Hello,
Unfortunately, the ATT 501 only has 3g when under an ATT network. There is no "unlock code" available, as they are generated by ATT based on the specific tablet's IME code. You will find this information on the Sim/Sd card cover along with serial number. Basically, they run the IME code in their generator, and it spits out the unlock code.
The bad thing, is that you have to deal with ATT Support several times, before they will give the unlock code. It's the only way to get it.
You can try Acer support, however, I believe they will eventually send you to ATT support. But you can start there.
Lately, ATT states the first time you e-mail them, that as of August 20, they no longer provided the unlock code. This is not true.
You have to e-mail them, several times. Always include your serial number and the IME code on that cover I told you about. Don't let them win.
But remember, always be nice to them, explain the situation, and I believe eventually they will give you the unlock code. Just remember, be nice and include the information with every e-mail. And if that doesn't work, ask them to "escalate" the issue to a higher person. This procedure has worked several times in the past, and may take a month. Just be calm about it.
Good luck to you.

Hey Guys,
Moscow Desire - I read your other post about unlocking a501 couple months ago, it just took me a while before I got myself to write ACER an email. I pretty much anticipated the game of back and forth communication to unfold as you described, however at the beginning of this month I got the response that: "As of 8/21/12, AT&T will not be supplying the unlock codes for the A501 tablets. Therefore we will no longer be able to process your request." I just wrote them a second email to see how it will play out, as you mentioned earlier, persistence is probably the key here. On the other hand I figured that I’d start the process with AT&T since it's a slow one!!!
So, the question to anyone reading, do you guys have a direct customer support email to AT&T??? (one that actually works or one through/from which you communicated with AT&T)
Any additional info from anyone with experience or further down in the process is welcomed.
I'll keep an update on how things are progressing.
Thanks!

