Hi,
What would be a recommended ICS ROM for p7500
- without battery drain issue
- rooted
- OC if possible, not necessary
I'm currently on stock ICS, having battery drain issues especially when in airplane mode (hitting I2_hsic wakelock). My device has the faulty eMMC version of the chip (MAG4FA) but luckily survided 2 wipes so far. I don't have CWM flashed so far.
Please advise what CWM to flash and how to survive the next potential flash without bricking.
Thanks!

A1 Kernel.
I am using the (almost) same tablet, stock ICS p7510. What is this battery drain issue in airplane mode? I wasn't aware of it.

It only happens to some people which cpu doesn't enter in offline or deep sleep mode... it depends of the kernel, his flashing procedure, and his voltage assignement which affects different to each tablet...

If you're using a cooked ROM or a non-stock kernel, yes, it depends majorly of the user, but if you're using all ROM and kernel and everything stock, and the flashing procedure is right, it is a bug, but if you search the web you will not find a user with this issue having a just bought tab or a just picked up frommSat with this problem, so....

I have the stock ics rom from Tmobile, my tablet discharging curve is described below.
I think I have battery drain issue... 16% on 17 hours...
I left the tablet off and changing. Pluged off and turned it on and left discharging, idle, with screen off...
What about yours tablet? How is the discharging curve?

It is less than 1% per hour!! It is ok, it means more than 4 days on in iddle mode... (!!) and 3g version usually drains more than wifi version... if you did't enter in sleep mode, the rate would be about 5-10% per hour...

Strangely, on my P7500 with all stock Roms ICS, XXLQ8, XWLP5 and XWLP6, I have battery drain only in Flight Mode. I have the l2_hsic lock that apparently prevents the tablet to enter deep sleep. If i turn gsm on, it sleeps. Sometimes, with gsm off it also sleeps but since i travel alot, as soon as my network changes, it stops sleeping.
I'm thinking about a problem with the flight mode that does not turn off completely the gsm modem.
If i remove the sim card it sleeps tight.
Am I the only one with this problem?
Is it an hardware problem???
Still looking for an answer.

It's the same here:
- flight mode on --> no deep sleep
- wifi & GSM on --> sleep nearly ok (still 1,5hr l2_hsic wakelock)
Only difference is with the SIM removed, mine does not sleep in this case.
So what would be the precess with the A1 kernel?
1. flash CWM (which version?)
2. flash kernel
3. wipe
Thanks.

Ok flashed jellybeam with a1 1.7. Looked promising but yesterday I still had 12hrs of L2_hsic wakelock. Overall baterry life is not bad. The only thing I didn't do so far is wiping battery cache - what does it exactly do, would it help?

I don't think wipe batteri cache works... but maybe wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache do.
Also, some people have experimented this withnA1 kernel: 1) at min cpu freq of 150 never entered in deep sleep, but at 216 as min freq did. Try both min freq. 2) because any reason, this is my case, A1ver. 1.7 doesn't enter in deep sleep for me, neither at 150mor 216 as min freq, but ver. 1.6.4 (previous version) does, because this i have installed 1.6.4.

(h2_hsic wakelock) is the main reason for battery drain in stock ICS.
- Yes I'm testing with charger disconnected.
- Cache and and dalvik has been wiped when flashing
The last night was ok - I turned off wifi but let 3g on - wakelock only 9 minutes and baterry only 1% drain in 8hrs. Looks like solved at the moment.

Hi all. Just wonder why my battery life is not that great as a lot of ppl claiming. I m using latest codename with latest matr1x cna kernel cpu is set min 100 max 1200 and ondemand governor. Yesterday my battery only last me about 10hrs where i had made about 10 phonecalls send/read 5-10 emails browse xda forum and read bit if news.any ideas?

Well even with your slight over click that is contributing to lower battery life, get rid of some used apps. Check sync settings so all social media apps. Even if to don't use Google Walker go in and set it up, I read that it does eat up battery. Or if you don't plan on using Google wallet just remove it

My battery didn't really start improving until I started thinking about data and syncing. I am using AOKP ROM and its power save option. When my screen turns off, my data turns off. I have not had any issues or delays and my battery has been fantastic. If you don't want to change ROMS (I am fiercely loyal to mine) then the Green Power app will do the same thing. I also have changed all widgets and gmail to update every 4 hours. SG-NS4G kernel has been great for battery. Hope this gives you a starting point. Having to worry about your battery sux.

Also as previously stated change your CPU settings I am set to 100/800 but even 100/1000 would be easier on your power consumption. I have not suffered any significant performance losses with daily use.

