Hi, you can use this program: http://www.piriform.com/recuva or a similar one (Read about them, try them all) (Mounting your phone as mass storage)
Or search Google and try everything! (Ok, not EVERYTHING, just things that make sense in a trusted webpage...)
Best Luck

Firstly, take the SD card out of your phone so that the deleted files don't get overwritten by anything installed.
Then use some non-destructive data recovery tools (Google) to search and undelete the mp4 files.
If that fails you can always pay a professional data recovery service.
But don't use the SD card for anything else in the meantime.

Yeah. Get it out of your phone. Your data is recoverable so long as something isnt over written onto it. Else you're going to need some FBI level recovery to remove newly written data and separate it from your sons birthday cake.
Please ask all questions in the Q&A section. Thread moved there.

Good lad. You're learning!
I am having the same problem with removing an old gmail account from the previous owner of the phone. After you deleted the data file, how did you get your internet/3g working again? I'm afraid to delete it before I know what to do afterward to make sure everything works when running android. I think I have the nexus one version on my hd2. Thank you.

Ok, so I installed Droidsail to try and move my large games to SD card on my S4 to free up some space.
It didnt work, so I uninstalled it. before I uninstalled it I had changed a setting to 'install new apps on SD card'
Now I'm getting an error: Insufficient Storage Available whenever I try to update or install an app.
This includes trying to re-install Droidsail to fix the setting.
I also tried to install Rom Toolbox, and I successfully installed that!
But superuser is out of date so I cant use it to change the setting
Cant update superuser... see error above.
So does anyone know a way to install an app completely manually? Not involving clicking 'install' at all? or another fix?
Can you flash to stock?

Go to the development section and use the search function to find the stock factory ROM and directions to install it. I also suggest you take a lot more time to learn about Android (and the S4 in general) before you do anything else. Good luck.

I could be an idiot, but it appears that there is no stock rom yet for AT&T s4?

8 minutes between my suggestion of going to the development section and searching you replying you couldn't find it isn't a very good attempt.
However, you need to restore your phone to the original factory firmware that is supplied by Samsung for the AT&T S4 (i337). There most definitely is a complete thread about this in the Development section. Take a little time and you might find it. I'm not trying to be mean, but if you are not willing to take a little time to look for information and learn about your phone you are only going to screw it up worse.
I doubt you are an idiot (as you stated you might be), I just think you need to learn a little about how these phones work before you end up with a really expensive brick. Good luck.
Try Kies (just as bad an app as iTunes lol)

Yep I would just try this if you can't do ADB or anything like that. Or just go to settings > Accounts > Reset.
I'm about to destroy my phone and go back to iPhone 5 because that didn't constantly make me want to destroy everything around me.
I wanted to side-load an app. I just unlocked my bootloader and rooted it and was re-installing my apps.
When I go to install an app it says that there is no more space. the file is 4.85mb and I have 12GB of storage left.
I tried:
-Re-booting
-Installing other apps (which works)
-Clearing the cache
-Downloading Trail from PlayStore (I get the same result)
NEW:
-When plugged in via USB to my PC, device doesn't show up under "Computer" [Running Windows 7 x64)
What I did:
I backed up my phone and wiped the whole thing because I was running out of time last night
Thankfully Foxnov1990 and ImbaWind's tips worked. I restored the original backup and it solved my problem. Thanks so much! Love ya guys! :victory:
AFAIK my friend and I don't have this problem with our N4 and my friends don't have this problem with their GNEX.

I get the attitute, but you might wanna at least try to be friendlier as we're just here to help.
But On-Topic: have you tried this?
File explorer (app)
Go to /data/app (in System (root))
Del this line
com.maxmpz.audioplayer-1.odex
I've had it before that on stock ROM (aka unlocked bootloader and rooted) which means that it's not DEodexed that some Odex files were left behind. Which means that whatever you try, as long as that file is there, you won't be able to install the app. (shouldn't happen but it's possible in rare occasions)
Hope it helped.
If it didn't help and the Odex file is not there, see if you have Lucky Patcher installed, deinstall it (it sometimes holds on to odex files), and try installing PowerAmp now. Then reinstall Lucky Patcher

Honestly, I have installed and deinstalled the app more than you can possibly imagine... and I've nearly never had issues with reinstalling.
And when I did get issues it was Lucky Patching (having patched the app) that was holding on to the odex and I couldn't delete it till Lucky patcher was deinstalled.
So not sure what **** you mean but there was always an easy solution for me

Oh yep, always happen when I use lucky patcher to removed the app's ads !
I've run into a similar issue before.
I've had similar issues when I've removed an .apk using adb or root explorer without removing its associated .odex file.
Use root explorer and try to find an .odex file that has the same name as the package that you are having trouble installing.
There are some cache cleaning utilities in the Play store that might assist you as well.

Good luck. Also, try to approach asking for help in a more mature manner in the future. You are not entitled to hack a device then complain when something unexpected happens.

My files were deleted without my attention with no ability to recover from a cloud (they were deleted before they synced).
I found a good app to recover deleted files - it's called Dumpster. But if I only had that app installed on my nexus before that, it would do its job.
Recuva won't work with eMMC, afaik. I'm out of ideas. Any solutions?
P.S. Would be great, if the gallery app (or the android itself) woudn't actually delete things, but store them in a reserved space (with versioning and all these things) to recover them later.

I'm not understanding what you're saying I guess. How did the files disappear?
I let all of my images auto upload to Google+, and then delete the non important ones from there. You didn't have auto upload turned on?
I think he is saying that people had his phone (friends, family, whoever) & deleted files/pictures & nothing was set to sync to any type of cloud service. Therefore, the files are gone, permanently deleted. He goes on to say that it would be rather helpful/useful if, when files are deleted, they aren't permanently deleted, rather, they go to a different place, so to speak, so that they are recoverable unless chosen to permanently delete.
Further, it seems this person has found an app to do just that, however it needs to be installed prior to deleting them in order to recover them.

For other people who are looking for an answer: I don't think you can. Android 4.3 (and up) have TRIM auto enabled. What that means is that the OS automatically informs the storage that certain blocks are unused and ready for garbage collection, so the possibility of recovery with TRIM enabled is low.
Plz need some help. Done a nandroid restore and tried a tb restore but still getting the same problem. Applicstions are disapearing and where the app icon was its still thier but in grey. If you had sd card and it was going bad, then I could imagine apps that install partially to sd card get corrupted and stop working. There should be
LOST DIR folder, if anything is there, those are lost and later recovered file fragments. You would need at least reformat the card, possibly replace it. If that's not the case then I have no idea.
Yes my external sd is corrupt. Cant add or delete anything from it. I contacted sandisk and they will replace it in a weeks time. So that must be the problem then?