Unlocking Cingular 8525

Please help for I'm at a loss. I'm new, but I've tried to read all the posts about unlocking the Herm100. I've finally got the nerve to execute Auto_unlock_v3.bat. I did end up with the tri-color bootloader that showedHERM100, IPL-1.01 and SPL-1.40.01 Olipro. But the the rest of the procudure did not complete. At that point I was able (with active sync disabled ) to connect with the computer via USB and the "serial" indication on the tri-color changed to "USB". Because of lack of success, I shifted to "Manual Instructions". Upon executing SSPL-Herm.exe on the device I got the tri-color screen as anticipated but the Info read IPL-SSPL by Des and SPL-1.09. ds. When I connected the USB to the computer, the computer stated that I had an unknown device and that the USB was not recognized. The "serial" in the white tr-color stayed "serial" and I could proceed no further. Later, when I restarted my bootloader again, I got IPL-1.01 and SPL-1.40.Olipro. Should I maybe not run the SSPL-Herm.exe and proceed to run RUU_HERM_unlock_v3a.exe via the bootloader that allowed me the USB connnection? Please help . this is my first post.
Me too
After successfully updating my 8125 last week I thought updating my 8525 would be no problem...
I ended up with the same scenario as the above post.
I'll be honest with you. I had this little dilemma not too long ago and discovered that unless you want to pay close to $50.00 to get it unlocked from one of those unlocker sites, you MUST request from AT&T to process your subsidy unlock code. Almost all wireless carriers that sell phones with their branded name on the device or on the splash screen are locked to that specific carrier, for marketing or whatever the company desires. You must obtain your IMEI number, (just enter *#06# on your keypad) call AT&T customer service, request a subsidy unlock code, (just tell them you plan on using the device overseas and are not interested in their overseas calling plan they will then try to sell you) and wait about 1-2 weeks for an email reply. Trust me when I say this, AT&T has NO IDEA what the code is or what the status is once they have submitted the request. It is transferred to their "Tier III" tech support division, which is why it takes so long to respond. Just wait it out, and your patience will pay off when you receive the email. I'm sure you know that once you get the unlock code, all you must do then is insert a SIM from any carrier other than AT&T, reboot, and your hermes will prompt you to enter subsidy unlock code. It is usually either an 8 or 9 digit code. Be careful when entering, as too many wrong attempts will "Brick" your device. It is then you will be able to use T-mobile's service. I also had my number ported to T-mobile's network...All you have to do for that is ask T-mobile(Don't tell AT&T) to port your number for you and ther's not a damn thing AT&T can do about it. Now. As far as ROM flashing is concerned, I had to learn by thumbing through the wiki, anf forums and making many posts like yourself. First, as described by ultramag, you MUST install HardSPLv7 on your phone. once that's done and you have verified via your bootloader screen (pwr+ok+reset sw) It should say something along the lines of HERM100 IPL-1.04/HERM100 SPL-2.10.Olipro-----> Then you can start looking at flashing ROMs. Don't worry about flashing Radio ROM, that's not necessary. Any questions, send me a msg.... Good luck flashing!!!
For beginners it's always best to start at the beginning. Go HERE to a page that I created for new members that has links to EVERYTHING you may need to know about fixing your phone, flashing ROMS and Radios, etc.
Best wishes,
Unlock 8525
stevebonning, thanks for your help . I'm also grateful to fredline12002 for answering my plea. I'll get right on to reading the links and studying more. Here's a little background on what prompted me to post on the forum:
Bought the 8525 as a refurbished phone on E-bay.
Contacted AT&T to get the unlock code. I used the 15 digit IMIE# printed inside the phone, behind the battery.
AT&T affiliates sent me an 8 digit unlock code and stated in the email:
"You only have five (5) tries to unlock the phone:
Do not attempt to enter the code more than five (5) times total.
If this process is unsuccessful five times in a row, the phone will be permanently locked to the AT&T network."
I have already tried 4 times without success. I have one try left. Each time the 8 digit number was input, the phone seemed to not accept the number unless it was one digit more. I had to input another digit in order to proceed forward.
Suspecting a wrong IMIE#, I used *#06# to confirm. This IMIE was now a 17 digit number. It was the same as the original but had additional digits of "01" at the end.
I called At&T and advised them of the IMIE with the additon of digits "01" and asked them about possibility of a wrong unlock code. They said the additional digits did not make a diiference. They referred me to HTC Support.
Help from HTC support was fruitless.
I then bought services of a remote unlocking service from CA. The Procedure aborted and unlocking was unsuccessful. Money was lost.
I then started reading Xda-Developers Wiki and threads and attempted unlocking on my own. Thus my original post.
Since my post I have again run AUTO_Unlock_v3a.bat. The program this time indicated success. But, when I booted up with a pre-paid T-Mobile sim card the phone asked again for an unlock code.
I don't understand what is happening and what I need to do. Thanks for the links, I'll keep on researching more.
Unlock 8525
Success!!! Thanks.
I just unlocked my 8525 after talking with ATT, gave them my IMEI number, waited on hold for 5 minutes, entered the code after inserting a T-Mobile SIM card, and it unlocked just fine.
withOUT needing to run that updater.
I have CRCv12 ROM and olipro, and have updated the radio a few times in the past, so that may be why I didn't have any issues.
But, I now have my Fuze! Buhbye Hermes!!!

Recommendations for sim-unlock

Hi there,
I did some searching a few days ago on here, and saw some people saying they had success with HTCGate for unlocking.
So I paid my money and gave them my IMEI and waited... and waited... and ... still waiting, not a peep from them, fired off an email yesterday but no reply.
My HD2 is currently locked to O2 UK, and i'm moving my SIM over to vodafone this week so really need to find somewhere *reliable* online who can unlock it quickly?
Any recommendations from people who've actually had it done?
Many thanks
I used www.unlockitnow.com to unlock my HD2. I was on T-Mobile.
Unlocked code delivered successfully in less than 8 hours.
ccristal
Thanks Ccristal,
Have no ordered one with them, and hopefully will have more luck than the awful service at htcgate.
Where did you buy your HD2 from? If you got it from O2 directly, request an unlocking code from them. It'll take up to 28 days, but is free.
Got my code overnight from www.unlockitnow.com much better than the jokers at htcgate, thanks Ccristal