Numerous kernel and rom developers state the opposite - overclocking can conserve battery by the race to idle theory. Check the kernel benchmark thread for data.
I myself used to underclock and undervolt, but I've experienced fantastic results running Steve Garon's 1.14 kernel at 100/1100mhz with the interactive governor and standard voltage (although this kernel is pre-configured with a 900mV floor).
AOKP Milestone 2, Steve Garon 1.14 kernel at the settings described above resulted in a best of 50hrs with nearly 4hrs of screen on time.
My average is 25-30hrs with 4-5hrs of screen time, with the stock 1440mah battery.

When I had an iPhone 4, My battery life was amazing with all social networking apps.. Facebook, Twitter, Path, Tumblr..(I had atleast 10 hours with heavy use) I'm trying to understand why as to all these social networking apps have a huge issue with Android.. Is this just strickly developer of the social networking app's issue?
Thanks guys i think my problem was that my battery hasn't been calibrated after flashing new ROM . Once calibrated and fully discharged then fully charged seems to be alright. I left my phone all night unplugged with wifi on screen turned off and only lost about 2% .

Are you using any power saving apps or settings or no? I think that my biggest problem may be that I have weak signal and weak Wifi signal at home. At work, both are strong so my phone does better at work. And at night my phone is in my bedroom which is the worst place for bother 2G/3G signal and Wifi.
All that said though I think that I will give this ROM/kernel combination a try later today. Does codename have gapps built in or not?

I've tried the India version of the ICS official update and there aren't too many issues with stability compared to the sucky Honeycomb that came on it. I've also tried several CM 9, 10 and AOKP ROMs on the P7500.
Does the ICS ROM drain your battery more than the HC ROM? Yes, in my experience.
Is it worth it? Hell yeah.
In the end, the choice is yours.
I think you definitely should upgrade, the new ics is much smoother and better overall.

Yes, upgrade, but you will need to install A1 kernel and overclock so that the tab will have the necessary performance (and more) and you will not have propblems to enter the CPU in deep sleep (battery drain issue).

Some coments:
1. A1 kernel is not a modified ROM as CMx, but just a half-modified kernel which prevents bricks (emm_cap_erase), oveclocks gpu and cpu, and let you charge the tab from any USB port.
2. If you wait for a stock ics or jb rom with better performance than actual stock roms, surely you will watch before on tv the first step of the man over mars.
3. The reason why samsung or any other manufacturers don't overclock the devices is the same reason why a elevator can technically support 7.500kg weight, but the plate says max. 750kg/10 pers... ie, the tab supports higher freq, but depending of some ambiental and manufacturing conditions one tab could works lightly different than other tab on same freq (and so, same cpu voltages). Because this undervolting could affect by different way on different tabs of same model. The manufacturer finally set a nominal freq which sure them the tab will not give probelms in a determined life time (this is quality).

I think last oficial version for p7500 is xwlp6 in sammobile.com , you can flash it using odin and then you can flash A1 kernel to improve the performance allowing overclock.
About usb charging, you read wrong, it's nothing to do of voltage (allways 5V for usb), but with currents. Here is the explanation (see my last post):

so guys finaly i made my mind after suggestions from u and upgraded via odin to indian ICS P7500XWLP5_P7500ODDLP5_P7500XXLQ8_INU as i read that italian ICS has some bugs.what i found in ICS is it is very smooth, fast and beautiful then HC3.2.i like it very much.so far didnt use it much as i upgraded at night before sleep but i turned off wifi and left it on with battery 85% and then i checked after 7 hours and 30 min and battery dropped to 77% so it consumes 1% in 1 hour so far so u guys tell me is it ok ?(i didnt switched to aeroplane mode as i didnt find it anywhere).today again i will use it and compare battery life. Now as jaswinky suggested to flash it with kernel A1 i decided to 1st use it for sometime without kernel A1 and meanwhile read some more about the process of flashing with kernal A1 as it is little bit complicated process.
Guys should i try this method in link below to fix 1% battery drain for 1 hour or is it ok to have battery 1 % drop/hour while not using it.

ok Jaswinky i checked again with aeroplane mode on and battery dropped 5% in approx 8 hours so it is less then 1% in aeroplane mode on and approx 1 % with aeroplane mode off without sim card inside so i think this indian ICS version dont have battery drain issue but the guy from link claims to have no battery drop by disabling google services framework tell me is it worth trying?

