well, my defy has 20 months now, never had a problem until today that my screen started to show dead pixels (I guess)
check the pics and tell me what you think
I've downloaded 3 dead pixel checkers, but they didn't repair it
What should I do? get a new screen?

u may find my reply a bit crazy :cyclops:.... but it works...
wrap the phone in plastic , put the duct tape , keep in freezer for 18 hours (screen side down) ,
after 18 hours put the phone in rice bowl for 5-6 hours...
and voilla ... all dead pixels will be gone....
source: i know 2 people that did this successfully,..,,

i know..
but just try it .,,,,... it will work..
ok, I'll wait a couple of days because the middle part of the screen is going back to normal
I hope the rest will do the same in the next hours.
If that doesn't happen, I'll do the ninja freezer stuff :silly:
would it be better if I desamble the phone and freeze the screen only? I'm afraid It won't resist.
It will resist, many people tried it out and ive hear of no one who got a broken phone after this
But make sure that you put your battery simcard and micro sd out
I did it!!! And it worked perfectly!! Thanks a lot!!!

I know this thread is pointless but I just had to let go of some pains
Took my morning dump this morning. After the victory I got up and my sgs2 thought it would be a good idea to jump out of my pocket and join my swimming friends
Is a bag of rice still the best option?? I pulled it out really quick however, its not powering on even after 3-4 hours of drying...
Also, luckily I was due for a new phone with Fido and had alot of unused "fido dollars" to cover the cost of any phone i chose. I played around with the GNex and I cant for the life of me, figure out how that phone compares to the sgs2 in anything-that includes screen! Even at full brightness it simply isnt as bright.
Got a white iphone 4s still sealed in the box already posted on kijiji for $600.00
Looking for some good prices for an sgs2 right now.
That's pretty ****ty.

Never power it on after it's gone swimming. Just put it in a bag of rice and let it dry for about a week or so. I had an iPhone 3GS that was completely under water for about an hour and after a month in a bag of rice, it turned on without any issues, other than that the backlight of the LCD was dead.
hehehe, no ****!

ahhh gutted for you mate other than an iphone 4s there isnt really much choice out there if your looking for a powerhouse smartphone
i purchased the iphone 4s with the intention of selling it. A sealed iphone 4s still sells for $580 and up. Want to use the money for a new sgs2. Good thing is, i was one of the unfortunate few to purchase the slightly handicapped camera version. Going to look out for that.
I wont lie, i am tempted to try the 4s out but that screen just needs to be much bigger. Dont want to crack the seal.
Do yourself a favor, get a waterproof case for your next phone.
I see SGS2's around here going for 400 or so. I'll trade you mine for a GNEX hahah

lol thank you very much for the helpfull ideas ladies and gents. Turns out, samsung made a well built phone
Its working, though the touchscreen is not nearly as sensitive as before and the camera has fog on the other side of it. But i have a feeling a nice nap in the rice bag overnight will do the trick.

If you're thinking of having sushi later make sure you don't use that, as it'd be a whole different kind of sticky-rice.
lol. yea. the phone is definitely going to be spending some time in the cleaning process afterwards! Now, what to do about the new iphone 4s and contract i signed. Take the cash for the iphone 4s now, or go back to the store and cancel the contract agreement to use for later......
Mate the htc sensation is very close in most aspects to the sgs2 with the exception of nand memory. User reviews recon its made stronger and the screen shows colour better.
As for the iphone sell it and get sim converted to normal one.

Well I dun goof'd this time really badly. It fell in a "bowl" of water and I quickly managed to pull it out. The phone was still on, working as usual, except I noticed that the battery started charging itself LOL. Like it had the electricity symbol on it. Anyways, I quickly took out battery, SIM card, opened up the USB port, took off the MicroSD and I noticed they're all pretty wet, wiped them along with the battery and the back of the phone but I still think there is some moisture left inside so I'm hoping everything will go good tomorow after i wait 24 hours for it to dry out.
What keeps me calm is that it was working still while wet so that makes me think it'll still turn on once fully dried. Hell, my cousin's home had a flood and his computer was on the floor, he didn't turn it on for about a week and once he got the courage, his computer started without a problem and so far no motherboard issues or anything of the sort.
Has anyone had such situation like me? If so, did you little SGY survive or it died of drowning?
I left a water bottle and my phone was next to it ^^ and i accidently droped it on my phone and it has been wet all night xD...
When i woke up it was full of water and it didnt turn on... And i took everything out and 10 hours later put it back in and it booted
U were luckey ur phone didnt crash ^^
Battery charging itself XD
In the worst case scenario something will blow up in ur phone cuz on sudden contact with watef

Thanks for the reply, that sure is a relief. Another method I just learned off the internet is to put it deep in a bowl of rice and that is what I'm gonna do. Gonna leave it for 24 hours. Wish me luck
Still, if anyone has similar stories please share.