Unlocking Touch pro 2
Hello I am trying to get my sprint TP2 to work on all US GSM services such as T-Mobile and ATT can anyone help me?
Erm, see above ^^ !?
Hi, I used HTCGATE.COM last night, paid at 6pm and was unlocked by 7pm.
The e-mails from them went into my hotmail junk-mail folder - maybe you want to check there? Hope it works out for you either way.
Over the last six weeks or so I have seen a lot of posts suggesting contacting O2 to get the HD2 'SIM unlocked' for free.
I was just wondering if anyone has actually received a code back from O2?
I applied via the online form on O2's website about six weeks ago and am still waiting for a code!
About a week ago I wrote to them asking why I haven't received my code yet (inluding the reference number I received back from them originally).
After about 3 days, they wrote back asking me for additional information (which I had already provided in the online form). I gave them this information and was told that they would submit my request to their Support Team IF I sent them another email requesting them to do it. But that it could take up to 28 days (ie ANOTHER 28 days!) for me to receive my code.
It looks to me as if O2 have no real intention of providing this code are are counting on the fact that most people will give up eventually...
Of course, if other members have received unlock codes back from O2, it could just be that I have been 'unlucky'. Hence my request for others to report back their experiences...

Thanks for that, Kai.
I have had the O2 SIM in my HD2 the whole time, so that's not the problem.
However, having read some of the posts on that thread, it struck me that I was never asked to provide my IMEI number!
They don't request it on the 'unlock form' and I'm pretty sure they didn't ask for it when I spoke to the guy on the phone about it.
I'm going to phone them tomorrow to chase them. No doubt they will tell me now that is the reason they could not provide a code!
Are you sure? If I remember correctly, you cannot submit the unlock request form without providing an IMEI number? (It's because of the issue that the HD2 supplies you with a 17 digit IMEI number when you type in *#06# - but the web form will only allow you to enter 15 digitis for the IMEI).
Are you sure you went to the correct place to request your unlock code? It can be found here:

I had my iPhone unlocked by them using that unlock request form. It took about 2 weeks before I got an SMS confirming it had been unlocked. The O2 SIM was in the phone the whole time.

That's definitely the form I used, Kai.
However, I'm not completely sure that I didn't provide the IMEI number. I just don't remember being asked to provide it. It WAS 6 weeks ago after all!
As you can see, it is not requested on the first page of the form, but maybe there was a 2nd page...
Anyway, I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what excuses they have to make.
I really just wanted to see if it was only me or whether everyone was having the same experience. So "Thank you" to everyone who has replied to say that it worked for them (Well, to you and _Belial, anyway...!)
Satayu Basu - htcgate.com Take care. I payed, I received one code but not working (Invalid unlock code). I am trying to contact them but no answer. So I've lost my 20$ and my vodafone Romania Leo is still locked
O2 dragging their feet on SIM unlock for HD2???
Update 18 Jan...
1. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - was told that system was down, please call back later!
2. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... was asked to wait while agent checked notes - agent cut me off!
3. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent cut me off as soon as I mentioned the word "unlatching" (O2's word for SIM unlocking)!
4. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent had never heard of 'unlatching'!... talked agent through the whole process... the best the agent could offer was to fill out another request form and advise me that it could take 'up to 28 days' before I receive my code!
It's a good job that a) I don't desperately need my phone unlocked and b) I know that sooner or later it will be available on this forum...
be patient. i received my unlock code off o2 eventually. was more than 28 days but i now have an unlocked HD2 which didn't cost a penny to do. as is mentioned make sure you edit and get the imei right. also it is emailed rather than text to you so make sure you get that right and don't stick a fake one down.
Thanks for that, Optiknerv.
It's interesting that you say you received your code via email as elsewhere I have heard it comes via SMS.
I did fill in my genuine email address on the form and I received a confirmation email to that address afterwards. However, what is interesting is that the third agent I spoke to quoted some email address I've never heard of ([email protected]) as the email address stored on the 'system'. This appears to be some internally generated address from O2 as the xxxxxxxxx is my name followed by about 6 digits! I haven'y got a clue as to how to access this account as it has nothing to do with my 'My O2' account!
I asked him to update my account with my correct address, just in case...

