i need to send my hd2 back for repair but unfortunately i can't get into the bootloader! volume up / down buttons do work when im in windows mobile, but when the phone is switched off, i press volume down + power button once and the phone just boots into windows mobile.
is there any other way to restore your phone to the stock spl?
You need to press Vol UP and PowerOn, not Vol Down

On my device it is PowerOn and VolDown. But I have to press and hold the VolDown button till the device is in bootloader mode.
Best regards
Pitchbend,
Taken from one of the many tutorials on here...
"*Go into BootLoader Mode (turn off phone, then press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear)".
Do make sure you are pressing the volume down button hard enough AND for long enough.
Cheers

tried it but still doesnt go into bootloader mode... i have managed to go into bootloader mode before (with several htc phones i have owned), but i think something is broken this time (my hardware sendbutton also is not working any more, that is the reason why i need to return the phone).

Try running the attached EnterBootloader.exe from your HD2 (unzip, move .exe to phone, run).

Sorry then, Vol UP has been my other phone I haven't flashed the HD2 via SD Card yet.
I just can think that you do not press the Vol DOWN button hard enough or long enough. You have to press and hold the Vol DOWN button and switch on the phone, then lift the power button while still holding the Vol DOWN button.

thank you, with this file it went into bootloader mode, but somehow my hardware-buttons seem to be broken (in win mobile all of them beside the send-button work), when it says "Press power buutton to start update image", I press the power button, but nothing happens!
I guess thats it, no chance to restore SPL and no chance for warranty any more .

Hmm, very weird.
The actual keys are obviously ok - they're just not handled while in bootloader. I'm not sure what exactly is responsible for that, I assume it's not the OS, so perhaps SPL or Radio?
Not sure if it would make any difference, but perhaps you can try reflashing the HSPL (or maybe a different radio?).

when its asking to install the rom (in bootloader) hold down volume up (or whatever key it asks you to press to install) REALLY HARD,
another suggestion, take off the back, the buttons seem easier to press when the back battery cover it off
maybe this will work
1. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Security > Factory reset.
2. Enter “1234 ” and then tap Yes.
Ooops!
If your power button does not work it will be impossible to flash from SD card and this is the only way top reflash a stock rom = the only way to uninstall HSPL.
But if this is the power button, then how do you already power up your device ??? Is this your reason to send it to the repair?
You seem stuck in a button my friend...

it is a real wierd problem, i can switch the phone on with the power button and when it is turned on, all keys work beside the talk(send) button. but i can not go into bootloader mode and power button / volume down button to confirm / cancel update when entering bootloader mode with bootloader.exe don't work.
you should really try to reflash radio and hspl again. if you can power on the device the hardwarebutton must work. looks like a software problem...
have you check that you vol down button is working? it happen to me before,
maybe you could contact the hspl maker if he can help you? i have in my mind that he could "hack" the procedure to NOT ask for SEND key press?
Thanks for all your replies. I left the phone off for about 4 hours charging. I switched it on press the vol down button and it worked! How weird / lucky. So I flashed a new rom and I am working again.
Thank you so much for you time.
One last thing though, now in WinMo the vol up and vol down work and the power button work. But the other 4 hardware keys don't, they just force the phone into vibrate/silent mode. When I get a phone call it also turns the volume down/off/vibrate.
Maybe a hardware failure?
Matt
Hi everybody,
This is my first post here and I seriously hope someone can help me.
I unlocked my phone and was attempting to root it and flash Cyanogen's MOD. I flashed Armon_RA's recovery image into recovery partition using fastboot, but when I try to access it I'm getting an image of an android with a warning sign, which I can't post yet because I'm a newbie and mod's have to check my account... Once there the only thing I can do is remove the battery.
I've downloaded Armon_RA's img twice and from different sources and the same thing happens.
In terms of what I did, I tried to follow a step-by-step guide at androidandme.com, combined with Cyanogen's official Wiki.
I appreciate any kind of help,
Thanks!
BTW I'm on Ubuntu 9.10, in case it helps.
Took me like 4 times to flash the recovery before I got the care bear screen. Just keep flashing!
I just got it working right now and was about to post it had been fixed.
Thanks anyway!
Sorry for undigging this thread, but this thread is the first one which shows up when I searched for "android recovery warning".
I have spent the entire day trying to fix my Nexus One's recovery (I got stuck on the screen with a warning sign as well), with no success. Trust me, I tried (almost) everything possible to flash a new recovery/restore stock recovery.
What did work, though, was running fastboot flash recovery recovery.img 5 times in a row (remember to boot your phone in fastboot mode before sending these commands). That did the trick, and now I'm able to boot in recovery mode (Clockworkmod, by the way).
Thanks!