So i was playing table tennis earlier today .. when i stopped , i decided to check my messages on my phone , but it wasnt working . The phone itself worked allright , the controls too but the touchscreen wasnt working at all .
I googled and found that moisture can damage the digitizer... as a desperate attempt i filled a bowl with rice and dropped the phone right =(
God have mercy on my phone
By any chance, have you tried rebooting it before doing said steps?
Yes , i tried rebooting it like 10 times and doing a battery pull .
The touchscreen worked in the corners of the screen only , so it must be the moisture i think .
ive got some good news, near the beginging of augest i dropped my phone in a puddle, dried it out and everything but it didnt work, it took ages to turn on and touchscreen didnt work. no shops could fix it, so i left it on my windowsill and bought a blackberry, i tried it every week and it didnt work.
so the other day i decided to try it again just coz i can. (nearly 4months later) it works perfectly, i was so happy coz the xperia play is the only phone i really like.
so my adivce if it doesnt work anytime soon, if you really want this phone, just leave it for a while, you could get lucky like me!
My Play digitizer stopped working completely due to applying wet screen protector.
Then I put one my Nexus today. And it made to power button stop working, I had to open it to dry it. Guess I didn't learn the lesson the first time.

Got some weird problems with my S4.
So I had a rom installed, noticed the phone kept crashing, as in now and again screen would not turn on and it reset, now it got worse and to the point the phone would no longer boot.
So I flashed a stock rom: I9505XXUEMK8
And whilst the phone works, sometimes I get a no sim alert then then the phone resets and I can't get back into the OS without plugging it in.
I check in recovery and noticed even thought the battery life was showing at like 70% it's suddenly down to 0%
So nearly all of the time if I try to restart my phone I need to plug into charger to do it.
I've even flashed with PIT file too.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
Also getting no SIM, signal cutting out then resetting.

A large quantity of samsung S4 was shipped with bad batteries that starts to swell after 2 or 3 months of usage, change the batterie under warranty since this is a know issue at samsung.
kind regards
I had a similar problem with mine. Phoned Samsung here in the UK and they wouldn't acknowledge there was a battery problem and wanted me to send the phone, battery and charger back to them which they reckoned would be a 10 day turnaround. I couldn't be without a phone for that long so I bought an Anker battery as no one I spoke to about a genuine one would guarantee a new battery with a good serial number Since fitting the Anker one I've had no more problems I still want a new one from Samsung though
I'll buy a new battery, I thought the battery was swelling and not sitting in but thought it was just me !!
It is indeed swelling, will it explode?
But does that explain the no sim and signal disappearing?

Check your battery serial #. If it starts with BDxxx or DDxxxx, Sansumg recognized they are dammaged and should replace it to you.
If its swollen then it's damaged.

Here you have your resolution. You have a Samsung recognized damaged battery. Try to change it in the SAT (it should be free), or buy a new one.
Be careful, swilling can damage the hardware by forcing it... in your position I wouldn't use the phone anymore till you have a new battery.

Hello Mi A1 users.
Today I'm complaining about something that's happening to Mi A1. The back of the device (black variant) have some "holes" where it seems there's no painting. I only have this phone for one month and I always used it with cover.

if u use a hard cover, it may actually be the culprit. What happens is the inner surface of the cover rubs the phone body, removing the paint/coating on it. Unfortunately, not using a cover means damage to the internals on every fall. i use soft covers, they are good for absorbing shocks while being less harsh on the phone body. The look is compromised but then its the deal.....

It happens when sands get stuck under your cover and it wears out the color finish of the aluminum. This is very common if you use a case and don't clean regularly. Those who don't use a case never face this situation but they risk the physical health of the device.