[POLL] Did you subsidy unlock (sim unlock) your G2?

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before choosing option 2 or 4 (G2 CAN NOT register to networks), open Settings > Wireless > Mobile Networks and attempt scanning for networks. If any networks appear in the list, pick option 1 or 3 regardless of whether you have voice/data access. Also, you may wish to try multiple sims, including the T-mo us sim included with the G2 package.
If you entered a subsidy unlock code in your T-Mo G2, please choose one of the poll options above. The purpose of this thread is to determine whether the source of the subsidy unlock code has any correlation with recent reports of G2s being rendered unable to register/see networks. Please see/reply to further discussion in the thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805024
Please only reply in this thread if you chose option "Other (specify in reply)". General discussion about this issue should be posted to the thread linked above.
My code is from unlock-now.com and I got the same code from freeyourhtc.com
I can not search for or connect to any network (as you probably all know by now)
(and sorry I did not read properly that I should only post if I select "Other")

It's fine, i'm just tryin to keep all the discussion in the other thread so we don't end up splitting the topic.
Results look inconclusive so far. Looks like we might be hunting down this radio problem for a while.
this poll should be Pin on top, otherwise will be down to 2-3 pages and ignore
I am very interested to see the results of this. I'm currently in Japan and waiting on the unlock code.

Is there any resolution to this problem? I bought an unlocking code from

I entered the code, it confirmed unlocked and rebooted. Now can't see any network with the original T-mobile SIM or local network. Want to use this unlocked phone here in Brazil.
Called HTC support, they say talk to T-mobile. Am I stuck?

If you need a code for your G2. PM me.
I can help you.
I got a code from TMO and i tried to use it but the code would not work. I figured it was becasue i got it for one G2 and use it for another G2.
Was going to wait until im settled on a good G2 before i asked for another unlock code but from what im reading it sounds like these codes will work on any phone.
Is that correct??

Code is unique to each IMEI. If you give T-mo the IMEI for G2 #1, it will only work for G2 #1. Entering it in G2 #2 will be pointless and possibly even dangerous if you attempt to enter the incorrect code too many times.
No luck
Got code from third party unlocking solution. Entered the code. Successful unlock message, reboot.
Now NO SERVICE. can not search for and register for any network.

Thanks that's what I figured.
So these other unlock codes must be a different type of code?
Other
I have an unlock code from T-Mobile (that matches my IMEI).
When I entered it, I got "unlock PIN: Unlock success, reboot immediately!! OK"
I pressed "OK" but the phone seemed to hang at that point. (The OK button stayed highlighted.)
After a minute I pulled the battery and rebooted. When it came back up (with foreign SIM still inserted) I got the "Enter unlock code" message. I didn't want to try again due to T-Mobile's warning that there are a limited number of attempts until the phone is permanently locked. (T-Mobile later told me the number was 3.)
After this, I put the T-Mobile SIM back in and it worked fine.
I called T-Mobile and after talking to four customer service reps, they finally found a memo describing this as an active problem and that they were working on it. I won't try again until I hear from them (or I get a software update.)

[Q] Obtained MSL unlock code from Sprint- still unable to unlock.

