USB Lock Security Feature I found once but can't find again

While toying with my LG G2, I managed to find a setting where I could lock down the phone's USB connection and prevent it from showing anything when connected to a computer if the screen is locked prior. The only way to get it to show on the computer was to actually unlock the phone first in which then once it shows you can lock it back.
I find this feature AWESOME (something I always wanted) because people wouldn't be able to just put my phone on their computer and copy my ish (well I'm sure you can get around it, but most 'regular' people wouldn't be able to figure it out) <-- by regular I mean not NERDS like us.
If anyone else has discovered this setting and knows how to get back to it, plz share. I been looking for it for awhile but have not been able to find it.

OK. Must be a stock ROM feature because I can't find it on AOSP.

Yeah, it's definitely Stock. I found and tested it like wow this is kinda cool, then now that I want to turn it off temporarily due to a lot i'm going to be modding, I can't find the feature again, lol. I guess I could just turn the lock off in general for awhile... but I kinda don't want to, ya know?
If I figure out how I did it, I'll come back and post so you all will know. I think it's pretty good extra security personally. At least if you lose your phone and someone finds it, it gives you a bit more time to remotely wipe it.

[Q] CM11 charge only mode problem

Hello I'm not new here or to anything root yet I have a problem.
My phone is an S4 i9505 running 4.4.2 Kitkat with the rom being the latest cyanogenmod 11 and when the battery is low I turn it off and plug it in.
This is where the problem begins, When plugged in it should show the battery icon for charging or at least the light but instead it shows the loading battery icon and never changes, forcing me to turn it on to charge. I only turn off my phone when it needs to be charged, but I don't want to haft to turn it on to charge.
If there is a thread for this please post the link and feel free to call me a noob.
It's possible that it's not implemented yet in the rom. It's a work in progress.

Then what would you suggest?
Besides coding it yourself? Switching to a rom that does support it.

I don't like to judge things but I think you need to take care of the normal usage pattern of yours.
I would love to know what you want to know though, just because of the convenience. I am using Faux's kernel, and I don't think it has Touch2Wake enabled, I have tried enabling it, nothing happened, I think it's not implemented to the kernel. Don't know if there are any other kernels which have the support for it.

Charging probelms (plus more) after Oreo update

I updated my S8 to Oreo a few weeks back (Samsung Experience 9.0) and ever since I have a plethora of problems.
The main one being that charging the device is now a battle...
I seem to have narrowed it down to using a fast charge power brick (2.0A)
I have tried the official Samsung unit and cable supplied with the phone, and good quality 3rd party cables and plugs....nothing works.
The device does not even register the cables existence.
BUT,
If I use a standard plug (< 2.0A), and a none Samsung cable it will charge
If I use a Samsung cable, it does not. Seemingly regardless of plug.
I've also noticed that the battery life has significantly reduced, come noon time, the deice is ready to be charged, showing less than 50% having been sat on my desk, with little to no use. (I only charge it at this point as I know it wont make it the rest of the day)
Some other issues I've noticed since the Oreo update...Wi-Fi seems choppy, slow and laggy, and I quite often get the " ! " next to the signal status bar icon.
And almost 100% of the time if I try to cast to one of my Chromecast or Google Home devices, the S8 does not see them (connected to same Wi-Fi SSID), meaning if I open Google Home app, and click top right to see my devices, they are....sometimes disabling and re-enabling Wi-Fi will fix this.
I spoke to what Samsung call their 'Tech Support' and it was beyond a joke...their solution...."Turn the phone off and on"...that was it, they could / would not offer any more support than this, and also claimed that I was the only 1 reporting this / these "potential issues"
I had another update pushed to my S8 yesterday (14.05.2018) which according to the docs was released 10.05.18 - G950FXXU1CRD7
This has not helped with anything....
Has anyone else had any of these or similar problems following Oreo update?
Does anyone know of any 'fix' if so?
TIA
While I can't help with most of the problems, see my post in another thread regarding wifi

Sorry, I'm not following?
I haven't noticed the OS itself being laggy, nor any problems with the nav bar.

No sorry, not seen that.
I've not kept track of my device up time and/o/ usage hours.
I have my device set to auto reboot every Friday.
I guess all I can offer is to advise to use this feature in the settings...maybe open a separate thread of your own?

why would I intentionally try and create another problem for myself....
This is a little off-topic now so id ask you start your own thread please so we can get back to the OP topic.
Hopefully someone can help me.
So I have just discovered yet another problem.....
When I connect my S8 to my windows laptop I cannot transfer files...I get a pop up telling me its slow charging.
I've disabled USB debugging in dev. options, not fixed anything.
USB configuration is set to WTP in dev. options.
bump for help.....please!

What to do with a Galaxy A5 2016 dead Wifi/BT, without SIM? Special phone projects?

I got a Samsung Galaxy A5 2016 from my company. The phones Wifi is dead, probably because the chip got too hot while charging. Seems to be a quite common problem. Bluetooth only works for a minute before switching off. NFC works fine.
What could I still do with this phone?
It would be a phone without SIM (I already have a spare), without Wifi, without Bluetooth.
GPS works, NFC works.
I could need a navigation device without online access.
Are there other projects out there? Special phones for special purpose with Android without Gapps? Encrypted phones?
I havent found kali linux for the 2016 version
when you turn on wifi what happens?
Wifi doesnt turn on, or turns off immediately.

I will try, but I think it happens on all ROMs.
Yeah, well, the same is happening to me now, have you tried replacing the chip?

Repair firmwares are not always released publicly so you might have to take it to a Samsung repair center.
