By knowing obvious two ways of taking screenshot using S-pen and Palm sweep,
yesterday i discovered 3rd way which is by pressing lock button and home button simultaneously !
I dont know how many of us know this, just thought sharing, but nowhere i have read about this.
And if you really didn't knew this, being "Noob" i would really like to see something on my Thanks meter
Most of us know it I guess but thanks anyways
I didn't know it, thanks. probably won't use it though a its a little more awkward than the other 2 ways

Actually pressing the lock button and home button simultaneously is quite easy... ive been doing that since i got my note. That was how I used to take screen caps with my iphone
Maybe in landscape

how do you capture using palm sweep? i saw the video on youtube but can't seem to duplicate it. is there a setting i need to enable before i can do this?
You should just have to Swipe your hand from the right hand side of the screen to the left
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Left to right works also, learn something new everyday

I don't really find the hand swipe convenient
Most convenient method is hand swipe but 9 out of 10 times, I can't get it to work. I always end up with the other 2 methods.

Coming from iPhone (besides my BB days) this was a natural gesture I tried when I got my note. Still, I usually need a screenshot when I am going to annotate it with my SPen, so button+screen press is my preferred action.
I can't seam to get the swipe motion to work. Are you guys using one finger? 2, 3, 4? The Palm? right at the middle of the screen? the top? bottom? I tried them all, can't seam to get it to work.
The Lock/Home Button method seams to work on most android devices by default.

You do know that pressing the button on the pen and holding the stylus on the Note will take a screen shot, plus bring up the S-Pen annotation tools right? It would be faster to do it that way rather then save the screen shot, then go to the gallery and annotate the photo after the fact.

use the edge of the palm below index finger and slide it from left to right or right to left. It helps applying uniform pressure on ample amount of pixels......

Has anyone else switched to quick controls in honeycomb's browser, by going to settings->Labs? It gives you all the menu items in a semi-circle at your finger too just from swiping along the edge of the screen. I have since day one and am not gng back! I haven't seen anyone comment on this awesome, somewhat hidden, feature, so I thought I would attempt to bring it to everyines attention.
in fact I love it so much I wish it was integrated throughout the rest if the os. I often find myself swiping the side of the screen attempting to use the back button or whatever else. Then sadly I realize I am not in the browser and begrudgingly reach down to the bottom left corner...
If you guys have tried it let me know what you think. If you havn't, give it a whirl and post back
I tried it, but couldn't get it in to it. You have to swipe very close to the edge of the screen, so the popup wouldn't appear several times because I wasn't swiping close enough to the edge. It seems like it would be good, but it needs a little work. Maybe they've fixed it or there are some settings that I didn't look at.

I have never had it not register...perhaps you're doing it wrong.
Simply move your finger from the bezel to the screen on the left or right sides of screen, like you are pulling the menu out. Move your finger to the option you want and release.

I often catch myself swiping when using a 3rd party browser. Long pressing a page brings focus back to the tab as well so its the best of both worlds.
It does however confuse others when they want to check out my Xoom haha.
Yeah I love this option as well.. Took me a little while to figure it out as well.. Make sure your swiping closed to the middle as well because otherwise all the options wont be visible.
Yeah, honestly, my only complaint is that it registers sometimes when I am trying to click a link near the edge of the screen. But doesn't happen very often and a precise touch or quick zoom remidies this.
It is a nice option but I do not like the fact that it hides all of the other controls that are much easier to simply tap with one touch. I realize that it adds more screen real estate but it just doesn't seem easier to use to me. Maybe it is just me.

Agree... would be nice if this was done by toggle so you could have both if you want.

The only thing I would like added is a "close tab" button. To anyone having issues activating the option wheel, you don't just touch the edge of the touchscreen...you start with your finger off the screen on the bezel and drag it on from the side.
I love it too. At first it seemed a little flakey but the more I use it the more it's become second nature.

When there are multiple tabs open, they appear across the top just like before. To get another tab use the + (plus) sign.
There are different controls in others corners. This seems to make the browser faster. Thanks for the tip...

http://jjpda.blogspot.com/2012/01/how-to-calibrate-galaxy-note-s-pen.html
i am not the only one
Same results on my end and the center point where the pen starts to write can really need some calibration.. I dont really use the pen that much but it irritates me when I do want to use it and end up starting to draw or line something out of my "target"
On the blog posted by Qvp, there was a comment which i find very useful:

open a S-memo, choose the eraser option.
while holding the pen on the screen change
the angle of the pen. You will see the tip
'move' inside the eraser circle. now get used
to the angle in which the tip is in the center
and your drawing will be dead on, and you will
be able to even draw in those 'seemingly dead'
corners aswell....