Hi guys,
I'm starting a new topic because the only information I could find was from 1 or 2 years ago, before Sprint started giving unlock codes after Feb. 2015.
I recently ported my number to T-Mobile and was unable to unlock my device before my service was severed. Now I am stuck in a rut and cannot get service on EITHER network.
After running around all day, trying to get Sprint stores to help, calling customer service, etc... I was finally able to chat with a Customer Service rep, pay my ETF balance (it had not been posted yet, I asked to pay early). After that, the rep gave me the 6 digit unlock code. I tried punching in *#0011# but I cannot access a menu, it just flashes
MENU NOT EXIST
PRESS BACK KEY
CURRENT COMMAND IS 1111
After that it just displays "No service".
The phone did not acknowledge the T-Mobile SIM at all. I did a network restore code (I forget the dial code) and now it says Invalid SIM Card- so, it knows the card is there.
I cannot get it to a point where it asks for the MSL number.
Can anyone please help? I'm tearing my hair out here.
Thanks,
-Tory
If anyone is going through this same problem, please see this thread and my experience doing this manually, starting with post 1456.
Don't despair! It's a huge pain to go through this if you're only a recreational Android user (like me), but it can be done if you do your homework and follow the steps slowly.
Thanks be to the board, and the people on it.

T-Mobile Galaxy S8 unlock with an Unlock Code

I have no Idea how to start but I will throw in whatever I have so far.
I ordered sim unlock from samsungsimunlock.com for $26 ($13 original price and $13 Pending Amount for Hard Locked phone). This morning I was provided the Unlock Code and an app called Network Unlock which looked like T-Mobile's device unlock app but was non functional. The instructions were clear, install the app and enter the unlock code when prompted, but only ended up with no Sim Unlock.
I checked Service Menu to find an option to enter Unlock Code but it was missing Phone Control menu option since T-Mobile restricted unlocks to their app.
Now I am wondering if I would be able to flash Verizon or ATT firmware and be able to enter the Unlock Code. I know people are still trying to figure out ways to install the firmware through Odin and no one has been successful so far. But I was just wondering if I would be able to change firmware to different carrier which has the option to enter unlock code.
Any replies or help would be really appreciated. And I can use my T-Mobile phone as test device if anyone has ideas.
You have to go through Tmobile's app if you have it locked to Tmobile's sim. Flashing another firmware may work but not guaranteed

I am facing the same problem...paid the $26.00 and got the code with the instructions. Followed everything and their app showed "Device is Permanently Unlocked" but when I tried another SIM card the phone showed that it was invalid and to use the T-Mobile unlock app
Working with the support people from samsungsimunlock.com right now but things don't look promising...
Did you reach out to samsungsimunlock.com or did you request a refund?
There code does not work at all and they are bs. I used blowfish unlocks and was able to get a code for the phone to be unlocked. The code works when you flash the rom for testing the phones. It accepts the code but when you reinstall the T-Mobile software the phone stays locked.
T-Mobile and there bul**** app... the app unlock server is down and I don't know if it will come back online. We will just have to wait for root and a unlock method
Just used the T-Mobile unlock app. It's been exactly 44 days since first use on the TMo network, so I gave it a shot. Easy peasy! Only needed a restart.
i just carried unlocked my s8+ from tmo,i send a message to T-force and they help me to unlock my phone in just 10 min,im from mexico and i bought it in brownsville tx
this site i explained to the after reading this and before ordering, they guaranteed me my phone will be unlocked which they failed to do ,now they dont reply to emails nor do they want to grant my refund requested

Just curious but when you said the code works when you flashed the rom for testing, did you try and then flash another carrier's rom (like AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon) rather than re-install the T-mobile software? Was it able to pick up a signal after it accepted the code while you were not on the T-mobile firmware?

There code does not work at all and they are bs. I used blowfish unlocks and was able to get a code for the phone to be unlocked. The code works when you flash the rom for testing the phones. It accepts the code but when you reinstall the T-Mobile software the phone stays locked.