If you use autostarts to disable some google services, you probably will not be notified of some issue as gmail, calendar, etc. You should be care using autostarts. I use autostarts to completelly disable start formsome third programs and games, and also maps, facebook, google+, that's all.
If you are not happy with having the tab with more than 4 days battery with the tab on and screen off, you can try different roms and kernels.... i am happy with this battery situation.

something bad started happening last night i left tab in airplane mode on and screen off and battery dropped from 70% to 31% after approx 12 hours when i checked in day so now it consumes 3% per hour.i made sure that no program is running in backgroud wifi was off,i dont use sim mobile data off.it surprised me a lot as 1st night it consumed 1% per hour but 2nd night 3 % per hour that is too much means that if i dont put it on charge battery will drain in 1 day.plz suggest what i can do or try.
As i was reading about this problem i found some1 suggested to use cpu tuner application it is free should i give it a try?
Also some guys told to change option for background processes to off or disable to no background processes in settings -developer option if i do it will it help,do it effect the performance of tab & is it ok if i disable it only at night before sleep and again turn it on for normal usage.
some1 also suggested to turn off account & sync in settings saying this conserves the battery.do it help?i use only gmail account for google play store

something bad started happening last night i left tab in airplane mode on and screen off and battery dropped from 70% to 31% after approx 12 hours when i checked in day so now it consumes 3% per hour.i made sure that no program is running in backgroud wifi was off,i dont use sim mobile data off.it surprised me a lot as 1st night it consumed 1% per hour but 2nd night 3 % per hour that is too much means that if i dont put it on charge battery will drain in 1 day.plz suggest what i can do or try.

Probably your tab is not entering in deep sleep. You should check it with setcpu or system tuner or similar app to discard it is your problem. If you are entering in deep sleep, check battery uses to see the wake up frequency and the top battery draining apps.

well i got good results last day it was like 10% drop in 8 hours with some changes i made in settings. For me sync was already off i have only gmail&samsung accounts there.i turned off in settings mobile data data usage&in wifi i changed it to only when plugged in.well it is amazing if these 2 changes can give me such good results.below are screen shots.but i think problem is still there as tab didnt go into deep sleep in both pics &constantly using 216 Mhz..Now i will try to root my tab and install betterbatterystats application to check why 216 Mhz is used always, yesterday i tried to root on tab by putting root.zip in root directory but it didnt work for me so i think i will have to root with help of odin with recovery file.I have one doubt as the cpuspy was running as application all this time so may be it is responsible for using 216 Mhz?Plz help

1- Nope, CPU SPY is not respnsible.
2- You don't need to root to run better battery stats.
3- You will probably find out that the responsible is a l2_hsic wakelock. You will have to go to settings, more, kernel wakelocks.

No app will solve your problem except a right kernel. You must solve asap your no deep sleep state entering issue, and usually it is because the kernel. Try a different kernel as A1 kernel (you have ICS right?), you need to root before, and try both min freq 150 and 216 (i use 150 but some people reported that they need to set to 216 min freq to enter deep sleep).
EDIT: before flashing a different kernel, try to clean the installed kernel by doing wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache (from CWM Recovery in rooted device). Some times it works to solve the deep sleep issue.

Do you have Wi-Fi enabled? Apparently this is a well-known problem on certain networks with lots of broadcast/multicast packets (like DropBox LAN sync discovery). I've been trying to figure out a way to filter those out, like this: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=56471

About these:
ril-fd , l2_hsic, radio interface, umts_ipc0
ril.fd & umts_ipc0: Wlan advanced konfiguration: Keep Wlan on during sleep - off & open Data Usage, press Menu-button: Restrict background data
radio interface: Do you use the radio? If you don't get Link to SD and freeze the app.

The only working solution for now: flash Lollipop. It's not perfect but it heats and drains battery much less than Marshmallow.
I'm creating this thread so that we can discuss battery life issues and look for a solution.
There is a popular thread on this topic but it is marked as solved, and while the original poster's issue has been solved there are many others that remain.
For some people the issue was solved when rootkernel was updated to fix some bug. But that was a long time ago, and some bugs are obviously present even in the latest kernels rooted with the latest rootkernel versions. It's still unclear if the issue is present on non-rooted kernels.
I will create a poll, please consider answering it to help clear the issue.
By the way, has anyone encountered any issues on 5.1, or is it just a Marshmallow issue?
Partial solution: I installed OM5Z kernel and it has significantly improved battery life on Marshmallow.
While it's still much worse than what you would expect from a Sony compact, it's not awful anymore. The phone can go a day (no heavy usage) without charging now.
Stock or Xpower 4 ,rooted or not dosnt metter - i have a drain every night(8-9 h of sleep) about 5-7% in airplane mode.Try BBS and WD now but seems phone sleep good.Think i lost about 15-20% at 24 hours
On Xpower 4 lite as is...with andro kernel v36 same issue. And i dont have any other soft. Goggle sync and other garbage is off.
Dont now where is may be problem.