The only thing i have to mention is to reduce the eraser size and make it small to be very accurate with finding you pen "golden" angle.
I hope this helps!

It is a software problem. The devs have forgotten how to switch on multiple axe systems for the same space depending from the angle/point you see the area. So they sucked it with a simple solution the just move the drawing area and not the tip of the pen. To prove that go to the SPEN setting and put left hand dominating and redo this test and you WILL see what happens on the left side of the screen.
And trust me Samsung or at the developers who did that knew because they fixed it, let call it so, i would say hiding it on memo they put a none draw layer on the EDGE to hide it, but they forgot the SPEN test and the photo EDITOR

No reply? Someone should try and find a fix for this thing
They probably will not fix it, nor anyone will because the ics update will fix this. Ics has pen input built in.
The issue is not present in older Roms, this is why i left kl8 and back to kk5, which is better, smother and dont have this problem of touch screen.

Hello,
Just picked up my 16GB S3 and none of the motion stuff works including the Palm Swipe. I can't even take Screenshot with Home + Power?
I followed you tube instructions and on how to swipe etc, but no go. The only thing was that the batt was at 10%, I am charging it now but is this a power issue? or do I have a broke piece and if yes, is it the s/w or the h/w issues
EDIT: I was waving my hand instead of kissing it over the screen. I did the tutorials for the motion and they work as well
Hi
Hi there, I have the same problem. Did you figure out why? I can't save any pictures at all!
It does work for me . ACtivate the motion and the Palm swipe to capture. You need to put the side of your on the screen from left to right.
hmm, the easiest one to check is the screenshot or the auto contact call one, turn it on. go to messaging app and open a thread with someone you are texting and just put the phone to your ear, it will auto dial the person.. try that one
I think there are some bugs with the SGH-I747M. I have tried on 4 different phones and none of them allow the palm screenshot
Also the tap to top only works on a couple apps
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk 2
I had problems too until I found out the you DON'T use your palm. You have to swipe from right to left with the side of your hand (karate chop basically ). After I figured that out it has been working without problems. It's a little tricky taking a screenshot with home+power as you have to do it with perfect timing for it to work, but once you figure that out it's pretty simple. Not as easy as my iPad though but still fairly easy now.
Hope that helps
Screenshot with the power and home button need to be held down until it takes the picture. Don't just hit them quickly.
With the motion screenshot your karate chop hand needs to touch the screen as your swiping from right to left.

The palm screenshot thing isn't even worth using since you have to be touching the screen to do it and it always manages to change things on the screen while you are trying to swipe your hand across to screenshot. Home+Power works a lot better.

Wasted all kinds of time trying to sort this out. When will I learn to Google first? Would have saved me all kinds of frustration
Just found a new trick well new to me with your phone off and on a flat service swipe the screen and it tells you the time any missed calls and battery life

I tested using my n2 pen with the n3 and its much more smoth and faster response... dunno if i should replace the unit, just got mine today
I've been playing with my N3 since yesterday configuring it like my N2. S Pen and finger response seems more sensitive than on the N2. In fact, my N2 had an area in the upper right corner that wasn't as sensitive as the rest of the display that I'm glad to be away from.

You shouldn't need to do that. It's not for the S Pen it's for the Synaptic overlay for using your finger. That setting makes the display more sensitive when using gloves.

I have the black version and the bottom of the screen, the bottom right being the worst is really bad. You have to press over twice as hard to get it to work compared to the middle of the screen. Yes I have the white one.
1st note I've had , I love it but I've noticed that using the S PEN screen sensitivity seems to diminish and even swiping across home screens using the S PEN seems to drop frames. I tried ticking the setting which I think makes it worse. Maybe it's a faulty S PEN because every thing is fine when it's in it's slot .
It works!

Adjusting the sensitivity screw is actually part of the process of calibrating the pen when you buy an Intuos.
Dropping or slapping it, however, is not. But works rather well, too. It solved it for me, anyway. (Had the same issues of low sensitivity in bottom part. Black pen.)
