337.. So its close to 90-100 mb free, which is enough i suppose... Still the launcher just reloads everytime an app is closed... Its really getting annoying...
basicly you must set HOME_APP_ADJ to 0 making home app unkillable =)
am not sure but probably do that
/data/local.prop -> add such line ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0
and restart - have not tested just pure theory (the .prop location)

Actually, putting the value as 1 worked better for me. My launcher so far has not been killed even once.
ya 1 should work flawlesly
0 is making it bulletproof/unkillable at any state
but 1 should be safest value
I think Spare Parts allows you to adjust the task killer's sensitivity. Maybe have a play with that and relax the settings.

Attached is an APK which adds that line. Make sure you're rooted first. I wrote it in the past 10 minutes, so it's very simple and might crash, but it did work for me.
Just install it, launch it, confirm root and then watch out for a small message. If successful it will directly ask you to uninstall it. Reboot, and done.
there is also ro.HOME_APP_MEM that can be changed to 4096
to follow other oom_adj=1 settings =)

Try changing the lowmemoty killer setting to something less aggressive. Your phone is trying to keep too much free memory so has to kill off apps.
Download Galaxy Tuner (using memory manaber option)and set the application cache values to the new samsung default as follows:-
fa=10 MB
va=16 MB
ss=20 MB
ha=24 MB
cp=28 MB
ea=32 MB
Make a note of your current settings in case it doesnt help.
You can also use Galaxy Tuner to set JEWE's file system cache
, settings are:-
SWP: 50
VCP: 10
DEC: 5
DWC: 10
DRA: 90
DBR: 5
These work well for me so give them a whirl, you can always put the values back to where they are now.
mate the problem is solved already - please read dont spam those juwe crappy values ok ?

You're both welcome. That's what [helping out] XDA is for after all
Phone info:
Verizon
Galaxy S5
Android 4.4.2
Stock ROM
Rooted with towelroot
My S5 audibly started telling me the time every 5-10 minutes and I can't figure out how to turn it off. The other day it started to download a female English tts voice file from Samsung. I canceled the download and ever since then, sometimes every 5 minutes, it audibly tells me the time in British accent female voice. It does not notify me of anything else by voice such as incoming calls or text messages. The phone also beeps 3 times before it tells me the time, 2 lower pitched and one higher pitched beep. I was also getting a pop up telling me to "Download high quality voice file" from the Samsung Play Store every time it would start. I finally downloaded it and then deleted it but nothing changed.
Things I've tried that didn't work:
Looked at tts settings but couldn't find anything to change.
I found car docking was running and froze it.
Is there an app that logs everything that would allow me to track this down?
Anyone have any ideas?

maybe uninstalling any recently added apps will narrow it down.
Only thing I can see is notification reminder beep in accessibility settings.
You can set it to beep a reminder for uncleared notifications.
Or dirty flash your rom to reset things.

I forgot to post back. I did finally figure it out. It was a setting in the app "AndroiTS GPS Test Free". There are several settings for voice messages and one "Enable voice messages for time" was checked. I don't know if that was the default setting or if I had changed it at some point. Anyway, I unchecked the box and all is well now!

Hi all
I've just upgraded to Pie this week on my Note 9, and wish I hadn't. Apart from various annoying bugs, the biggest issue I have right now is that the mod to remove the volume limiter using Tasker no longer seems to work.
It didn't work straight after the upgrade, so I reapplied the steps using this guide (https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-automatically-disable-the-high-volume-warning-without-root/)
But doesn't work.
Does anybody have any suggestions please? It's driving me nuts. Thanks

So curious, where is it failing? Do you get any toast pop up notification?
I'm really happy you asked this, as I followed the link and set this up on oreo, but I want to be able to get it working on pie as well once I have the update.
The things I would check:
The ADB commands, connect and send them again, yes if not working, send even again, again.
Did you get the settings for AutoTools all set, there was one that I missed until I tried to run it, then it gave a warning.
The author posts a picture of the final set-up, did you double check that all that matches?
Is it possible we would need to re-install AutoTools and re-set all it's privileges?
So I've discovered the following.
The Tasker script is working. When examining the variable at boot, the safe_audio_limit is set at 3. Tasker then manages to change to a value of 2. But when you try to increase volume on a Bluetooth headset it still asks for permission
After that, it seems to work, until the next reboot
So my conclusion is that there is a new variable that needs setting at.boot time in conjunction with the safe_audio_limit value.
More investigation required.
Super easy fix is grabbing Samfix on XDA Labs.

Are you sure? That thread says otherwise.
Plus I don't like apps that don't check for available root, but ask for adb root privileges. That's just sloppy