So how can I do a hard reset from this stock recovery when there's no menu commands, how do you use the stock recovery?
I have an unrooted S On nexus one that I need to hard reset because it boot loops for some reason, but didn't want to have to root it.

Push the power button and volume up buttons at the same time
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Two buttons together ...
It is a common misconception that you have to push two buttons at the same time to activate some features. Trying to push them at exactly the same time is hit and miss and causes people to have issues.
In every case the combination is always hold one button down and then click the other button once ... much easier than clicking both together.
In this case I believe the combo is hold down power and then click Volume-Up once. (I may have it reversed).

It most likely is reversed. At least when you want to access the bootloader you want to hold down the volume down button (or maybe it is either volume button) and then turn on the phone. And with fastboot, you hold down the trackball as you turn on the phone.
I believe the volume up and powerbutton at the same was to "ok" the phone to apply an update.zip that was stored on the card (I remember doing that when I was running the Froyo build leaks from google).

OzCDN is correct, it is: hold down the power button and press volume up (the reverse does not work), but pushing them both together still works
Hi,
i forgot to update HSPL before installing MAGLDR and i have white screen with green htc logo. Phone is no detectet by PC.
Any suggestions? Can I fix this at home?
Thanks,
Ficu
You should be able to enter bootloader. Power off , hold vol down press power button, release power button(keep the vol down pressed).
If you can enter bootloader the rest should be easy.

Hi, I have a Galaxy S4 i9505 running TWRP 3.0.2-0 jfltexx. I am having a problem where TWRP won't boot up when using the key combination of Volume UP + Home + Power, it will show up with the Galaxy S4 screen then at the top left corner it will show kernel not seandroid enforcing, recovery booting. Then it will boot to a black screen and then after 3 seconds it will vibrate and boot into android like it normally does. However on Flashify (Android App for flashing) I click the 'Reboot to Recovery' Button it boots into TWRP and it runs like a charm.
Android is running completely fine, stock 5.0.1.
Help will be appreciated.
UPDATE : SOLVED, Thanks to @QueryVillain
Solution :
1) Volume up + Power button while device is off
2) As soon as you see something in upper left corner, release both buttons and you will be booted to recovery
Try TWRP 2.87 to see if you still have the same problem.

Sorry for the late reply, but ok i'l try it out.
The actual key combo is volume up + power button. Home button is not necessary.

I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0 and i'm having the exact same issue, just a black screen then about 3 to 5 seconds in, it will vibrate and show Galaxy S4 screen and boot to android.
Similar behaviour started to happen to me after flashing new bootloader via ODIN, but instead of booting to Android, my phone just turns off. At first I thought recovery got overwritten, but I still could boot into it from Android restart menu
What works for me:
1) Volume up + Power button while device is off
2) As soon as you see something in upper left corner, release both buttons and you will be booted to recovery

Normally, while trying to get into recovery, you hold the buttons until it vibrates and then release.
If you don't release the buttons (the power button especially), the phone will turn off at some point.

Hello everyone. Huawei P9 Lite 2016. It doesn't go into Recovery, nor eRecovery and Fastboot also does not load, in general, not one combination of buttons does not work. I think the system is removed, what should I do? How do I achieve something myself?
Well, if your phone is unable to go into fastboot (hold volume- and plug it into a computer), I have some very bad news for you... What did you do??

Nothing at all.. It had very strong lags, I couldn't make anything, I restarted it delaying the power button for 10 seconds and so several times, and then made through the buttons hard reset, performed successfully, already turned on but still had so strong lags and now it isn't react at all, just a black screen and the red indicator is constantly on. I think that simply the system has been deleted and it is necessary to write down again, but how, the combination of buttons doesn't work at all

Yes. It makes nothing. Black screen and red indicator always.
Do you still have warranty on it? If you did not even unlock bootloader, then try to send it in for a warranty repair. Something on the motherboard must have gone bad..
