I have a myTouch 4G that's stuck in the boot loader.
Yes I've tried the PD15IMG.zip and it works and updates, but after it reboots, it just goes back into the fast boot screen and I can't select anything. The volume and power buttons are unresponsive.
Even if I get into the actual boot loader I can't select anything, the volume buttons do not let me select.
Please help!

No. If they were, I wouldn't be able to get into boot loader if I press it. And also, I was able to move them when I had to select yes to update.

I does not let me select anything, UNLESS there is an update on the SD card, in which case, volume up confirms the update.

Should have added /sarcasm for clarity
OP, your problem is clearly stated above - VolDown is stuck. And you need to press VolUp for answer "YES" to update - this is why you've been able to execute it.

No. Then when it asks for the update, pressing volume down CANCELS the update just like it should.

Hi all,
I've got an HTC Dream with ADP 1.1 firmware installed on it. I would like to flash it with another image. When I try to fastboot it by pressing the camera/power or back/power buttons, nothing happens. The phone just boots normally. That way, I can't do anything.
Please help me.
Which Bootloader do u have installed of the 4 that are available?
press home+power to boot into recovery mode...!!!

I thought he was talking about bootloader mode which is different from the recovery.
He wanted to flash images so he's using the SPL. U can access the SPL normally using camera+end unless you updated to the new Sapphire SPL in which case I am not sure if you use the same key combo to access that one. I thought it had something to do w/ the trackball.
Thanks for your replies!

You need to hold down the modifier button (Home or Back) when you press the power button. Keep holding it for a couple of seconds or until it boots into recovery/bootloader.

Cheers, that worked! I'm a real nitwit
Hi everybody,
This is my first post here and I seriously hope someone can help me.
I unlocked my phone and was attempting to root it and flash Cyanogen's MOD. I flashed Armon_RA's recovery image into recovery partition using fastboot, but when I try to access it I'm getting an image of an android with a warning sign, which I can't post yet because I'm a newbie and mod's have to check my account... Once there the only thing I can do is remove the battery.
I've downloaded Armon_RA's img twice and from different sources and the same thing happens.
In terms of what I did, I tried to follow a step-by-step guide at androidandme.com, combined with Cyanogen's official Wiki.
I appreciate any kind of help,
Thanks!
BTW I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, in case it helps.
Took me like 4 times to flash the recovery before I got the care bear screen. Just keep flashing!
I just got it working right now and was about to post it had been fixed.
Thanks anyway!
Sorry for undigging this thread, but this thread is the first one which shows up when I searched for "android recovery warning".
I have spent the entire day trying to fix my Nexus One's recovery (I got stuck on the screen with a warning sign as well), with no success. Trust me, I tried (almost) everything possible to flash a new recovery/restore stock recovery.
What did work, though, was running fastboot flash recovery recovery.img 5 times in a row (remember to boot your phone in fastboot mode before sending these commands). That did the trick, and now I'm able to boot in recovery mode (Clockworkmod, by the way).
Thanks!

So how can I do a hard reset from this stock recovery when there's no menu commands, how do you use the stock recovery?
I have an unrooted S On nexus one that I need to hard reset because it boot loops for some reason, but didn't want to have to root it.

Push the power button and volume up buttons at the same time
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Two buttons together ...
It is a common misconception that you have to push two buttons at the same time to activate some features. Trying to push them at exactly the same time is hit and miss and causes people to have issues.
In every case the combination is always hold one button down and then click the other button once ... much easier than clicking both together.
In this case I believe the combo is hold down power and then click Volume-Up once. (I may have it reversed).

It most likely is reversed. At least when you want to access the bootloader you want to hold down the volume down button (or maybe it is either volume button) and then turn on the phone. And with fastboot, you hold down the trackball as you turn on the phone.
I believe the volume up and powerbutton at the same was to "ok" the phone to apply an update.zip that was stored on the card (I remember doing that when I was running the Froyo build leaks from google).

OzCDN is correct, it is: hold down the power button and press volume up (the reverse does not work), but pushing them both together still works
I'm not sure what happened to my friends phone but apparently it just resetted out of no where and is stuck in fastboot i think i forget which one... The one with less option.
the keys don't work.i can't click on any options with power nor move with arrow keys.
I thought I'll just load up the pd15img and it'll be good. But nope screen is stuck at fastboot without any changes.
It is s-off but 86 bootloader idk why it's not 85 but whatever.
I think it might be bricked. I'm going to see if adb detects it later tonight. If it can are there any ways to fix it?

hm well, sounds like the volume buttons are broken, that's why it always reboots into the bootloader, the phone thinks that the volume down button is pressed in. what if you connected it to computer and type?
Code:
fastboot reboot

Oh wow, noticed that my reply didn't go through.
anyways quick update. Fixed it. it wasn't the volume button. volume button would lead to hboot i think. this went straight to fastboot. I imagine it has something to do with his back button (was working, stopped working when this happened, i fixed it somehow idk)
but anyways for future reference if you get stuck at fastboot and you can't move it
Click HOME, this enables your keys
go to recovery and flash a rom.
oh i wanted to add, for some reason, his phone was like wiped clean. no os or rom. so i had to flash him a new one.

thanks, but the home button do not enable the buttons for me
This can be caused by a stuck VolumeDown button, and in this case the Home button won't help.
Hi,
I got the same problem with my HTC Desire Z, when I turn it on, it run on fastboot and no keys respond so I'm unable to boot the phone.
If I turn it on with Vol down button hold, the phone boot on the Hboot screen and the keys don't work on this screen too...
Unfortunately, this happen yesterday night... and since this yesterday morning, the home button of my device broke down... It sounds like I'm f**ked...
Is there a way to pass througt fastboot by using the adb ? (I'm not sure my device will be recognized byt adb on fastboot mode...)
Thanks

I've used the search function by looking for no keys responding on fastboot screen and that bring me here, in this case, nevermind the device, problem is the same.
It should be a stuck button, but I can access to fastboot or hboot depending on pressing the Vol Down button or not. Maybe the problem come from the not working center button of the Desire Z, I'll try it.

You can always reflash factory images as long as you can get to fastboot...download the Nexus 7 Toolkit and it will make it really easy for you.

Those of you that have Google drive and the latest update, you qualify for an additional 50 GB of storage. If you have drive already installed and aren't receiving the 50 additional GB, clear drive data and then re-run it to receive the bonus.

Hold down power and up for a few seconds then let go off power and it'll bring up the menu. It can be finicky so if you happen to reboot try again. When you get to the menu it'll allow you to flash update file
after you select recovery and you get the exclamation its not picky just hit volume up by its self and then power button right after you hit volume up with volume up still pressed in and it will instantly go in every time . It just likes you to hit volume up key before power key

Trust me I don't have posts on the forum but I've done this since the original droid. Vol down and volume gets you to fastboot like you said. If you have stock recovery it gives you the android with ! which is what you want. At that screen you have to do what bluh5d posted. If that still isn't working then you'd have to rsd lite back to stock. The android ! IS what you want to see.
