By knowing obvious two ways of taking screenshot using S-pen and Palm sweep,
yesterday i discovered 3rd way which is by pressing lock button and home button simultaneously !
I dont know how many of us know this, just thought sharing, but nowhere i have read about this.
And if you really didn't knew this, being "Noob" i would really like to see something on my Thanks meter
Most of us know it I guess but thanks anyways
I didn't know it, thanks. probably won't use it though a its a little more awkward than the other 2 ways

Actually pressing the lock button and home button simultaneously is quite easy... ive been doing that since i got my note. That was how I used to take screen caps with my iphone
Maybe in landscape

how do you capture using palm sweep? i saw the video on youtube but can't seem to duplicate it. is there a setting i need to enable before i can do this?
You should just have to Swipe your hand from the right hand side of the screen to the left

Left to right works also, learn something new everyday

I don't really find the hand swipe convenient
Most convenient method is hand swipe but 9 out of 10 times, I can't get it to work. I always end up with the other 2 methods.

Coming from iPhone (besides my BB days) this was a natural gesture I tried when I got my note. Still, I usually need a screenshot when I am going to annotate it with my SPen, so button+screen press is my preferred action.
I can't seam to get the swipe motion to work. Are you guys using one finger? 2, 3, 4? The Palm? right at the middle of the screen? the top? bottom? I tried them all, can't seam to get it to work.
The Lock/Home Button method seams to work on most android devices by default.

You do know that pressing the button on the pen and holding the stylus on the Note will take a screen shot, plus bring up the S-Pen annotation tools right? It would be faster to do it that way rather then save the screen shot, then go to the gallery and annotate the photo after the fact.

use the side of your hand. Too hard to apply even pressure across the entire screen otherwise.

use the edge of the palm below index finger and slide it from left to right or right to left. It helps applying uniform pressure on ample amount of pixels......
Just found a new trick well new to me with your phone off and on a flat service swipe the screen and it tells you the time any missed calls and battery life
I thought it was a cool trick
This was the first feature I found when I got the device (which was a week and half ago now).
You really should explore the s-pen and motion settings more often

looks nice
i will try
There's a tutorial for this feature in the motion settings, you're not actually supposed to touch the screen to trigger it as it works using the proximity sensor.

I see a few sec delay after i cover my hand over a phone and screen info , is it normal ?cause i have custom Rom. In the tutorials section when i cover my hand screen goes on without delay
Well just saw that this will turn the proximity censor on all the time which will drain the battery

Go to motion turn on quick glance
I thought he Quick Glance was not working for me. It works more easily in the tutorials, but not IRL. When using it IRL, (especially in a bright room) I have to hover my hand over the sensor for some time to get it to activate.
Just found this out, excuse me if you already knew this.
1. Go to your home screen (or any scrollable area)
2. Press the S-Pen nib with your finger and try scrolling without touching the screen.
PROFIT! :good:
PS: You can also press the nib with Airview to click/tap an item
Probably not gonna use it often, but cool to know
I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean. I tried and nothing happens. My S-Pen scrolls pges without touching if I go towards the edge of the screen. Top,bottom, lef or right´

Did you try pressing the nib and swiping in the air (holding it relatively close to the screen, obviously)? It does bring swype like functionality, as opposed to edge scroll. Also you can just press the nib to click without touching the screen.
Probably pointless, but it's fun
To me this just sounds like an extra sensitive pen to me.
If you bring up the keyboard, does it press on keys without touching them?

So it's just me who's able to tap/swype without touching the screen and just pressing the nib?

If this is problem for you than try this trick.
Hit your spen nib on hard surface .lightly off course. .
This happens because nib is stuck.
my S pen did this.
good trick.. But some times its awkward to hold the nib like that

I tested using my n2 pen with the n3 and its much more smoth and faster response... dunno if i should replace the unit, just got mine today
I've been playing with my N3 since yesterday configuring it like my N2. S Pen and finger response seems more sensitive than on the N2. In fact, my N2 had an area in the upper right corner that wasn't as sensitive as the rest of the display that I'm glad to be away from.

You shouldn't need to do that. It's not for the S Pen it's for the Synaptic overlay for using your finger. That setting makes the display more sensitive when using gloves.

