HTC Magic, Vodafone NZ Issues - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hello all,
I'm having some serious issues with my Magic.
I used theunlockr.com's goldcard method of rooting the magic, and i managed to root the phone successfully, however i reverted back to unrooted as i could not boot any custom ROM's (particularity Cyanogen's 5.0.7), they would just hang at the vodafone's splash screen. So i have reverted back to an unrooted state using the .nbh I got from these boards, Amon_RA's [How-To] Root and un-root the T-Mobile myTouch 3G (sorry i am unable to post the link due to forum restrictions)
Now i am running 1.5 unrooted, but my problems get worse here.
Current details:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0009 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-3.22.20.17
I can use fastboot and boot to a custom recovery image, but i can only boot to 32A recoveries (Amon_RA's), have tried several versions, still can only boot to the 32A's.
while in the recovery menu, i am unable to apply any Zip files, they either come back as corrupted or verification failure (not signed). I have tried many different files many different times.
I am unable to flash the recovery partition using the fastboot command with the SDK, i am using windows XP.
Can anyone offer any help? I have spent countless hours searching for a reason why this would be happening.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You did wrong way to unroot. Flashed 32A RUU to your 32B Magic
and got 3.22.20.17 radio (32A, but works on 32B too with restrictions)
To get your Magic fully 32B - you must flash official RUU for 32B Magics ... or ...
this nbh for UK Vodafone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4884067&postcount=1
p.s. nbh for UK, so you probably need create goldcard as you have Vodafone NZ
Goldcard avoids Customer ID check

Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't seem to work.
I tried to apply the smappimg using my normal micro SD, i got "Signature Incorrect".
I tried to apply the smappimg using my Goldcard, I got "Main Version Older".
I even re-downloaded the file and i also re-created my Goldcard, using the guide from theunlokr.com.
Any other ideas?

Trouble flashing new ROM - Please Help!

Hello All,
I have been trying for the past few hours to root my HTC Magic 32B (Vodafone UK) and flash Cyanogen to get me some android 2.2!
The phone was on Android 1.6 before i started the process. I have since managed to roll it back to the vulnerable 1.5 version using a goldcard and sapping.zip
I have also managed to push RA-sapphire-v1.7.0H onto the phone.
Now every time i wipe and then flash any of the cyanogen ROMs using the recovery mode, it hangs at the Vodafone screen when booting. Now I had a look around and there were suggestions of trying a different ROM. I tried this and get the same result every time. I have installed 4 different versions of Cyanogen as well as numerous other ROMS.
An interesting point, I have a magic 32b and yet when trying to push the 'G' version of the recovery-RA file, the phone does not turn up under 'adb devices' but when pushing the H version, the phone responds as it should and loads the correct recovery file. I have tried both 32A and 32B ROMs to no avail they both still lock up at the Vodafone splash screen
I can restore to 1.5 without any problems, but I dont want to be stuck on this version of Android
A little info about the phone:
Firmware version: 1.5
Build Number: 2.16.151.1 146733 CL#31685 test-keys

Many thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
There is guide on wiki.cyanogen you must be ona 1.5 version just read whole guide and it will be a success
If you have RA -h recovery working use it to flash hboot 1.33.2009
Then boot into fastboot and issue
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
Here you can either boot onto recovery and flash the ebi1 version of cm. (Yes historical for 32a but seems your newer rom is using the 32a radio)
Or install a 2.x radio via fastboot (you must not flash it from recovery or you will brick your phone)
Last I checked cm wiki deals with 32a radios on 32b devices badly

1) You see the last "H" in the first line of your info?
That means you need to use H-recovery and not G-recovery!!!
First problem solved....
2) You see the radio version 3.22.20.17?
Thats is only for 32A boards.. be lucky that you did not brick your device..
You need this radio and only this radio: 2.22.19.26I
But there is something wrong with combination of the info you wrote..
All 32B devices have G as the last letter in the first line of thire spl..
Are you sure that what you wrote is correct?
To solve this, flash back your stock version... use RUU or whatever... No sappimg or goldcard...
Just bring back the phone to where is was when you got it from the shop.
Then follow this guide made by me:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756942
it will root you device in 5 mins... and for 5 min extra you get custom recovery and engineer spl( <-optionel)... FULL CONTROL OF DEVICE, the right way!

This is FUD .. thats why its not bricked.
3.x = EBI1 (The -h recovery [magic] and -r recovery [dream*] is EBI1)
2.x = EBI0 (The -g recovery [magic] and default recovery [dream*] is EBI0)
* Please don't install the dream recovery on the magic it won't work its missing a config file for sapphire
both magic 32a/32b can run both
HOWEVER you must have the correct kernel to boot the device and if you have a 3.x radio and flash a radio from recovery you will brick since your current recovery can't boot after the flash.
Easiest is as I said install the engineering SPL that also supports both radios and fastboot yourself a stable system.
(the only reason its not booting with the EBI1 magic32a rom now is probably its not being properly wiped)
As far as using fastboot to restore a 2.x radio and -G recovery:
32A devices (ignoring the fender for the moment) will not be able to use all their memory on a 2.x radio
32B devices run the same on both radios; however more roms assume you have a 2.x radio.
If you go to cyanogens website, the EBI1 kernel should be available in the downloads. Just reflash the 5.0.8.zip, then flash the EBI1.zip, and then GAPPS.
EDIT: Here you go http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/394-cyanogenmod-5-for-dreammagic-mean-lean-pastry-machine-v508-06192010/.

