any ideas how to get out of it? did i brick my phone? D: (my first android phone) HELP PLEASE!
Have you tried pulling the battery, and start over?
yeah i did.
i also tried doing a wipe/factory reset ...which didnt work.
everytime i try to reboot the phone it takes me to the bootloading screeen. ;/
What were you trying to do? Unlock the bootloader?
uhm i was trying to root my phone, and was in the process of unlocking the bootloader.. so i did unlock it but now when i try to restart my phone or do anything it just takes me back to the bootloader screen. D:
I saw this happened to someone else on the development section.
He solved this by flashing a wiped nandroid backup...
can't seem to find the thread but look for it, it should be there.
My Nexus S is (was) doing the same thing this morning as well.
I had not done anything to it, hadn't even unlocked the boot loader. I plugged it in to charge overnight and when I woke up it was bootlooping on the animation. Battery pull - nothing. Pulled SIM - nothing.
The only way I was able to fix it was to go into recovery and go ahead and unlock the bootloader which forced a wipe. (How does one hard reset this thing anyhow?)
I'm a little concerned that this might happen again....
hrm, i tried locking and then relocking and doing a wipe but that doesnt work ;/ still takes me through the bootlooop. any other suggestions? D: thanks for tryinggg.

I had Revolution HD rom or something like that don't remember it't long time it worked. One morning I woke up and my phone didn't respone. Yesterday everything worked..When i tried to boot current rom it stuck on HTC screen..Okay so I decided to flash new rom because recovery still work but I probably lost my root because it can't delete previous rom..Today after long time I decide to ask you what to do. When I tried update new version of rom today it looked like everything it's fine but is stuck on HTC logo or restarts over and over again..
Sorry for bad eng..
DO you want help?I can help u if u only want it
Go into the recovery, wipe/format everything and flash a new ROM. Wipe is needed!
Sleekykenny: Of course i want
I wiped everything but it writes error when I wipe system.
I also flashed new rom and and got message saying successful, but when i reboot my dhd it just stay vendors screen which is 3mobile. But if i remove the battery i can get hboot menu. i also can get into clockworld recoveryand flash rom and wipe data etc. can anyone help or is my phone bricked.
Same problem
Guys I'm not an expert in this, but when you flash a new ROM it takes time to load. Maybe you just didn't wait enough.

You're right. When intalling a new ROM, the first boot is longer because the new one is building a new Dalvik cache and so on... depending of the release.
Be patient a bit more, then report ...

if you can get into your phone into hboot/recovery/fastboot then your phone is not a brick!
the problems with white htc screen is called a bootloop. like the user above suggested use a full wipe. easiest way is connect phone to PC and go into fastboot from your options when in the bootloader
type in fastboot erase system -w this will erase all system and userdata
then disconnect phone from PC when that is complete and navigate to your recovery option. select the recovery option and then mount back to USB cable and select USB toggle option so you can data transfer to SD card.
put new rom you wish to use or redownload one you wanted. then try again
It's actually a splash loop, a boot loop is the boot animation. But you get the idea

the only option i get when i get into fastboot from the phone is bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader and power down. if i chose any of the above then they all go back Hboot menu. cannot get into menu to type in fastboot erase sytem -w. can u advise me on where is the menu?. or i'm i doing something wrong..
thanks.

I don't understand where u was waiting.
Can you describe what was happening?
Are you able to access the bootloader??
1. Pull out battery
2. Put in battery
3. Hold power + Volume Down buttons until inside bootloader UI
4. Use volume keys to navigate to the "Recovery" option then press the power key.
5. Once recovery has booted, use volume keys to navigate to the "Factory reset & wipe data" option, then press power key.
6. Reboot.
Results?
Had the same problem in the past.
I downloaded an RUU and managed to get my phone to boot normally.
Take a look on this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982783
Download RUU is a good idea I tried it, didn't work..In that post he said some asian worked but I can't get one anywhere.
I used the Asia_WWE_1.32.707

