If you had sd card and it was going bad, then I could imagine apps that install partially to sd card get corrupted and stop working. There should be
LOST DIR folder, if anything is there, those are lost and later recovered file fragments. You would need at least reformat the card, possibly replace it. If that's not the case then I have no idea.
Yes my external sd is corrupt. Cant add or delete anything from it. I contacted sandisk and they will replace it in a weeks time. So that must be the problem then?

Have you tried to wipe the marked data from application settings? Don't know if it's going to help, but it's no harm in trying
Does it give you an error message when it gets to the install process? You could try unmounting the SD card temporarily before you try installing apps, this solved the only problem I've had installing apps from the Market.

Settings - applications - all aplications, locate marked and wipe all the data. Next time you start marked you should have to agree with terms as you did the first time.
Tried that mate, still not working

I've had this happen in the past and the only way I could get around this issue was to delete the file 'Smdl2tmp1.asec'
To do this, connect your phone to a PC and use Windows Explorer to search for the file. You will need to set Windows Explorer to read hidden files for it to find this file.
Hope this works for you too.

If the apps download but don't install you can install them manually. Using any file manager head to /cache/download , here you will see all the apps you tried installing recently. They don't have useful names but the icons should help you remember what they are.
Find the package and install it manually.

Right I sorted it. I took out the sd card and it installed it for some reason

this has happened many times in the last few days. I uninstall an app, then tried to reinstall an apk version, then it would tell me there is insufficient storage, and give me the options to go to 'manage apps' or cancel. Even if I tried to go back to the market to reinstall the app, it would tell me there is insufficient storage. However storage is not the problem, as i do still have a lot left, and i can install other apps no problem.
is there some place i can go to that wipes all traces of the app in my memory first? I was eventually allowed to reinstall another app after a while, but i dont know what was the solution. Now another app is not letting me reinstall and it's annoying.
i have already shut down and restart my tablet. i've also check the manage app place and it was no longer there. any help?

Yesterday as I was trying out games that were compatible with my new bluetooth controller, I tried downloading The Dark Knight Returns (since it was a compatible game and I had purchased it when it was on sale some months back on the Play store). Well, apparently I did not have enough space to install the game unfortunately. So when it seemed as if it was near it's finish downloading, there was an error message that was on the status bar that let me know I did not have enough space. So the file did not finish downloading or installing. When I exited the install, i noticed that the storage space error was still present. So I restarted the phone. Still had the same error message and very minimal storage available when I checked the internal storage. I cleared the cache of the Play store, tried clearing dalvic cache on Titanium (wasn't sure if that'd work) and also looked in Root File Explorer for any files that may have been installed by the game. Couldn't find any files so I was unsure where they were located, but the storage was still low. I uninstalled one more app, went back to the play store, tried to continue installing, and it finished install this time. Then I quickly deleted the game and my storage space was back to normal. My question is this. Is there any way in the future where I can delete this data without having to complete an install? I am rooted on JB 2.1.1. I have Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, and some other tools. This storage error has happened on a couple different occasions and I'm wondering if there is still some partially downloaded app data still on the phone somewhere using up space. I have been unsuccessful in my search for an answer to what seems to be a fairly simple problem, but then again maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Any help would be great!
Thought this would be an easy one that somebody would have solved. No?

I would assume its partial download data... No idea how to fix it other than guesstimating your free space and how much the app needs tho...
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going to try to do that, but my estimation of available space is not always correct since some apps require more space than necessary to install. I'm referring more to what has already been done so that I can remove anything that may currently be partially installed or downloaded.

I've done searches and I can't find anything on it.
I'm trying to install ROM toolbox pro, something I've bought a long time ago, and I get that error and it doesn't install. How can I fix this?

Why this has not been fixed i do not know.
There are one of two problems that i know of that cause this.
1- there's some sort of remnant of a previous install still on your device and it won't install over the old files.
Find the folder and delete it or all the contents.
2- Something is screwy with the playstore app or google play services.
(going from memory here) clear cache of both apps and reset to factory versions. (you may have to clear data as well)
Visiting the play store will update the app again and things should work. you may need to restart your device.
This has been a problem since at least 2.2. I can't imagine a casual user is going to want to do the work to fix this very often if at all.
I'll have to check it out when I get home, I can't really do it at work

Worked! Thank you. I deleted the folder related to the app in data/data while in recovery. Installed fine

There are other apps in the applications Manager under the Downloaded Apps that are labelled not installed. I have tried removing them but to no success, I have even tried deleting some of their files from root\data\app and data\app-lib but the apps still exist as black icons still labeled NOT INSTALLED (See the attached Image). How do I remove them. Help Please
[EDIT] I have now noticed that every app I uninstall is added to that list and labelled "Not Installed". If you tap the Application, in storage details:
Total..................8.51MB (Size Depending on App)
Application.........8.51MB
SD Card app......0.00B
Data..................0.00B
SD card data......0.00B
Cache................0.00B
Its practically saying the app has been uninstalled but has left its APK and other junk in the phone.
Help on How to remove all these apps manually by deleting some files or any other method.
[EDIT 2] I solved my problem by using an app from Developer Dark3n from this post

If its on one of your applications pages, simply hold it and slide to the top to "app info" from there you can uninstall the app.
If you hold and slide to uninstall it wont do anything (had this issue before)

You need to download/install Titanium Backup from the playstore
and click MENU button and select "Destroy Market Links".
Reboot the phone and it will not longer display "not installed" apps.
Good luck!

I checked Titanium Backup but isnt that option supposed to unlink all apps from the Market, what about the Apps that I still want connected to Market?
I tried it but it didn't work, tried clean Davlik Cache via Titanium Backup but still the problem exists.

It only un-links apps temporarily then starts all over again linking only
those apps which which are installed.

I get this for a few apps whenever something happened to a hidden folder on my SD card named something along the lines of Android_Secure. (something with secure.)
You can't see the folder on the phone, you need to use a pc to see it.
I have no apps installed on my SD, but when anything happens to that folder, about 20 apps stop working and say 'not installed'.