Flashed 32B radio on 32A, Now showing as 32B in Fastboot, No Recovery

I have a T-Mobile branded MT3G 1.2 that I flashed today's CM nightly onto and the screen got the green tint issue. I looked into it and read I need to flash pershoot's kernal to fix it, but i needed the new radio (I had the 2.22 and all the 32A kernels said they were for 3.22).
I tried to fastboot the 32A radio, but got an error because it was a perfected SPL (I think thats why, at least), so I tried to flash an ENG SPL for 32A, using the files for reverting back from 6.35.07 radio to 3.22 for the 32A from gadget-space.com I flashed the HBOOT.zip using RomManager, and when I rebooted, the phone did not get past the splash screen. Couldn't boot into recovery but fastboot works.
now it's showing this in the fastboot info:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.33.2010 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
RADIO-3.22.20.17

No matter what HBOOT I flash, i can't get it to change back to showing 32A. Also I've tried reflashing Amon Ra's Recovery and still can't get back into there.
Any ideas on how to get this phone working again?
I did the same thing as you trying to install the official T-mobile Froyo OTA ported for the 32A. After flashing the radio and spl I could no longer get the phone to boot or go into recovery. The only thing I could do was fastboot. After trying half a dozen SAPPIMG.zip files I managed to find the correct one. All I had to do was put the SAPPIMG.zip onto the sd card, put it in my phone, fastboot to hboot and it should unzip the SAPPIMG and install on your phone. Not sure if this will work for you but it's worth a shot.
found the unrooted imgboot.zip, flashed it and re-rooted with androoter, now all is well.
Now that I have this back to a working phone, should i update the radio?
I have no idea but now that I'm back to stock 1.6 I think I'm just gonna wait for the T-Mobile official OTA Froyo for the 32A. It should be out fairly soon and it'll be better than any 2.2 rom you'll find online since it was designed specifically for the 32A and not ported over or anything.
Where did you find the unrooted img.zip i been looking all over the net?

[Q] HTC Magic 32B, messed up recovery, then everything else

Hello,
my magic is in really bad shape after some bad decisions:
After wiping and flashing Yoshi's Gingerbread 7.1 the phone started to reboot itself randomly. It worked perfectly with previous versions of this rom. Reading the forums some people said it had to do with the recovery and how some didn't wipe certain partitions, and recomended to use Clockwork recovery instead. Here's the first bad decision, I was lazy and used the market app to flash it (rom manager?), and since then I couldn't boot into recovery any more.
Now, after wiping every partition I can't use adb, and being unable to flash anything with fastboot ("FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)"), what can I do?
With fastboot boot recovery it freezes in "booting...". I also tried flashing the recovery through terminal emulator, didn't work (throwed lot of hex addresses).

Thanks for your time!
Solved.
Used HTC's RUU. The phone's back to stock conditions. Will be rooting and doing everything else again soon.
Hi,
Would you be able to elaborate on where you download the RUU and how you used it to fix the problem? I've got a similar situation, my phone bootloops, the recovery is inoperable, but I can get into hboot. Thanks!
Hi,
You cand download the RUU from here:
http://www.htc.com/es/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=246&cat=2&dl_id=882
The install process is very simple. You only need to turn on the phone on fastboot mode and execute the .exe (on a Windows machine).
Regards
Do you know if this will be compatible with my phone and its current setup?
Here's my info from hboot

It's a T-Mobile Mytouch 3g.
Thanks!
I'm not sure, I'd say not being this for vodafone. I have no clue how that would affect the mytouch. Maybe there is a RUU for the t-mobile version?

My friend updated this phone with errors. Now I can run it only in RUU mode. PC found a phone and I can connect by fastboot and turn-off phone (by fastboot oem powerdown), but I can't load any recovery..
I tried official RUU installer, but there say that I must download other version.
I tried boot few recovery, but nothing happend when booting .
I tried also downgrade radio or SPL, but I need working device.
There is any solution to bring to life a phone or this is brick?
When you are running RUU, it will create log in c:\ruu_log
Post it to review errors

Ok. According your log info...
- Your phone has label 3.54.631.3 ROM (but probably does not have system image with this rom)
- You tried to install ROM that has lower version than 3.54.631.3 (remote: 43 main version check fail)
- It is main problem if you have not canadian rogers phone
1. You need create goldcard (search on xda for manual)
2. With goldcard you can successfully install 3.54.631.3 RUU and your phone will work.
3. After that if you want custom you can get root (use SuperOneClick), flash custom recovery (AmonRa 1.6.2 patched by cursordroid or HTC Hero recovery), then flash hboot 1.76.2007 and custom ROM via recovery...
p.s. if you have additional questions, you can always write me in PM...