Got part with fastboot but where am I supposed to write -w? I'm not that good in this that is why I ask here for help. But thanx anyway. And I tried wipe everything using recovery and when I wipe system writes error all the time.
I also tried all the above method but to no avail. Then a friend of mine bought the dhd so i made a goldcard from his phone loaded a pd98img.zip and flashed.. my dhd is back in action... i think this is your only solution, find somebody with the same phone. If u cant let me no i'll send you a gold card.
If it could help me than upload it somewhere And tell me how to use it. I heard about it but not sure.
You can remove your sd card then you will be able to choose the recovery option instead of it constantly going to hboot. The hboot looks for a file and asks you to instal or not install and then tells you to power of. Remove you sd card and you wont get this option so you can go into recovery and reflash a rom (you can re insert your sd card once in recovery and chose the mount option)
Hello XDA
First off let me tell you what im running.
Nexus 4 running Cyanogenmod 11 with USB debugging turned off.
So my I bought this phone used and allowed my brother to install a custom ROM on it. I also gave him the OK when he asked me if he can encrypt the phone. (No problem, what can go wrong right?) Well it turns out nothing did go wrong but the only thing is when I went to go change the password I only changed the SCREEN LOCK password not the encryption password thinking they were the same. When i went to go boot up my phone today it asked for the encryption password but wont accept the lock password. Went to ask my brother for the password and he said he forgot because he had already told it to me.
Now im stuck with a possible broken phone =[
Steps I have tired: after painstaking hours on google and XDA looking for an answer
- I have tired to download TWRP but cant install the zip file because i cant get the fastboot to show USB FASTBOOT
- I have tired recovery mode with ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.4.7 and tired the cwipe data/ factory reset with no luck
Can someone please guide me in the right direction on what I should do to fix my phone?
Many Thanks!!
Flash the factory image in fastboot. It'll wipe the device and return it to like new. If you don't have fastboot Google 15 second adb install xda

I installed the 15 secs ADB but when i run the program, it quickly shows a DOS screen then auto closes. Would this still work with USB debugging turned off on my android?
EDIT
the phone doesnt even show up on my device manager, after typing "adb devices" no devices show up. I have tired to manually install the drivers but it wont show up on device manager
You can just factory reset the phone to remove encryption. Boot the phone into recovery mode. When you see the "no command" screen hol vol-up and tap power, then you can wipe the device.
The title says it all. Help!
Please elaborate, tell us EXACTLY what happens when you try booting into fastboot, recovery, google logo, etc., using "title says it all" is not sufficient for fixing this because we don't know what you want us to fix (exactly).

Dude, I consider myself a hardened modder, but this is way over my head, what did you do exactly? And where do you live? A replacement might only be 100$ or maybe even less.

My uncle gave it to me and tell me that if I can fix it, i can keep it. And i live in Vietnam. I think a replacement is not cheap, and also it is too old and maybe there won't have any replacements

well then ask your asshole uncle what he did, because maybe if we have a cause we can have an idea of what went wrong at least.. can your computer connect to it at all via adb and fastboot? have you tried holding down the power button and both volume buttons to boot it up (this boots you into bootloader mode)? I live in Australia so our timezones are actually kind of close.

can you connect to it via fastboot/adb? you might be able to very quickly flash a new bootloader (that is not broken).

data won't be wiped unless you wipe data, but no garuntees. And hey, a fixed tablet with no data on it is better than a broken one with data, either way you can't access the data, at least one way you get a shiny new tablet!
here is a download for the stock firmware for nexus 10 (5.1.1): https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/mantaray-lmy49j-factory-b24f40e6.zip
just unzip it and the zip file inside it (a zip file is in a zip file in this scenario) to get the images, you should see an obvious bootloader one. TO try and finesse the tablet with it, do this:
1. Before powering on the device into the bootloader, type in "fastboot flash bootloader [file path to downloaded bootloader file, you can drag and drop it into terminal to get the exact path]"
2. hit enter, it should now say "<waiting for device>" if it gives a file not found error you entered in the path wrong, drag and drop the file into the terminal, its easier.
3. now connect the nexus 10 and power it into the bootloader
4. your terminal *should* begin flashing bootloader, if not we will try something else.
Hi, my sister somehow forgot the graphical key, so phone is now locked. of course it is not a stolen phone , i do keep all the documents proving that it was bought.
So, all the articles point me to use TWRP recovery or similar, but to flash the twrp onto phone i first need to enable USB debugging and unlock bootloader but since phone is locked i can't get to developer setting ....
So, any solution to this? Any help greatly appreciated!
p.s. tried flashing TwRP and aroma zips from microsd flash with no success ( permission error = blocked bootloader?)
u need to unlock bootloader first and if data recovery is avoidable the simply reset device via booting into recovery via power + volume down button
u can simply unlock bootloader via asus official unlock tool without using pc,just a apk to install and use

but some people say it is possible to just do wipe data operation to unlock graphical key. I don't understand why it doesn't work in my case..
Since Asus stock rom is encrypted.. .there could be hardly any way to recovery data without twrp or only using phone system.
