i have find this guide on http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Magic_(32B):_Rooting
for a previous problem SAPPIMG update fail
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCUj1qwGncA
Update Fail! PLEASE HELP ME!!

Main Version is older! Update Fail. , how can I fix

downgrading
try to use ruu from the website where you downloaded the sappimg file. just copy lik and paste it into browser adress bar. or look for forum thread regardin rooting a 32B Magic. or if did you read it very carefully the wiki instructions, probably you missed the note
Note: If you get an error saying "Main version is older" or "Incorrect Model ID" you'll need to create a goldcard. Follow goldcard instructions (including the revert to 32B Radio and Rom). When you reach the 'apply update' step, skip to the 'Install CyanogenMod latest' link.
Reboot when device is done updating. You now have the one-click vulnerable version of the firmware.

Beginner's Root Question

Hi,
I've rooted my phone (Vodafone HTC Magic - 32B) using TheUnlockr's one click root procedure, and then installed Amon Ra's Donut ROM which all works fine.
However, the information on my phone says:
Code:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
I read somewhere that it should say "S-OFF G" ?
Also, I'm not too sure about SPLs etc, am I able to flash any ROM from the recovery menu now, providing I wipe (and partition) my SD card appropriately first?
Apologies for the basic questions,
Thanks for your help in advance.

HTC Magic, Vodafone NZ Issues

Hello all,
I'm having some serious issues with my Magic.
I used theunlockr.com's goldcard method of rooting the magic, and i managed to root the phone successfully, however i reverted back to unrooted as i could not boot any custom ROM's (particularity Cyanogen's 5.0.7), they would just hang at the vodafone's splash screen. So i have reverted back to an unrooted state using the .nbh I got from these boards, Amon_RA's [How-To] Root and un-root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (sorry i am unable to post the link due to forum restrictions)
Now i am running 1.5 unrooted, but my problems get worse here.
Current details:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON H

I can use fastboot and boot to a custom recovery image, but i can only boot to 32A recoveries (Amon_RA's), have tried several versions, still can only boot to the 32A's.
while in the recovery menu, i am unable to apply any Zip files, they either come back as corrupted or verification failure (not signed). I have tried many different files many different times.
I am unable to flash the recovery partition using the fastboot command with the SDK, i am using windows XP.
Can anyone offer any help? I have spent countless hours searching for a reason why this would be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You did wrong way to unroot. Flashed 32A RUU to your 32B Magic
and got 3.22.20.17 radio (32A, but works on 32B too with restrictions)
To get your Magic fully 32B - you must flash official RUU for 32B Magics ... or ...
this nbh for UK Vodafone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4884067&postcount=1
p.s. nbh for UK, so you probably need create goldcard as you have Vodafone NZ
Goldcard avoids Customer ID check
Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't seem to work.
I tried to apply the smappimg using my normal micro SD, i got "Signature Incorrect".
I tried to apply the smappimg using my Goldcard, I got "Main Version Older".
I even re-downloaded the file and i also re-created my Goldcard, using the guide from theunlokr.com.
Any other ideas?

Help! stuck in fastboot; read other posts, no luck

It was first a indonesian version. I managed to root it and get a european version on it, goldcard method.
Then i saw some guide on how i could get 2.1 on it.
The actual state now: i can get in fastboot mode, not allowd erase/boot/flash. I have a coldcard but when i try any SAPPIMG.zi/nbh i get "main version older!" or when i try with a ruu, it just cannot flash. the log gives the same thing: main version older.
among the errors i got from ruu: FAILED (remote: 41 model id check fail)
<OUT>g the signature contained in this image...</OUT>
</DEBUG></T182246>
<T182312><DEBUG><OUT>FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)</OUT>
PLEASE HELP!!!
You're in the SPL, not fast boot because you didn't flash an engineering SPL when you rooted the thing. So no, flash/erase ect commands will not work.

You have radio/spl mismatch...
You got to fix that before you can proceed.
Follow my instructions:
Download this to begin with while you READ.
http://rapidshare.com/files/45099641...al_sappimg.zip
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ EVERYTHING I WRITE.
The problem is: the device has conflicting spl and radio combo. The spl has an idea of where the radio should be and how big it is ect. When they are not matching the flash of a new radio will most likely fail.
To fix this problem, we need to flash a spl compatible with the 6.35 radio.
Here comes the trick: I have found a special rom, which is part of a 2-part update.
Once the spl is updated and the system restarted, we can now flash any ruu we want using the goldcard.
The steps to follow:
1) Read and understand the above.
2) Rename special_sappimg.zip to sappimg.zip
3) Make sure that you have a working goldcard and flash the sappimg.zip
4) Once the device has rebooted, we need to flash the stock rom and you should almost be there...
Post the progress and we will take it from there.
Hope that you will succeed... :0)
thank you very much, I will try and report back
what is "we need to flash the stock rom and you should almost be there..." ?
Can you give me a rom link fit?
a bit sorry for bad english, I'm a Vietnam
you should probably use this tool next time: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794450

As he states, the tool (which is programmed by me and a newer version is to be found in my signature) is only valid if you have an eng spl or s-off.
The steps i gave is to fix the mismatch which is the primary problem now... all other solutions will be futile until the issue has been dealt with.