I have the black version and the bottom of the screen, the bottom right being the worst is really bad. You have to press over twice as hard to get it to work compared to the middle of the screen. I still have 12 days to take mine back, aside from this its a nice phone but...I have the note 2 and I really dont think this is worth 708$ LOL Im thinking I might wait for the note 4

Yes I have the white one.
1st note I've had , I love it but I've noticed that using the S PEN screen sensitivity seems to diminish and even swiping across home screens using the S PEN seems to drop frames. I tried ticking the setting which I think makes it worse. Maybe it's a faulty S PEN because every thing is fine when it's in it's slot .
It works!
Wow just tried the adjustment and it works like a charm. Just took me awhile to find a screwdriver small enough. Definitely going to try this adjustment on my other spens

Adjusting the sensitivity screw is actually part of the process of calibrating the pen when you buy an Intuos.
Dropping or slapping it, however, is not. But works rather well, too. It solved it for me, anyway. (Had the same issues of low sensitivity in bottom part. Black pen.)
No I have the black 1 but same issues.

I posted a question in regards to this on Q&A section of the forum but no one was answering my question. I went ahead and did a bit more research. I finally figured out the way to change the sensitivity.
I have seen people asking in the past about this so I decided to post it here.
Note: root is required unfortunately. You will need a root file manager in order to save the file after editing. (Es file Explorer works well for me and it's free)
First, if you are using Es file Explorer, you need to enable root explorer on the manu, then locate the file:
/system/usr/idc/max1187x_touchscreen_0.idc
Opened it as text, I chose to use Es note editor that came with the Es file Explorer
Under '# Touch Filter' you can see
'touch.filter.level = 2'
Change the number to higher to make the screen less sensitive and lower to make the screen more sensitive.
Save and restart the phone.

To clarify, this is to change how far your finger(s) have to be from the screen to be registered as a 'touch', correct? I've had an issue where my thumb would hover over a button and accidentally press it, more than a few times. If this fixes that then I guess I don't have to make a question thread of my own haha
What value did you end up settling on for sensitivity?
Dude. I thought I was going crazy. The screen is too sensitive on mine. A zillion times it would register a touch when my thumb hovered over it, sometimes a long press response. Glad to see I wasn't imagining it.

well sort of...I think it's related to how hard you need to press the screen as well, so I would call it sensitivity instead.
I had the same issue as you that's why I tried to figure out a way to make it better.
3 works fine for me, but you might want to change it to your liking. don't go nuts and set it to 10 or something. otherwise, you will have to press the screen really hard to get some a response.

Hmmm...Sorry I don't really know how to do that. I assume it's one of those parameters in that file.
It's also a good thing tho I'm thinking it's super sensitive so that a pencil could work. I use my pencil so often I thinks it's so cool and don't understand why Sony didn't advertise this pencil feature because it does work really well.

Not to me. If they want it to be a feature, at least give people an option to disable it. It really irritates me.
After playing around with the "touch.filter.level", I realised it makes NO improvement on the stylus...
My issue I have with the stylus is that when scrolling, it often registers a "lift" and "touch", thus selecting stuff inadvertently...
I need to reduce the touch area that registers a constant touch, like a scroll...
Anyone clued up with the other settings? SONY Devs?
UPDATE: I turned on GLOVE MODE in Settings-->Display and then changed touch.gloveMode.deflatePressure = 1 to 0.1. Working like a charm now.
My Z2 also has this hypersensitivity problem, it reacts without my thumb even touching the screen, just by getting close to it. This is extremely annoying.
I'm trying this to solve my problem, but the screen sensitivity doesn't change, no matter which value I put in the touch.filter.level, I tried from 0.1 to 50 and nothing changed.
Is this really a software problem? or is it a hardware problem?
Was this made on porpose by Sony? Because for me it is really annoying, the screen registers unwanted touches all the time and when i'm playing something, it also annoys me.
screen sensitivity is a Firmware issue with Xperia Z2. sony has said they are working on fixing in upcoming firmwares (it had a s at the end so this probably means that sony ment it wont ever be fixed... any time soon)
static can cause ghost touched with xperia Z2 to my experiance.
I also have the screen sensitive issue. Have tried to change some values from the file, but no effect. Finally, I've solved the issue by using a tempered glass