Try Xpower3, it looks like X4 got more problem. I'm running v3.0 Full(stock kernel), when I set it to airplane mode over night only drain 1~2% everytime but I've installed greenify donated and used xposed amplify.
For anyone reading this thread, are there any other things people can note about their setup?
Country? Carrier?
If you are having issues, what apps do you use? Do you have a microSD card and if so, what brand/model?
If you are not having issues, same question about apps and microSD card.
I have seen on my phone the higher Android OS CPU usage which is of course the black hole of power drain for many people. I still need to do more scientific testing of usaging or avoiding apps to see if anything is triggering the drain.
T-Mobile US customer here, typically on Wifi at work/home also with T-Mobile cellspot for signal strengh. Standard apps for messaging and social media including Snapchat (bad app for power usage) but avoiding Facebook for now. Google Now Launcher.
Stock firmware, rooted stock kernel, don't have issues
1) Z5 was incredibly hot out of the box
2) Wiping the system, rooting the kernel etc. fixed this but gave me awful battery life
3) Installing the modded kernel then fixed the battery life (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/9-battery-drain-overnight-97-deep-sleep-t3382145)
I can stretch it to 3 days with light use, a day of heavy use can put me back 50-60%
I'm from the UK with the UK unbranded official ROM.

Ок i try.
I found software RealBattery and CaliBattery.Try this too.
I have also recently upgraded from Z3C to Z5C with stock Singapore Customized FW, but I live in France (ordered from eBay).
Weird thing is that during the day it loses may be 30-40% in 6 hours, but every evening after I come back from work, phone overheats with battery up to 50 degrees and drains 30% in 1 hour...
In stats, it shows Android OS using most of battery and keep awake being 80% of up time...
I had same issue on Z3C with last 6.0.1 MM.
During the night I usually lose 5-10%.
Any advice?

The problem is that I have E5803, and not E5823...
Will the HK FW work on it? It's only for E5823 I think (according to Xperifirm)
Also, what exactly should I do - I should wipe everything when installing using Flashtool right?
Should I also do reset after installation?
Can I restore my backup or you would recommend to make a clean install of the apps as well?
I don't want to lose data of apps.

Okay, now that I have gathered some statistics I take back my words about significantly improved battery life. It's slightly improved and still awful.
I'm using stock fw, but have deleted about 60-70 apps I don't have any use for. I also use OM5Z kernel. I experience no drain what I know of, usually have about 3 days with normal use.
The only issue I experienced is that the phone totally crashed a couple of times. I can't wake it up at all, and it doesn't take any charge (LED doesn't lid up). I have to use the reset button to reboot it. But so far, it's a small issue

Hello,
I have a fresh install of 7.1.2 via ADB, after sync all my data opened Chrome, 3 tabs and Bam! reboot. This is driving me crazy.
What can I do? Can't even remember if my 6p was stable out of the box (6.0?). Doesn't matter if I install by OTA or manually by ADB, the random reboots have been always there.
6p stock
Non-Google apps installed:
Word
PowerPoint
Excel
OneDrive
OneNote
QuickPick
Netflix
Solid Explorer (pro)
WhatsApp
Uber
TuneIn Radio
Tapatalk
Google Services is always on top of battery usage.
One thing I notice is that most of the time, the phone gets noticeably warmer before it freezes for a few seconds and reboot.

So don't open any tabs in Chrome and see how long it stays stable.
Did you wipe dalvic and cache?
My phone stays up until I reboot. I'm running 7.1.2 with ElementalX and Magisk.
No issues.
Install cool tool and watch your free ram. You could be getting hit by OOM killer.
I'd also backup data if I were you just in case that's an emmc issue.....
how about doing factory reset?

I would first try a factory reset from the stock recovery. Not looking to turn this into YABT but install Accubattery and follow the guide on manually checking battery capacity. If you have not done so already, I would also recommend you unlock your bootloader and enable USB debugging in Dev Settings. Once you know your battery's capacity (found under Health tab) post it here. It will take a couple of full charge cycles to give you a reasonably accurate number. Does this occur regardless of the charge state? eg. Will it happen on a full charge right off the charger? Above 50%? Only when the battery is lower than 25%?

If you have not done so already you should unlock your bootloader and flashing a full image with flash-all.bat rather than using ADB to sideload OTA's. If you have stock recovery and unrooted, you will only be able to wipe the cache partition in recovery. The issue may be independent of the battery level, but may very well be battery related. Your battery may be degraded. Run Accubattery and see what your battery capacity comes back as.

I second the opinion that in the name of safety, do a full backup of everything you would not want to lose. The behavior may not be related at all to the BLOD issues but it's fairly close to some reports of experiences users had before the boot looping hit.

The last time was reading news from my city, www.biobiochile.cl , had less than 5 tabs opened.
99% of the freezes occur when using Chrome, the rest are when using YouTube or Google Music. Maybe is something related to heavy usage of cache, I'm heavy user of YouTube and have all my music (about 5gb) stored in the cache of Google Music.
