[Q] New replacement policy for screen issues? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I was told by Google advisor that i can only get a maximum of 2 replacement for screen flickering issue. They said it is a new replacement policy. They left me no choice. Is either i request for refund before 29/9 or i hold this screen flickering issue nexus 7 since i have already used up my 'Max 2 replacement for screen issues' quota.
Do you guys who face screen flickering issue being notified of such new policy? Why is Google not fixing or being responsible for this?

HTC HD2 Screen fault

Hello there.
My HTC HD2 has been giving me some problems lately.I have recently noticed that there are flickering magenta/pink bars flickering horizontally across screen.
I have neither dropped the phone nor have i applied pressure on the screen since i carry it in my jacket breast pocket.
I am just wondering if anybody here has came across a similar issue.Virgin media are trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility, claiming that the fault is down to reckless handling.
Thanks
bumping the thread
I'm getting blue and pink bars intermittently appearing. My HD2 has been sent off for repair under warranty. Gutted. Back to a very bog standard SE handset for the time being.
I'm glad your getting yours repaired.Virgin are claiming that the HTC warranty does not cover this particular fault.
lying bastards.

Have you in the mean time got the problem fixed, and if so, how? As of today I am experiencing the same problems, and don't know if its worthwhile sending the phone in to HTC for repair.
I occasionally get vertical green flickering bars but only ever when sense is on screen which makes me think that it isnt a hardware issue. Anyone else experiencing this only whilst on a manila screen??
Hi,
I work in telecomms at the moment and can tell you that Virgin Media are not responsible for Hardware faults but should replace the device if you have the original boxing etc. This issue must be linked to the Pink Hue problem that the stock wm6.5 roms came with on the camera, try downloading the HOTFIX for the pink hue and that should do it, if not then I recommend trying a new ROM; as it only happens every now and again its not the physical screen but the ROM itself that is causing the flickering. Im not an expert but these two potential fixes come to mind.
If you need more help then let me know.
Blue lines on screen
For about a week I had blue lines across the screen no matter what screen in the phone I was on. I tried changing ROMs and Radios and nothing changed but then after a few days it just stopped happening and hasn't re-appeared since. I would say just upgrade ROM and radio and hopefully that might help.
Good luck
had that before, its a sign of problems with the screen, usually causes by faulty connection of the digitizer or of the LCD. you might want to call HTC as it usually caused by influx in temperature.
this is covered by HTC warranty just call HTC directly and they will fix it for sure, might only have to pay for shipping there.

Hey I never thought of that, thanks dude, you learn something everyday here.
Hi guys same problem here, for over a month now. It got worse and now is: color failure, lines that flicker or constant remaining lines especially in the home tab. I will check through my guarantee, i have done nothing wrong to harm it.As much as i like this phone it seems that problems are endless(...restart...etc)
Hey,
the easiest way to repair sir is call HTC, mail it in to them and they will fix as it is a hardware fault. If you call T-mobile they might not, but if u directly call HTC they will.

Backlight issue

I recently returned my phone for repair under warranty. The screen had developed a white line across the screen. The GPS also did always lock onto satellites.
I received the phone back today and noticed that the backlight on the home button is not working. The backlight on the menu, back and home buttons appears to be fine (see attachment)
Can anyone confirm that the home button should also have a backlight? I am nearly 100% certain the backlight was working before I brought it in for repair but just need confirmation before I bring it back to the shop again.
All 4 are suppose to light up.

Looks like that they forgot/misplaced the small plastic part that transfers light from the led on board to the back of the home button. You should go back to HTC for a fix.
I brought it back to the shop yesterday and they are sending it off to be repaired.
I was fairly annoyed as they they fixed the screen but not the GPS and to add insult to injury they had broken the backlight. I hope they get it right this time.
The shop wasn't too helpful either when I asked them how many times they would try to repair the phone before I get a new phone or refund. They said the policy was to try repair the phone four times before I could have a replacement. I said they could try repair it for a second time but after that I wouldn't be letting them repair it again.
It's pretty disappointing for a phone to have two major problems after just 10 months.
Under Irish consumer law, their "four repair (formerly three repair!) policy" is just that. A policy. It has no basis in law!
The law states that any repair must be permanent. If you repair wasn't permanent then you're entitled to a refund or a replacement! I'd say get back onto them!
Yeah I know my rights and told them that they can try fix it for a second time. If they don't fix it satisfactorily this time then I will be demanding a brand new phone or refund of €480.
I can't believe HTC/The Carphone Warehouse use a four time repair policy. It must be very cheap to repair than replace. I wonder do many people accept this policy as it clearly infringes on consumer rights and is not acceptable.
It's also embarressing for the customer i.e me to have to stand there arguing about consumer laws and rights with the sales person.

Flickering display when brightness is low

Hello all,
Something strange suddenly happened to my tmobile s7 edge, all of a sudden whenever I dim the brightness on the phone the screen goes crazy with flickers and greens. I need to set the brightness to the highest setting so the flicker can go away I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if they found a fix that doesn't involve having to change the screen, I live outside the US and I bought the phone on EBAY so any chance of getting it replaced is not an option.
P.S I've never dropped my phone ((
That's a software issue, nothing is wrong with your phone. I had that on my S5 from Lollipop to Marshmallow. Hopefully somebody could give you a more in depth answer.

Its not a software issue it sounds like a hardware issue and some customers reported this problem on a german portal. They got a replacement of the display/board.
I had the same problem here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3359221
Its a hardware issue. You need to ask your Ebay seller to replace it if they have such guarantee.

Screen burn-in after screen replacement

Finally my display broke yesterday after using more than 2 years. I'm gonna get it replaced soon. What I'm curious about is whether the Screen burn-in (Screen Retention) issue gets resolved after replacing with newer panels. Has anyone done it? If so, can you confirm the issue is not present in newer panels? And also do service centres replace the panel with boe or lgd?