Does that means if I flash another carrier's firmware phone will work? Or what do you mean by rom for testing?
via msl to unlock the phone by z3x box is no possible.
SamsungSimUnlock.com are a SCAM!!!
Dear XDA people looking to unlock your phones,
The post below, is just a copy of this post (ht tps://forum.xda-developers. com/showpost.php?p=73084963&postcount=117), but for convenience I've copied it here:
Do not, again, DO NOT use samsungsimunlock.com. They scam people into sending them codes. I was scammed out of $26. Their website states they refund the money if it doesn't work, they don't.
Here is what happens (I've broken it down in a number of steps):
1. You go to their website, and order an unlock code. It states that it is $13. Great. You then wait.
2. You receive this e-mail:
Dear xxxx,
we have checked your order and found that the Unlock Code for your Samsung phone is available in our 'High Range' database because your carrier has locked your phone with a highest level of encryption (almost all new models like s8/s8+ are hard locked)*and we have*to use a Special New 2017 Unlocking Tool (which cost more than normal)*to get the correct*unlock code for your hard locked*Samsung phone.
The final cost for unlocking your phone is*$26.00
Below are the details of your order:
Phone Model
Samsung Galaxy S8 (Vodafone_UK_server#2)
*
IMEI#
358793/08/000000/5
Paid Amount
$13.00
Pending Amount
$13.00
To finish the unlocking process for your Samsung phone*please click on this link*and pay additional $13.00 to make the total amount*$26.00
*
Kindly note:*the new price for the unlock code ($26.00) is still the lowest for your Samsung phone which is locked by the high level of encryption. We guarantee that you will not get official correct unlock code cheaper than this cost on any other website.
*
Thank you

4. You download the app, enter the code, and it says that your phone is permanently unlocked. You are happy, restart the phone, enter new sim, and find out that the phone is not unlocked at all.
You find out that the app is just a dummy app, and it doesn't matter what code you enter, it always says that it's permanently unlocked. It never is.
5. You reply to them, tell them that the code is not working, and they stall with various e-mails.
Stalling e-mail one:
Dear customer,
*
we’ve got unlock code for your phone directly from Vodafone server and this code is
in 100% working condition, it`s official factory sim unlock code provided by official carrier employees.
Seems like the problem on your side. Here is some useful recommendations.
*
Very often unlock code is not working because our customers flashing on
their phones custom ROM`s which includes custom basebands. These
changes in the structure of the radio module (baseband) are not acceptable
to unlock and this may be the reason why our code is not working. So
please make sure that your phone using original stock ROM and original
baseband firmware and your phone never was modified before.
*
Also here is some helpful advises:
-Try to reset your phone to factory settings.
-Make sure that sim card is not locked by PIN or PUK code
-Make sure that sim card which you put in your phone is activated and has
positive amount
-Make sure that your phone was not lost or stolen before because IMEI may be blacklisted
-Contact a person who gave\sold you this phone and ask make sure that phone was not refubrished by manufacturer before.
*
Additionally please contact your network operator, the problem also may be
in the high level of lock encryption for your sim card. Please ask
your carrier to change the level of encryption to normal that`s will make an
unlock code compatible with the sim card which you trying to activate.
*

All this time, I've complied with their requests for screenshots and stuff. So, after eight e-mails, it's easy to conclude that this is just a tactic.
I waited more than two weeks for them to comply with the refund. They haven't.
6. You go on XDA forums to warn other users not to use them, because this is the place where I found that site, which was probably plugged by the scammers themselves.
7. Find another reputable Unlock code provider.
Ultimately I did find a website, and they sent me a code which worked flawlessly. I'm not stating which one it is, so that this post doesn't seem like it's from someone trying to promote a website.
So, there you have it folks. I have an unlocked phone, but my back account is $26 lighter.
If you have $26 that is just itching to leave your bank account, donate it, or buy some random person some flowers. Do not use samsungsimunlock.com
I will update this post if I hear back from SamsungSimUnlock.com
I got scammed too...
Any chance you can PM me the URL of the site that worked for you?
I've been waiting 4 weeks now for a working code from samsungimunlock.com after also paying $26....
These guys are seriously scammy....

Why would flashing another carriers firmware do anything?
Did you put in a non T-Mobile mobile sim? If so were you prompted to enter an unlock code?
Hey peeps,
loaded the unlocked firmware onto the phone, so far so good, its now asking for an unlock code, which is what I want. Any recommendations for a reputable seller?
I've come from tmo where you're supposed to use the app, but if what Sheon849 says is correct, should be able to unlock with a code now...
Any suggestions welcome!
